I had an exciting, heart-pounding, and truly blissful time.

Despite concerns about the earthquake, I traveled from Tokyo to Takachiho. I had been planning for a long time to visit Takachiho again, so I decided to go—and I was relieved that there was hardly any impact and I could stay with peace of mind. I was satisfied with everything: the Facility, the meals—everything. First of all, I was surprised that the Room had not only indoor and outdoor baths but also a sauna. It was my first time in my life staying in a Room with a sauna. The meals were explained in a picture-story style, and each dish had its own story and attention to detail, making them both delicious and fun to enjoy. Personally, I especially recommend the salt-baked kappo chicken and the panna cotta. On top of that, there was plenty of playful creativity with a school-festival vibe, and above all it was blissful time surrounded by the staff’s smiles. Nearby are Takachiho Shrine, night kagura performances, and Takachiho Gorge where you can also take a boat ride—an extremely convenient location. Thank you very much. If I have the chance, I’d love to return again.

The staff seemed to be enjoying themselves.

First of all, seeing the staff enjoy their work really lifted my spirits. It made me feel how much everyone loves this place. And of course, those smiles were shared with us guests as well. From the dishes inspired by Takachiho’s legends to the flint-striking ritual at checkout, the warm hospitality truly touched our hearts. It was an Accommodation that made us glad we chose it. Thanks to you, we were also able to take the Takachiho Gorge boat ride in the fresh and pleasant morning hours. With your 100th anniversary coming up soon, I sincerely wish you continued growth and success with everyone’s energy and good health.

    We are making every effort.

You can really feel how hard the staff are working to make this a great Accommodation. The meals were varied and made good use of Takachiho’s local character. That said, I’m not sure I could call them a perfect 100 out of 100—there may have been some limitations with the ingredients and other aspects. The Facility is clean, well maintained, and feels new. But the open-air bath… If it were a regular tub it would be fine, but it was more like a pot-style bath often found at day-use hot springs, which was a bit disappointing. I felt more relaxed in the indoor hinoki bath. Would I go again? Yes, I’d like to visit again. They make great use of what makes Takachiho special, and you can see their efforts—it was a very enjoyable stay.

    Warm and welcoming hospitality

With an indoor bath, open-air bath, and sauna, plus a 100-inch large screen and projector, the Facility felt refreshingly modern—yet surprisingly enjoyable even for older guests. The meals were outstanding not only in variety, flavor, and presentation, but also because each dish was carefully explained in a picture-story style, making it a wonderful experience where we could learn about Takachiho’s charm and history as well. All the staff were truly kind and attentive. Thank you very much!

    The staff’s hospitality is outstanding.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights on our first trip to Takachiho. The meals were different on the first and second nights, served at the right temperature, and everything was delicious. This Accommodation truly makes you feel that the staff want you to enjoy Takachiho. During dinner, different staff members stopped by one after another—so much so that we naturally remembered their names. Each person had their own style of hospitality, and even the illustrations used in explanations were hand-drawn by the staff. It was a warm, comfortable place to stay. The bath is not an Onsen, but it uses a system that keeps the water at a consistently comfortable temperature. With a sauna as well, it’s very refreshing—especially for sauna lovers. Takachiho Gorge (walkway + boat), Takachiho Shrine (night kagura), Amanoiwato Shrine (you can view Amanoiwato with guidance from a Shinto priest), and Amaterasu Railway (Takachiho Railway Bridge) are must-visit spots. Although we weren’t lucky with the weather, we were able to visit them all thanks to the staff’s advice. We would love to stay here again. Thank you for taking care of us over these three days. ,

So many thoughtful touches that let you experience Takachiho. It was truly a wonderful Accommodation.

