    In the forest

    The spacious, lovely Room and the thoughtfully prepared wonderful meals, along with the friendly staff, made our stay truly exceptional. We were looking forward to the open-air bath, but at night many small moths flew in and I couldn’t use it. Since it’s in the forest, it may be unavoidable, but it was disappointing. It’s not a place we can visit often, but it’s a Hotel we definitely want to return to. Thank you very much.

    Great.

    Because the bath for this Room is outdoors, it feels a little scary, but it was fine. The meals came with good service and generous portions. The bed didn’t seem to be a particular focus. Overall, nothing especially good or bad—best for those who prioritize the meals.

    Relax and unwind.

    I was looking for an Onsen Accommodation where I could enjoy French cuisine. I was happy they also celebrated my birthday. Every French dish was delicious. The Onsen would have been even better if the window could be fitted with a screen, like a semi-open-air bath. It seems there are Rooms with private open-air baths in the higher-priced category, but since that would raise the cost, I made a Reservation for the most affordable Room. The Room was kept very clean, had a view of the forest, and was perfect for a quiet getaway. The bread was incredibly good too—I’m already craving it again. If I have the chance, I’d love to stay again.

    Yufuin + Sauna + French Cuisine = An Extraordinary Escape

    We had a very pleasant stay and would definitely like to stay again. If I had to mention one thing, it would be that the schedule feels a bit tight: check-in is from 4:00 PM and dinner is fixed at 6:00 PM, so there isn’t much time to relax. Since dinner is French cuisine, it’s a formal meal with proper attire. Of course that’s expected, but after arriving and using the bath/sauna, you need to get dressed again—put on socks and shoes—which can feel a bit inconvenient (for example, deciding whether to put the same socks back on). The French dinner wasn’t particularly special, but it was tasty and we enjoyed it. Breakfast is also fixed at 9:00 AM. With check-out at 11:00 AM, we ended up rushing after breakfast. If check-in is at 4:00 PM, it would be nice to have a 12:00 PM check-out, or alternatively an earlier check-in such as from 3:00 PM, so we could enjoy a more relaxed schedule.

    The autumn foliage you can see at breakfast is stunning.

    Both dinner and breakfast were more than satisfying. The autumn leaves visible at breakfast were absolutely stunning. Everything else was nothing special—just average.

    Excellent hospitality and facilities

    I had reserved a detached Room, but upgraded to the main building because my wife gets cold easily. The main building Room has underfloor heating throughout, and the lighting, air conditioning, and other amenities are excellent. It was so comfortable that I didn’t mind the higher price at all. We arrived by car, but the location was hard to find. When you get close using your car navigation system, with Yufuin behind you, look for a dark brown sign on the left side of a gentle uphill slope; go down the narrow downhill road beyond it and you’ll find it. All of the staff were very kind, and it was a stay that became a wonderful memory. I don’t think I’ll be able to stay at any other Hotel anymore.

    Delicious meals and wonderful hospitality

    We visited for my husband’s birthday trip. The service was attentive, and the food was delicious. I would have liked a bit more volume at dinner, but each dish was delicate, beautiful, and carefully prepared, and we enjoyed it very much. Breakfast was plentiful and we were completely satisfied! The restaurant is spotless and really lifts your mood—perfect for an anniversary date. They also prepared a wonderful celebratory dessert plate with music from a music box, and we were so happy they kindly helped with our surprise as well. From the phone call to the day of our stay, the staff were consistently warm, smiling, and thoughtful—we truly felt their sincerity. The Room was spacious, clean, and tidy, but more ordinary than I expected. It felt a bit dated, which was slightly disappointing. Since the sofa is white, it also seemed a little worn—like it has been used for quite some time. I thought it would feel more special than it did; overall it just felt like a standard Room. It didn’t make me want to stay in that same Room again. The open-air bath was excellent. Soaking in an open-air bath in the forest felt amazing. We could relax both at night and in the morning—it was very soothing. It was also nice that we could enjoy two free drinks each of beer, kabosu highball (citrus), and pear juice in the Room. If we could stay in another newer and nicer Room next time, it might be 100/100 overall. Other than the Room itself, we were extremely satisfied! It became a wonderful birthday trip. Thank you very much!!

    As the title says. In addition, the bathroom is a unit bath. Choosing a cheaper Room was a big mistake.

