    Fukuchi Onsen in summer was absolutely wonderful.

    This was our third stay. Ever since our first visit, it has been one of our favorite Accommodations, and we enjoyed it again as a family this time. Above all, the meals are truly delicious. The Accommodation Fee is also relatively reasonable, and I find it very appealing to get this level of quality at this price range. I also love the greenery and natural scenery visible from inside the building. Being here naturally calms the mind—it’s a space that makes you want to take a deep breath, where you can forget everyday life and relax at your own pace. Our child had a great time as well, and I feel it’s a wonderful Accommodation for families. That said, because we have stayed several times, there were a few things that stood out to me this time. Dining around the irori has a great atmosphere, but the table feels a bit small and we had items fall off more than once. Also, even during the meal we had to receive dishes directly by hand from staff members, which was difficult. I would be happy if there were more room to relax and enjoy the meal. Regarding the private baths, I was slightly disappointed that the open-air bath setup seemed different from before. Also, one of the private open-air baths appears to have been closed for quite some time; if possible, I would be glad if it could reopen. As for service from staff members, I felt there is still room for improvement. Of course, the international staff worked hard to communicate with us, and their attitude left a very positive impression. On the other hand, overall I think it could become an even better Accommodation if there were more of that uniquely Japanese spirit of hospitality in the service style. Overall, this is still an Accommodation we love—one that makes us want to come back again. However, since there were several points that concerned us during this stay (and since Fukuchi Onsen has other wonderful Accommodations), it also made me want to try staying elsewhere next time. Even so, it’s an Accommodation our child can enjoy too—and it’s a place full of memories for our family—so we definitely hope to visit again. We would be very happy if some of what we noticed this time could be improved by then. It’s an Accommodation we truly love and hope you will keep up your efforts. We look forward to visiting again someday. P.S. A few years ago I remember welcome sweets in stacked boxes being prepared in our Room. It really lifted my spirits and made everything feel special right from the start of our trip. Is that no longer offered?

    A Nostalgic Japanese-Style Space

    I’m glad we chose Fukuji Onsen, the smallest Onsen area among the secluded hot-spring villages of Okuhida that aren’t easy to reach. This Accommodation welcomes you with an irori-style Room that feels like a nostalgic hometown etched into the Japanese spirit. The refined yet natural garden and the views from the outdoor bath let us spend time peacefully. Everyone at the Accommodation was kind and courteous. The international staff also spoke excellent Japanese and clearly took great care to provide true Japanese hospitality, which left a very positive impression. Both dinner and breakfast featured creative Japanese cuisine—beautiful to look at—using unique local ingredients, and we were satisfied with both quality and quantity. However, the private family bath and open-air bath were a bit far, and even when we went there they were often occupied, so we frequently had to give up. It was also disappointing that your feet can get wet on rainy days. Even so, it’s an Accommodation we would like to visit again.

    This Accommodation offered an authentic glimpse of Japan’s traditional countryside scenery.

    I found this Accommodation while looking for a nearby place to stay on our way to Kamikochi. It’s a wonderful Accommodation in a quiet mountain village, and everything—the atmosphere, the meals, and the Onsen—was extremely satisfying. We visited with children, and I really appreciate their thoughtfulness, such as preparing the largest Room for us. Although it was near the end of the season, we were able to join the free firefly viewing event and saw about 10 fireflies—it was truly moving!! The Hida beef in the meal was tender, sweet, and absolutely delicious! The Onsen includes both simple spring water and mildly alkaline water; neither has a strong scent or feel, so it’s very refreshing. Some people might find it just slightly hot. The Room was spacious and relaxing, and even in late July it was cool at night—we could turn off the air conditioner, open the windows, and sleep comfortably. We will definitely be back!! *The only thing I noticed: I’m not sure whether it’s due to prefectural policy or the Accommodation’s policy, but there were many foreign staff members (Southeast Asian) working in the dining area. They were friendly and very kind so it didn’t bother us at all, but some guests may feel differently. If you’re concerned, you may want to contact them in advance.*

    Very good.

