    We had a relaxing time.

    The Room, dining area, lobby, and other spaces are generously sized and thoughtfully laid out, allowing us to relax in a very comfortable atmosphere. The staff’s hospitality was also excellent.

    The meal was very disappointing.

    I visited again for the first time in six months. I was impressed by the previous meals (the buffet, especially the fresh vegetables) and had been looking forward to them every day, but the buffet was gone and had been changed to a kaiseki-style set with small portions lined up. It didn’t fill me up and I felt like I hadn’t really eaten, which was disappointing. It may be easier for elderly guests to eat, though... At breakfast, the taro in the miso soup was so hard that chopsticks wouldn’t go through it, and items like the tofu also felt like instant food. The service was as courteous as ever and very pleasant, and it was nice that the Room curtains and carpet had been replaced with new ones.

    Overall, dinner was ...

    Overall, dinner was excellent, but I’m giving 4 stars because the Onsen had a strong chlorine smell and I hoped for a bit more in terms of service. We arrived late at the Accommodation, but were told dinner had to start by 6:00 p.m., so we had to rush. Compared with other Ryokan, it felt a little too early. That said, the dinner itself was wonderful, and we truly enjoyed the luxurious meal. The Room, dining area, and lobby were cold, so I would appreciate it if they could be kept at a more comfortable temperature. (It may be difficult because the spaces are large.) At first I didn’t mind the chlorine smell in the bath, but from my second soak onward my hands constantly smelled of chlorine. It was disappointing to come all this way for an Onsen experience. In the Room, there was no hot water at the sink, and it was cold in the guestroom corridor as well as around the sink and toilet area. For an Accommodation of this class, I would like to see a bit more consideration here. The amenities were excellent. If the chlorine level in the Onsen is reduced, I might consider returning in summer.

    Always excellent.

    Great hot springs, delicious meals, excellent service. I always leave satisfied. However, I feel the vegetables in the miso soup at breakfast were not cooked enough; they were too hard and not tasty. Previously, there was a partial buffet for dinner, but it was not available this time. I hope it will be reinstated. Apologies for being critical every time. It is undoubtedly a wonderful accommodation that I want to visit again!

    Second Stay

    This time, I visited with my mother and husband. Unlike three years ago, breakfast is now served as a Japanese set meal, with options like bread, small dishes, and drinks available for self-service, which was great. After dinner, we took a stroll by the river and enjoyed some stargazing. My mother especially appreciated the spacious bath where she could relax comfortably. The staff mentioned that the peach blossoms in spring are also beautiful, so I hope to visit again if I have the chance.

    Breakfast is buffet-...

    Breakfast is buffet-style, which is different from typical Japanese onsen hotels, but there are plenty of options. The onsen was slightly disappointing as the bath was quite small. After check-in, you can enjoy complimentary drinks and snacks in the lobby.

    Everything was satisfactory.

    We stayed at this accommodation with our family after my father-in-law's memorial service. Although our two sons live separately now, it was a rare and precious time for the four of us to be together, so we chose this place to create wonderful memories. From the warm outdoor welcome in the heat to the valet parking service, everything was excellent. The room was spacious with an open-air bath that we could enjoy anytime we liked—it was truly delightful. It made us happy to sleep together in the same room as a family of four after such a long time. The lounge had a great atmosphere where we enjoyed drinks and ice cream while having meaningful conversations together. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious with plenty of variety, and even though there was so much food, our family finished everything! The private bath in the room as well as the public bath were both clean, and the quality of the water was excellent too. While waiting for my family in the lounge after checking out, I had a pleasant chat with someone who turned out to be the general manager—I’m glad I could express how satisfied we were with this accommodation! We would love to visit again during another memorial occasion. Thank you for providing such wonderful moments!

    Blissful Moments

    It was a one-night, two-day stay that felt worth more than the price. - The staff's hospitality was top-notch. They provided thoughtful and attentive service, even accommodating our 2-year-old child. - Every dish was delicious—absolutely no complaints. We even received a gift of local vegetables upon departure. - The time spent at the facility's bar was fantastic, with unlimited drinks like canned beer and wine. It would surely be enjoyable with close friends as well. - (Not directly related to the accommodation) The stargazing night tour is a must-do! While there’s some weather risk, we experienced an incredible starry sky. The accommodation also helped with arranging mats and tickets for us, which was very convenient.

