    Wonderful

I could relax and enjoy my meals without meeting anyone, and I lost track of time. I would like to stay again if I have the chance. The view from the Room is nice, but I wondered if it might be possible to stop the sound of the waterfall at night.

Late April to early May is especially recommended.

I love Niigata in midwinter, but I also really enjoy Niigata in the season of wild mountain vegetables after the snow melts. In terms of Onsen Ryokan within the prefecture, I have previously stayed at Satoyama Jujo, HATAGO Issen, ryugon, Hinano Yado Chitose, and Rankei-so. Each Accommodation was unique and charming, and this time I was finally able to visit Shiki Yuzawa QUATTRO, which I had been curious about for a while. As you can probably tell from the above, we travel around various Accommodations because we like places with great food. From that perspective—this is how my spouse and I both felt—the breakfast side dishes were good, but not “exceptionally delicious.” As for the seaweed (“nori”), it had a color and taste we had never seen before, which made us wonder: had this processed product changed over time? Or is this its intended final form in terms of appearance and seasoning? It left us feeling a bit uneasy. Perhaps for guests who usually select ingredients carefully and cook at home on a regular basis, it may not be especially impressive. That said, we truly appreciate that they prepared such a large number of dishes at the in-room chair-and-table seating area and offered their very best hospitality. We felt they were doing everything they could to provide a comfortable stay despite limited staff and time. We would recommend it more to guests with a hearty appetite who have no concerns about their legs or knees. This is because getting into a bathtub without handrails can become difficult as you get older. Both the indoor bath and open-air bath in the room continuously supplied Onsen water, so we could soak at a comfortable temperature again the next morning. We also enjoyed relaxing on the second-floor terrace. Since this season is neither too hot nor too cold—and there are no bugs—why not plan a trip now? The room seemed renovated and was very clean, and there was also a hair straightener in addition to the hair dryer. We were satisfied with the amenities! Thank you to everyone for your kind assistance throughout our stay. The large public bath at Sakura-tei was also nearby, so getting there was easy.

A Family-Friendly Accommodation for Guests with Young Children

We stayed as a family of four with two toddlers. The maisonette Room was very helpful for families with children who go to bed at different times. The Room had an open-air bath, which the kids absolutely loved. Everyone’s skin felt so smooth the next day. Thanks to the sound of the waterfall, even if the children were a bit noisy it was masked, which was reassuring and very relaxing. The amenities were well stocked and included Ferragamo products, and there were plenty of towels. Having meals served in the Room is truly appreciated when traveling with toddlers. For our family, who enjoy skiing and snowboarding in Yuzawa, this may become our annual go-to. All of the food was delicious, but we would be happy if we could choose the portion size for the rice cooked in a clay pot. We are concerned about food waste, so we hope this can be improved. The children’s menu portions are also too large for toddlers—half would be enough. Overall, we were very satisfied with the flavors. We really enjoyed Niigata beef and seafood, and would like to stay again.

    In the Snow

It was a truly wonderful Accommodation! The meals were delicious, the bed was fluffy and comfortable, and the amenities were well stocked! The bath in the Room was great, but the baths in the Hotel—especially the open-air bath—were outstanding! Soaking in the Onsen while looking at snow-covered trees and plants warmed both my body and soul. All of the staff were very courteous, and I was completely satisfied. It was such a lovely place that it made me want to stay longer next time. Thank you very much! We will definitely be back!!

    Basically great! But...

The room had a great atmosphere, the food was delicious and plentiful, and the service was excellent—almost nothing to complain about! However, one thing caught my attention... The window of a nearby house was partially reflected in the bathroom glass. Luckily, I had brought swimwear with me, but it felt a bit unsettling. If only the yellow wall dividing the rooms were slightly longer or if the ceiling of the room extended at a steeper angle... It was just a minor disappointment, but overall I was satisfied!

    It was good, but...

The open-air bath had a nice atmosphere with a waterfall as its backdrop, but the voices from the neighboring bath were completely audible... And this was past 11 PM. I couldn't relax at all despite wanting to. The meals were also disappointing. Wasn't the color of the meat strange? When we requested breakfast to be served slightly later, both the rice and miso soup were cold... The staff member in charge of our room was a foreigner. While it was clear they were trying their best, they spoke too quickly for us to understand and lacked a smile. What is hospitality? Perhaps that should be taught first. It was inconvenient that the living area for relaxing after using the open-air bath was on the second floor, and on top of that, the toilet lid on the second floor was broken and wouldn't stay up—just added stress overall. On our way out, we passed by an employee in the hallway who didn't even greet us; it left us truly disheartened. For what I believe is not an inexpensive accommodation, it's far from worth it in terms of value for money. This review may sound harsh, but it's honest feedback. We will never visit again.

