    The hospitality was excellent.

    The Ryokan staff provided excellent hospitality and kindly answered every question with care. Since dinner was served in our Room, we were able to relax and enjoy the meal at a leisurely pace. The children were disappointed because they had been expecting a breakfast buffet, but the food itself was delicious. The Onsen was smaller than expected, which was a bit disappointing. With the beach right in front of us, we were able to swim in the sea and make wonderful memories.

    Your First Trip to Tottori

    We chose this Accommodation because it had high ratings for its meals and service in Reviews. We were a little worried whether our growing children would be satisfied, but in the end we were extremely happy. The elaborate appetizers won over our whole family, and we were impressed by the careful craftsmanship that didn’t simply rely on the quality of the ingredients. We could feel the attentive care of the proprietress and all the staff throughout our stay, which made it very comfortable. It doesn’t have the kind of Facilities you’d find at a large Hotel, but when we visit Tottori again, I’m sure we’ll stay here again.

    Your First Kaike Onsen

    I stayed in late July. I didn’t realize the location was this close to the sea, and I was truly impressed by the calm Sea of Japan views from my room at both sunset and sunrise. The free-flowing natural Onsen was wonderful, but perhaps because many guests used it after spending time at the beach, I noticed sand making the changing area feel gritty. (I really appreciated that it had been cleaned by the next time I went.) From check-in to check-out, the staff’s warm smiles and attentive service left a lasting impression. At dinner, the owner (?) also came to greet each table, which I thought was excellent. Luckily, my stay coincided with a fireworks display day, so I was able to enjoy an unexpected and lovely moment. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious—seafood really is amazing. Next time, I’d love to visit during crab season. It was a wonderful Accommodation that made me want to return. Thank you very much.

    Exceptional hospitality

    Even though the Accommodation rates are affordable, there were fresh flowers arranged in the Room and towels provided at the large public bath. Every staff member’s service was truly pleasant, and I was especially impressed by the attentiveness of the dining staff. I’m glad I chose to stay here.

    Exceptional hospitality.

    Even though we stayed at a very affordable rate, the hospitality was outstanding. The breakfast was delicious, the staff were kind, and we also appreciated the capsule coffee available in the lobby. We had a beautiful ocean view from our Room and felt very relaxed. We would love to visit again.

    The service and the quality of the hot spring water are excellent. However...

    The service was excellent. Even a small comment about the bath temperature or meals was addressed immediately. The Onsen water quality was unlike anything I’ve experienced before. It had a different mineral quality even among “beauty” hot springs, and my previously dry facial skin became smooth. However, in the evening there was very loud noise from what seemed to be a pump unit outside the bath, and I couldn’t stay in the bathing area.

    A Room with a full-window ocean view

    I was looking for an Accommodation with an ocean view. This Accommodation was excellent in that regard. Not only were the views wonderful, but the meals were delicious, and the ikebana arrangements throughout, along with the attentive service from the staff and the proprietress, gave it a classic Ryokan hospitality feel that was truly relaxing.

    All the staff were c...

    All the staff were cheerful and kind, and I had a very pleasant stay. At dinner, the proprietress even came to greet us in person, which truly moved me. Just one thing I noticed: The closet door (storage space) in the Room was loose and looked like it might come off. I happened to have tools with me, so I tightened the screws as a temporary fix. I know you are busy, but please check it once. The meals were delicious, and we had a wonderful time. Thank you very much.

    Disappointing Accommodation

    I stayed on the all-crab Plan, but although it was advertised as “tagged,” they never showed the tagged crab at the start of the meal like many other Accommodations do. The taste was underwhelming to the point that I doubted it was really Matsuba crab. I can say with confidence that choosing Matsuba crab at this Accommodation is not worth it in terms of value for money. The service also did not match the price at all. Used dishes were not cleared promptly, and even when they did clear them after I looked over, items like chopstick sleeves and used wet towels were left behind. Service at an ordinary izakaya would be better. Overall, the Accommodation did not feel hospitable in its words or actions, and it was not a comfortable place to stay. The large public bath was small and very average. The open-air bath was only token in size, and the amenities were minimal. This seems to be positioned as one of the more upscale options in Kaike Onsen, but if this is the standard, it’s better not to expect much from Kaike Onsen. Choose another Onsen area instead.

