    It was a Hotel stay that sharpened all five senses.

    We chose this Accommodation because it offers views of Lake Biwa. The scenery throughout the property was exactly as shown in the photos on the website, and we were captivated by the refined design and attention to detail. We booked a Plan that included breakfast and dinner, and every dish made generous use of local ingredients and was truly delicious. We would love to return, and we would also like to recommend it to someone special. Thank you for your warm hospitality.

    Staying During a Typhoon Forecast

    It was, in a word, an amazing stay. Although the typhoon forecast had dampened my mood a bit, it never rained heavily while we were at the Accommodation, and the light rain actually created a calm, lovely atmosphere. I assumed there would be no amenities, but it was very helpful that I could request items such as a toothbrush and skincare set at the front desk. The Room was clean, and the bathtub was spacious and relaxing. Also, every breakfast and dinner dish was delicious and thoughtfully prepared—this is the most memorable Accommodation I’ve stayed at so far. All of the staff were very pleasant. When my preferred ice cream flavor wasn’t available with the evening service and I asked at the front desk, it seems someone even went out in the rain to get it from an outdoor refrigerator. I felt bad about that, but I was truly happy and grateful. I’d love to stay again next time on a sunny day. Thank you very much.

    Refresh

    I stayed at Setre Marina Biwako on May 24 to refresh. Since it is all-inclusive, I enjoyed plenty of alcoholic drinks in the lounge. Dinner was delicious, and the drink pairing was excellent as well. It can be hard to make a Reservation, but I would love to stay again if I have the chance.

    We had a relaxing stay!

    I was able to enjoy a truly luxurious and relaxing time! Swaying in the hammock while taking in the view of Lake Biwa was amazing. The Room also felt warm and inviting, with wood-scented flooring. I enjoyed breakfast slowly in the Room. The toast was delicious, and the mix-your-own dressing was so tasty—perfect on the bread too! The lounge was great as well. Grinding my own coffee beans made it especially delicious. It was also nice that I could use the lounge until 12:00 after checkout. The Lake Biwa-shaped keychain fit perfectly in my hand, making it easy to hold—and it was adorable! All of the staff were smiling and kind, and I had a very comfortable stay. I’d love to come again!

    The meals were absolutely delicious.

    I chose the plan with breakfast and dinner included. I don’t usually have many opportunities to drink alcohol, but there was a food pairing, so I decided to try it. Both the wine and sake paired wonderfully, and for the first time I truly felt how delicious and enjoyable pairing can be. The dishes were beautiful and delicious—we even talked afterward with my mother about how good everything was. Breakfast was also great: making dressing, trying mayonnaise with bread, and enjoying items like quiche and roast beef. The amenities were kept to a minimum to reduce plastic waste, and the Facility had nothing excessive—simple and comfortable. The tableware was consistently styled as well, using glass, wood, Shigaraki ware, and more—it was lovely. All of the staff were calm and kind, which made our stay very enjoyable. My mother said she didn’t expect it to be such a wonderful place, and that she’s glad we came. It’s somewhere I would definitely like to visit again. Thank you very much.

    Good Hotel

    A bit inconvenient to access by public transportation, but a great hotel worth staying at again. Here are some points for improvement: ① The room feels slightly dark. It might be due to the designer-style concept, but adding more adjustable lighting could be helpful. ② Providing deodorizing spray would be considerate for guests who may worry about odors on their clothes. Alternatively, installing an air purifier could also work. ③ Room cleaning and amenities might divide opinions; personally, I didn’t mind, but some guests might care more about these aspects. ④ A larger TV screen might enhance the experience. Highlights: ① Delicious meals with thoughtful presentation and excellent taste. While portions are not large, complimentary drinks (some are paid) add extra value. ② A well-equipped lounge offering coffee, alcoholic beverages, and desserts was popular among many guests during my stay. ③ Excellent customer service that promptly handles sudden requests is highly appreciated. ④ Quiet and relaxing atmosphere with fewer guest rooms ensures a peaceful stay. Even without visiting tourist spots, exploring around Lake Biwa and enjoying time within the hotel is satisfying enough. ⑤ The rooftop terrace offers stunning views of both sunrise and sunset with breathtaking scenery. Despite mentioning areas for improvement, this is an excellent hotel that I highly recommend!

