We were completely satisfied with the Onsen, the meals, and the service!

This is my favorite Ryokan in Izu Kogen. It was my first stay in a while. This time, my eldest daughter—who usually works extremely hard as a nurse—was able to take an unusual long weekend and said she wanted to celebrate my birthday, so we decided to stay here. There are nine private baths, each with a different style. My daughter was thrilled and kept saying, “I’m going to try them all!” At dinner, the kinmedai (splendid alfonsino) I specially requested was huge, and she happily said, “Dad, this fish is delicious!” She smiled the entire trip. The one who felt most healed by this relaxing getaway was me—the father. The staff’s service was truly top-notch, and our stay was very comfortable. I’d love to visit again. Next time, I’ll probably get scolded if I don’t bring my younger daughter too.

It was an excellent Accommodation. Since there is a lot of outdoor walking, I think it would be better to have both a samue jacket and pants.

The private open-air bath is fully booked and unavailable.

I was looking forward to being able to use all seven private open-air baths freely, but the main baths were always full and I couldn’t get in. I only managed to use a small bath at the far end late at night. It felt like a waste of the high Accommodation Fee. During peak season, you might consider making reservations for the main private open-air baths. I don’t plan to stay again, so it doesn’t really matter to me.

    A bit disappointing

I stayed in a Western-style Room. The creaking sound of the door and the outdated lighting in the Room were noticeable. Since there was no bath in the Room, I felt that towels and amenities were limited. Although there are several private baths available, it was inconvenient not knowing their availability without checking in person.

    The welcome service is exceptional.

The aroma service using locally sourced kuromoji upon arrival and the forest tea blended with kuromoji (pot service) were truly impressive. The room had a strong incense smell upon entry, which was initially mistaken for cigarette smoke. It was promptly addressed, but the old scent of the room lingered slightly afterward. The futon-laying service was provided, and the bedding was very fluffy and comfortable. The vast grounds offer various baths to enjoy; unfortunately, it rained at night. However, there were two baths conveniently located near the building that could be used multiple times, which was great. The next day, I visited a distant bath I hadn't tried yet and managed to experience all of them. Each bath has its unique features—spacious garden-style baths or semi-open-air and open-air options—all offering excellent water quality. The hot spring source is 300 meters away (at 60°C), so while it cools slightly during transport, it's still quite hot and needs to be diluted with water due to its high temperature. With abundant water flow directly from the source despite its age, these well-maintained baths are undoubtedly a highlight of this accommodation. However, there are many slopes and stairs on-site combined with hot water temperatures that might be challenging for older guests. I had hoped to purchase kuromoji essential oil from the initial aroma service or kuromoji pickles served during meals as souvenirs after seeing them on their website; however, they have been out of stock for some time now—a disappointment. Managing such expansive grounds filled with forests and baths must be challenging overall; however, given that most facilities (except for newer buildings) feel outdated in design or construction upgrades may be necessary. (The property seems more suited towards regular patrons or international visitors rather than younger guests.) While meals were satisfactory without anything particularly noteworthy compared to other accommodations putting significant effort into dining experiences recently—the brown rice porridge served at breakfast stood out positively. Visiting nearby onsens monthly makes me feel this place is relatively expensive. (The price of an old Japanese-style room here is comparable to rooms with private open-air baths at other accommodations.) Given its prime location near Izu-Kogen Station along with direct-source flowing hot springs featuring seven different-sized bathing areas—it’s understandable but still feels costly overall. It seems their president's eldest son recently joined management—I hope he brings positive changes moving forward!

    The food is delicious...

I had visited the Onsen for a day trip before, but this was my first time staying overnight. The room felt slightly old, but it was spacious and well-designed with a relaxing view of the forest. I could truly unwind here. What surprised me was the dinner—the menu rivaled that of a high-end restaurant. Every dish was carefully prepared, and for breakfast, I chose Western-style cuisine, which still carried subtle Japanese touches in each item. It was delicious. The unique aroma of kuromoji brought a sense of calmness, and the Onsen offered an authentic experience with its strong yet invigorating natural flow.

    The meals are incredibly delicious.

I stayed for one night as I had errands nearby. At first, I thought the Room didn't have a private bath, but there were so many private baths available that it was fun to go bath-hopping! The balcony of the Room also offered a lovely view of the trees, making me feel like I didn’t need to visit Ubud. Moreover, dinner exceeded my expectations with its incredible taste! The dishes were perfect for me as they didn’t rely solely on sashimi or meat (though those were delicious too). I’m looking forward to visiting again!

    Relaxed.

On February 28th, we enjoyed the Kawazu cherry blossoms, followed by a visit to Omuroyama the next day. This was our second stay at Hanahubuki after a very comfortable first visit. Inviting my friend turned out to be a great decision. Dinner was perfectly balanced in both quality and quantity, with delicious warabi mochi for dessert. For breakfast, we had Western-style dishes but could also choose Japanese or Chinese options. The variety of outdoor baths was delightful as well. Thank you for providing us with a Room with the perfect view during cherry blossom season!

    Satisfied!

The meals were delicious, and the room was clean! It was enjoyable to explore the onsen, and additionally, having a private bath adjacent to each room with towels and other amenities provided was very convenient for guests.

    Healing Stays, Hana Fubuki-san

Last year, I couldn't visit, but after two years, I was able to return to Hanahubuki. The onsen in the forest and the room were very soothing. It was a very cold day, but after warming up in the onsen and taking a walk through the forest to the next onsen, I didn't feel the cold at all and it was very pleasant. Except for one of the newly built onsens, I was able to visit all of them this time. I love each of these charming onsens with their unique atmospheres. Also, I am fond of how each room's interior matches its name. The meals using seasonal and local ingredients were seasoned perfectly to my taste and were delicious. Looking back at photos taken at Hanahubuki (Hanahubuki), I've realized that since 2016 I've visited every year except for 2018 and 2024. In the early days, there used to be meat dishes like steak included in meals. I remember they were very delicious. Lately, it seems there are fewer meat dishes... I'd be happy if you could include some meat dishes in your course menu. I usually visit during early spring in February or March, so next time I'd like to change seasons and definitely visit again. The onsen in the forest and Stays provided a great refreshment experience. Thank you very much.

    I used the Multiple ...

I used the Multiple Night Stay Plan and was able to spend a very relaxing time. Thank you for your kind assistance. The meals were very delicious, and I was very satisfied on both days. The Onsen was also pleasant. I think the "Forest Meditation Room" is a wonderful idea, but since there was a smoking area in front of the door and people were there all the time, I couldn't relax. I would appreciate it if you could reconsider the location of the smoking area. Also, it would be reassuring if this place could be locked. After checking out, I was able to leave my luggage with you, so I could comfortably go to see the waterfall. Thank you. I would like to visit again on a sunny day.
