    A Rewarding Solo Getaway

I stayed here solo as a reward to myself after working hard through the summer. Perched on a hill with ocean views, about 15 minutes from Atami Station by Shuttle Service, it’s only around two hours from my home in Tokyo but felt like a real getaway. From the welcome afternoon tea while soaking in the footbath to the Onsen and delicious meals, I enjoyed everything to the fullest. I’d heard that drinks at dinner were free, but the selection was far more extensive than I expected—even I, who rarely drink alcohol, ended up having sparkling wine and fruit liqueur. This Hotel is surprisingly reasonably priced for what it offers, and you can really feel the effort behind that throughout. The Room was a bit dated and there were some scratches on the fittings and furniture, but details like simple, stylish glasses and cups; using local ingredients even if not luxury items; and keeping amenities to only what’s necessary actually left me with a very positive impression. In earlier Reviews I saw comments such as indoor footwear being wooden geta sandals that were hard to walk in, or that things had become digital and explanations at reception were confusing. However, they now provide stylish slippers indoors, and they also gave clear guidance—including how to use your smartphone—so I felt they genuinely listen to guests’ feedback and keep improving. All of the staff were pleasant right down to housekeeping. As we left in the Shuttle Service car and passed through the gate, I looked back and saw an adorable female staff member waving enthusiastically goodbye—it really warmed my heart. There are a few minor shortcomings if you look for them, but considering the price it’s truly excellent, and I’d love to stay again. Maybe it’s just my bad luck with weather: despite a sunny forecast it stayed cloudy throughout so the sea didn’t look its best. That’s something I’d love to come back for revenge next time (lol).

I was looking for an Accommodation where I could stay with my dog, and we stayed one night in the annex. The annex is separate from the main building, and the Facility was clean, so we were able to spend a quiet and comfortable time with our dog. However, it is too far to walk to access the services in the main building, including the Onsen, and at night there are mountain paths with no lighting, which is inconvenient and unsafe. There also seems to be room for improvement in service: on several occasions necessary items were not prepared in our Room, and to ask about anything we had to call the Hotel from our own mobile phone. If calls are going to be kept on hold for a long time, it would have been better if you could return the call instead. Dinner was a self-cooked BBQ, but there was far too much food and we couldn’t finish it at all, so this may also be worth adjusting.

    Unfortunately.

The Accommodation’s phone number uses a premium-rate navigation line. The Shuttle Service bus is too small, so it fills up quickly. The city bus only runs at 14:30 and 17:30. The female front desk staff was not helpful. There is no mobile signal in the annex, so you can’t make calls, and there is no internal phone either. If you need anything, you have to go to the front desk. There was algae in the children’s pool, so it was unusable. The open-air bath in the annex was dirty. I went to ask for a sponge but had to wait 15 minutes. The sandals for going to the main building were left outside and were wet. The windows in the large public bath were dirty. I was told that beer was the only alcohol available in the Room, but there were also sours and wine. I was told we would need to go to the main building to get water, but bottled water was provided instead. We weren’t traveling by car and did not receive Shuttle Service, so it helped that we didn’t need to buy heavy drinks after all. It’s disappointing because the annex Room and BBQ were great.

I was very disappointed, as I didn’t feel any hospitality.

This was my first time staying here on a girls’ trip. When I emailed in advance with questions, the communication was very courteous, which raised my expectations. However, once we arrived at the Hotel, I was disappointed by the inconsistency in hospitality among the staff. After completing the self check-in, a staff member gave only minimal explanations and simply told us to read the leaflet. Later, we enjoyed the welcome afternoon tea in the lobby, and the male staff member who served us kindly explained many things in detail—this was the only truly positive impression. When we moved to our Room (for three guests), there were only twin beds. In the closet there was a thin mattress and a set of futon bedding. Because my back hurt, I asked for an additional set and was told it would cost 3,000 yen. When I called the front desk to ask about it, I received a very curt response and felt shocked. At dinner, the restaurant staff were pleasant and we enjoyed a very delicious meal. However, at breakfast, the rice seemed too dry/under-moisturized (the moisture had not been properly adjusted), so we could not fully enjoy how good rice cooked in an earthenware pot can be. Since your rice is tasty, it felt like a waste; I think you should manage moisture adjustment more carefully going forward. Regarding Shuttle Service Reservations for departure: this was written in the leaflet, but there was no explanation at check-in. When I asked a female front desk staff member in the morning, she only said that it was already full. I would have appreciated being informed verbally at check-in that slots fill up quickly and that early Reservation is recommended. With no smile and quite cold service—there was no sense of hospitality at all—I felt very disappointed. That said, the young female staff member who saw us off left a great impression; she offered to take photos for us and helped us leave on a pleasant note. As for Facilities: perhaps because it is old, the elevator made loud noises and vibrated strongly enough to feel scary. For this price point, Facility quality felt low. The photos made everything look new and clean; after actually staying here as an Accommodation guest (staying overnight), I couldn’t help but feel there was quite a gap. Overall: because hospitality varies greatly from one person to another among your Hotel staff members (staff), I hope you will raise your service standards across all staff. Improvements are also needed in Facility maintenance management.