    First Time at Gentake

    Last year, we stayed at a different accommodation by the river, but my husband wanted to stay at Gentake for its charming atmosphere with the owner lighting torches. In June, we hurriedly made a reservation for a special detached room. Having read everyone's reviews beforehand, we knew the meals included a buffet and were generous in portion size. However, the creative cuisine exceeded our expectations in both taste and presentation; each dish was carefully crafted. We were very satisfied with both the quantity and quality of the food. The staff members were incredibly pleasant and cheerful. The room, facilities, and bath areas were all impeccably clean, with even small details attended to. The room had a fresh scent of new tatami straw mats. The covered parking lot also provided peace of mind. We plan to visit again during cherry blossom season!

    The meals were disappointing.

    The room is relatively spacious and comfortable, but the age of the accommodation is evident in many places. While it claims to have a "Taisho Modern" style, it feels more like it's just old. The staff's service is also lacking; with many young employees, attention to detail seems insufficient. The biggest disappointment is the food—overly seasoned and not tasty. Many dishes appear pre-made and are served cold, failing to highlight the natural flavors of the ingredients. Considering the price charged, this is unacceptable. Meals play a significant role in an accommodation experience, and unfortunately, this was disappointing. I don't think I will use this accommodation again.

    This was my second stay, and I felt that the quality of the dinner had significantly improved. While there is a buffet option, the course meal alone was more than satisfying. The Onsen and other services were impeccable, so I hope they maintain this standard. I look forward to staying here again next time.

    This booking was made through IKYU. Everything was attentive and well taken care of from start to finish. It’s been a while since I found a true 5-star Accommodation. A very satisfying Accommodation. I would like to stay here again.

    Ryokan with a View of the Starry Sky

    From the warm welcome to the checkout, the service was exceptionally attentive, allowing us to enjoy a truly satisfying stay. The meals, ranging from course dishes featuring local ingredients to buffet options, were absolutely delicious. The interior design of the Ryokan, from the entrance to the guest rooms, was full of charm and tradition. The open-air bath with a view of the starry sky was particularly breathtaking. While we enjoyed beautiful starry skies even in summer, we would love to visit again during autumn or winter when they are said to be especially stunning.

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    Thank you for hosting our family gathering! The hot water in the Room was excellent, and I enjoyed relaxing with multiple baths. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious with a wide variety of options, and I ended up eating too much. For those who drink alcohol, the dinner portions outside of the buffet might be more than satisfying. The fresh vegetables at breakfast were especially tasty. The staff's hospitality was bright and pleasant. One small suggestion: it would be convenient to have a small drawstring bag, even made of non-woven fabric, for use when going to the large public bath. I would love to stay again!

    It was a wonderful experience.

    We had a wonderful time on our first trip for our anniversary, and we were very happy. It was so relaxing that we could forget about daily life and unwind. The dinner was delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast as well. The open-air bath in the Room was fantastic, allowing us to relax and escape from the hustle and bustle. Although it rained or was cloudy during our stay, making it unfortunate that we couldn't see the starry sky, we look forward to visiting again on a clear day when stars are visible.

    Welcome drinks and alcoholic beverage menu for dinner.

    The staff's service was excellent. It would be great to have a sauna and cold bath, even if small, in the bathing area. The welcome drink selection, including beer-like beverages, unfamiliar liqueurs, and low-quality wine, could be improved. Guests here likely prefer enjoying quality drinks in moderation rather than consuming large quantities of cheaper options. Additionally, the dinner drink menu is quite limited; enhancing this would further improve the experience. Next time, I am considering visiting your location in Aichi Prefecture.

    I stayed with my parents. The room, bath, and food were excellent! Everything was very clean and well-maintained. The room had snacks, drinks, ice cream, and beer prepared for us. The lobby offered a wide variety of drinks at the drink bar, which we used multiple times. The meals were a mix of Japanese and Western styles, both visually appealing and delicious. The chef who cooked the steak chatted a lot with my father, making him very happy. Breakfast croissants could be reheated to enjoy them hot and fresh—absolutely perfect! Since it was right after Golden Week (GW), we had the large public bath almost entirely to ourselves to enjoy fully. All the staff members had wonderful smiles that left a lasting impression on us. However, my elderly parents mentioned that walking in wooden clogs inside the facility felt slippery and scary for them; providing slippers would be greatly appreciated in such cases. This is an accommodation I would love to stay at again!

