    Thank you very much.

I gave my elderly mother, who can go anywhere on her own, a solo trip as a gift. When she returned home, she was truly delighted and spoke very highly of the wonderful service provided by the Ryokan staff. The meals were also delicious, and above all, it seems she was able to relax completely. Thank you very much. I plan to give her another trip as a gift once more within this year, and I would appreciate your kind support when that time comes.

It was great that the bathroom was close by!

We were glad to have a Room close to the bath on the first floor. Both the large public bath and the family bath were nearby, and we used them four times. The simmered golden eye snapper had the best seasoning we’ve ever had. One thing: while we liked the semi-private dining area, we could hear conversations from the next table.

    A charming traditional Japanese Ryokan

Although I stayed alone, everyone at the Accommodation welcomed me warmly, and I had a very comfortable stay. The Room I stayed in was said to date back to the Taisho era in the main building; it was full of character and beautifully maintained, which made it even more special and gave me a wonderful sense of escape from everyday life. I also love green tea, so I was happy that they provided a teapot and loose-leaf tea rather than tea bags. Breakfast and dinner were served in a semi-private setting, so I could relax and enjoy my meals without worrying about others. This is a classic Japanese-style Ryokan with calm, heartfelt hospitality. I would love to visit again.

    This is a wonderful accommodation.

A solo trip as a woman. I booked the Room-assigned Plan, but thank you for letting me stay in a wonderfully spacious and charming Room on the second floor of the main building, a designated Tangible Cultural Property. The greenery outside the window and the birdsong were incredibly soothing. Everything was excellent—the guest Room, the cuisine, the Onsen, and the service. In a good way, it still feels just like the Showa era. The hospitality in particular was outstanding: attentive without being intrusive. There are two private baths and one public bath (on the smaller side), each with its own distinct atmosphere. Since it was a weekday, I was able to enjoy an Onsen tour with almost no waiting time. The water left my skin smooth and silky, and the temperature was just right. The dining area is not a large hall; it’s semi-private seating separated by tall partitions with music playing, so I could relax and enjoy my meal without worrying about others. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and delicious, and the portions were more than enough for me—almost too much. When I checked out, all of your staff kindly saw me off, and I felt this is truly a wonderful Accommodation that’s hard to find these days. Seeing fireflies at Manyo Park right in front of you—and having a brief chat with your elegant proprietress—also became cherished memories. I’m not used to traveling by train, but there are plenty of local buses from Yugawara Station, making it very easy to get there—and I enjoyed the view from the window as well. I would love to return again. Thank you very much for everything.

Stayed in Room 52, a designated Important Cultural Property. The pillars, the wavy glass, the transoms, and the alcove were all wonderful. The fresh flowers were beautiful too. I’m not an expert, but it just felt so nice and calming. I’m grateful that it has been so carefully maintained and that we were able to stay here. All of the staff were kind, and their warm atmosphere really came through. However, it seemed very busy over the holiday weekend. I would have loved to hear a little more about the Room. We thoroughly enjoyed both the Onsen and the meals. Thank you very much.

This was my first time staying here.

The hospitality was excellent, and I felt very relaxed (even as a man). The meals were delicious, but it was disappointing that the sashimi platter had a lot of tuna. The private Onsen was also great, so I will visit again.

A relaxing bath and delicious meals

As always, staying at Itoya is truly relaxing. That’s because we trust this Accommodation. This time, due to heavy snowfall, the buses were suspended and there was a long line at the taxi stand in front of the station. Times like these really show the quality of a Ryokan. We had already received an email from the Accommodation while we were on the train, and they came to pick us up at the station. Instead of getting irritated and waiting a long time for a taxi in the cold, we arrived safely at the Ryokan and were able to soak in the Onsen right away—so rather than feeling tired, we were completely satisfied. The semi-open-air bath is available anytime when it’s not occupied, which makes it very easygoing. We enjoyed it many times. Dinner after a short nap was carefully prepared dish by dish, and as always, the dashi was delicious! The hot pot ends with rice porridge to finish. The grilled fish at breakfast is perfectly cooked—among Accommodations in Yugawara it’s outstanding—so please give it a try. It became a well-deserved Onsen therapy reward for our whole family after working hard through the year-end and New Year holidays. Thank you very much. We’ll be back again.

Both the service and the meals were completely satisfying.

This was my first stay here. All of the staff were consistently friendly and welcoming with warm smiles, making my stay truly pleasant. The meals were also excellent, featuring fresh and luxurious sashimi boat platters that I thoroughly enjoyed. Personally, I also appreciated the calm atmosphere, as there were no overseas guests during my stay. It felt like a classic, traditional Japanese Ryokan, and I hope it will continue to build on its history for many years to come. I would love to visit again.