    Great view

    First Stay at Lake Biwa The entrance was a bit hard to find when coming by car from Omihachiman, and making a right turn was nerve-wracking. The Hotel is stylish and clean. We arrived quite late after sightseeing, so we couldn't fully enjoy the all-inclusive experience. I couldn't eat the ice cream offered after dinner as I was too full. There was coffee available, but no tea, which was disappointing (since I don't drink alcohol). Dinner was okay; however, the meat seemed over-seared, resulting in a strong bitterness that overshadowed its flavor. The dessert that could be taken back to the Room was delicious. Breakfast was good as well. The curtains were thin, so it made waking up early unavoidable. The view of Lake Biwa Bridge from the Room is beautiful. However, the lighting in the Room felt too dim overall.

    Overpriced.

    I have stayed at several accommodations in the same price range before, but this one ranked the lowest among them. In particular, I was dissatisfied with aspects that "could not be understood at the time of reservation," so I am writing this review in hopes it will help others considering a stay here. This time, I was attracted by the promise of a Lake Biwa view and light snacks and drinks provided in the lounge, so I made a reservation for this accommodation. Regarding the Lake Biwa view, there were no discrepancies from the photos on IKYU.com. The sight of Lake Biwa from the inorganic concrete lobby was very beautiful and left an impression on me. However, on the other hand, I had nothing but complaints about both the room facilities and lounge service. First of all, the lighting in the bedroom was extremely dim—so much so that it made me wonder if a bulb had burned out. The indirect lighting was so dark that it strained my eyes significantly. Next is about an inexplicable design choice in the bathroom: When you turn on hot water using its faucet handle, water comes out from a spout attached to bathtub (about 50 cm above floor level). This part seemed normal enough—but switching over to shower mode required pulling up some bar located behind said spout (as per written instructions found inside). However—and here's where things went wrong—that lever couldn’t stay fixed! No matter how many attempts were made trying again repeatedly; once letting go hands-free momentarily caused immediate fallback into default tap-mode instead while halting any further flow via overhead-showerhead altogether...meaning users must physically hold onto knee-level levers throughout entire duration bathing process seated awkwardly below themselves struggling uncomfortably overall experience altogether unpleasantly frustrating ordeal indeed! Lastly came disappointment encountered visiting Lounge area seeking solace amidst earlier frustrations hoping redeeming value perhaps indulging complimentary ice cream offerings advertised prominently beforehand yet upon arrival discovering only bizarre flavors such as “Soy Sauce Soy Milk Ice Cream” alongside equally strange options like “Apple Pie Soy Milk Ice Cream.” Despite promotional materials suggesting availability standard milk-based varieties none existed whatsoever contrary expectations raised prior booking decision-making process itself misleading ultimately disheartening outcome overall dissatisfaction compounded further still unfortunately beyond tolerable limits reasonable justification current pricing structure exceeding ¥20k/night threshold unacceptable entirely henceforth low rating assigned accordingly reflecting genuine sentiment expressed herein sincerely conveyed constructive feedback aimed fostering meaningful improvements future guests benefit alike shared mutual interests aligned betterment hospitality industry standards universally upheld globally recognized benchmarks excellence aspired towards collectively achieved together collaboratively moving forward positively impactful manner envisioned ideally desired outcomes realized eventually fulfilled aspirations mutually beneficially enhanced experiences delivered consistently reliably dependably trustworthy reputation earned deserved respectability maintained perpetually enduring legacy established firmly rooted foundational principles guiding ethos core values embraced wholeheartedly passionately pursued relentlessly tirelessly dedicated unwavering commitment excellence exemplified epitomized embodiment highest ideals noble pursuits humanity strives attain ultimate purpose existence meaningfulness significance fulfillment satisfaction joy happiness harmony peace prosperity abundance flourishing thriving flourishing thriving

    Expectations might have been too high.

