    Reasonably priced

    After staying at an expensive luxury Ryokan the day before and being truly impressed, I worried I might be disappointed today, but the building was clean and the staff were very courteous. This time, I reunited with a married couple who were friends from my university days for the first time in a while, and our dinner conversation was so lively that we ended up staying for two and a half hours. We were never rushed and could relax at our own pace. However, for dinner, I think “oneba?” would have been better as simmered vegetables or a salad. We love open-air baths, so it was disappointing that there wasn’t one, but it was a clean and new Hotel that felt like a great value for this price.

    We had a relaxing and peaceful stay.

    The Hotel had a calm, modern Japanese-style atmosphere throughout. The view from the window was beautiful, overlooking the Nagara River and Gifu Castle. The scenery from the large public bath on the 8th floor was also spectacular. I really enjoyed breakfast, with fun and delicious options like comparing different types of rice and making my own furikake seasoning. For dinner, I chose in-Room dining, so I could eat at a relaxed pace. The only disappointment was that the tempura in the Shokado bento had gone cold, but that’s understandable for a boxed meal. All of the staff were polite, and I had a wonderful stay.

    A Wonderful New Year

    The meals were exquisite, featuring heartfelt creations by the chef. Each dish was crafted to highlight the individuality of the ingredients without being overly assertive, and we thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The menu exceeded our expectations in a delightful way, surprising us with each course and making us look forward to what came next. The baths were relaxing, and we took our time enjoying them all. The view from the Room was also wonderful. We will visit again. Thank you very much!

    I recently completed...

    I recently completed the reservation for the last available room. The reason for my reservation was that the "breakfast," which had reviews mentioning its deliciousness, was offered at a reasonable price. What I found disappointing was that the bath was standard and there were no places within the hotel or walking distance to have a light dinner.

    Great value for money!

    I stayed for breakfast, but the dinner was also great considering the low price. The bright and spacious room allowed me to relax comfortably, and the onsen was pleasant. Overall, I was very satisfied.

    Quiet Hotel

    The room was on the second floor, so we couldn't enjoy the view, but it was a quiet and relaxing space for adults. The room's bath was spacious, with bath salts provided, and perhaps thanks to Gifu's water quality, my skin felt smooth without any dryness. Soaking in the bathtub was very relaxing. However, since the window is large, it's a bit disappointing that everything is visible unless you use the sliding curtain. The mold on the sliding curtain should be addressed—I honestly didn't want to touch it. Having a bathrobe was nice, but I would have appreciated having two bath towels instead. The public bath on the 8th floor felt far away; we only used it once due to this distance, but the view from there was beautiful. When we went late at night, it was almost like having a private experience and very relaxing. However, I wish there had been more water pressure in the shower. There wasn't an open-air bath available. The fan seemed broken as it wouldn't turn on; it got too hot for me to dry my hair properly before returning to our room quickly. The staff provided excellent service with pleasant hospitality throughout our stay. Meals were served in a shared dining area with other guests which made it less private or relaxed than expected despite upgrading our meal plan—the food itself felt average overall except for delicious steamed egg custard (chawanmushi). Restaurant staff explained dishes thoroughly while working efficiently—this part stood out positively! As for "rice flower" included among dishes offered—it wasn’t clear what purpose/appeal added value-wise leaving slight disappointment considering its inclusion counted towards one dish item already covered under pricing arrangements agreed upon beforehand… Overall though staying here cost under ¥50k total accommodating two people together during visit timeframe involved—it seems fair effort put forth by accommodation team ensuring good experience delivered within budget constraints specified initially!     清潔でなるべく広い部屋に泊まりたい

    It's been disappointing for the first time in a while.