It didn’t feel like a real getaway.

The service and hospitality, including overall operations, were not attentive enough. There was no guidance about the welcome set of sweets and drinks, nor about the limited-time evening parfait; it felt like nothing would be provided unless we asked after seeing other guests having it. Even though you offer a nice hospitality event, without any announcement it loses its value—and since we didn’t know the parfait was time-limited, we couldn’t even try it. In addition, for both breakfast and dinner we had to heat everything ourselves, and in the end we were told to lightly wash the dishes and place them in a designated box. Honestly, it felt no different from being at home, so it was hard to truly relax. If they are ultimately taken away and washed anyway, what is the point of washing them once ourselves? And if they are reused after only being lightly washed by guests, I also had concerns about hygiene. We stayed in a Room with a sauna, but we had to turn on the power ourselves after arriving. Since it takes time to warm up, I would have liked it turned on in advance given that this is a sauna Room. The Room itself was stylish and wonderful—with features like a projector—which made these disappointing points feel even more unfortunate.

Everything was a new experience, and it was amazing.

We stayed with five family members, including our grandmother, and one Shiba Inu. Unfortunately, it rained and we couldn’t enjoy a nighttime campfire, but it was still a truly wonderful stay! The annex was a bit inconvenient at times—going back and forth to the main building for the bath and for welcome drinks—but the luxurious sauna time in the annex and the meals we enjoyed together more than made up for it with such thoughtful hospitality. Since our Shiba Inu isn’t really the type to socialize with other dogs, having everything self-contained in a private standalone unit was perfect for both our family and our dog. All of the Hotel staff were also incredibly kind. We had some issues—couldn’t watch TV and couldn’t cook rice—but they worked hard to help us. It’s a Hotel we would definitely love to visit again!

An Accommodation where you can feel the warmth of the staff. Looking forward to future improvements.

The staff’s hospitality had a warmth that made me want to stay again. On the other hand, there were several areas where I hope you will improve the pre-arrival guidance, operations, and Facility. First, I welcome digitalization, but it felt difficult to find the information I needed. Even with the AI concierge, I couldn’t get accurate answers, so I didn’t know that the Room includes a 500 ml bottle of water and drip coffee, or that there is a water dispenser in the building—and ended up bringing my own. Meals are by Reservation only, and according to an email sent the day before arrival, you must book via the pre-registration system “Mobile Order.” I wish this had been clearly stated somewhere in advance. Around late morning on my check-in day, I received a call to confirm my dining time—only then did I learn that a Reservation was required. It was right before boarding the Shinkansen and very hectic; also, there were already few time slots left to choose from. It would be reassuring if you could provide booking instructions by at least the day before. The phone response also felt rather businesslike, which unfortunately reduced my excitement about staying at your Accommodation. By the way, I was told that if you write your preferred dining time in the comment section when making your Reservation for Accommodation/Room booking), they will try to accommodate it. That said—as many Reviews mention—the staff’s hospitality was truly pleasant. The person who picked us up at the station and everyone in the lobby and restaurant were all attentive without being overbearing; whenever we asked for something, they responded promptly and kindly. That comfortable sense of distance felt wonderful. The all-inclusive offering was also excellent: sweets and free drinks after arrival, alcohol at dinner, parfaits after dinner—these services made our stay enjoyable. We chose the “Top-tier” dinner course; it was just the right amount of food, and especially outstanding were the raw shrimp carpaccio and grilled beef sukiyaki-style dish. Breakfast rice was also delicious—everyone in our group finished everything. We stayed in a twin Western-style Room; however, it gave an impression like an old Business Hotel (which disappointed my companion). On a positive note, the Room cleaning was thorough, andthe beddingwas cleanand comfortable. The wooden geta sandals providedin therRoom can be slipperyand dangerous when wearing socks, sowe requested simple slippers. At th amenity bar,my tall companion hit their head onthe upper partof theshelf when bending forward. Also, the dirt onthe large window inthe public bathwas noticeable. Because this is an Accommodation with such wonderful staff,I hope operationsand Facility improvements will make satisfaction even higher.