    The view of Lake Biwa was stunning, and the building's design was impressive and enjoyable. Additionally, the female staff member who served breakfast provided excellent service. The breakfast, including the make-your-own dressing option, was creative and delicious. While there were many positive aspects, unfortunately, some staff members' service left a disappointing impression. The most challenging moment was when I couldn't find the kettle in my room. Assuming it wasn't provided, I called the front desk to inquire. A male staff member responded with an unprofessional attitude: "Huh? It's under the TV," followed by "Every room should have one" with a dismissive tone. The hotel is overall very stylish and thoughtfully designed. The kettle was stored in a cabinet that blended seamlessly with the room's decor—so much so that it wasn't clear whether it was a door or just part of the wall paneling. Since pushing or pulling didn't open it, I concluded it wasn't a door and called for assistance. After hanging up from that frustrating call, I tried pulling harder out of irritation—and it opened! At least my inquiry wasn’t entirely pointless. If staff had better knowledge of guest rooms, they could have offered clearer guidance like "It’s hard to notice but try opening that section" or "You might need to use more force." Reflecting on this experience now makes me laugh at how poorly handled it all felt at times—but during my stay, having paid nearly 40,000 yen for what I expected to be a relaxing experience at an upscale accommodation made such moments feel far from entertaining. I visited hoping for peaceful moments overlooking the lake but ended up checking out early after breakfast because staying longer felt like this trip would become more about disappointment than relaxation. Thank you for your hospitality nonetheless!

    A quiet and lovely Hotel

    For those who enjoy alcohol, this place will feel like heaven, and even without that, it is a quiet and excellent Hotel. The breakfast might make you want to have a drink, making it perfect for a Multiple Night Stay. The evening dinner during sunset is absolutely stunning.

    Simply the best.

    We enjoyed a relaxing stay at the Hotel as our last getaway as a couple before welcoming our baby! It was absolutely amazing!! The air was fresh, we swayed in hammocks while gazing at Lake Biwa, the staff were incredibly kind, the meals were luxurious courses, light snacks and drinks were freely available, bicycles could be rented—and all of this for such an incredible price... It felt almost too perfect! In a good way, the only large Facility nearby is a shopping mall, so we didn’t have to worry about missing out on sightseeing and could fully relax!! It was truly a wonderful time.

    Recommended for families with children

    Of course, many couples choose this accommodation for its great views, but it is also a place where families with children can relax. The evening restaurant course allowed us to enjoy a leisurely meal while keeping an eye on our baby in a stroller at the restaurant. When making the reservation, we were able to request a baby crib, which made it possible to have an enjoyable and relaxing time amidst childcare.

    Second stay!

    This was my second stay! Once again, it was an amazing experience. The breakfast, in particular, was absolutely delicious. It was filled with the charm of Shiga, and the explanatory pamphlet was exciting and delightful. I thought the idea of making your own dressing was brilliant, and combining various small dishes with bread allowed me to enjoy a variety of flavors—such a great suggestion! Also, the bread was so delicious that I went to buy some right after checking out! Haha. I’m so happy to have discovered a shop unique to Shiga through this experience! I will definitely visit again in another season!

    A Hotel Where You Can Relax and Feel the Flow of Time

    The moment I entered the Room, stylish background music was playing, allowing me to relax comfortably while listening to it. Although it was a bit chilly, I had the chance to try the hammock, which was a valuable experience. The Room also had blankets available, which was great. For dinner, as I am not good with alcohol, I couldn't pair it with drinks; however, there were plenty of non-alcoholic options to enjoy. I would love to stay here again!

    It was a fulfilling Hotel stay.

    A while ago, I visited on a snowy day. I enjoyed a dinner course meal. The dishes featured many ingredients from Shiga, and each one was delicious. Along with the food, I had paired drinks. The staff kindly explained both the dishes and the drinks in detail, making the dining experience enjoyable. They even surprised us with a dessert plate, which left me impressed by their hospitality. After dinner, we borrowed board games from the front desk and enjoyed playing them in the lounge with friends. We also drank some more and changed records to enjoy music—it was such a fulfilling time. The Room was very clean and felt spacious. There was a hammock on the balcony; since it's not something we usually get to sit on, my friends and I excitedly tried it out despite the cold weather—it became such a memorable moment for us. In the morning, I woke up to see Lake Biwa covered in snow—a breathtaking view. We had breakfast while admiring Lake Biwa from our Room's window. It was impressive that they used local Shiga ingredients here as well—the food was absolutely delicious. The only regret I have is not checking in earlier. Since we checked in just before dinner started, I felt like I missed out on fully enjoying amenities like the lounge or trying out their theater room. When I visited during snowy weather it was beautiful; however, I'm sure staying at this Hotel during other seasons or sunny days would also be delightful—I definitely want to visit again!

