    The Room is spacious and very comfortable.

    Maybe it was the off-season, but I was able to stay at a great price. I think this was probably the cheapest Room, but it was spacious and very comfortable for the price. What I liked - Spacious (in addition to the bed, there is a two-seater sofa) - The entryway is also spacious—great for guests with lots of luggage - A good selection of coffee, black tea, and Japanese tea, including decaf options - A cast-enabled TV, so you can watch your favorite videos and more - A mirror with a magnifying mirror attachment - Two trash bins, making it easy to separate waste

    Kyoto summers are incredibly hot—and that’s exactly what makes them great!

    I’m a 59-year-old man. My wife and I stayed for two nights from 8/20 to 8/22. I’ve posted before, but it had been a while since we last stayed at this Hotel—maybe about two years. It’s very popular, so if you don’t make a Reservation early, it may get booked up by inbound travelers. We visit Kyoto about four times a year, and there are clear reasons we choose this Hotel: direct access from Exit 4 of the Karasuma Subway Line; its location beside the Imperial Palace (it feels energizing); the area’s historical significance; how quiet it is despite being only a short distance from Shijo-Karasuma; the high quality of nearby restaurants; and, above all, the consistently excellent service standards. When traveling to Kyoto, I can’t ask for a better place to stay. I was also curious about the basement restaurant that wasn’t open before, but with so many great dining options nearby, we didn’t use it this time. The front desk staff are friendly, and everything from bed-making to cleaning is outstanding. I honestly can’t see what there is to complain about. We’d definitely like to stay again next time.

    Excellent access, great value for money, and outstanding hospitality.

    This Accommodation offered excellent value for money. For this price, the amenities, Facility features, and spaciousness were more than satisfactory—I was impressed. The subway is right in front, and buses and taxis are easy to catch. On top of that, the hospitality and attentive service really showcased the best of Japan. Most guests were international visitors, but I think they will leave with a great impression. I’m Japanese myself, and I was very satisfied.

    Favorite Hotel

    It is in a very convenient location for visiting the excellent Japanese restaurants and kappo dining in Gosho-minami, so I stay here often. The Room is kept clean and well prepared, the amenities are well stocked, and it also comes with Maeda Coffee, Marukyu Koyamaen Japanese tea bags, and sweets—perfect for a relaxing break. This is my favorite Hotel in Kyoto. On my last visit, even though it was not yet check-in time, they kindly let me check in early because my Room was ready, which I truly appreciated.

    An incredibly conven...

    An incredibly convenient location, making it easy to get around both east–west and north–south. It was truly helpful. I also really appreciated that it is almost directly connected to the station. The Room was simple and spotless, and I was delighted that the teapot and tea cups were ceramic. I would definitely like to stay again.

    I would like to stay here again.

    For getting around Kyoto, the location—right next to an exit of Marutamachi Station on the Karasuma Line—was extremely convenient. It was also easy to access by city bus for getting around town, including toward Arashiyama, and I found it more convenient than staying near Kyoto Station. Although it’s only one stop from Karasuma Oike, the area wasn’t crowded and felt calm, which was a plus. The Room I happened to stay in was a corner Room, and the layout and flow from the entrance felt very comfortable. The design also made it easy to organize my luggage. Tea and coffee were nicely provided as well, and I appreciated having a relaxing space to unwind in the Room after sightseeing. I also remember how quietly placed the yogurt pound cake at breakfast was—it looked understated but tasted surprisingly good. On the downside: one button on the provided pajamas was missing; there was a coffee stain on the sofa; and part of the top of the bathroom door was left damaged. (None of these caused major inconvenience so I didn’t ask for anything at the time, but I probably should have mentioned it at check-out.) The front desk team and breakfast staff were pleasant as well, so overall it was a stay I’d like to choose again.

    Excellent value for money.

    I ended up needing a place to stay on short notice, and this Hotel was the first one that came up in my search. The subway station is right below, there’s a convenience store next door, and Sukiya is open late—so there was nothing to worry about. When I opened the door wondering what kind of Room I’d get for this price, I found it spacious and comfortable. The amenities were well stocked, and there was plenty of coffee and tea as well. I did wish there had been complimentary mineral water available at all times, but at this price I can’t really complain. From next time on, I plan to choose this Hotel again.

    Comfortable.

    I used to stay here when traveling to Kyoto for work before COVID. This time, my spouse and I stayed for a private trip, and our corner Room felt spacious, very clean, and more than large enough. Everyone on the staff, including at the front desk, was very pleasant. We also visited the bar in the basement and were extremely satisfied. I would definitely like to stay here again.

    A Quiet Hotel in Gosho-Minami

    In a quiet area south of the Imperial Palace, the apple juice in the Room helped soothe my travel fatigue upon arrival. They seem to be targeting inbound travelers and highlighted a Japanese-style atmosphere. Cleaning was surprisingly lax when it came to picking up debris such as hair, but the bedding and towels were clean. I was glad they provided body lotion. Since there were only bath towels and face towels, I would have liked one more towel.