This is a true Japanese-style Ryokan.

Facing the street, it’s easy to find and also close to Manyo Park. It’s wonderful to be able to stay in a designated cultural property Room at this price. We rarely ran into other guests in either the large public bath or the private bath, so we were able to use them comfortably. The dining location, menu, and portion sizes were all just right—delicious meals in a cozy setting. In our Room at check-in, and again at every meal, they brewed tea for us using a teapot. These days it’s often just a set of tea leaves left out, and there are fewer opportunities even at a Ryokan to have tea brewed for you, so I was very happy with this kind of personal service. I slightly twisted my ankle while out walking, and they provided a cold compress (perhaps it belonged to one of the staff), which I really appreciated. Even though it’s an old building, it has great character, and with its spacious layout we were able to enjoy a truly luxurious, relaxing time. I’d love to stay in another Room next time.

    A relaxing accommodation.

The Onsen is fed directly from the source and continuously flowing, so you can relax and warm up at your own pace. Every dish was delicious, and above all, all the staff are well trained and provided heartfelt hospitality, so I was able to unwind and was truly satisfied.

    Very satisfied

We visited to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. The private open-air bath was absolutely wonderful. I was amazed that my dry skin became so smooth the next day! The meals were delicious, and we were very satisfied. We would love to visit again!

    It was the perfect holiday.

I stayed with my husband for one night on the second floor of the new building. It was a lovely Room, spacious and with the fresh scent of new tatami. Last time, we dined on the first floor, but this time both meals were served in our Room, which made us very happy. The sashimi platter was abundant, the steamed abalone was large and tender, and the simmered dish was light and refreshing—absolutely perfect! We would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

It was a very nice accommodation.

I stayed for one night with a friend. The staff guided us to our Room, and as we entered, the soothing scent of tatami welcomed us. The Room was clean and well-maintained, allowing us to enjoy a comfortable stay. There were two types of private open-air Onsen baths available, which could be used freely if unoccupied—a feature we truly appreciated. The water quality was excellent and very relaxing. Both dinner and breakfast were served in semi-private rooms, ensuring privacy and allowing us to enjoy our meals without worrying about others around us. The food was exceptional in both taste and quantity—everything was delicious, especially the rice! I ended up having three extra servings at breakfast. After enjoying the Onsen, cold water was thoughtfully provided in the lounge area near the lobby—a nice touch indeed. The entire facility had a calm and serene atmosphere throughout, which perfectly matched our desire for peace and quiet. We had a wonderfully relaxing time here—thank you very much!

The Room was clean and well maintained, the food was delicious, and the staff at the Ryokan were kind and attentive, making us want to come back again and again. We also loved the Onsen—it warmed us up, and this is an Accommodation we truly enjoy.

A Precious Showa Era Accommodation with Hot Springs

I stayed on a weekday and enjoyed a relaxing time without any crowds. The Room was in the main building, and using the stairs might be a bit challenging for those with knee or leg pain. Despite its historical charm, the Room was clean and comfortable. The bath facilities included two private baths and separate baths for men and women. I was able to use the private bath without any waiting. The private bath, though small, had a semi-open-air design with a charming atmosphere. However, please note that during this season, mosquitoes may come in from outside in the semi-open-air area. The meals were beautifully presented and delicious, with just the right portion sizes. I would love to visit again!

You can truly unwind and recharge.

The Onsen suited me perfectly, the Ryokan staff provide outstanding service, and I stay here regularly for the meals as well, which are truly delicious. This is an Accommodation that helps me recover from work fatigue and makes me feel ready to do my best again.

A wonderful accommodation you'd want to visit again.

We stayed as a three-generation family and had a wonderful experience. The building, exhibits, and historical ambiance were charming and enjoyable. The food was also incredibly delicious. We especially appreciated the two private open-air baths, which were very convenient. The indoor bath was spacious and relaxing as well. The service of providing cold water in the lobby was a nice touch. The first-floor bedroom had a calming atmosphere, with views of impressive stone lanterns through the trees that added to the tranquility. Above all, we were delighted by the heartfelt hospitality of the staff members.

    Showa Accommodation

The meals were very delicious and among the accommodations I have used so far, I believe the quality was relatively high. On the other hand, the building, facilities, and services all had a nostalgic Showa-era feel, for better or worse. There were many steps inside the facility, which made me feel uneasy about bringing my elderly parents.

It was an unforgettable accommodation that makes you want to visit again.

