This Accommodation was so wonderful that five stars aren’t enough! The hostess’s warm personality and the staff’s hospitality were truly outstanding. I would definitely love to stay here again!

This was our first trip to Shuzenji, and staying at Goyokan made it a truly wonderful journey. Thank you very much to all the staff. The building has a charming Showa-retro atmosphere, and the stairways are decorated with goldfish paintings throughout. A staff member told us about the fun of spotting hidden telescope-eye goldfish, so we enjoyed exploring as we walked around the property. The Room was also spacious, and we were able to relax from the moment we arrived. Since our Room faced the road, next time we would love to stay in a river-side Room. We used two of the three types of baths. The open-air bath felt great in the nice weather, and the rock bath was spacious and very relaxing. The meals were delicious as well—sukiyaki for dinner, and dried fish and black rice porridge for breakfast. However, since we both have small appetites, we feel sorry that we couldn’t finish everything. Everyone on staff was truly pleasant, and they chatted with us in such an enjoyable way that it made our time even more special. Thank you very much.

The Facility is clean, and the service is excellent.

First of all, the hospitality was outstanding. The staff were gentle and truly attentive. I’ve stayed in many places, and this was among the very best. The amenities were well provided, and the Room was clean and wonderful. I deducted one star for value because, considering the Room quality, the price felt a little high. Still, it’s an Accommodation with a high level of satisfaction. The hostess’s service (I think she was the proprietress?) was exceptionally excellent.

    We had a relaxing stay.

On a Thursday and Friday after the January holiday weekend, my spouse and I traveled to Shuzenji in Izu, expecting the tourist spots to be quiet. We were able to use the facilities almost as if we had them all to ourselves. The baths—both the rock bath and the cypress bath—were spacious and wonderful. The Shuzenji Onsen water was smooth and light, at a comfortable temperature, so we could soak for a long time. (For someone like me who doesn’t do well with very hot water, it was perfect.) We also enjoyed taking our time with drinks during dinner. We had a truly enjoyable Onsen trip.

    The sukiyaki was excellent!

This accommodation offers an excellent balance of cuisine, service, and onsen. The quality of the sukiyaki is beyond expectations, surpassing the standard of typical ryokan cuisine. The staff maintain just the right level of attentiveness, making for a very comfortable stay. A major highlight is the private onsen where you can relax at your own pace. In the Shuzenji area, this accommodation provides a highly satisfying experience.

It is an accommodation with a charming atmosphere.

Stayed for one night with breakfast and dinner included for 3 people. Conveniently located within walking distance to Shuzenji and Tokko-no-Yu, perfect for exploring the area. The accommodation has three baths, one of which can be reserved privately to enjoy the Onsen experience. The private bath had a charming atmosphere and was excellent. Dinner featured many local specialties from Izu, all delicious, especially the wasabi. The Izu beef steak at dinner and the wasabi rice at breakfast were outstanding. With only a few rooms available, it provided a calm and relaxing stay.

    Hidden Gem Ryokan

I stayed with my wife and was amazed by the interior of this wonderful Ryokan, which exceeded our expectations. The design is exquisite and artistic, with every corner of the facility impeccably clean, creating a very comfortable atmosphere. The private Onsen baths were all exceptional, and the water temperature was perfect for summer. We enjoyed soaking in the lukewarm baths four times. The location is ideal for exploring the Onsen town; we took walks in the evening, at night, and in the morning. The hospitality from the hostess and staff was perfectly balanced, making us feel at ease throughout our stay. I was deeply moved by how such an incredible Ryokan exists! The hostess's koto performance was also delightful (it even inspired my wife to want to play again after a long time). It might sound cliché, but this accommodation evokes a Taisho-era romantic vibe reminiscent of "Demon Slayer." It's surprising that it isn't more widely known given its outstanding ambiance. The cost-performance ratio felt almost too good to be true; we had such a peaceful and relaxing time here. This Ryokan comes highly recommended (though part of me wants to keep it a secret). Thank you so much for everything! Next time, I hope to try out the bar if it's open during our visit.

    The accommodation ex...

The accommodation exceeded expectations. It was stylish and clean, just as shown in the photos, with a special ambiance created by its elegant design throughout. Although it was renovated over 10 years ago, it still feels brand new. Having stayed at various accommodations before, this might be the most well-maintained one. The private rock Onsen was very spacious. Each section of the large bath had unique features, making the private experience feel luxurious. There were four reclining baths; some provided jet streams to relax your shoulders while others targeted your lower back. The washing area had four stations, each offering different body soaps and shampoos for guests to choose from freely. From a small statue of Jizo (a guardian deity), drinkable Onsen water flowed out—though unaware of this at first, I poured it over the statue's head instead. The meals were delicious. Dinner featured Western-style dishes with unlimited bread refills. The herb-crusted golden eye snapper was a first for me—it’s an uncommon preparation but tasted wonderful! A standout dish was pasta topped generously with fresh whitebait—a truly indulgent and flavorful creation. For breakfast, special items included black rice porridge and medicinal soba noodles—both rare and delightful. Service was excellent, ensuring a comfortable stay. About the room's TV: It came with an integrated DVD player and had a large screen—possibly around 50 inches. I watched Handel’s opera "Agrippina" on it; while the screen size made viewing from close to my futon enjoyable, playback occasionally stuttered or paused frequently. It’s unclear whether this issue stemmed from the TV or my own DVD. Regardless of that minor inconvenience (or perhaps due to my DVD), overall this is an exceptional accommodation. The view from the room was great, air conditioning worked perfectly well too—it made for a very pleasant stay!