Breakfast and dinner, an open-air bath and sauna, an indoor bath, in-Room amenities such as a bedroom projector, the private detached-villa setting—and above all, the warm and attentive hospitality of the staff—made this a truly wonderful Accommodation. Reservation and meals This is a small Accommodation with only eight Rooms, all in detached villas, yet the level of satisfaction is surprisingly high—I can wholeheartedly recommend it. I made a Reservation on IKYU for a breakfast-included Plan, and later was told by phone that dinner could be added, so I requested the Standard Course (11,000 yen). Since we had booked Takachiho Shrine’s night kagura performance that evening, we asked about timing and they responded very flexibly: “We’ll note that you’re going to night kagura,” and “We’ll confirm your preferred start time upon arrival.” It felt like they could accommodate us because there are seats reserved for each party staying at the Accommodation. This time we started dinner at 18:00 to match the 20:00 performance; both the food and presentation were delightful. We enjoyed it at a relaxed pace but ran slightly short on time, so they held our dessert for us. When we returned from night kagura, they delivered it to our Room—an incredibly thoughtful touch. If you want to fully enjoy everything without rushing, I recommend starting at 17:30. Dinner The meal comes with an entertaining storytelling presentation in a picture-card style inspired by Takachiho’s myths and night kagura. Dining while listening to the story feels special and becomes a memorable part of your trip. Every dish was delicious; there was great attention to tableware and plating as well, making it visually enjoyable too. The staff were cheerful, kind, and courteous—the quality of their hospitality truly impressed me—and dinner left me completely satisfied. Breakfast Breakfast is served in the same private dining room with no self-service at all. The table is set with an adorable cover sheet and handmade illustrated guidance cards; you begin with non-alcoholic amazake as a gentle wake-up drink. Beautifully arranged original dishes inspired by Takachiho follow—each one thoughtfully crafted and fun to eat. Dessert is included even at breakfast, along with an effect using dry ice to evoke Kunimigaoka’s sea of clouds. I admired their commitment to detail right through to the end. Room All Rooms are standalone villas with private gardens. Each garden has an authentic sauna plus a generously sized open-air bath. There aren’t many shared spaces, but instead you get excellent bathing facilities and video equipment so you can relax comfortably in your Room. We also appreciated their thoughtful touches such as cushions for night kagura outings (and even flashlights), along with snacks. This is an outstanding Accommodation that made me certain I want to stay again without fail.

Feel the presence of the gods

We stayed for one night on a family trip. As we walked up the approach, we felt warmly welcomed by the shimenawa rope at the entrance—said to reflect a faith of living with the gods throughout the year—and by the kind greeting in a gentle local accent. Inside, the lobby was spotless, and all staff greeted us pleasantly. When we asked about watching the evening kagura dance at check-in, they immediately looked into it for us. The Room was thoughtfully prepared for comfort, and we were able to enjoy a relaxing, luxurious time with the open-air bath, sauna, water dispenser, and drinks such as Oronamin C and Pocari Sweat. Dinner was presented in a picture-story style, which helped us learn about Takachiho’s various customs and traditions as well as the ingredients used in the meal—satisfying both mind and heart. Although we had asked about evening kagura at check-in, after dinner they had already prepared flashlights, cushions for each of us to sit on, and even snacks to enjoy along the way. Their attentiveness was wonderful and made us truly happy. At checkout as well, after seeing us off with flint stones struck together for good luck, they kindly took photos for us too. Along with Takachiho’s beautiful scenery, our comfortable time here with family—and all our smiles—became unforgettable memories. My father and mother were both very pleased. We would love to stay again. Thank you for such a wonderful time.

An Accommodation with Everything You Need

It was our first time in Takachiho, and the heartfelt hospitality, meals, and service were outstanding! When we told them we were going to see the night kagura, they kindly arranged for us to have dessert after we returned since there wasn’t enough time, and they also provided cushions, a flashlight, and snacks for the way—something we truly appreciated. The Room was spacious and very clean, which made our stay even better.

    I enjoyed a relaxing bath.

Despite being close to Takachiho's tourist spots, it was a quiet and relaxing accommodation. We arrived a bit early and were kindly guided to Takachiho Shrine upon asking for recommendations. The Akane-gumo room had plenty of space, even with luggage for two people, and we could relax on the sofa. The private bath was deep and excellent. We enjoyed it multiple times during our stay. The meals were plentiful and enjoyable, with each dish incorporating stories of Takachiho, making the experience delightful. The breakfast also featured locally sourced ingredients that were incredibly delicious. The staff members were efficient and attentive, which we found wonderful.