    First Time at Yuzawa Onsen

This was my first stay at Yuzawa Onsen. Upon arrival, I was immediately shown to my room for check-in. The room had a dining table, and meals were served in the room, allowing me to relax and enjoy my stay without leaving the room until check-out. The welcome drink, a carrot juice, was delicious. The bath facilities included an indoor bath and two open-air baths, which were excellent. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious. The rice was especially tasty—truly authentic Koshihikari from the region! The maisonette-style room provided a comfortable space to unwind. There was also a lovely balcony; however, it was too hot this time to use it. Still, I had a wonderful experience overall!

Relax and unwind at your own pace!

A luxurious maisonette stay with my daughter, offering a perfect private space to relax and unwind. The Room's open-air bath had amazing water! Breakfast lived up to its reputation with a wide variety, and the rice was so delicious that I ended up eating too much. We traveled by car this time, but it's only about a 5-minute walk to Echigo-Yuzawa Station! We went there for meals and souvenir shopping. Although we didn't use it this time, guests can also access the large public bath at the neighboring Ryokan. Looking forward to staying again!

    The food was delicious!

The clay pot rice for breakfast and the variety of side dishes, carefully balanced in flavor and presentation, truly made us feel like we were in Niigata! The taste was excellent and absolutely delightful. While the layout and flow of the maisonette-type Room felt a bit unusual, everything else was highly satisfying! We will visit again! Thank you very much.

    Comfortable

It was quiet and relaxing. The Room was spacious and clean. I would have preferred the bedroom to be on the second floor, but it wasn't an issue. The bath area felt slightly exposed as taller buildings outside were visible, so I gave 4 stars. The Room amenities were well-equipped, but there was some limescale on the kettle spout, so 4 stars for that as well. It would have been nice if we could get a refill of rice during meals since the white rice was delicious. Despite being close to the station, they also provided Shuttle Service, which was very kind. I’d like to visit again!

Enjoyed a comfortable trip to Echigo-Yuzawa!

First, I was amazed by the stunning waterfall view from the Room. I enjoyed the Onsen experience with a private open-air bath and indoor bath in the Room, as well as access to the large public bath at Sakura-tei. The meals were plentiful for both breakfast and dinner, paired with the finest rice from Minamiuonuma, leaving me completely satisfied. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I would love to visit again in winter!

    Generally satisfied

This might be a good choice for those who prefer to avoid encountering others. Since it has been over 10 years, some aspects of the Room's Facility may feel a bit outdated. The meals offer quite a variety, which might be overwhelming for those with smaller appetites. Once in a while, this kind of style can be enjoyable too.

About the scenery around the open-air bath

The Room was a wonderful maisonette, but the outdoor bath area, including the surrounding pond and walls, was covered in water stains, making it difficult to fully enjoy the experience. It felt like cleaning might be quite challenging.

    Foreigners...

How many years has it been? I have been using it around the same time every year for so long that I can't remember. This year, something that has never happened before caught my attention: foreigners making loud noises in the open-air bath. Also, I had the impression that the service had changed a bit. It was disappointing that the Onsen in the indoor bath didn't get warm enough and the heating didn't work.

It's been years since I last visited Niigata.

I came to see Onsen and snow, not skiing. The weather was nice on the second day, and the scenery was wonderful. Thank you for your hospitality. The Onsen was good, and there was also an outdoor bath in the Room, which became a good memory. The meals were large in quantity, so I couldn't drink much of my favorite sake, which was disappointing.

Open-air baths with a view of the snow are the best.

I stayed for two nights and three days. The bath was absolutely amazing!! The indoor bath doesn't have water initially, so I recommend filling it up as soon as you arrive in the room. *Onsen water is available. The open-air bath with a view of the snow was wonderful. The temperature was perfect for the snowy weather. (I prefer it hot.) The size of the bath was also great (it fits one person perfectly). Bathing while snow is falling heavily is truly the best. If you start to feel dizzy, just step out for a bit to cool down, then soak again... It's an endless loop of happiness. The room was a maisonette type with a bedroom, bath, toilet, and dining area on the first floor. The living room was on the second floor. It might be good for young people, but perhaps a bit inconvenient for the elderly? This property might be aimed at a younger audience. As for the meals, I was a bit dissatisfied... For a property in this price range, it was a bit disappointing, though there were some delicious items. The soup dish (crab dumpling) was exquisite. It might be the chef's signature dish here. The other dishes weren't bad, but the flavors seemed a bit bland... The red miso soup made me wonder if it had any dashi in it, and many other dishes left me unsure about their taste. However, the rice was excellent. The new rice from Niigata Koshihikari was delicious for both dinner and breakfast. As expected from Niigata, a renowned rice-producing region. I stayed for two nights, and both breakfasts were Japanese-style. I was recommended Western-style for variety, but since I don't particularly like Western food, I chose Japanese. The quantity was sufficient, but as mentioned, the flavors were a bit dull... A bit disappointing. Regarding the service, it was neither good nor bad. It didn't feel like the service you'd expect from a property in this price range. *The staff were all nice, but it felt more like they were just doing the bare minimum required. I've written a lot, but the bath was really great, so the two-night, three-day stay was enjoyable. I'm not sure if I'll repeat this property, but I'd like to visit another onsen property where I can enjoy a snowy bath. Thank you.