    Too unfriendly... a facility for inbound travelers

    This was a 35,000-yen-per-night reward trip for myself. From the entrance, everything was written in both Japanese and English, so I assumed it was geared toward international guests. However, I was surprised by how unfriendly the front desk staff were—almost as if their service style was “overseas.” I wasn’t expecting overly attentive service, but there wasn’t even a simple “Welcome,” and check-in felt purely procedural. When I asked to store my luggage, I handed over my bag first and then said, “Oh—could you take my coat as well?” and was told sharply, “Please wait a moment!” which made me feel sad. The communication felt worse than at a Business Hotel (and the staff were Japanese). The Room itself was spacious and comfortable, which was great! There was also a corner where you could see some kind of round bento box (?) display—it was puzzling. That said, I had booked a Plan that included JILL STUART amenities. It came with items like body cream and shampoo, but there was no toner or similar skincare items, which caught me off guard. When I mentioned it at the front desk, they said something like, “You have the amenities-included Plan (?),” and when I replied, “Yes—but there’s no toner or anything…,” they told me to wait and then gave me what seemed to be the standard skincare set (DHC sample packets) that regular Rooms probably include. The whole response left me feeling uneasy. Breakfast tasted good, but the selection is limited. Also, even though rice was available, there were no miso soup options—only corn soup—which honestly surprised me. (Since about 70% of guests seemed to be from overseas it may be unavoidable… but they did have natto, so I couldn’t help wondering why.) They said miso soup is offered on some days. The staff at the breakfast venue welcomed us kindly. However, they assumed I wasn’t Japanese; when I left after eating they said “Thank you,” and when I replied “I’m Japanese…,” they just laughed awkwardly and said “Oh.” The Room was really nice overall—which makes this experience all the more disappointing.

    A Hotel you’ll want to stay at again and again

    I’ve stayed here so many times on business trips to Kyoto that I’ve lost count. I think Hotels can be broadly divided into two types: those you want to stay at again, and those where once is enough. Needless to say, this is the former. Access is excellent: take the subway from Kyoto Station, get off at Marutamachi Station, and you can check in without getting wet even if it’s raining! All Rooms are either twin or double, so they’re spacious and comfortable—yet the rates aren’t particularly high, making it outstanding value for money. It’s also common to think, “I just want to pop into a convenience store,” and amazingly, there’s one right next door! The Hotel faces Karasuma-dori Avenue, so taxis are always passing by. If you prefer the bus, there’s a bus stop very close as well. And of course, the subway too! With so many advantages like these, it really is a Hotel that makes you want to stay again. Thank you as always.

    The bathroom door in the guest room is difficult to open, which is inconvenient, but the shower in the bath is excellent. The croissant served at lunch was very delicious. However, the sofa seats in the restaurant are worn out and lack cushioning, which may be uncomfortable, especially for those with back issues.

    A Relaxing Hotel

    A hotel to stay at when visiting Kyoto. You can truly feel the spirit of "hospitality." First, the warm smiles of the front desk staff. When you check in, it feels like coming home, and when you check out, it feels like saying "I'm off" as you head out. This is a hotel where I always feel relaxed and rejuvenated during my stay.

    Comfortable and refreshing stay.

    Thank you for your warm hospitality during our journey to enjoy the autumn leaves in Kyoto. The breakfast was of such high quality that it was hard to choose, and we were extremely satisfied. We are planning to visit another Facility as well.

    Stayed at Nok Kyoto for the first time.

    Overall, it was a very comfortable stay, and I would love to use this Hotel again when visiting Kyoto. Highlights: - The staff were polite and friendly, making me feel at ease from check-in throughout my stay. - Great location with smooth access to tourist spots. - The Room had a pleasant atmosphere, providing a relaxing space. Points of concern: - On some days, items like mineral water and nightwear were not replenished, which was slightly disappointing. - Although there was a window, the Room did not get sunlight as it faced a neighboring building. Other than that, it was very comfortable, and I look forward to staying at this Hotel again!

    A very spacious and clean room was prepared for me. It was conveniently located near a subway station, which made it very accessible for me. There was also a convenience store next to the entrance, so I never felt any inconvenience. The front desk staff were very kind and provided various recommendations for delicious local dining spots. However, one disappointing aspect was during breakfast. After being guided to my seat, there was no explanation about the breakfast system. Since there were many international guests, I wondered if it was just a buffet with light cereals, yogurt, and fruits as I observed others around me before taking some cereal and yogurt back to my seat. Then someone brought over a menu asking "What would you like?" which left me confused. I noticed that an explanation had been given to an international guest seated nearby when they sat down, so I thought "Oh, this is how it's supposed to be." While having breakfast, I couldn't help but feel that perhaps they assumed "you should already know" since they didn’t seem particularly busy at the time. It made me think—there are first-time Japanese guests staying here too!

    It was a wonderful Hotel stay.

