    It was a very cozy accommodation.

    I’m truly sorry for having to rush you due to our circumstances, but the meal was absolutely wonderful—everything from the tableware and presentation to the flavors. I only wish we could have enjoyed it more slowly. My son also said he definitely wants to visit again, so next time I hope we can invite my daughter and her husband and come together. We stayed in a Room on the 3rd floor. I can go up and down stairs normally now, but when my knees were bad, stairs were not possible for me. It may be a bit difficult for guests who need a cane.

    A Housewife’s Day Off

    I truly enjoyed a well-deserved break from my usual routine. I decided to visit after reading the Reviews, and it really was an auberge exactly as described. There were so many beautifully presented, delicious dishes that let you feel the seasons. Even the tableware and the flowers used as garnishes were thoughtfully chosen—every meal was a delight for both the eyes and the palate, at both dinner and breakfast. This time I came mainly for the cuisine and didn’t place much importance on the Room or bath, but everything was wonderful: the washbasin area and bathroom, renovated a few years ago, were spotless and beautiful. The Room was compact, yet very calming. Watching colorful koi swimming in the river outside the window, along with birds passing by, made for truly blissful moments. Even after checkout, the owner couple kindly saw us off together until our car drove away, and we left feeling reluctant to say goodbye to this Accommodation. Next time I’d love to come for the abalone course. Thank you very much for your hospitality. Please trust the Reviews and give it a try—I highly recommend it.

    Gourmet Dining and Relaxation

    I returned for the first time in 10 years, inspired by memories of the delicious meals. The renovated bath was wonderfully relaxing with its pleasant woody aroma, and I enjoyed it many times during my stay. The cuisine was outstanding—beautifully presented and full of flavor, using a wide variety of ingredients. Next time, I’d like to visit again sooner and in a different season. I was able to unwind at a leisurely pace over two days. Thank you very much.

    Exquisite cuisine that will leave you in awe!

    This is my fourth visit to Auberge Hanaki. I am always impressed by the beauty and deliciousness of the cuisine! The warm hospitality of the staff and the chance to see a kingfisher brought healing to both my body and soul!

    I had a relaxing stay.

    I had always wanted to visit Hanaki. Check-in was a delightful experience as I enjoyed tea and sweets at the counter adorned with a beautiful collection of coffee cups and tableware. Although the accommodation has been operating for over 30 years, the room with an onsen bath made of Izu stone and cypress has been renovated, making it spacious and clean. The bathroom area was spotless, and amenities were well-stocked. The onsen had just the right temperature, allowing me to enjoy multiple relaxing baths. The meals were something I had been looking forward to, and they did not disappoint. Dinner was a fusion of Japanese and Western cuisine, beautifully presented in elegant dishes and glasses that added charm to each course. Every dish was delicious, leaving me excited about what would come next. Breakfast featured an array of side dishes so plentiful that it was hard to finish everything; each item was carefully prepared, perfectly complementing the rice. Both dinner and breakfast exceeded my expectations. As this accommodation only hosts two groups per day, I initially felt slightly nervous thinking there might be many regular guests; however, both the hostess and her husband were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Their warm hospitality made my stay comfortable and enjoyable. I heard that their menu changes with the seasons, so I look forward to visiting again in the future!

    A Gourmet Property

    The Property is located along the Ito River, which flows south from the town of Ito. Nestled in a quiet residential area, separated from the main street and across a bridge, it has the appearance of a typical family home. You can park your car at the entrance and step into the Property through a doorway adorned with a traditional curtain. Inside, there is a counter where you can enjoy tea and sweets while checking in. There is one Room each on the second and third floors, accessible by stairs. From the large windows, you can overlook the river to the west. Although it is a river in the middle of the town, it is a clear stream where you can hear the sound of the water, and birds often visit. The Rooms are clean Japanese-style Rooms with well-functioning air conditioning. On the north side of the Room, there is an open-view bath, a washbasin, and a toilet. The bath is a rectangular Izu stone tub with a cypress edge, measuring over 1 meter in both length and width, allowing you to soak comfortably up to your shoulders. The water is always at the perfect temperature. After changing into a samue (traditional Japanese workwear), you can enjoy a bottle of beer from the refrigerator. Dinner is served in a Western-style or Japanese-style Room located at the back of the counter area, both offering views of the river. These Rooms are spacious enough for several people to dine together and are furnished with tasteful furniture and decor. The ambiance of the Room, the tableware, the menu, and the presentation of the dishes are all beautifully arranged, offering a gourmet experience. A menu listing only the main ingredients is provided, inviting you to imagine the next dish to come. The courses, a delightful surprise, continue with a well-balanced mix of Japanese and Western cuisine. Pairing the dishes with sake or red and white wine enhances the experience. The portions are just right, leaving you satisfied. For a late-night snack, rice balls are also provided. Breakfast is served in a different Room from dinner, allowing you to enjoy both the Western and Japanese-style Rooms during your stay. In the bright morning light, you may notice the well-maintained garden in front of the Room. The freshly cooked rice and side dishes are all freshly prepared. This is an auberge run by a family of professional chefs, offering a personal touch. It’s a place you’ll want to visit again and again.

    A property where you can spend time leisurely.

    I visited for the first time at Christmas. With only two groups, it was really quiet, and we had our meal in a private room. The proprietress had worked in design, so the Room's decor and interior were sophisticated and very lovely. Attention to detail was evident in places like the entrance and corridors. The meal was a menu of just ingredients, so imagining what would come out was very enjoyable. Of course, it was very delicious. Each piece of tableware was charming and beautiful, allowing us to enjoy the meal visually as well. On the way back, I couldn't resist purchasing wooden mats for the family and glasses. I think they will be useful in each season from now on. I would like to visit again in a different season.