It was an incredibly satisfying accommodation! First, all the staff provided excellent service with pleasant greetings, detailed explanations about meals, and flexible responses. Although the guest room did not have an onsen, it was well-equipped with features like an open-air bath, sauna, and screen. Both inside and outside the room were impeccably clean, creating a comfortable space to stay. The meals were not only delicious but also creatively presented to delight both the eyes and ears.

    The hospitality is excellent.

Thanks to your attentive, prompt, and warm hospitality with smiles, we had an incredibly comfortable stay. The meals were both delightful and delicious. Although Takachiho is far from our home in the Kanto region and we initially thought visiting once would be enough, this experience has made us want to return. We have many friends who wish to visit Takachiho someday, and we will definitely recommend your place to them. We are glad we chose this accommodation. Thank you very much!

    The room was spaciou...

The room was spacious, featuring an indoor bath, outdoor bath, and sauna, allowing for a relaxing stay. The dinner included Takachiho marbled beef steak, which was too fatty to finish. The breakfast could use a bit more creativity. There was an error in the additional charge for drinks during checkout, but I attributed it to the laid-back nature of the locals and let it slide.

I enjoyed a relaxing and private time.

The effort put into various aspects was evident, and it was appreciated. The representation of the local culture was interesting, and the dining experience was enjoyable with creative presentation, though some dishes lacked a memorable bold flavor. For elderly guests, the sauna and projector screen were a bit difficult to understand and use. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience.

A delightful accommodation for an enjoyable stay.

I stayed for a multiple night stay in Takachiho, a town that turned out to be even more enjoyable than I had imagined. The accommodation I stayed at had energetic and friendly staff, making my time there truly delightful. On the first evening, dinner was presented in a unique storytelling format, allowing me to learn about Takachiho while enjoying the meal. The main dish, Takachiho beef, was incredibly delicious. On the second day, after dinner, I attended the Night Kagura performance. The accommodation provided shuttle service and even prepared cushions for us, which was very helpful. This Night Kagura exceeded my expectations and is highly recommended if you visit Takachiho! One point of concern: there is a smoking area next to the pathway outside the front building. The smell of tobacco was noticeable when passing through this area. It would be great if some adjustments could be made regarding its location. Overall though, it was an enjoyable stay at this wonderful accommodation. Thank you for such a pleasant experience!

    Stayed at Tokiwano.

The room was spacious and clean, providing a comfortable stay. Although it wasn't an Onsen, I was slightly disappointed to find the bathwater completely cold when I tried to take a morning bath. That said, the meals were much more delicious than expected, and I was especially impressed by the taste of the eggs. The generous pour of alcohol also made me happy. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay and would choose to stay here again if visiting Takachiho in the future.

Premium Accommodation Perfect for Takachiho Sightseeing

We stayed here for a sightseeing trip with our family of four. Located right next to Takachiho Shrine in a peaceful residential area, the location initially made us wonder, "Is there really an accommodation here?" However, we were pleasantly surprised by the clean and spacious room that felt like a newly built house. The room was equipped with abundant amenities (we especially appreciated the plentiful towels), a high-quality water dispenser and coffee maker, and comfortable samue robes, making our stay extremely pleasant. Although the bath is not technically an onsen, it provided an onsen-like experience thanks to Takachiho's pristine water and excellent facilities. The staff kindly accommodated our request to microwave corn we had purchased during our trip. Their attentive service extended to shuttle service for the night kagura performance and thoughtful care during meals, reflecting their high level of professionalism. The meals were perfectly portioned—not too much or too little—and every dish was absolutely delicious. Overall, this accommodation offers excellent quality for its price point. We would definitely choose to stay here again if we visit Takachiho in the future!

    Very good accommodation.