    Authentic sauna experience.

I booked a Room with a sauna. I’ve stayed at several places with in-room saunas before, but often the power wasn’t on when I got to the Room so I couldn’t use it right away, or the temperature didn’t get very high. Here, they turned on the sauna in advance so I could use it immediately, and it also had löyly, so it heated up properly and was very relaxing. It was raining and the floor was slippery, but the outdoor jacuzzi filled quickly, was spacious, and very comfortable! The public bath was also great—both the open-air bath and indoor bath felt wonderful and left my skin smooth. Since there’s a lot of nature around, there were some insects, but they didn’t bother me at all. There were also several chairs where you can rest. Because it’s all-inclusive, you can enjoy your favorite drinks from check-in through dinner until around 10 p.m. One of the foot baths wasn’t available, but soaking my feet while having a drink still felt amazing. The food was delicious as well. Breakfast time had been set in advance, but I used the sauna early in the morning and was really hungry, so they kindly moved my breakfast earlier. Thank you very much. Overall I’m satisfied, but I’m giving 4 stars because we waited quite a while for afternoon tea at check-in while guests who arrived after us were served first, and due to how allergy requests were handled. I’m not asking for menu substitutions—just that items be removed if needed or that we’re told what contains allergens. Amenities are minimal, so it’s safest to bring your own. Shuttle Service slots fill up quickly, so it’s best to make a Reservation early. I had a very relaxing stay—thank you very much.

    The meals were satisfying, but...

I was satisfied with the meals and drink service, and since this was a Multiple Night Stay, I appreciate the consideration given to the second day’s menu. What was disappointing were the B2F Onsen, an issue with the Room key, and dirt in the elevator. 1) Onsen: The main glass was extremely dirty. When I wiped the lower half of the center glass from inside with water on the second day, it improved significantly. 2) Room key: It should have worked by entering a 4-digit code, but it did not. I was told it was a malfunction; they took the paper with my QR code and asked me to request reissuance the next day. 3) Elevator: Dirt on the elevator floor itself and black rubber marks on the floor outside. With regular cleaning little by little, it should not have become this bad. I believe items 1 and 3 above are due to negligence by management. I hope for improvement.

    Thank you again for ...

Thank you again for your hospitality. There is one thing I still don’t quite understand: although I showed my Relo Hotels & Resorts membership card during my previous stay, why was I not able to check out early? This time it was fine, but still… That said, we had a wonderful time again. The Room was spacious and had a sauna and even a projector, so we were able to relax and refresh fully. I believe this is a renovated Accommodation, but the lobby, Room, and dining area were all clean and very comfortable. We also really appreciated the all-inclusive service—being able to enjoy complimentary alcohol from check-in is great. I did panic when water surged up to cover half of the terrace after draining the open-air bath (perhaps it was clogged), but your staff cleaned it up quickly and everything was fine. Thank you very much. The meals were also delicious both at breakfast and dinner. If I may make one suggestion, the menu was the same as last time, so I think changing it slightly by season would make repeat visits even more appealing. I’m sure we’ll be back again, so thank you in advance for your continued support. One more thing: it was disappointing that there wasn’t draft beer available with the alcohol in the lobby. I would love to see a beer server installed—many people are “beer first,” aren’t they?

This was my first time staying here. Because check-in and check-out were not handled at a front desk, I felt a little uneasy at first, but everything went smoothly and it was great. The Facility seemed to be in an older building, but it had been renovated in a very stylish way and was very comfortable. There was no waste, the service was very efficient, and I felt it offered more value than the price for a Hotel. I would like to stay again.

If we can’t use the dog run, there’s no point in coming!

Whether it was due to the rain or poor drainage, the dog run was full of puddles and unusable. We chose this place because it has a private dog run, but we couldn’t enjoy it and were very disappointed. We will never come again!

    The meals were disappointing.

