    First-time guest

This was my first time staying here, and I was surprised to find that the twin Western-style Room had no window when I entered. The window was covered from the inside with a wooden door. However, when I opened it, there was a window. The view was of the back side of the Hotel—an unpleasant sight I didn’t want to see. Another member of our group stayed in a different Room with a nice lake view, and I was shocked by how big the difference was. I don’t think I will use this Western-style Room again.

    This Accommodation w...

This Accommodation was located right in front of Lake Suigetsu. The staff, who were very knowledgeable about the local area, were a pleasure to talk to and provided great service, and the blackthroat seaperch and other local ingredients were truly delicious.

The shower in the bathroom is almost only cold water.

Even when set to the hottest setting, the shower water in the bathroom was almost cold. When I informed the front desk, they said, “We’re fixing it now!” If they knew about this issue, they should have told us at check-in. At check-out, there wasn’t even a single apology. My whole family ended up catching a cold. I thought their customer service was terrible.

    Affordable Accommodation

Enjoy both pufferfish and crab at once with reasonable pricing. The delicious cuisine and excellent service add extra value. The challenge lies in the aging of the facility and equipment. While renovations have been done well, understanding some inefficiencies can make this a very appealing accommodation you'll want to visit again.

    The room is unsanitary.

We kindly request more thorough cleaning. There was debris inside the disinfected cup, and the bed pad had brown stains, which made us uncomfortable. We noticed this when tidying up the bedding before leaving, but we would have preferred not to notice it at all.

    Great view

No beef dishes, which was a relief for me. The view from the Room was fantastic. I believe the experience exceeded the payment amount. Please repair the torn shoji screens. The large public bath and open-air bath are far apart, which may disappoint bath enthusiasts.

    Stayed in October be...

Stayed in October before the long weekend as a couple. Used a Japanese-style twin room. While the facility shows some signs of age, it has been renovated and is overall clean with no major issues. The men's open-air bath is not connected to the main bath, so after using the main bath, you need to put on a yukata and move to the same floor within the building to access it, which might be a bit inconvenient. Both dinner and breakfast featured local ingredients and were served in appropriate portions, which was nice. The staff were kind and helpful. Located by Lake Suigetsu, depending on the temperature and wind direction, the smell of algae can be quite strong, so we kept the windows closed during those times. Overall, it was a satisfying stay.

    Not quite.

The Facility is outdated and not well-maintained. The location is inconvenient, but the view was nice. The meals were mediocre.

The blackthroat seaperch was a bit small, but it was an accommodation that satisfied in every way!!

    Mikata Goko is the best!

The facility is visible from the Mikata Goko Rainbow Line, and we checked in with excitement. The bath was relaxing and enjoyable. For dinner, since the sea is nearby, we had requested a sashimi platter as an additional dish at check-in (3:00 PM). However, it was not on the table during dinner at 6:00 PM. When I asked the server about it, she said, "We will prepare it after you are seated." We waited, and the sashimi was served at 6:20 PM but unfortunately did not meet our expectations. It included freezer-burned pale sweet shrimp and white fish (sea bream), amberjack, and tuna that seemed like they had been prepared days ago. My spouse and I decided to look forward to lunch tomorrow instead. Considering the affordable accommodation fee, perhaps this was unavoidable; however, I sincerely wish the head chef would taste it themselves.

    Unfortunately.

This was my first time using it. I checked the Ryokan's website and made a Reservation with high expectations, but it was disappointing overall. The entire Facility is old and has not been maintained, making it very uncomfortable to stay. Everything that represents the Ryokan—entrance, front desk, lobby, guest rooms, and baths—feels outdated and shabby. The men's open-air bath is also far from the main bath area, which makes it inconvenient to use. What was decisively bad was the constant noise from the air conditioning system in the guest room (even when turned OFF), which was irritating and made it hard to sleep peacefully. The good points were that the food was delicious and the service provided by the attendant staff was excellent. *To IKYU: Is this Ryokan truly recommended?*

    The view is spectacular.

Despite staying during the peak of Golden Week, the accommodation was not crowded, allowing for a relaxing and peaceful experience. The view overlooking the lake was absolutely stunning! From our room, we could enjoy a serene view of the quiet lake, which was wonderful. The staff were all very polite and provided excellent service. While the hotel itself felt a bit dated, it was well-maintained and clean, ensuring a comfortable stay. The sound of the toilet flushing was quite loud and powerful, which caught our attention but did not cause any issues. The meals were excellent in both taste and portion size, with perfect timing for serving—truly satisfying. Unfortunately, we couldn't participate in the breakfast cruise due to time constraints; however, we look forward to trying it on our next stay. As part of celebrating our wedding anniversary, we received a surprise gift of couple chopsticks along with a dessert platter filled with fresh fruits—this thoughtful gesture deeply moved us both. Thank you so much for that special moment. We will definitely choose this accommodation again when visiting Mikata Five Lakes!

    Quiet Accommodation

During Golden Week, we suddenly decided to go out and finally found this place. Although it was a bit pricey, it couldn't be helped. It is a small and quiet Hotel. We enjoyed table tennis, took a walk by the lakeside, and had a pleasant holiday.

A simple and clean Hotel with a stunning view

Exit at Mikata Goko SI and follow the scenic road along Mikata Lake and Suigetsu Lake. Enter the village from Umiyama Pier, and you will arrive at the accommodation. Unload your luggage at the carport and move your car to the parking lot down the slope. The building is quite stylish, though slightly aged with some wear, yet simple and clean. It has a nostalgic charm reminiscent of Showa-era national vacation villages. The staff are few in number and seem busy but are kind in their interactions. The room features an entrance area with a sink and toilet, a 10-tatami mat space with beds, a table, chairs on an engawa (veranda), and large glass windows facing the lake offering refreshing views. The room includes a bath-toilet unit similar to those in business hotels; however, it is designed so that water splashes do not reach the toilet area due to an acrylic sliding door for the bathtub. The large communal bath shows signs of wear but is well-maintained through repairs and kept clean. The water temperature is hot, allowing guests to relax comfortably as it rarely gets crowded. The dining hall is bright with floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the lake. Most tables fill up gradually due to staggered dining times; however, guests remain quiet throughout their meals. Each spacious table has three individual stoves for freshly prepared dishes served promptly one after another using fresh ingredients that are delicious. An optional breakfast experience on a private sightseeing boat equipped with about ten tables offers a 40-minute cruise while enjoying breakfast and coffee in serene surroundings—reservations are first-come-first-served but confirming during check-in is recommended. Despite strong winds during our visit, there was no noticeable rocking of the boat. This accommodation provides good value for its price without any dissatisfaction regarding cost performance. For travelers by car, nearby attractions such as Michi-no-Eki roadside station, Nenshi Museum (Annual Layer Museum), and Mt. Baijodake Rainbow Line come highly recommended!

    You can relax and unwind.

You can enjoy a quiet stay by the lakeside. The Onsen is slightly on the hotter side. While the facility is somewhat old, it has been tastefully renovated to keep costs low. The food was delicious.

Be sure to join the cruising breakfast!

It is a lovely Hotel by the lakeside of Suigetsu. The breakfast cruise on the sightseeing boat departing from the pier of this Hotel was beyond expectations. Please join us.