    First Stay at Kaike Onsen

    I chose this accommodation because I was drawn to the natural hot spring water. The onsen was truly relaxing and warm—such great water! The staff, despite being busy, were all very attentive and kind. I also appreciated being able to enjoy coffee in the lobby, but what made me happiest was the delicious green tea provided in packs for brewing with the teapot in the room. A good cup of tea really brings a sense of comfort. The upgraded crab course included a whole boiled crab, half grilled crab, and crab hot pot. The final rice porridge left us feeling extremely full—it’s quite a large portion! Even my 9-year-old child had almost the same menu and couldn’t finish it all. I recommend arriving hungry if you plan to enjoy this meal. Lastly, it would be helpful if thinner chopsticks were provided for eating crab during this course. The square-shaped chopsticks made it difficult to extract the meat from the shell, so I hope you can consider improving this detail.

    For your special day.

    We visited for a birthday trip to celebrate my crab-loving mother. We upgraded the dinner to a crab-focused special course. Boiled, grilled, tempura, and crab hot pot—it was truly a spectacular meal that made my mother very happy. The sashimi was incredibly fresh, and even though my mother usually doesn't like raw fish, she surprisingly finished it all! I also appreciated being able to order additional dishes. The hostess came to greet us personally and even waited outside in the cold to welcome us warmly. All the staff were very polite and greeted us with wonderful smiles, making our stay feel so warm and pleasant. The ocean-view room was breathtakingly beautiful. I recommend checking in early to relax or take a stroll around the area. However, at night, the futon felt thin and it got quite cold—I wished there had been an extra blanket (we managed by turning up the heater). My mother and I laughed about it later as part of our memories. If any friends plan on visiting Kaike Onsen, I would definitely recommend this accommodation!

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    I stayed at the accommodation with my mother in her 70s this time. We were surprised by the warm welcome as soon as we arrived. We were deeply moved by the exceptionally kind and attentive service throughout our stay. The room was also wonderful, offering a stunning view of the distant horizon, allowing us to relax comfortably. The cleanliness was impeccable, making our stay very pleasant. The meals were also excellent. Although we requested smaller portions this time, we were able to enjoy a variety of dishes in small amounts and felt very satisfied. During the meal, one of the staff kindly took photos for us, and both my mother and I were touched by the hospitality shown by every member of the accommodation team. If I visit Yonago again in the future, I would love to stay here once more. Thank you so much for everything during our stay!

    I was soothed by the ocean view.

    I was amazed by the ocean view from the room, as I didn't realize how close this accommodation was to the sea. On the day I arrived, I could see Oki Island in the distance from my room. The sunlight streaming in from the west and the ever-changing colors of the sea and sky as night approached were mesmerizing. The Miho Lighthouse lit up, and both the night view across the shore and the nighttime ocean were equally beautiful. The large public bath has a privacy screen to block views from the beach, so you cannot enjoy an ocean view while soaking in it; instead, we recommend relaxing in your room for that experience. The meals were very delicious. You can savor local ingredients, and even their broth had an excellent flavor. The flowers displayed throughout both guest rooms and common areas were lovely—autumnal touches like Japanese burnet added a seasonal charm that left a lasting impression. It’s not flashy but offers a wonderful place to relax at your own pace—a great accommodation overall!

    It was a bit disappointing.

    I visited this Ryokan again as I had a wonderful experience about two years ago. The fresh flowers arranged throughout the facility were lovely this time as well. The staff's hospitality was also very pleasant. However, the dinner quality has significantly declined compared to last time, and I couldn't remember what the main dish was supposed to be. The bedding had been changed to just a single mattress, which was too hard and uncomfortable. I understand the challenges faced during COVID-19, but I couldn't feel the charm of a traditional Japanese Ryokan this time.