I stayed at Itoya Accommodation for a solo trip. Although I was a bit nervous about staying alone at a Ryokan, the warm welcome made me feel comfortable and allowed me to relax. Meals were served in semi-private rooms, and I could also use the private open-air bath, which let me enjoy my time without worrying about others around me. The room in the new building had large windows that left an impression; just sitting by the window and gazing outside was incredibly soothing. At night, I could faintly hear drum sounds from what seemed like a nearby festival, adding to the charm of my stay. The portion sizes of the meals were just right—not too much as I had worried—and everything was delicious. Though I regret leaving some rice behind, overall it was a very satisfying dining experience. The location is easily accessible from Tokyo and perfect for a quick weekend getaway. It helped ease some of my work fatigue and allowed me to refresh both mentally and physically. I'd love to visit again during another season. Although I regret not being able to say goodbye personally at the end of my stay, I'd like to express my gratitude for how kind and attentive the staff were throughout my visit. Thank you very much!

A special holiday at an Accommodation registered as a cultural property

Excellent hot spring quality. The water, with its gentle temperature, feels soothing on the skin and truly helps relieve fatigue. In addition to the indoor bath, there are open-air and semi-open-air baths available. While not very large, they can be used freely when not occupied by others, with the open-air bath being particularly recommended. The accommodation is a registered cultural property, allowing you to experience history through details like the window frames and room decor. Meals are served in partitioned spaces for privacy and were both plentiful and satisfying in quality. This time, I extended my trip for work to stay here, but it’s conveniently accessible from Tokyo. I look forward to visiting again!

I was able to recover from my fatigue.

I stayed after finishing work in the morning, and as always, the delicious meals and the Onsen helped me relax and recover from my fatigue. The Room was clean and conveniently located near the main building’s bath, and when I entered, the soothing scent of tatami made it easy to unwind. Thanks to the staff’s kind and attentive service, I felt like I want to come again. Thank you very much.

I believe this is the best accommodation in Yugawara Onsen.

I have stayed here before, and every time the food is delicious, the service is excellent, and whenever I stay in Yugawara, I always choose Itoya. I was also able to see the nearby firefly festival, which became a wonderful memory. Thank you very much.

    It was excellent!

During my previous visit to Yugawara, I discovered Itoya while strolling around. It caught my eye with its exterior, so I was thrilled to stay there this time. I booked the Main Building/New Wing "Leave it to Us" course and wondered which one I would be assigned to. To my delight, I was guided to the Main Building, which had particularly piqued my interest! The space was spacious and serene, allowing me to relax fully. The meals at Itoya were incredibly delicious and visually delightful, making me excited for each dish. The steamed clam hot pot was especially outstanding. However, the background music in the dining area kept repeating endlessly, which slightly bothered me (this was the only thing that caught my attention). The hospitality from the proprietress, manager, and staff was excellent. This level of service truly reflects what you’d expect from a long-established Ryokan. They guided us from the first floor to our dining area during meal times and even saw us off outside upon departure—it made me very happy. I definitely want to visit again!

    This is a wonderful accommodation.

I have stayed here several times. Although it is a historic Ryokan, what stands out even more is the warm hospitality of the proprietress and staff, their attentive service, and the comfortable atmosphere. The meals were perfectly portioned, beautifully presented, and delicious—I enjoyed every last bite. The Room was kept very clean, and the Onsen water suited my skin well. It is an Accommodation that always makes me want to return.

    It is a good inn.

It is a ryokan with a sense of history. The wooden architecture was polished to perfection. The private bath can be reserved for personal use at any time if available by hanging a sign outside. Please refer to the inn's page as the usage time may change. There is no air conditioning or fans in the dressing room of the large public bath, so it is very hot during high-temperature periods. If you take a long bath, you won't stop sweating at all. I thought it would be good to have a cold drink service here to prevent overheating. Meals are served hot when they should be hot and properly chilled when they should be cold. It was very nice to be informed of the approximate time when the next dish would be served. They also accommodate allergies, so you can feel at ease. - It is good to contact them in advance From the voices of those around, it seemed possible to have rice brought at the beginning of the meal. I think this is a considerate gesture for those who do not drink alcohol. It was a good inn where you can feel the attentiveness of a long-established ryokan.

    I was very satisfied.

We stayed for one night as a family of five. First of all, the customer service is excellent. Everyone who assisted us left a good impression. The inn was quiet and comfortable. The room had a "good old" feel to it. We weren't bothered by any noise at all. However, the stairs are steep, which might be challenging for the elderly. The amount of food was just right and it was very delicious. It would have been nice to have a menu for breakfast as well, but we were satisfied. In addition to the large public bath, there were two family baths (private baths) available, and we could use them without waiting. The water was a bit lukewarm, but that might be because it was summer. There is a Lawson convenience store a few minutes away by car. Overall, we were very satisfied and would love to visit this inn again!