This was my first trip to Takachiho, and I stayed at this accommodation. My flight from Osaka was delayed, and I arrived at 6:00 PM, about two hours later than planned. Dinner started at 6:30 PM, and every dish was delicious. The portions were modest but just right for us in our late 50s. The bath had a comfortable temperature. The sauna was small but provided an enjoyable experience as a proper sauna. The room had a projector and roll screen, which we enjoyed even for a short time. The staff at the accommodation were cheerful and provided excellent service, making the stay relaxing. Although it’s far away, I would definitely choose this accommodation again if I have another chance to visit this area.

    For Memories of Takachiho

I stayed at the accommodation because I really wanted to visit Takachiho during my first trip to Miyazaki. Since it was during Golden Week, the parking lots near Takachiho Gorge were full, and when I consulted with the staff, they immediately provided a hand-drawn map and suggested using a shuttle bus, which was very helpful. The room was clean as shown in the photos, and I enjoyed a relaxing bath and had a comfortable stay. The meals were just the right amount for us, featuring delicious dishes made with local ingredients. If I have another opportunity, I would definitely like to stay at this accommodation again. Thank you very much!

    We stayed as a famil...

We stayed as a family of three. Our middle school-aged son experienced a sauna for the first time and seemed to really enjoy it. Since we stayed in an individual accommodation with a private indoor bath, outdoor bath, and sauna attached to the room, we were able to relax at our own pace. Dinner and breakfast were served in a separate private room from the accommodation building, but it was also divided into individual spaces, so we didn’t have to worry about other guests while still enjoying just the right amount of lively atmosphere from nearby conversations. The meals were delicious, and the amenities in the room were excellent (the water server offering hot water, room temperature water, or cold water was outstanding), leaving us very satisfied. Above all else, the staff's kindness left us with such a positive impression of Takachiho. If we have another chance to visit there again, we would definitely like to stay again. Thank you for helping us create wonderful memories!

Room with Open-Air Bath and Sauna!

The room includes an open-air bath and sauna. However, when the guests in the neighboring room played loud music in their open-air bath and engaged in adult activities, we complained to the Hotel. While it’s unclear if they were given a final warning, we were asked to move rooms instead. What a remarkable Facility! It was certainly an unforgettable experience. Of course, all we received was an apology with no additional service—another first-time experience!

A property I would like to stay at again

I stayed with my parents for sightseeing in Takachiho. Everything about the property, meals, and hospitality was wonderful, and staying at this property became the best memory in Takachiho. They were very pleased and said they would like to stay for two nights next time. The property was excellent, just as everyone else's review said. Thank you for a great time.

    This is my second stay.

The last time I stayed with my family, the food was delicious, and the staff's hospitality was excellent, so this time I stayed with a friend who was visiting Takachiho for the first time. When I informed the check-in staff of our reservation time for the Takachiho Gorge boat the next day, they kindly adjusted the breakfast time 30 minutes earlier than usual, which impressed both my friend and me. Thanks to this, we were able to enjoy a delicious breakfast at a leisurely pace before departing. Unfortunately, due to the rising river levels, we couldn't ride the boat, but it gave us a good reason to visit Takachiho again. When that time comes, I plan to stay here again.

A property that heals with thoughtfulness

I was very comforted by the staff's thoughtfulness. Before my stay, I mentioned that I wanted to see the night Kagura and the sea of clouds at dawn. During the Kagura, they provided shuttle service by car, prepared flashlights and cushions because it was dark, and brought the dishes I couldn't eat during the early dinner to my room after returning from Kagura. I was able to relax after warming up in the open-air bath. Also, when I was about to leave to see the sea of clouds before dawn, they chased after me to bring a flashlight. Even though it was 5:30! I was lent a coat because it might be cold, and the flashlight was a great help in the thick fog. I was moved by their thoughtfulness. I enjoyed both the stone indoor bath and the open-air bath. I'm not a sauna enthusiast, so it was a bit of a waste not to use the sauna. I choose hotels with large public baths, but it was nice to be able to take a bath in the room anytime and as many times as I wanted.
