    The view from the Ro...

    The view from the Room was wonderful, and the meals were delicious—we had a great stay. If I had to mention one thing, I only wish we could have used the bath a little longer at a more relaxed pace. We will visit again in a different season. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    Delicious cuisine and thoughtful hospitality

    I stayed here for one night after having had my eye on it for a while. It’s close to central Tokyo, and the meals are well-balanced and delicious. Thank you to the proprietress, the head chef, and all the staff for your thoughtful hospitality. Now I understand why it’s so popular!

    An Accommodation filled with the couple’s wonderful sense of style

    This was a truly one-of-a-kind, wonderful Accommodation where we could feel the couple’s heartfelt hospitality everywhere. The sound of the wind at the open-air bath and the in-Room bath were both amazing. All of the meals were delicious, so it’s hard to choose a favorite, but we were especially impressed by the broth in the “Totchanage” soup and the dashi in the miso soup at breakfast. Thank you very much for accommodating my husband, who does not like shrimp. The bus from Shinmachi Station was easy to understand, so I also recommend it for those traveling by train. As of now, Japan Chuo Bus accepted payment by cash or PayPay. PayPay can be used to pay a combined total for multiple people. Please note that they cannot provide change from ¥5,000 bills. I couldn’t include everything about our unforgettable time here, but I’ll share it through photos. Thank you very much.

    Our very best Accommodation

    I look forward to visiting a different Accommodation once a month. Sansui was my first visit in October of the year of the earthquake disaster. The owner’s creative cuisine—wonderful to look at and even better to eat—the warm personality of the proprietress, and the beautiful view of Lake Kanna from the Room (I was surprised how low the water level was) made me a huge fan. The menu changes every month, so it’s enjoyable no matter what season you visit. The mixed rice for dinner and the white rice cooked in an earthenware pot for breakfast are so delicious that I always end up eating more than usual. I was also surprised to learn that the staff member we always enjoy chatting with is your younger sister! (Even though we’ve visited about 20 times.) It truly feels like we’re visiting relatives. It isn’t an Onsen, but with a lovely private bath and a warming hydrogen bath, plus beautiful scenery and delicious meals, this is an Accommodation I can confidently recommend.

    Fourth time

    This was our fourth stay. We usually visit in early summer, but this was our first time in spring. It was also peak cherry blossom season, and the scenery of the cherry blossoms around the Accommodation was truly beautiful. The food was even more delicious than before, and we were able to spend a very relaxing time.

    Enjoy breathtaking, ink-wash painting-like scenery.

    Everything felt gentle and welcoming, like coming home. The food and the warm hospitality made it feel as if we were being told, “Relax and take your time” (not literally), and it was an Accommodation where we could truly unwind. Also, at night, when we turned off the lights and looked outside, we could see an incredible number of stars. Because it was so dark with hardly any light—especially in contrast to the lake—the starlight looked even brighter, creating a wonderful view. The sake we had with dinner was also a rare local variety from Gunma. There were plenty of spring flavors as well, and we left completely full. I think this is an Accommodation where you can enjoy each season through both the meals and the scenery. Next time, I’ll visit again in a different season.

    A truly relaxing accommodation.

    This is my third stay, and I had a very pleasant experience. The carefully prepared meals, the view from the room, and the relaxing bath were all wonderful. I enjoyed soaking in the bath twice, in the evening and morning, which was very soothing. I look forward to visiting again. It seems to be an accommodation with many repeat guests.

    Just visited recently and came back again.

    I had the pleasure of visiting for the first time during this year's Golden Week holiday and had such a wonderful experience that I made an early Reservation to return in November. It was truly delightful to visit during the autumn foliage season, which offered a completely different charm from the fresh greenery of spring. The Room was fantastic, with sparkling glass windows offering stunning views of Lake Kannako, and above all, every dish was carefully crafted and absolutely delicious. The proprietress, the chef-owner, and all the staff were incredibly kind, making this another highly satisfying trip. Thank you so much! The autumn leaves at Jomine Park were breathtaking! I will do my best to secure another Reservation (laughs) and would love to visit again!

    The autumn leaves might have been a bit early, but we enjoyed the stunning view of Lake Kannako. We first tried the private bath, which offered a great view and was pleasantly warm for a relaxing soak. The dinner was delightful, with delicious local vegetables and tender Joshu Wagyu beef. However, considering my build, I should have chosen a room with a bed instead of futons. While there’s nothing much around the area, this accommodation is highly recommended for those who want to spend a relaxing day indoors.

    An accommodation to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and relax in peaceful nature.

    This is a wonderful accommodation. The serene environment with few rooms facing the quiet lakeside is truly relaxing. The meals prepared by the host are made with plenty of local ingredients, filled with care and love, and are absolutely delicious. The hostess is cheerful and kind, making conversations enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed the private bath in the room, followed by relaxing on a chair where I could fully stretch out my body for complete refreshment. I would give this place a perfect score without hesitation. Wishing them good health and hoping they continue for many years to come!