    Girls’ Night Out

    This was my first time staying here, and it turned into a truly relaxing and satisfying girls’ trip surrounded by nature. The staff’s warm, welcoming hospitality and the comfort of the Room were outstanding. The meals were also wonderful, and we enjoyed them in a calm atmosphere. I was also pleasantly surprised by the price. Just one thing: the bumpy road right in front of the Accommodation felt a little scary. Other than that, everything was perfect! I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    A Wonderful Stay

    The clean and stylish guest rooms feature a Nordic-style sauna, an Onsen (circulating system ensuring constant cleanliness), and an indoor bath, creating a picturesque interior. The view of the forest right in front was truly soothing. Meals consisted of colorful and healthy French cuisine. The staff provided refined service with friendly smiles, making each interaction pleasant.

    A Hotel I would like to stay at again someday.

    It was a Hotel where you could enjoy tranquility. There were no concerns about insects, and it felt well-maintained. The meals were very delicious, and I had a wonderful time! Thank you very much.

    Stayed in a room wit...

    Stayed in a room with a sauna The forest view right in front of us made us look forward to a relaxing time. Right after check-in, we used the sauna and had the most amazing relaxation. It was pure happiness. Then, we headed to dinner. The dinner was absolutely satisfying in both content and taste—no complaints at all. Returning to the room, ready for another round of relaxation, we were met with a swarm of insects... It seemed they were attracted by the lights as night fell... Outdoor bathing was out of the question, and even using the outdoor open-air bath became impossible... Accepting that this couldn't be helped, we decided to try again after sunrise. However, it turned out that the sauna operates only from 16:00-24:00 and is not available in the morning... The nature was wonderful, and the starry sky was breathtaking—it was what I looked forward to most. So this came as quite a disappointment... I wrote this review hoping it could lead to some improvements.

    A Relaxing Space

    Seeking relaxation with my daughter, we enjoyed a slow-paced stay doing nothing. The view of the trees from the window, the open-air bath, and the meals were all wonderful. I would love to visit again as a treat for myself. Although we arrived earlier than expected, the staff welcomed us warmly and their smiles were truly comforting. Thank you so much! Food lovers will also be satisfied here. Definitely a repeat! (laughs)

    I stayed at the acco...

    I stayed at the accommodation just before the rainy season. Nestled in the forest, the fresh greenery and tranquil surroundings were delightful. The staff welcomed us with warm smiles and maintained a perfect balance of attentiveness and distance. The meals were exceptional, with a glass wall offering a stunning view of the forest, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. The room was just the right size for my mother and me, and the view of the forest from the bath was truly enchanting. Amenities seemed to be thoughtfully provided without being overly extravagant. However, it would have been convenient to have hooks for towels or tissues around the sink area. While I found it slightly disappointing that only stick-type café latte and tea were available, this was far outweighed by the excellent cuisine, attentive staff, and beautiful location. I would love to stay here again!

    A hotel that was great in the past.

    The location might make you a bit unsure if you're on the right path when driving, but there are signs to guide you, so just follow them without worry! The road feels like it's made just for this Hotel, adding an exciting touch to the journey. Since there's nothing around, it's the perfect spot for a relaxing staycation! The Room we stayed in had an open-air bath and sauna. With no distractions nearby, we could fully enjoy our time in the Room. The Room was very clean and equipped with floor heating, so it was warm and cozy. Plus, having a ReFa hairdryer was a delightful bonus for women! They also offered complimentary amenities as gifts and free drinks like kabosu highball and tea from the fridge—such great value for this price! The restaurant is located in the adjacent building within walking distance. Its glass walls create an open atmosphere that makes dining enjoyable; I imagine it would be even more beautiful depending on the season! While I personally couldn't enjoy some of the dishes due to my preferences, those accustomed to French cuisine would likely find it highly satisfying. Breakfast was Western-style and absolutely delicious! With such wonderful staff members, I’ll definitely choose this Hotel again when visiting Oita!

    As expected, it's wonderful!

    We visited with our family for a celebratory trip. This was our second time following last year, and everything from the Room's amenities and atmosphere to the morning and evening meals, as well as the service, was excellent. A new sauna has been added, further enhancing our satisfaction. My family was excited about visiting next time in summer or autumn, but I am already looking forward to experiencing a different atmosphere surrounded by greenery.

    The meals are excellent, the room has design flaws, and the Onsen is out of the question.

    The meals are of high quality and truly delicious, just as expected from the chef's background. Although it is a secluded area in Yufuin, do not expect an Onsen. The bath in the separate Room does not have an indoor bath, and the open-air bath with an outside temperature of around 5 degrees Celsius in winter posed a high risk of heat shock, so my wife did not enter. It is a dangerous design for the elderly. Also, the bath with heated circulating water made me wonder if it was really an Onsen. The Room's cleanliness is low, with black mold on the toilet window frames. There is no light outside the entrance door, so I had to lock it in the dark by feel. However, the bed was good. The best lunch is probably on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