    The Ryokan has a traditional atmosphere and offers three private baths, but the largest one was under renovation, so we couldn’t enjoy the open-air bath. The men’s and women’s public baths are within a five-minute walk outside the Ryokan; please be very careful if going at night, but soaking in the hot spring while looking out at the waterfall is especially relaxing. Breakfast and dinner were beautifully presented, carefully prepared, and very delicious. Although the Ryokan isn’t very large, it has a relaxing and comfortable ambiance, and we had a wonderful night and morning.

    This time, my younger sister visiting from Taiwan and four friends and I took a trip to see the cherry blossoms.

    We are very satisfied!

    Since the pandemic ended, it has been difficult to secure a Reservation, but I was finally able to stay here again after a long time. The staff were very attentive, and I was able to enjoy a truly relaxing time.

    I visited hoping to ...

    I visited hoping to enjoy a snow-viewing bath, but there was no snow even though it was February. It was a bit disappointing, but the Accommodation’s warm atmosphere and attentive service, along with the wonderful Onsen, allowed me to truly relax. It’s an Accommodation that made me want to come back.

    Hida beef is incredibly delicious!

    We stayed as a family of five, and the setup was perfect with three beds on the second floor and two futons downstairs. The traditional Japanese house had a calm and charming atmosphere. Meals were served around an irori (sunken hearth), with delicious dishes brought out one after another. The highlight was the stone-grilled marbled Hida beef—it was absolutely delicious and melted in our mouths! The dessert pudding was also very tasty. The Nepalese staff provided bright and friendly service, which added to the experience. We enjoyed all types of baths: private bath, large public bath, and open-air bath. However, the shower pressure in the private bath was slightly weak. The semi-open-air large public bath offered a sense of openness that felt wonderful. One area for improvement would be making the car drop-off area easier to find and more spacious as it felt a bit narrow and confusing to locate. Overall, we had such a refreshing stay at this accommodation—we would love to stay here again!

    Thank you for your patronage.

    We celebrated my husband's birthday with this trip. Although we missed the deadline to order a special birthday meal, we received a heartfelt card, origami cranes, and a commemorative photo, which made for wonderful memories. Thank you so much. Since I had knee pain, a chair was kindly provided in the room, allowing me to relax comfortably. The bath facilities included a large public bath and two private baths. As it was raining upon arrival, we used one of the private baths the next morning. The fresh morning air and beautiful blue sky made us feel glad about choosing this accommodation. Meals were served at an irori (traditional Japanese hearth) table. We were told that "the gohei mochi and ayu fish are warm and ready to eat," but unfortunately both were cold. While other dishes were delicious, this point was disappointing. Some staff members did not have Japanese as their native language; however, there were no issues with communication, which allowed us to feel at ease during our stay. We had some trouble finding the parking lot initially and apologize for any inconvenience caused by our confusion. Thank you for providing us with such an enjoyable experience!

    The bath, Room, and ...

    The bath, Room, and meals were all great. It was nice that the bath was available anytime. The meal cooked over the irori was excellent. The gohei mochi was delicious. The white rice was also superb. The desserts for dinner and breakfast were good too. The strawberry dessert at dinner was cute in appearance. The welcome drink tea and sweets served at the irori in the lobby were nice. The Room with a kotatsu was the best. A slightly disappointing point was that the water in the Mori no Yu was quite lukewarm. Also, the futon was hard. But I was very satisfied. Thank you very much.

    We stayed with our family during the New Year. The meal was an appetizer of New Year's dishes. The appetizer had a sweet flavor, possibly a Hida-style seasoning, which might not be to everyone's taste, but it was delicious. Having freshly made mochi for breakfast was the best. I wanted to try the char and gohei mochi, which were not on the New Year's menu. The bath water was good, the Room was clean, and the dining areas were clean and comfortable. The disappointing points were the lack of easily available hot coffee and a billing error. It's understandable during a busy season, but these negative points leave an impression, so it would be nice if they were improved.

    I used this place wh...

    I used this place when visiting Kamikochi and Takayama. The atmosphere was very nice, and I was able to relax a lot. The foreign staff provided excellent service, and I was pleased with their politeness. The Room was clean, but the smell of cigarettes was concerning. The meals were worth the price and satisfying. The private bath was excellent, but the temperature was low, and I almost caught a cold... haha I was very happy with the courteous service from everyone.
