    Delicious meals!

A Room with an open-air bath, great views, and a wonderful atmosphere. We also appreciated being able to enjoy free drinks such as beer. Both dinner and breakfast were satisfying in both quantity and quality. The relaxed dining atmosphere was excellent! The staff’s thoughtful hospitality was also very pleasant.

    1. Bath I used two open-air baths and the Room’s semi open-air bath. The water quality was excellent and warmed me up. The Room bath is especially comfortable with the door open. 2. Meals Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. The presentation of the appetizers and the meat dish were great. I ended up drinking too much, though. 3. Service From arrival through meals, everything was explained carefully. 4. Room It was spacious, well cleaned, and very comfortable.

    Snow-viewing Onsen

We stayed here for our last trip as a couple. At check-in, we were given the option to choose the time for our meals, and there were two dishes within the course menu that we could select. Additionally, there were optional dishes that could be added; these could be decided either at check-in or after arriving in the Room. If you have any special requirements such as allergies or pregnancy-related concerns, it seems they can accommodate them if contacted in advance. Ryutendo Bettei Kanzanchogetsu uses a card key system which adds a sense of exclusivity. There was also an exclusive lounge with a complimentary drink bar available during certain hours, and we enjoyed several refills! Yukata robes were also available in the lounge. While there are some stairs leading to the lounge, an elevator is provided for accessibility, making it convenient for those with mobility issues. As for our Room itself—it was clean and comfortable! The private open-air bath attached to our Room felt like pure luxury. The layout included a washing area at the front, an indoor bath in the middle, and an open-air bath at the back—all separated by doors. While overall satisfied with both Room and Facility quality, I would suggest softer beds and perhaps adding YouTube or Netflix access on TV. Relaxing in our Room brought us to dinner time. Dinner was served privately but arranged like a sushi counter—an interesting first-time experience! This setup seemed efficient while allowing us to enjoy our meal without worry. The staff’s attention to detail regarding meal explanations and prior special requests left us deeply impressed—both my spouse and I were moved by their care. The food? Simply outstanding! Words fail me when trying to describe how much thought went into every detail—from presentation using adorable dishware to flavors that delighted us throughout each course. Breakfast was equally impressive; especially notable were the miso soup hot pot and rice—they tasted exceptional alongside other delicious dishes! Overall impression: very satisfied. Thank you so much for your hospitality during this memorable stay!

    Exceptional hospitality

This was our first time staying for a birthday celebration with an anniversary plan. Upon entering the room, we found a heart-shaped bath towel arranged on the futon. At dinner, there was a "kusudama" at the dining area, and when we pulled it, it said "Congratulations!" A banner reading "HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you" was also displayed on the window next to our table—what a surprise! We were given a bottle of champagne and told, "Please wait in the lounge after your meal." While waiting, they brought out dessert with fireworks on the cake and said, "Please look outside." When we looked out the window, fireworks lit up the sky! The food matched our tastes perfectly; even the milk was easy to drink. The timing between dishes was just right, making everything very delicious. However, we noticed that the sofa bed in our room creaked slightly. Since it was listed as a Japanese-Western style room (和洋室), having beds instead of futons would make getting up easier. From our room's open-air bath (露天風呂), we enjoyed views of autumn pampas grass swaying in the breeze. One concern: before reaching the women’s open-air bath in the large public bath area (大浴場), there is a shower area where people wash. If someone is there using it, it feels awkward to pass by them to get to the open-air bath. Overall though, we were extremely satisfied with both hospitality and meals. At check-in time, staff kindly carried our luggage directly to our room; however, since tea service wasn’t provided in-room upon arrival as expected during such occasions here in Japan (お茶出し), I missed my chance to offer gratuity (心附け).

    The room smells musty.

The room smelled musty the moment I entered... It was surprisingly musty. There was a washing area in front of the semi-open-air bath, but as soon as I opened it, there was a strong bleach smell... It was as if bleach had been sprayed and not rinsed off. I rinsed it off for now. This price for that room is unacceptable... I will never go back again. The hot water for the meal was good.

    Tohoku National Treasure Temple Tour

First, I would like to mention the points that I was not satisfied with. Although there was a nice private open-air bath with natural hot spring water, it was inconvenient to have to use a hose from the bathroom in the room to add cold water and lower the temperature. This is something that could be improved in the future. However, interestingly enough, after some time, we got used to it and even found it charming—perhaps a testament to human adaptability. Next, I would like to highlight what we liked. First of all, the warm hospitality of the staff left a lasting impression on us. While this may vary depending on individual preferences, for my spouse and me, it felt very heartwarming. The welcome drinks were another highlight; they offered a wide variety and could be enjoyed at any time without worrying about schedules—a thoughtful touch we greatly appreciated. As for dining, the fruit-based aperitif vinegar stimulated our appetite wonderfully. The subsequent dishes reflected great care from the chef and were truly delightful. We also ordered both anago (conger eel) shabu-shabu and sukiyaki; both were prepared meticulously and tasted excellent. Additionally, our room had large windows that provided an open atmosphere with views far exceeding our expectations. On a smaller note but worth mentioning—the toothbrushes provided as amenities were very comfortable to use; my wife particularly appreciated how gentle they were on her gums. Lastly—and most impressively—when my wife forgot her cardigan in our room upon checkout, we received prompt communication from your accommodation before we even noticed ourselves! It was then kindly sent back home afterward. While opinions may differ among individuals regarding certain aspects of their stay here, for us as a couple this was truly an excellent accommodation experience overall. Thank you very much!

It was the best day ever.

The meals and baths were excellent. The service was great, making our stay very pleasant. Watching a group of monkeys while enjoying the morning bath was a delightful surprise! The only downside was the size and depth of the bath. Other than that, everything was perfect! My husband and I talked about wanting to visit again. Thank you very much!

    Mother's Birthday Trip

I stayed for my mother's birthday trip. It was quite an atmospheric Ryokan. Although I didn't particularly mention it, there was a red carpet laid out before entering the private dining room for dinner, a celebratory kusudama was prepared, and there were decorative banners on the wall. The thoughtfulness and consideration to celebrate were wonderful. My mother was initially embarrassed, but she was very pleased after having a commemorative photo taken. We were even given a laminated copy later! The meal was in a private room, and it was nice to have service staff attending to us. However, since it was counter-style seating, even with two people, you sit side by side, which might bother some people. (Same for both breakfast and dinner) The complimentary drinks are plentiful. If you like draft beer, you'll be happy to know there's a server available. The public bath isn't very large. If you go during a less crowded time, it shouldn't be an issue. The room's bath was nice. The indoor bath was hot, and the open-air bath was set to a warm temperature.