    Comfortable~

    We had a very relaxing stay. Choosing the plan with breakfast and dinner included was the right decision. I stayed with my 70-year-old mother, and we opted for the lighter "Shiosai Kaiseki" dinner, which turned out to be perfect. We were able to enjoy a variety of dishes we wanted without feeling overwhelmed. The Onsen water appears ordinary at first glance—completely clear, odorless, and without any slippery texture. It’s so mild that you only notice a slight saltiness when it touches your lips. Despite its simplicity, it provided an exceptional relaxation effect; I fell asleep at 7:30 PM and slept soundly until 5 AM the next morning! Unfortunately, I missed the live performance by the owner due to this early rest but felt thoroughly refreshed. Breakfast was delicious as well, and being able to take a walk on the beach just 30 seconds from the Hotel in the morning was an amazing experience. Highly recommended for those looking to unwind!

    With my 5-year-old grandchild...

    Kaike Kikunoya provided exceptional hospitality from the moment we arrived. The room was spacious enough for three people, and our grandchild enjoyed running around freely in the ample space. The sunset view was stunning, and we could see our grandchild playing on the sandy beach by the sea—a truly wonderful room. We had both dinner and breakfast served in our room, and each time the staff entered, they bowed politely. Our grandchild seemed to learn this gesture as well, which we hope will continue during future outings. The folk song live performance brought great joy to my grandmother as she could sing along with about 90% of the songs. Personally, I would have loved five more songs—it was such an enjoyable experience! We were blessed with good weather just before the rainy season began, and all of the staff members, including the proprietress, were incredibly friendly and welcoming. This is an accommodation I would love to visit again if given another opportunity. Thank you very much!

    Upon entering the room, we were greeted by a breathtaking view of the Sea of Japan through the window, which left us deeply moved. Thank you for your thoughtful gesture of preparing cold water in the room for us to enjoy after relaxing in the Onsen. During dinner, we were honored by a visit from the proprietress at our table—thank you so much for that kind gesture. The warm smiles and attentive service from both the proprietress and female staff members were truly comforting. The food was absolutely delicious, and combined with the wonderful Onsen experience, everything exceeded our expectations. I was particularly impressed by one female staff member's lovely smile and her polite service during dinner—it left a lasting impression on me. Thank you very much! As we departed, we were sent off warmly by another female staff member whose kindness and genuine personality touched us deeply. Everyone’s beautiful smiles made this stay an unforgettable memory.     Warm Stays

    We stayed with a total of five people, including two children and my in-laws, from Fukuoka. Since my children like GeGeGe no Kitaro, we planned a trip to Yonago, and I was looking for a place where I could enjoy crab dishes. We chose this property because of its good reputation. It was a wonderful and warm stay, just as the reviews said. Although we hadn't set up dinner for the children, they kindly prepared white rice for us, which was very helpful. The food was delicious, and we were able to fully enjoy the cuisine of the San'in region. Each person had a whole crab, and the meat was firm, which was very satisfying. The onsen was at a temperature that even children could enter, and it had a salty taste. There was also an open-air bath, and we were able to enjoy it slowly twice, in the morning and at night. The folk song live performance by the manager was also wonderful. Thank you for the two days. We would like to use it again on the next occasion. We were very well taken care of for two days.

    This time, I stayed at Kikunoya for the first time. From check-in to after check-out, we received exceptional hospitality. The property was beautifully maintained, with fresh flowers placed everywhere, providing a soothing atmosphere, and everyone's smiles were heartwarming. Starting with the proprietress, the staff's courteous service, and the owner's live performance allowed us to spend a nostalgic and enjoyable time. This time, I made a reservation through a travel site. I completed a facility survey, and in response, I received a prompt reply through the site. Although I have stayed at various properties domestically, this was the first time I experienced such a thing. I am grateful for the hospitality in every aspect. Thank you very much.