    I visit quite often ...

    I visit quite often because I like the hot springs and the meals. I would appreciate it if beer could be placed in the refrigerator or included in the lounge service upon arrival. It's inconvenient as there are no vending machines or shops.

    Ryokan in Japan

    Unlike modern hotels, this is truly a relaxing ryokan. Japanese people find such places calming. When I visited last year, the meals were not half-buffet style, but now the style has changed. Personally, I prefer to enjoy meals at a ryokan without having to leave my seat. While the half-buffet might be more efficient, improving this aspect could make it an even more wonderful ryokan. Overall, I am very satisfied. If I had to point out something, the meal times at 5:30 and 6:00 are a bit too early. It would be nice if the desserts were a bit more creative. But I truly think this is a wonderful ryokan where you can stay in peace. Thank you for your consideration regarding the room. I will visit again next year.

    Thank you for the wonderful service in this beautiful space. I had a luxurious time like never before. However, perhaps due to the season, there were many stink bugs, which was the only discomfort. If there are any measures that can be taken, I would appreciate it.

    We look forward to serving you again.

    It was in July when we first visited, wanting to relax somewhere close, just an hour and a half from Nagoya. We truly had a relaxing time. For our wedding anniversary and my husband's recovery celebration, we both said, "We want to visit Gentake (Gentake) again," and stayed without waiting three months. Although it was the season for starry skies and sea of clouds, we only went out to the morning market briefly and spent the rest of the time relaxing in the room's bath. The wonderful facilities and spaces are just as others have written in their reviews. Additionally, the thoughtfulness of the young staff is something rarely experienced elsewhere. Their service is neither too formal nor too casual, but rather polite, simple, and unpretentious, allowing for genuine human interaction. On this day, a 21-year-old staff member, on their third day of work, greeted us with a shy smile, and we found ourselves looking at them with encouragement rather than as mere recipients of service. We have decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary here again next year. Will we be able to see the starry skies and sea of clouds next time, or will we end up wanting to stay in the room again? We will decide that next year.

    It was a lovely inn ...

    It was a lovely inn where time flowed leisurely. Everyone was very kind and accommodating, thank you very much. I felt the hospitality in the details, such as the corner where you can enjoy free drinks in the lobby, with lovely coffee cups provided. It was nice to be able to enjoy it freely. Since I had heavy luggage, I thought it would have been a bit more helpful if there was an offer for porter service from the room to the lobby. I really liked the quality of the Hirugami Onsen water! However, the floor in the bath area was slippery, so it would be nice if some improvements could be made.

    I can relax very much!

    A magnificent gate greets you at the entrance. The lounge space offers a relaxing view of the courtyard's water feature. A variety of drinks and alcoholic beverages are available. Since there are guests with children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers, it would be more accommodating if there were more decaffeinated options or even just one type of juice, as currently only water is available. The bath is not crowded, allowing for a pleasant experience, and the room is comfortable. There was even ice cream in the freezer. Meals are very enjoyable. However, since the meals are so delightful, I feel that if the miso soup at breakfast and the side dishes on the buffet table were homemade, it would truly be an outstanding selection!

I was able to heal the fatigue of summer with the high-quality and calm service that cannot be experienced at facilities with many guests. The dinner was rich in deliciousness with carefully selected seasonal ingredients, and the breakfast provided energy with local ingredients and meticulous preparation. It was perfect as a healing inn where you can immerse yourself in the gentle and leisurely flow of time. I am truly grateful for the words and actions of each and every staff member. It was an inn I would like to visit again.

    A little trouble

    I was contacted before my stay and was informed that due to operational reasons, the hot spring supply would not be available, and I was asked to either cancel or change the date. I couldn't change the date due to my schedule, so I decided to go as originally planned. Upon arrival, I was relieved to be told that there was hot spring water in the tank, so the indoor bath could be used. The hot spring was good and I was satisfied. The accommodation fee was halved due to this issue, which was lucky in the end, but there was one disappointing point. I think it was partly because there were few guests, but although the plan stated that dinner would be a half-buffet, there was no buffet. There was a breakfast buffet, but that was disappointing. However, I think it was nice that the young staff provided pleasant service and their earnestness was conveyed.