    1. Comfort in the Room Stayed on the 2nd floor. Expected a slightly better room, but was surprised to find no sofa—only a dining table and three dining chairs. The floor was wooden. How are you supposed to relax? There was a stylish open-concept bath, but I would have preferred even a simple space to relax over spending money on that. 2. Amenities Toilet near the entrance with one small towel at its tiny sink area. Next to the bathroom, there was a washbasin with two bath towels and two thick face towels provided. Stayed as two people, but shouldn’t there be two towels for the toilet? These small considerations matter. The limited number of towels felt like being told "You can only use either the public bath or your room's bath once." It would have left a better impression if they had mentioned at reception that additional towels could be requested. 3. Public Bath The public bath on the 8th floor is small with only one type of bathtub (didn’t use it). There is also a sauna available. Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap were from Kao. The changing room had five chairs but only two hairdryers—strange since only two people can dry their hair at once. 4. Dinner Arrived on time for dinner, but it took 20 minutes for appetizers to arrive; some parts of them were dried out. Other than that, dishes were served promptly and tasted great—I was satisfied overall! Staff provided polite service with excellent hospitality. The meat dish was exceptionally delicious. 5. Breakfast Wooden bowls looked impressive... details omitted here. This time I used IKYU points for booking and chose what seemed like an upgraded plan; however, many aspects of this accommodation left me disappointed during my stay (without point discounts: ¥58,000 for 2 people). Staying at Nagaragawa Seiryu Hotel (formerly Hotel Nagaragawa no Sato)—the "former" in its name should’ve been telling enough. That said though—it might just be normal pricing since we stayed on Saturday when rates tend to rise higher than usual—but considering missing touches like proper amenities or relaxing furniture within this price range… perhaps staying instead at chain hotels near stations would've been better after all! Overall disappointing experience despite good customer service throughout our stay. Would I return? No. Maybe choosing Japanese-style rooms could’ve made things different!

    A relaxing accommodation with views of the Nagara River and Gifu Castle

    I stayed at the accommodation with my mother, traveling from Nagoya. After check-in, we had a delightful and unique experience grilling Gohei-mochi over an irori hearth and enjoying it freshly made. The charcoal-grilled Gohei-mochi was aromatic and incredibly delicious. During this activity, there was an unexpected incident where my husband lost a dental crown due to the stickiness of the mochi. However, a local dentist kindly assisted us promptly, turning it into an unforgettable memory of our trip! As we live in the United States, I felt that such experiences would be highly appreciated by international guests as well. The book recommendations available in the tea lounge were fascinating; we even visited one of the bookstores (Kakukaku Books) introduced there on the following day. The meals were wonderful—especially for my elderly mother—as we could enjoy them slowly without feeling rushed or overwhelmed by buffet-style dining. Breakfast offered unique services like tasting different local rice varieties and grinding tea leaves with a stone mill while savoring beautifully presented side dishes against the backdrop of a stunning garden view—all absolutely delicious! Even the coffee after breakfast was exceptional. We had such a relaxing and leisurely stay here. We would love to visit again someday—thank you very much!

    Dinner was delicious.

    The dinner was delicious. The cost performance was good compared to the accommodation fee. I wanted to enjoy the onsen multiple times, but since there was only one bath towel, it was uncomfortable to use a wet towel, so I had to limit the number of baths, which was disappointing.

    As per the handle name.

    I recently stayed in the Luxury Twin Room. The only downside was that in the women's bath, two pillars obstructed the view from the window. Other than that, the room was comfortable and relaxing, and I was very satisfied with the delicious meals served in both the morning and evening.

    I was extremely satisfied!

    I arranged accommodation for my parents visiting from afar. They were very satisfied with the spacious room and delicious meals, which made me happiest of all. During dinner, the staff carefully explained each dish and drink, and my parents enjoyed discovering their favorite sake. Thank you very much!

    Cost-effective Hotel

    The amount of food was just right. Since children often can't finish their meals, I thought it was very good for families with children. We were able to relax in the bath as well. Since it is not a large Hotel, there were not many guests, so it was not crowded. It was perfect for our family, who dislikes crowded large Hotels. It is a bit away from the city center, so I think it would be best to use a car.

    Immediate improvements are necessary.

    I fully understand that it was my fault for choosing this place because the hotel I wanted to stay at was fully booked, but I will share my thoughts. Room: I chose a Japanese-style room. The futon that was laid out beforehand felt somewhat damp, and the mattress was really thin. The provided "tanzen" also had a smell, so I didn't wear it. It was my mistake to carelessly choose a Japanese-style room. Service: I checked in after 8 PM. An elderly person entered the hotel carrying a suitcase and a bag. There was no assistance from the two men at the front desk. They must have seen it, but they completely ignored it. Nowadays, in hotels in Tokyo and Kyoto, it's quite normal for hotel staff to come and help. I don't know if it's due to a lack of staff or inadequate training. Onsen: This was the only part I was fully satisfied with. The water was great. Facility: The carpet in the elevator hall on the 8th floor, where the bathroom is located, was frayed, giving the impression that it couldn't keep up with aging. The entire facility showed signs of wear and tear over the years. Meals: Several types of rice were prepared for breakfast. I enjoyed it. Satisfaction: The accommodation fee for two people is over 24,000 yen. Please consider the service that matches the price.

    Overall satisfied except for dinner. I couldn't understand the half-cooked rice that was served during dinner; many people might find the quantity insufficient.
