    Historic Hotel

Stayed for one night. The exterior felt a bit old, but the interior was well-maintained, and the artworks were wonderful. The staff at check-in and others were very accommodating, making my first trip to Kokura a fulfilling experience. One point of concern was that adjusting the shower temperature was difficult, and the Room was very dry. It would be great if these could be improved.

    I made a reservation...

I made a reservation two days before my stay. Staying from Friday to Saturday, even with no meals included, I was satisfied with the price being under 7,000 yen. The antique-style furniture gave a sense of history and elegance, making it a lovely room. Although it was cold and snowing lightly, I strolled through the Japanese garden and found it to be a charming place. Choosing drinks (packs) and amenities was enjoyable and added to the experience. Recently, I've been staying at business hotels often, so staying here was a refreshing change of pace. The front desk staff were very pleasant—thank you!

    There were many issues.

The most surprising issue was finding a single sock, presumably from a previous guest, on the floor near the chair by the window. It made me feel that the Room had not been properly cleaned. Secondly, one piece of loungewear was shrunken and poorly folded, with what appeared to be wood debris attached to it. Thirdly, the sink stopper in the bathroom did not function. Fourthly, the bathtub stopper was loose. Lastly, there was a large painting hung on the wall next to the bed, which could pose a falling hazard during an earthquake and seemed dangerous. While I understand some Facility issues may be due to its age, I appreciate its location and price point overall. I hope these points can be improved upon for future stays.

    Hmm.

My companion checked in earlier, and I arrived a bit later. When I received the card key, there was no explanation about the hotel facilities or amenities at all. My companion had already informed me that it was an overly aged hotel, and upon entering the room, I found it to be in extremely poor condition. There were stains on the bed board that were unsettling, so I requested a room change, which was promptly accommodated—this was appreciated. I had booked a garden-view room; however, the new room we moved to was at the end of the hallway and did not offer much of a view. Since I made my reservation relatively early, it would have been better if they had initially provided a cleaner room with an explanation like "the view may not be great from this window" rather than assigning us to what felt like a haunted house. The photos posted online are far too flattering. There was also no information provided about the public bath facilities, so we couldn’t use them during our stay. It feels somewhat deceptive. I sincerely hope these issues will be improved in the future.

Hotel with a Beautiful Garden - Best Spot

Conveniently located near the station and Tanga Market, featuring a beautiful Japanese garden. The staff are very polite and highly recommended!

    Great!

I had a very comfortable stay. The well-maintained Japanese garden was stunningly beautiful! Enjoying breakfast with such an artistic view right in front of me was truly delightful. The delicious cuisine from various parts of Kyushu was enjoyable as well. I would love to visit again.

The bathroom is small, but the bed is very comfortable.

Stayed in a Twin Room with a garden view for 3 nights. The bathroom is small and a bit difficult to use, but the view is great, and the bed was very comfortable. The room's interior has a retro Showa-era vibe.

Thank you for your kind support.

It was a one-night stay during a heavy snowstorm warning, and I stayed with three friends, one of whom lives here and the others who came from afar. I was worried about whether we could stay due to flight and bullet train information, so I called to inquire about the possibility of canceling on the day before or the day of our stay. I was grateful that they kindly accommodated sudden cancellations in this situation. All three Single Rooms had different flooring, walls, and curtains, which was very nice. Although the Room was small, the view of the garden made it feel less cramped. I would like to recommend this place to my friends again. It would be great if more attention could be given to cleaning every corner and addressing mold on the bathroom doors.

Prompt and efficient front desk service!

At check-in, there was a long line with many international guests (groups), but a staff member came out and helped temporarily to assist us.

    Thank you for your h...

Thank you for your hospitality. Since it was a budget plan, I expected some compromises. The room was old and had some peeling walls, but it was clean, and the view of the garden from the room's window was wonderful. The staff's manners were proper, and the facilities outside the room were clean, so I assume weddings and banquets are the main uses. Please consider renovating the room a little more.

It's disappointing that the furniture's paint is peeling and mold has been left on the bathtub door.

I used it once more than 10 years ago when it had a different name, but the three-tiered Japanese breakfast was poor in both quality and quantity, so I have been using another hotel since then. The breakfast at another Art Hotel was good, so I thought it would be better if it was the same chain and made a reservation. Not only did it become a buffet style, but there were also several dishes with a little extra effort from the hotel's kitchen and local specialty dishes, which was a remarkable improvement. However, the miso soup ingredients were shortcuts typical of a Business Hotel, such as dried green onions and wheat gluten, and the coffee lacked the necessary steaming time to make it delicious, so consideration for important supporting roles was lacking. I don't mind the age of the building, but it was disappointing that easily maintainable areas, such as mold on the bathtub door and peeling paint on furniture, were left unattended.

    The Facility is old,...

The Facility is old, but it's acceptable if you think of it as a Business Hotel. The location is close to Tanga Market, making it great for exploring the city.

An old hotel in many ways.

I stayed because the price was cheap, but the room smelled musty, so I requested a room change. I am grateful that they kindly moved me to a larger room. However, there were some frustrating experiences during the initial check-in, and I think there is a need for better training of the younger staff.

    The cost performance is outstanding.

I used the facility without high expectations, but although the equipment was a bit old, it was cleaned and maintained meticulously, allowing me to have a comfortable stay. The garden was vast and offered a wonderful view. I was able to relax and rest my body, thank you very much.

Perfect for both business and sightseeing.

This was my third stay, and I had a very pleasant time. It's close to Kokura Station, making it convenient for sightseeing at places like Kokura Castle and Tanga Market. The location is great for going out for a drink as it's near the downtown area. However, the surroundings of the hotel are very quiet and comfortable. There are amenities lined up right next to the front desk, which is convenient as you can use what you like. The room is not new, but it was well-cleaned and nice. There is a fairly large Japanese garden, which was very beautiful. Since there was a restaurant right next to it, I might consider having breakfast included next time I stay.
