    This Accommodation has a great atmosphere and is perfect for relaxing.

    I stayed here during the Obon holiday. When I made my Reservation, there was no Plan with dinner, so I booked a breakfast-only Plan. For 3 guests, the total was JPY 46,625 after using points. That comes to JPY 15,208 per person. Since we couldn’t have dinner this time, we went to a nearby seafood market for our meal. It’s within walking distance, which was convenient. The building is old, but that adds to its charm. There are three private family baths; on the second floor where I stayed, there was a lamp that made it easy to tell at a glance whether one was in use. Obama Onsen has a high source temperature, and after bathing my skin felt moisturized and smooth. Breakfast had a great variety of side dishes and was delicious. Next time, I’d like to stay with a dinner-included Plan.

    A Family Trip with My Daughter and Her Husband

    This was my third visit, and this time I stayed in a detached Room with my daughter and her husband. I thoroughly enjoyed not only the Onsen in the Room, but also the Onsen in the main building at a relaxed pace. The meals were just the right portion size and as delicious as ever. Thanks to the warm atmosphere created by all the staff, we were able to enjoy an unhurried dining experience. Thank you very much. We will visit again!

    Relax in the soothing cypress bath.

    Although it was an old Ryokan, the Room was beautifully renovated, and the meals were delicious. The Room also had a hinoki bath, allowing us to relax and enjoy it at any time without worrying about the clock. One downside was that the yukata collar was wrinkled, which bothered me quite a bit.

    The meals were delicious.

    The food was absolutely delicious. While there were no extravagant or overly elaborate dishes, the seasoning was perfect. I ate so much that my husband was surprised (laugh). However, in Kyushu, the rice tends to be very soft. Since our family prefers firmer rice, this was a bit disappointing for us. We usually request individually cooked rice when possible, but it seems unlikely here. The onsen was also excellent. For the private bath, you need to bring towels from your room, which is a bit inconvenient. The room's bath was spacious enough that if you're staying at Yamaboushi, you might not even need to use the private bath. The room had a charming atmosphere and looked like something out of a morning drama (laugh). With renovated water facilities, there were no inconveniences at all. Service-wise everything was fine; however, some guests had strong fabric softener scents on their clothes—this could be improved upon for comfort. It’s been a while since I stayed at such an authentic ryokan-style accommodation and I left completely satisfied!

    Carefully Prepared Meals Reflecting Attention to Detail

    For me, "Nihon Hitou no Kai" accommodations are usually Onsen-focused and located in remote areas. However, this accommodation is part of the "Hitou no Kai" despite being in the middle of town. Why is that? I wondered as I visited. The three private baths each had their own unique charm, and as I soaked in them, I thought to myself, "This too feels like a hidden gem." As for the meals, every dish was delicious, but what stood out most was the rice. Each grain sparkled brilliantly; even at over 60 years old, it was the best rice I've ever had in my life. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, making it a comfortable stay. Thank you for your hospitality!

    Great Onsen and Meals

    Great value for money. The Onsen was excellent, and I enjoyed a relaxing private soak. The meals included beef and abalone, which were a great deal. I will definitely come back again.

    Highly satisfied.

    I wanted to take my mother to an onsen during Golden Week, and since this ryokan had a room with a private onsen bath, I thought it would be perfect for my mother, who finds large public baths slippery and scary. The staff kindly assisted my mother when she needed help going up the stairs to our room on the second floor and reassured her by saying, "Take your time," as she walked slowly to the dining area on the first floor. Their thoughtful gestures were greatly appreciated. Thanks to their care, my mother was able to fully enjoy the private onsen in our room, while I relaxed by trying all three of the private baths available. The water had a slightly silky texture and was pleasantly warm without being too hot—very comfortable! Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious. My mother and I were completely satisfied with our stay. This is definitely a ryokan we would love to visit again!

    We stayed in a detac...

    We stayed in a detached room for one night with our child. The room, renovated from an old Japanese house, was incredibly charming and relaxing. Above all, we loved the bath and used it multiple times. The private open-air Onsen attached to the room was truly a healing space, and having the freedom to use it anytime was wonderful. Although we expected it to be cold due to the old structure, the heating equipment worked well, allowing us to stay comfortably without feeling too chilly. The meals were carefully prepared using local ingredients and were absolutely delicious. The seasoning and preparation were meticulous, making us want to return just for the food alone. The hot pot made with Obama Onsen's natural spring water left a lasting impression on us. Even with our child accompanying us, the staff kindly interacted with them, making it enjoyable for our little one as well. Staying in a detached room allowed us not to worry about footsteps or noise disturbances, which was another great aspect of our stay. We would love to visit again!

    We enjoyed the small onsen Stays.

    The calm and serene appearance of the establishment heightened my expectations as soon as I arrived in the evening. This time, I stayed at the separate building "Yamaboushi." It was a type of Room where you rent a spacious and tranquil renovated old house. The garden was beautiful, and the interior had soothing elements scattered throughout. The luxury of having unlimited access to both an indoor bath and an open-air bath allowed my spouse and me to spend time leisurely. The meals were also delicious, with dinner featuring seafood, branded pork shabu-shabu, and just when I thought it was over, there were large turban shells, abalone, and beef steak, all with impressive taste and volume. Finally, we concluded with local rice and simmered fish. It was a blissful time. Breakfast was so plentiful that I almost ran out of rice, leaving me completely full. Lastly, we even received a surprise. Thank you very much.

    Let's stay at Obama Onsen instead of Unzen!

    This Stays is truly wonderful! The Room has been renovated with new plumbing and is clean. There was also a delightful letter from the staff. The Onsen has three private baths. The large public bath is also available for private use at night. The cypress bath is a favorite, with two washing areas. It's convenient to know whether it's in use by just stepping out into the hallway from the room. The meals are so plentiful that you'll be completely full! The braised pork is incredibly delicious... The staff's service is truly excellent, allowing us to relax completely. We will definitely come back to stay when we visit Nagasaki again.

    I was moved for the first time in a while by the wonderful Onsen and the amazing seafood.

    The comfort was comparable to that of a famous Ryokan, with an Onsen featuring free-flowing spring water and excellent cuisine. The chef must be outstanding, as the Japanese cuisine was on par with that of a first-class Hotel. It has become one of the Onsen Ryokan I would like to visit again.