    Crab Feast

    From the moment we arrived, we were treated with utmost care, with our luggage carried and our car parked for us. The room had a view of the sea, just as shown in the photos. We chose a crab course this time, so it was crab from start to finish. There were various ways to enjoy the crab, and it was delicious. Since our hands got dirty from the crab, they changed our hand towels multiple times, and the staff who served us was very kind. We talked with our companions about how even in a luxury hotel, it's rare to find someone so attentive. Thank you very much. One concern was that during check-in, we were informed about breakfast times, but anything past 7 AM was too early. Since check-out is at 10 AM, it can't be helped, but initially, we were told that the 8 AM slots were already full. We requested to have breakfast in the 8 AM slot even if it meant a delay in service, and they accommodated us, but we hope they can increase the available slots a bit more. I was a bit concerned due to some low ratings from other guests, but it turned out to be a very good Stays until the final farewell.

    It was an ordinary good Ryokan. Due to the high season, the price did not match the experience, so I gave it fewer stars. I heard that if you keep making Reservations on IKYU.com, the AI learning function recognizes that you can afford this price and always sets a high price, which made me wonder if that was the case.

    During our meal, we were asked if they could clear our plates, even if there was still food on them. We understand that the menu is served as a course and they want to move on to the next dish, but we felt rushed to finish our meal in just over an hour. It was disappointing as it did not align with our idea of leisurely enjoying a meal, which is one of the highlights of traveling.

    The hospitality is warm.

    This is a Japanese Ryokan with warm hospitality. All rooms are non-smoking, and the indoor air is clean. The staff and the landlady are very friendly, and we enjoyed a delicious meal in the room, including crab and nodoguro, spending a relaxing time.

    I was extremely satisfied.

    Attracted by the onsen flowing directly from the source and the moderately sized property, I stayed for the first time. The meals were very delicious, and above all, I was very soothed by the pleasant demeanor of all the staff. The additional order of blackthroat seaperch and crab was also extremely delicious, allowing us to enjoy a delightful dining experience. The room was new, and the ocean view was very pleasant. This is a property I would definitely like to stay at again. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.

    The hot springs were excellent, and my expectations for the meals grew!

    I extended my business trip and stayed here on short notice. Even on Ikkyu, there were only a few rooms left in nearby hotels, so I managed to book just in time. Although I was staying at a hot spring inn, I arrived at the inn after 9 PM. Check-in was smooth, and the staff explained the bath and amenities to me before I went to my room. Perhaps noticing how tired I was, they quickly completed the procedures and explanations, which was a great help. Since it was a sudden stay, I had no choice in the room, and it was a twin Japanese-Western style room, but I was glad to be shown to a nice room. The room was not too small or too large, just spacious enough to feel a bit luxurious, which might give you an idea of the room's image as "not lonely even for a solo traveler." Looking outside from the room, there was a small cove, and on a clear, calm day, the waves would be small, and you might feel like going to the beach, but unfortunately, it was a storm outside... I hope for better weather next time. As a side note, the beach is lit up at night, and on a clear night, it probably looks like a fantastic beach. This stay was a plan without meals, so I had dinner at a nearby izakaya and then enjoyed the hot spring. As for the hot spring, due to the aforementioned storm, I gave up on the open-air bath. I stepped out to the open-air bath for a moment, but the rain and wind were too much, so I decided to relax in the large indoor bath. Since it was close to the closing time of the bath, there were no other guests, and I was able to enjoy the luxury of having the large bath all to myself. That's when I realized that the texture of the hot spring water seemed different from the inn I stayed at in the same area a few days ago. Perhaps the source is different, but I felt that the water at Kaike Kikunoya suited me better. After that, I returned to my room and had a good night's sleep. This time, I happened to stay here without any other options, but next time, I would like to book a plan with meals. It would be great to revisit when the Matsuba crab season opens.