Most of the staff were kind, and I’m grateful that even as a solo traveler I was able to stay comfortably. Overall I was satisfied, but I will note a few points of dissatisfaction. My biggest complaint was the food. The truly terrible dish was the “Domestic Beef Ribeye Teppanyaki Sukiyaki” (photo). It was the toughest meat I have ever had in my life. I couldn’t believe how unchewable it was, and it didn’t feel like wagyu at all. I also imagined it would be served on an iron plate, but instead there were only a small amount of vegetables in a small bowl with several slices of meat piled on top. The seasoning was good, but it simply wasn’t chewable. It was honestly awful—at an ordinary restaurant, this is something I would have sent back and asked to be remade. The shrimp carpaccio also had no Italian character at all and tasted more like cheap Chinese-style seasoning. Breakfast had issues as well: the miso soup was far too salty, and although there is only a small amount of dashi soy sauce to begin with, the container made it difficult to pour and it wasn’t nearly enough—overall there were many frustrations. Also, for both dinner and breakfast there were no time options available (perhaps everything was already booked). Personally, rather than having sashimi or simmered fish in the morning (after having similar items the night before), I would have preferred something different such as a Western-style breakfast—even if simple. Regarding the Shuttle Service: on departure they do not take you all the way to in front of the station. It’s only about a 3-minute walk, but you have to go downhill, so it can be difficult for guests with lots of heavy luggage. I appreciated that you offer separate two-piece samue loungewear in addition to yukata robes. If this were mentioned on your website in advance, guests who don’t like yukata wouldn’t need to bring pajamas. I ended up writing quite a lot, but honestly if the dinner meat hadn’t been that bad, I probably wouldn’t have written anything. Thank you very much.

    I was completely satisfied.

This was our second stay, and just like last time, we had a truly wonderful time. First, the welcome afternoon tea. We were impressed last year by the combination of the footbath and afternoon tea, and this time it was even better—there were more drinks and snacks. Our family especially loved the cookies. The Onsen was also excellent, with a sauna and an open-air bath, and we were very satisfied. The “beauty bath” was so nice that we used it three times because we wanted to soak in it again and again. And then dinner: every dish in the locally sourced course meal was delicious. The fruit liqueurs included in the all-you-can-drink plan were especially good—I wish I could have tried them all if I could handle more alcohol. The only disappointment was that the main meat dish differed between the children’s meal and the adult meal: adults had beef steak while children had pork steak, but our kids said the pork steak was tough, so we shared ours with them. We would appreciate something kids enjoy more, such as hamburg steak or chicken steak—or an option to upgrade to beef steak for an additional fee. Other than that, everything was truly perfect! Most of all, what made us happiest was that every staff member we met had a wonderful smile. Not only did they treat each guest with great care, but they also shared lots of tips about highlights of the Hotel and recommended spots nearby. During meals as well, their thoughtful attention and advice on how best to enjoy each dish made our time very comfortable. We would love to stay here again when we visit Atami next time. Thank you very much.

    Meals

The view was excellent. The welcome service was available until late, and the sweets were served in a lovely way. The footbath in the lobby wasn’t always crowded, so we could relax. The sea bream sashimi for the tai chazuke at dinner was also served again the next morning. However, the rice cooked in a pot at breakfast was quite soft and disappointing. All of the staff were very kind.

It was very disappointing, especially since the Onsen and sauna were great.

I stayed in the annex on the first day of a three-day holiday weekend. Perhaps because it is about a 5-minute walk from the main building, mobile reception was extremely poor, and Wi-Fi was also unavailable. I contacted the front desk, but at first they only told me it “couldn’t be used” without any apology. Only after calling several times did a staff member come to apologize. I was also told that the manager would provide an explanation before checkout, but no one came despite my waiting. When I contacted the front desk, someone else (not the manager) came to my Room to apologize. I was told the manager had other plans, which I found very disappointing. In addition, there were Facility issues that made me uneasy, such as the inner toilet door coming off its hinges. The Onsen, sauna, lounge, and other facilities were excellent and made for an otherwise appealing stay, which is why these service and maintenance shortcomings were especially disappointing. I chose this Accommodation specifically because I wanted to relax while watching videos using a screen, so not having Wi-Fi was a major drawback. I also felt that having an in-house phone system to contact the front desk directly would make guests feel more secure during their stay. After checkout, I received an email with the subject “Survey Response,” but it did not include any link (such as a URL), so I could not respond. When I replied to explain this, I was told it could not be resent—leaving me with concerns about how things were handled until the very end.

Not recommended unless you book a room with a barrel sauna.

I stayed in a Room with a barrel sauna. The Room was very nice, and the sauna was great as well. However, from the moment I entered, I noticed some hair scattered around, and the toilet slippers were left pushed to the back as if they had been moved during cleaning—overall it felt not thoroughly attended to. Some staff members were helpful, but unfortunately many were not. Even though I requested an extended checkout service at check-in, I was charged for it at checkout; a drink I ordered at dinner was forgotten; the meal details I asked about were explained incorrectly—so I won’t be returning. The selection of drinks available in the lounge and at dinner was also limited, and it didn’t feel like a free-flow offering.