    Warm hospitality accommodation in serene surroundings

    The scenery, cuisine, and bath were all satisfying, making it an accommodation you'd want to visit again. A ryokan where you can enjoy dishes prepared by the friendly proprietress and owner without excessive service. Located just 1.5 hours from Tokyo, it feels like a hidden retreat in serene surroundings. With only five rooms available, you can also enjoy private baths (mineral springs).

    It was excellent.

    We stayed as a couple during Golden Week. To avoid traffic and crowds, we looked for nearby accommodation. Having mainly visited onsen areas before, this accommodation was a hidden gem for us. First of all, the meals were fantastic. Delicious dishes made with local ingredients were served, and it was one of the best we've experienced among all accommodations we've visited so far. The room wasn't new but was kept clean, and the view from the window was excellent. We would love to stay here again in the future!

    It was truly a culinary Ryokan.

    In a peaceful environment, this accommodation offered a perfect atmosphere for simply enjoying delicious food. First, we were seated at a table overlooking the lake and enjoyed tea and sweets (a fluffy soufflé cheesecake) while completing check-in and receiving explanations about meal times. The bath was a complimentary private hydrogen bath, which we were able to use three times during our one-night stay. The hydrogen bath provided incredible warmth and circulation benefits. We rarely encountered other guests, and the staff maintained an ideal balance of attentiveness, allowing us to fully enjoy the sense of privacy.

    May this accommodation continue to prosper for many years to come.

    This marks our 10th visit (14th night in total). No matter how many times we stay, everything is perfect—great scenery, delicious meals, comfortable baths (not onsen but the soft water feels great on the skin), wonderful rooms, and excellent hospitality/service. We have no complaints at all. Each visit clears our minds and leaves us feeling refreshed as we depart the accommodation. This time, both of us surprisingly finished almost all of both dinner and breakfast despite usually having small appetites. We always look forward to discovering new dishes each time we visit, but in addition to that excitement, we also love the classic Tochha Nage Soup. (Before this trip, I read a review mentioning soba noodles were served instead of Tochha Nage Soup recently, so I was curious about which would be offered this time... Strangely enough, Tochha Nage Soup even appeared in my dream the night before!) Seasonal rice dishes are another highlight for me since I rarely eat rice in my daily life—I even check the type of rice listed on the menu first thing! (laughs) We aim to reach our 20th and 30th stays while maintaining good health ourselves. Please take care of yourselves too—both you and your family—and continue running this wonderful accommodation for years to come. Wishing prosperity for Sansui forever from the bottom of our hearts!

    A journey with picturesque views and highly satisfying meals.

    It was an accommodation I had always wanted to stay at, and miraculously, I was able to secure a reservation for a 2-night, 3-day stay. As mentioned in other reviews, the view from the room was truly like a painting—absolutely stunning and mesmerizing. The view from the private bath in the room was also exceptional. The meals were centered around mountain vegetables and meat, which were a feast for us as vegetable lovers. Everything was incredibly delicious! Since it was a multiple night stay, they thoughtfully prepared entirely different menus each day despite how elaborate each dish was—amazing! The wonderful hostess, owner, and all the staff provided such warm hospitality with friendly service that made this trip truly satisfying. I will definitely visit again!

    We look forward to welcoming you again!

    I was not good with cameras as I don't photograph well, but the owner took such wonderful photos of us. They even enlarged one and gifted it to us, so we got a frame and displayed it in our room. We love it very much. The owner's cooking was exceptional, as expected, but I was truly amazed by how delicious all the ingredients from Gunma Prefecture were. Using the accommodation's website for local recommendations, we were able to bring back many delicious souvenirs from Gunma Prefecture. The room was impeccably clean and comfortable, and although it's not an onsen, the bathwater quality was outstanding. The water served during meals was also incredibly delicious. The hostess, staff members, and owner all welcomed us warmly and made this trip truly special. It left me feeling refreshed! The view from the room goes without saying—it overlooked a serene lakeside setting. In these times when smokers are a minority group, we appreciated being accommodated here; that became one of our reasons for choosing this place. Thank you very much for your hospitality!

    Questioning the high review ratings

    I made a reservation based on the high review ratings, but I have some concerns. 1. Bath: The accommodation introduction mentioned a large public bath, but I was informed that it has not been in use for three years. If I had known there was no large public bath, I would not have reserved this accommodation. It feels deceptive. Additionally, the free private bath was explained to be available for 45 minutes at check-in, but when reserving a time after dinner, it was reduced to 30 minutes. When asking if it would be okay to slightly exceed the 30-minute limit during the last time slot of the night, they firmly said no without hesitation. Including changing clothes and using a single washing area for two people within 30 minutes is unreasonable and stressful rather than relaxing. Although this plan included free access to spacious private baths, if the large public bath is unavailable, shouldn't they open these baths freely? 2. Meals: As described as a "cuisine-focused accommodation," the dishes were elaborate with good seasoning and visually luxurious tableware; however, the ingredients were ordinary and disappointing overall. Breakfast was very standard as well. When asked about coffee service after breakfast, we were told it costs extra—unbelievable in this day and age! After returning home and checking reviews again, some guests mentioned using capsule coffee makers in their rooms; apparently services differ depending on room type? Assuming coffee service would be standard practice here too added further disappointment following issues with bathing facilities. 3.【Plan's One-Drink Service】 The adult travel plan included one drink during private spa use; upon confirmation though—it turned out only barley tea placed on tables counted towards this offer!     Wonderful memories with your family

    We stayed at the accommodation to celebrate our child's birthday. Delicious meals, a beautifully designed private bath, and a relaxing, gentle time were enjoyed by the whole family. Thank you also for the birthday cake. From the hostess's conversation, we heard that many guests are repeat visitors. We will definitely visit again.