    I used this Hotel for the first time, inspired by Reviews on IKYU. It truly lived up to the term "small luxury." Perhaps due to the off-season, I was subtly upgraded, and it was such an experience that made me want to stay in the Room while enjoying the art. Next time, I would love to try the Singaporean cuisine restaurant as well.

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

    Convenient and quiet, with very friendly front desk staff, making for a comfortable stay. However, there was an unpleasant stain or discoloration inside the toilet bowl, which felt unsettling due to its unclear nature. For business stays, the desk might feel small and dimly lit, which could be inconvenient. That said, I would love to stay here again for leisure trips!

    Easily accessible

    Get off the Shinkansen, take the Karasuma Subway Line, and as soon as you come above ground, the Hotel is right next door. Drop off your luggage, transfer between the Karasuma Subway Line, Tozai Line, and Keihan Line with a short walk to Gion. The bus stop is diagonally in front of the Hotel. Reach Kinkakuji without transfers for just 230 yen. Although it's hot in summer, most travel is by subway or bus. You can sit comfortably and stay cool... I chose this Hotel for its convenient access, but the Room was spacious with comfortable air conditioning and bath facilities; I slept soundly at night. Breakfast was very satisfying as well. The staff's service was impeccable—this is a Hotel I'd recommend to friends too! Thank you for your hospitality!

    The furnishings and design throughout the Hotel are carefully selected, creating a sense of unity and sophistication in the space. As the first Hotel in Japan by the Singapore-based Roxy Group, their dedication is evident. The attention to detail in both service and space design left a strong impression. Breakfast is not a full buffet; guests choose their main dish from Japanese or Western options, while desserts and drinks are self-service. This setup allows for a relaxed and leisurely dining experience. Highly recommended for both tourism and business stays.

    Cozy Hotel

    I frequently use this place. Above all, the Room is spacious and very comfortable. The staff are all pleasant and there’s nothing to complain about. The location is also convenient, as it’s just a short walk from Marutamachi Station exit when coming by subway from Kyoto Station, making it easy to reach even on rainy days without getting wet.

    Comfortable Stay for Kyoto Sightseeing

    We stayed at this accommodation during our trip to Kyoto as a couple. The room offered a stunning view of the Kyoto Imperial Palace, and the interior had a traditional Japanese design reflecting Kyoto's charm. The room was quiet, providing a very relaxing stay. With its excellent location just a 1-minute walk from Marutamachi Station, it offers easy access to famous spots like Gion and Arashiyama via subway. We would love to stay here again when we visit Kyoto next time.

    Very good

    I stayed in a Twin Room with a friend for two nights. Previously, I felt the service lacked attentiveness as there were no Japanese staff, but this time, Japanese staff were present, and even the non-Japanese staff provided polite service with smiles and greetings, leaving a positive impression. The meals were great as we could choose between Japanese and Western cuisine. The room and bed were spacious to accommodate international guests, and the bathtub in the bathroom was so large that my feet couldn't reach the end. If I may be picky, it would be nice to have a public bath available. The coffee from Maeda Coffee was also delicious.

    Review and repeat

    I am a 57-year-old man. I visit Kyoto 3 to 4 times a year for travel, and if available, I always choose Nok (Noku) Kyoto as my property. This time, my wife and I stayed for two nights from February 21st to February 23rd. As always, the room is clean and spacious, allowing us to relax. The ventilation fan in the bathroom is also well-cleaned, indicating that the staff has high standards. Additionally, everyone at the front desk provides very courteous service. They were extremely polite this time as well. It's clear that they are committed to quality customer service. Since the hotel is right next to Exit 4 of Marutamachi Station when you come above ground, there's no need to worry even if the weather is bad; it's an ideal location with many historical sites but fewer tourists around, making it truly a calm place. It's a hotel highly recommended for travelers.

    Great location, great price, great atmosphere, very satisfied.

    There is no large public bath, so I rate it 4 stars. Regarding the Facility, the toilet seems old as the washlet doesn't work unless set to medium or strong. I enjoyed a delicious breakfast. The atmosphere of the Hotel and that of the breakfast staff do not match, which is concerning.

    The Room was lovely....

    The Room was lovely. However, my honest impression is that the cleaning and meals were a bit disappointing. There were fallen leaves under the tissue box, children's footprints on the window glass, and stains on the teacup saucer (which seemed old and unremovable). I had breakfast, but the Japanese meal was disappointing. I wish I had chosen Western food instead. My husband had Western food while I had Japanese food, but the rice served was surprisingly dry to the point of wondering "when is this rice from?" It might be better without meals included. Considering the price, it seems appropriate.

    You can relax in a spacious Room.

    Used for a business trip. I was able to relax in the spacious Room. There was ample space for large luggage in addition to the closet, and the desk was wide enough to be convenient. (The Wifi was very weak, so if you are planning on having online meetings, it might be safer to arrange something else.) Also, while I had no issues using the shower, the temperature of the water filling up in the bathtub did not rise much, so I gave up on soaking in it. The menu at the café attached on the first floor looked delicious, so next time I think I'll use it with breakfast included.