    About Meals

The Onsen was at a perfect temperature and very relaxing. However, the food was not good, which was extremely disappointing. I was surprised that in Atami we couldn’t enjoy local fish sashimi or other good dishes (the simmered golden eye snapper was bad). The welcome drink and afternoon sweets were nice, but I wish more effort had been put into the meals.

From start to finish, the staff were very attentive, and we truly enjoyed our stay. The food was delicious—especially the milk pudding, which I’d love to have again. Excellent staff

All the staff were outstanding, and we had a very comfortable stay. I visited more than 10 years ago as well, and it has been renovated—almost everything was beautifully maintained, and the sunrise in the morning was amazing. I overlooked some minor details in the Room, but I was satisfied from the welcome service onward. This time we stayed for my wife’s birthday, and they also helped us with arranging a bouquet; she was delighted with the coordination to her taste. I checked the reviews before coming, and it was reassuring to see that previous negative points had been improved. We would love to visit again.

Even though you claim to offer smart services?

I am reporting this because we received extremely disappointing service. Since you advertise “smart services,” we completed check-in on a tablet. When we asked at the front desk how to pay the Hot Spring Tax, we were told to use QR payment in our Room. However, the in-room Wi-Fi would not connect. After consulting the front desk multiple times, we were told, “There’s a line, so turn it on and off yourself.” No matter how many times we tried, it did not improve. When we reported it again, the staff member did not say “We’re sorry” even once and told us to use Wi-Fi in the lobby. Other guests staying here were able to use Wi-Fi in their Rooms—so why only us? When I asked if you were telling us to just put up with it, they said nothing. To make matters worse, we were told that there was an available Room today and that they could offer us a move to another Room if we paid the difference ourselves. That response felt unreasonable. It is also inappropriate that no manager was available. To prevent others from experiencing the same issue, I posted this as a Review (the staff member also said this Room had had Wi-Fi problems for some time and had only just been repaired—so you knew about it; very disappointing…).

    Best value for money!

The staff's dedication to service was truly impressive and left a great impression. The meals were absolutely delicious. The view from the room was stunning, and the bath was so relaxing that I could have stayed in for hours. The sauna was clean and enjoyable as well. I had a wonderfully comfortable time in the lounge too. Although it was a bit disappointing that alcohol wasn't available at breakfast, considering the price, this is by far one of the most satisfying hotels I've ever stayed at. I've already made my next reservation! To all the staff, please keep up your excellent work! Thank you very much!

    Shuttle Service

Shuttle Service Due to fully booked reservations, we had to use a taxi. It was a long 20-minute distance. We hope the number of shuttles can be increased. The shuttle to Atami Station dropped us off at an inconvenient location near the station, which was difficult as we had a toddler with us. There was no explanation about the night parfait service during check-in. We were surprised that we had to lay out our own futons for the first time.

    Please simplify thoroughly.

Check-in and check-out are done via tablet, but guests are required to manually enter their credit card number for payment. If that's the case, it would be better to enable IC chip reading for cards.

There is no end to pointing out every detail.

This two-day, one-night stay was a trip I had been looking forward to with a friend who returns to Japan once a year. Since my friend loves saunas, we stayed in a room with a sauna. It apparently takes about an hour from turning on the switch until it's ready to use. While looking at the instruction sheet provided, I struggled to find the control panel in the pitch-dark sauna using my phone's light and eventually had to call the front desk. After some guidance over the phone, I finally found it—it was in a completely different location than shown in the diagram. Wouldn't it be better if they turned on the switch before check-in? It has a six-hour timer anyway. Despite being a room with a sauna, there were only two small bottles of water provided. For more water, we were told to go fetch it from another floor's water dispenser. Honestly, for rooms with saunas, shouldn't there be an in-room water dispenser? As for ice—since there was no ice bucket—I ended up stuffing ice into the kettle after fetching it from another floor’s ice machine. Everything felt disjointed—that’s my impression overall. In my opinion, considering what I paid for this one-night stay, neither the facilities nor service matched its value at all. The "all-inclusive" label felt like just leaving everything up to guests themselves. For what it's worth—this is actually my first time ever having to fetch water during any hotel stay (laughs). Everything seemed like this throughout our experience. The only saving grace was that staff providing shuttle service were genuinely kind and offered excellent hospitality—they made both our arrival and departure pleasant experiences. Thank you very much! Even when booking through IKYU.com, things like this can happen—it’s been quite an eye-opener!