    Despite the unfortun...

    Despite the unfortunate weather, the calm atmosphere without many foreign guests allowed for a relaxing stay. The Room was spacious, the floor chairs were comfortable, and the meals were delicious. However, I found the washing area in the private spa too large and cold. Additionally, I was looking forward to trying "Grandma's Tossed Soup" as listed on the menu, but it was unexpectedly replaced with cold soba noodles, which was disappointing. For these reasons, I rated it a 4. The spa is very spacious; adding a sauna would make it even better. I look forward to visiting again!

    It was a wonderful time.

    Stayed for one night from March 6th. The surrounding area is very quiet, and the hostess warmly welcomed us. The welcome cake was delicious, and the paper with meal times had cute illustrations, which was a nice touch. We stayed in a room with a private bath; the room was very clean, and the view of Lake Kannako from both the veranda and bath was stunning. Spending quiet moments enjoying this scenery helped us forget our daily busyness. Although neither the private bath nor the room's bath uses onsen water, the hydrogen bath named "Yamazakura" felt as warm as an onsen and was very relaxing. The room's bath was spacious enough for two adults to bathe comfortably while enjoying that incredible view—it truly felt special. As mentioned in other reviews, both dinner and breakfast were exceptionally delicious. We've traveled to many places before, but these meals stood out with their creative touches within traditional Japanese cuisine. Above all else, we were deeply touched by the warmth and friendliness of the hostess, owner, and staff members—they made us feel genuinely at home. It felt like returning to our own family home. On departure, they kindly offered to take a photo for us; unfortunately, we had to decline due to personal reasons but appreciated their friendly gesture nonetheless. We heard that their menu changes monthly—looking forward to visiting again soon! Thank you so much!

    First time visiting.

    This was my first visit. The hostess and the chef were both wonderful, making my stay very pleasant. The Room was clean, and the meals were delicious, with a handmade touch that reflected the season. Thank you for your great hospitality.

    We arrived exhausted...

    We arrived exhausted after being caught in traffic on the way. The cheesecake we received immediately upon arrival was delicious. We were able to relax in the bath. The meals were elaborate and all delicious, but due to our age, we couldn't finish them. The mixed rice was made into rice balls for us, and we had the dessert for breakfast the next day. The tableware was elaborate, and the decorations in the building and the room made us wonder where we could buy them. The most impressive thing was that the room was thoroughly cleaned in every corner. It was very clean. The Wi-Fi was also connected. The day we arrived, the weather was not good, and we were looking forward to the sunset, but it was blocked by thick clouds. However, the next day we were blessed with clear skies and ended up taking photos every 10 minutes. I would definitely like to visit again, but considering the lack of an elevator and the difficulty of getting there without a private car, it seems quite challenging. It's a shame. Finally, thank you for taking a wonderful photo of us.

    It was a very wonderful Stays.

    We stayed in a room with a semi-open-air bath. Although the water did not seem to be Onsen, both the facility and the location were excellent, allowing us to enjoy the bath multiple times, both on the first day and in the morning. The room was also well-cleaned and tidy, and above all, we were able to fully enjoy the breathtaking view, which was wonderful! The food was also very delicious, and since the menu changes every month, it makes us want to visit repeatedly. The innkeeper, the landlady, and other staff members were all pleasant and attentive, and I think the customer service was excellent. Next time, I would love to visit during the firefly season!     I was able to relax very much!

    It was a very good inn to spend time alone in nature without worrying about the time. Since the number of guests is limited, it was not noisy, and I was very satisfied with quietly enjoying the scenery and eating delicious meals. The inn's staff were approachable and friendly.     A relaxing inn

    I had high expectations for this highly-rated inn, and it met them perfectly. The view from the room was superb. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious, and the tableware was lovely, leaving me completely satisfied. This visit was also to celebrate a birthday, and when I mentioned this, the hostess provided a handmade message card with the dessert, making the surprise a great success. I am grateful for the thoughtfulness. The tea and cake at check-in, the abundance of amenities, and the complimentary drinks in the refrigerator were all impressive. The futon and pillows seemed to be carefully selected, being neither too hard nor too soft, allowing for a restful sleep. I especially wanted to purchase the pillow. The free private bath was spacious enough, and the hydrogen bath was very pleasant. It was very quiet, and I felt refreshed as time passed leisurely. I would like to visit again in spring or autumn.
