    Dinner is…

    We visited on the first day of our annual summer vacation trip. The wind chimes along the path to the entrance lifted our spirits, and the staff’s hospitality and check-in made us feel glad we came all the way to Niigata, but… While we can accept that the Hotel is old due to its age, the cleaning was not very thorough. We wanted to soothe our long journey in the Onsen and then enjoy dinner, but honestly, it didn’t suit our taste. Maybe our expectations for rice were too high because it’s Niigata, but aside from the grilled fish… and as for the wagyu beef… The one saving grace was that whenever we asked something of the staff, they responded without showing any displeasure.

    The bath is excellent.

    It was a wonderful Accommodation. We were very satisfied with both the bath and the meals, and the staff were very kind. We had a relaxing stay. The Room was spacious, and we were able to unwind comfortably.

    The bath was great.

    The Onsen had wonderful water and was very relaxing. The nodoguro at dinner was also delicious, rich and flavorful. We stayed in the best Room, and the two of us were able to unwind comfortably.

    The in-room bathtub ...

    The in-room bathtub was littered with dead insects, and there was heavy dust around the ceiling ventilation fan. The motorized blinds in the room were partially off their rails at the edges, and the hangers would come off their hooks and fall when clothes were hung on them. It did not seem like any pre-arrival checks had been done, so it did not feel like a special room at all.

    The hot spring water was excellent. Dinner was delicious as well. The international staff were very friendly and welcoming.

    Thoughtfulness

    This was my first time staying here. The Facility is an older building (there are also Japanese-style toilets, and some parts of the bathroom cannot be used). I was impressed by the thoughtful attention to detail—such as the heater at the entrance, how the front desk provided guidance, an extension cord in the Room, plastic bags for slippers in the bath area, and well-stocked amenities in both the Room and bath. Using a coupon, I upgraded my plan, and dinner was delicious—I really enjoyed the sashimi and grilled nodoguro with salt, and I left completely full. The sake and rice were excellent as well, and the staff member who assisted us was refreshing and very pleasant. For breakfast, the onigiri made fresh on the spot were very tasty. I was also touched to see an elderly guest using a handcart to carry their tray—it made me feel this is a place you can continue to enjoy even as you get older.

    For families

    We were very satisfied with the Onsen and the meals. We especially loved the breakfast buffet—the Koshihikari rice was delicious. We will come again next year.

    Stayed at the accommodation for my parents' golden wedding anniversary.

    We stayed for a 1-night, 2-day trip from Tokyo. To be honest, while there were some signs of aging in the facility, everything was well-maintained down to the smallest details, and we felt it was very clean. Our children enjoyed the bath so much that they kept going back multiple times, making it a truly satisfying stay for the whole family. As for meals, it might have been the first time our usually light-eating kids ate so much! Both dinner and breakfast featured menus incorporating local specialties and were very filling. This trip was to celebrate my parents' golden wedding anniversary. The hotel staff had noted this in advance and surprised us with a dessert gift. Their service and hospitality were truly exceptional. We look forward to staying here again with our parents and family!

    This was my first visit. I was surprised by the modern atmosphere, which was different from what I had imagined. The service, meals, and Room were all highly satisfying.

    The hot water was excellent.

    Since it’s the high-priced season at the end of the year, I chose a reasonable Plan, so it’s understandable... But I really enjoyed the bath and the soft hot water!

    Not quite.

    I have been using IKYU.com to make reservations for hotels and restaurants. However, this time, my trust in the IKYU site has been shaken. Yumotoya, with a rating of 4.32, felt somewhat underwhelming. During the New Year holiday season, unlike the off-season, I paid a considerable amount; however, the service did not seem to match up. The onsen was under maintenance with ropes tied around some faucets, leaving half of it unusable and limiting access times as well. The facility overall felt outdated; the room was small and once futons were laid out, there was barely any space to walk—making me feel that the maximum occupancy per room might be too high. It seemed like preparations for New Year's left them too busy to provide high-quality service for end-of-year guests. There was a large karaoke snack bar that appeared unused and closed—it gave an impression of inactivity compared to modern accommodations where private karaoke rooms are more common now. The paid massage chair area also gave off a similar vibe; nowadays accommodations with decent ratings often provide free massage chairs instead. Additionally, it felt unusual for an accommodation rated above 4 not to offer post-onsen tabi socks. Overall impressions were lacking in many aspects—subjectively speaking—it felt closer to a rating of 3.7 rather than 4+. There are plenty of other accommodations rated around 4.5 that I find truly exceptional. This time fell short of expectations and was disappointing overall.

    The meals were delicious, and the service provided by the staff during meals, as well as the front desk's hospitality, was exceptional.

    One of my companions...

    One of my companions suddenly felt unwell, and although we had a private dining room reserved, the staff kindly arranged for meals for two to be served in our Room instead. They even delivered the meals to the Room with a smile, without any hesitation despite our last-minute request. This is definitely one of the Hotels I would love to visit again.

    One night, two days for three households

    We stayed for 1 night and 2 days in 2 rooms as a group of three families. One of our family members uses a wheelchair, and we are grateful that the necessary ramps were set up in the facility after leaving a message during the reservation process. The accommodation was spacious, and although there was quite a bit of movement between the onsen and dining areas, we enjoyed activities like feeding koi fish and using the free drink bar along the way. The meals were plentiful, beautifully presented kaiseki cuisine, and absolutely delicious. The onsen alternated between morning and evening access, which made it even more enjoyable. It warmed us up so much that despite being October, we needed to use air conditioning to cool down! The amenities provided were also excellent. It seems that prices for services like esthetics or massages listed on your website have changed; it would be helpful if those could be updated accordingly. We look forward to staying again when visiting Yahiko. Thank you very much!

    Price

    During the peak season, the detached Room does not justify the price of 150,000 yen. The entrance to the detached area is shared with two neighboring Rooms, and slippers from other Rooms are often scattered around, which is unpleasant. Due to the busy period, meals are all pre-arranged on the table, making the overall experience somewhat disappointing.

    Overall, it was disappointing. The quality of the hot spring water was good. There was indirect lighting in the Room that did not work and seemed to be hidden away. The air conditioning appeared to be centrally controlled, so I couldn't adjust the temperature, making it uncomfortably warm after bathing. What I found most disappointing was the service during dinner. The explanations were mumbled, and I could only catch about 40% of what was said. Additionally, they explained with phrases like "I think this is..." but it's obvious what ingredients are used just by looking at them. Saying "I think" is not something one would normally say in such a setting. Since I used this facility for my partner's birthday, it felt even more disappointing. I will not use this place again.

    Worried about noise?

    First time at Iwamuro Onsen, solo stay. The staff's service was excellent, the Shuttle Service was convenient, and the onsen water was great. However, unfortunately, the walls of the Room seemed thin as I could hear snoring from the neighboring Room and couldn't sleep. Additionally, my Room was next to a backroom area where staff voices and door noises were quite loud. Since there were no Reviews mentioning noise issues, I can only assume my Room was an exception—truly disappointing.

    Please provide two keys.

    Having only one key per room is inconvenient, especially when going to the Onsen public bath. While not asking for one per person, it would be helpful to have at least two keys, separated by gender.

    Relaxed with satisfaction beyond the price.

    Not new, but clean and spacious rooms for relaxation. The Onsen was also great. The meals were satisfying for this price.

    I was on the waiting...

    I was on the waiting list and was glad to be able to stay. The bath and room were spacious, and I could relax in a private room for dinner. It was delicious.

    The dinner was very delicious and filling. The bath was spacious, including the changing room, and felt very relaxing. I thought there was no sauna and had given up this time, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a small one.