You cannot enter the open-air bath attached to the Room.

I stayed in the Fuji Room. The outdoor onsen was said to be a 55-degree source, but it remained cold. There were only two taps, "Onsen" and "Water," so it could not be heated, only diluted. After running only the "Onsen" for two hours, I measured the temperature using the thermometer in the large bath, and it was 34.5 degrees. The bottom was even colder, so if I had stirred the water, the temperature would have dropped further. The source might be 55 degrees, but the temperature of the piping might be low, and the bath might be cooled by the surrounding water, causing the temperature to drop. Alternatively, if the water flow from the tap was greater, the temperature might have risen a bit more (is this how it is handled in the middle of winter?). I wonder if the room attendants measure the temperature before guiding guests. Naturally, I couldn't use the open-air bath attached to the room, and I felt it was a deceptive setup.

We were able to relax with our family. Privacy was maintained, and we could have meals in the Room. The amenities and water were fully provided, making it a truly pleasant stay. If I had to say, it would have been perfect if there was a mattress for the futon on the second floor for a stay with three people. I thought the sofa would turn into a bed, so that was the only slight disappointment. It was close to Echigo-Yuzawa Station, and they were happy to accommodate our requests, for which we were grateful. Thank you very much.

Although there was a slight sense of staff shortage, it was a good Ryokan.

The wall between the maisonette and the next Room might be thin, so noise may be heard depending on the guests in the next Room, but it can be improved if you inform us. For guests who value privacy, in-Room dining is available, which might be a good option. The service was also good. Thank you very much.

    Stay for 3 people

It was a stay with a futon laid out for one person in the living room of a maisonette-style two-story. The chatter of the neighboring guests continued until midnight, resulting in a trip with lack of sleep (tears).

A hotel where you can truly enjoy a private space.

From the welcoming staff to the dining staff and front desk staff, despite being a small team, the service was very attentive, making it a comfortable hotel. The meals and the natural hot spring bath were all wonderful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends. I would like to use it again.

The concept of the water wall is amazing.

The moment I entered the room, I was in awe! Right in front of me, a wall of water, a stylish bedroom, and a bathroom came into view! The open-air bath with natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source, overlooking the wall of water and the pond below, is a novel idea, and the sound of water falling from the wall is soothing. Also, I felt there was a difference in how the sound of water was heard between the bedroom on the first floor and the living room on the second floor. The bedroom on the first floor seemed to have better soundproofing. Therefore, in the living room, I relaxed while listening to the sound of water, and in the bedroom, the sound of water gently lulled me to sleep, allowing me to sleep very well. One of the excellent amenities was a stainless steel? glass from Tsubame-Sanjo that maintains the temperature. It was very useful. I could enjoy the free drink of Uonuma water even more. The food was beautiful and delicious. The rice was really tasty! I didn't know there was such a place in Yuzawa, and I would love to visit again. Thank you very much. If I had to point out a downside, it might be that some people could notice a slight smell from the pond water. It's so slight that it's just a momentary "hmm?" The portion sizes of the meals might be a bit large. Overall, I was very satisfied. I hope I can visit again.

    I want to visit again.

This was our first visit, and upon entering the room, we found a high ceiling with water flowing down the wall into a pond beyond the glass front, where there was an open-air bath. The indoor bath was also glass-enclosed, with ample depth and width, making it very pleasant, and we ended up taking multiple relaxing baths. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were plentiful, and we were told that the rice had just been switched to the new harvest on the day we visited. Our son, who loves white rice and has a big appetite, was extremely satisfied. We visited as a family of three, and our son relaxed in the living room on the second floor as if he were at home. It was very comfortable, the food was delicious, and everyone working there was kind and attentive. Thank you very much. We would like to visit again in a different season.
