    A Wonderful Accommodation with Warm Hospitality

    We stayed here for our 25th wedding anniversary trip. It’s a charming Accommodation with a strong sense of history; while there are worn areas here and there, we could tell they are putting real effort into repairs and upkeep. The amenities were excellent, and my wife was truly impressed. The bath temperature felt a bit too lukewarm for me (I prefer it hotter), so I think there’s room for improvement, but as a smoker I appreciated being able to smoke on the Room terrace. We requested in-room dining at night, but the service was a little slow and we couldn’t shake our hunger—so we ended up heading into the city for ramen after dinner. That said, the easy access to central Kyoto is actually a big plus: if you ask for a taxi, you can be out enjoying the city in about five minutes. We drove this time, but next time taking the Shinkansen and using taxis to go back and forth between the Accommodation and sightseeing spots sounds like a great option. Another benefit of the location is being able to wake up early and photograph Nanzen-ji almost all to yourself. Breakfast was delicious, and having yudofu in the morning felt gentle after days of overeating. The staff provided very polite service. There were several foreign families staying as well, and even older staff members handled English smoothly—it really made us feel Kyoto’s spirit of hospitality. Overall, it’s a wonderful Accommodation that we’d love to stay at again and would happily recommend.

    The Room was not pro...

    The Room was not properly cleaned, and hair was found upon check-in. Additionally, the response at the front desk was inadequate with various mistakes. Furthermore, the staff's attitude was very casual, resembling that of part-time workers.

    Terrible, to say the...

    Terrible, to say the least. There will likely be no repeat guests. There are better Ryokans and Hotels available, even at the same price or higher.

    The garden was beautiful.

    The garden was very beautiful. The Room, despite costing 60,000-70,000 yen, was full of dust and clutter. There were dolls and old decorations in the bedroom, which felt eerie and made it hard to sleep at night. As an established inn, there was no sense of hospitality at all—very disappointing.

    The shabu-shabu for ...

    The shabu-shabu for dinner and the yudofu for breakfast were delicious and satisfying. There was also plenty of food. However, it seemed that the cleaning of the guest room was not done at all, which was very surprising. The toilet, in particular, was unbelievably dirty. Also, the futon was thin and made it difficult to sleep. I will definitely not visit again. I think those who stay at a hotel of a certain rank should avoid it.

    Impressions

    〇About the Room On the first day, I had difficulty connecting to the Ryokan's WiFi, but after calling the front desk, I was able to connect successfully. Regarding the bath in the room, it took some time for hot water to come out because the boiler is located far away. However, if you let it run for a while, hot water will eventually come out. Please note that it is not possible to get hot water immediately (stayed at the end of November). The steam sauna also took a long time to reach the set temperature, even after 1-2 hours, but with enough time, it became usable. I was satisfied with everything else. 〇About Customer Service The Ryokan staff were very friendly and left a very good impression with their customer service attitude. 〇About the Onsen and Bath As mentioned above regarding the bath and steam sauna in the room, the private onsen time felt shorter than expected, but the size was adequate and felt sufficient. 〇About the Facility I am not sure what is being referred to regarding the facility, but I appreciate the point that soft serve ice cream is available for free and can be enjoyed multiple times. 〇About the Meals Both dinner and breakfast were plentiful and tasted good. The dining area is designed to overlook the garden, and sandals are provided, allowing you to enjoy the view, which was perfect. However, the seats near the entrance to the garden were cold, which was the only downside. It would be better if blankets were available.