    A place for a wonderful Hotel stay

    It was a stylish hotel with a warm wooden atmosphere! The moment I entered, Lake Biwa spread out right in front of me, and it was incredibly beautiful. All the staff I encountered from check-in to check-out were polite and wonderful. I chose a dinner-inclusive plan with drink pairings. The course meal was filled with surprises and deliciousness like nothing I've ever experienced before, leaving me very satisfied. Although I was full, the final dessert could be enjoyed in the room as well, which showed great hospitality. The paired drinks were also very delicious! It felt like one day wasn't enough...! It turned out to be such a wonderful stay that I immediately made my next reservation!

    We had a wonderful time as a family!

    A few years ago, we held our wedding at Setre, so we chose it as the destination for our first trip with our child. From the reservation stage, we were guided about moving the bed to the wall side and preparing a diaper disposal bin, which allowed us to visit on the day with peace of mind. The staff who assisted us during check-in was very kind to our child, which made us very happy. We were also excited about receiving roses as a spring-limited gift. The dinner featured an abundance of Shiga's local ingredients; it was visually stunning, surprising, and absolutely delicious! We were initially worried about our child being noisy during dinner but felt relieved as they had prepared a table at one end for us. For breakfast, we enjoyed their newly renewed menu. The fresh experience of making your own dressing and using mayonnaise to create an arrangement on toast was delightful—we loved it so much that we'd come back just for this breakfast! Since the theater room was available unexpectedly, we used it to watch our wedding video with our child for the first time. It showed a younger version of ourselves from years ago; seeing how excitedly our child called out "Papa!" and "Mama!" while watching made us incredibly happy too. We had two fulfilling days together with our child—it was truly wonderful!

    A Hotel You'll Want to Visit Again!

    The view of Lake Biwa and the mountain range from the Room was stunning, and I enjoyed the breathtaking scenery while relaxing on the hammock on the terrace! The Room had background music playing, creating a calm and comfortable atmosphere that allowed me to fully refresh. I also appreciated that food and drinks from the lounge on the second floor could be brought back to the Room, making it convenient to grab them at any time. I thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful Room and delicious meals, making it a truly special day. I look forward to staying again in a different season!

    A Hotel Filled with the Charms of Shiga

    I live nearby, but this was my first time staying at this accommodation! From the room and lounge, I could enjoy views of Lake Biwa, and in the evening, I sipped sparkling wine while watching the sunset over the mountains. The lounge exclusively for guests is open 24 hours, and it was great to be able to bring drinks back to the room. For dinner, I enjoyed dishes made with seasonal ingredients from Shiga paired with wine and sake. My sister, who is usually busy with childcare, was able to relax for the first time in a while and was very happy. It was a stay that allowed me to rediscover the charm of Shiga!

    Both dinner and brea...

    Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, with a great atmosphere that allowed for a relaxing dining experience. In the evening, we enjoyed a variety of drinks at the lounge and had fun with board games available for borrowing at the front desk. Despite the strong winds and cold weather, relaxing on the hammock while overlooking Lake Biwa was delightful. This is a Hotel I would love to stay at again.

    It was a luxurious experience.

    The dishes made with various ingredients from Shiga were all incredibly delicious. We also enjoyed the pairing of drinks, including the introductions provided. When we asked the staff for an original cocktail, they kindly accommodated our request, and even my friend who isn't fond of alcohol seemed satisfied. In the lounge, we spent a luxurious time selecting records to play ourselves and enjoying board games. The breakfast was sumptuous, and starting the day while gazing at the snowy view of Lake Biwa was truly wonderful. We will definitely return!

    A charming Hotel with the warmth of wood and a beautiful view of Lake Biwa

    We stayed here for our wedding anniversary. The breakfast and dinner featured plenty of ingredients from Shiga, offering a unique culinary experience that can only be enjoyed here. The Room and various interiors throughout the Hotel incorporated local elements, making it a beautifully conceptualized Hotel.
