    It was excellent!

    The staff were very kind and helpful. I was able to relax in my Room, and the meals were delicious. The Onsen helped soothe my fatigue. I’m glad I had such a wonderful time. Thank you very much.

    Tolerating poor manners of inbound guests

    Located in Arashiyama, Kyoto, this accommodation seems to attract many international guests. While I understood this beforehand, during my stay, I encountered an incident in the public bath where a family, seemingly from China, entered the outdoor bath area wearing yukata. They began removing their yukata on the spot, revealing swimwear such as rash guards, swim caps, and goggles. Without washing their bodies, they entered the bath. Other guests in the outdoor bath tried to address this by saying "WASH," but the family either ignored them or pretended not to understand, while dipping their feet in the water. Feeling uncomfortable, we decided to leave the outdoor bath. Later, we noticed the same family attempting to enter the indoor bath still wearing their goggles. I reported this to a male staff member at the front desk, explaining, "There are people in the public bath wearing swimwear and not washing before entering." However, his response was a curt "Understood," with a visibly annoyed expression. He showed no intention of addressing the issue and acted as if I was the one being unreasonable. While I understand that many accommodations cater to international guests, this particular accommodation seems to tolerate behavior that deviates from common Japanese etiquette. The family in the bath appeared to act knowingly, but even if it could be attributed to cultural differences, the staff's attitude was deeply disappointing. This, combined with the perception of uncleanliness in the room and facilities, made for a very unpleasant stay.

    The meals were delicious!

    This was my first time staying here. The atmosphere of the accommodation and the facility were very relaxing and pleasant. Although the facility itself shows some signs of aging, it was well-maintained and clean. The staff were very kind, even going so far as to carefully wipe down the wheels of my suitcase, which I greatly appreciated. I stayed with a 1-night, 2-meal plan, and both dinner and breakfast were plentiful and delicious. This is definitely one of the accommodations I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

    Stayed at the accommodation after a long time!

    Stayed with family for the first time in about 4 years. The room was clean and comfortable. There was also a stand to store carry cases, which was very convenient. The bath was also highly satisfying. However, I expected breakfast to be a buffet, but small dishes were already prepared on the table. During our previous stay, breakfast was served in a buffet style, so it seems the format has changed. I wanted to have more side dishes, so I rated it 4 stars. As for the shabu-shabu served at dinner, all portions for four people were cooked in one large pot placed at a high position. My shorter mother had to stand up to serve herself. It might have been better if individual pots were provided (though I understand this may require extra effort).

    Birthday Trip

    I visited for my boyfriend's birthday trip. We were both looking forward to the five private baths and the meals. The fact that we could use the private baths as many times as we wanted, 24 hours a day, was amazing! They also allowed us to exchange towels anytime! The complimentary ice cream and tea service were fantastic too! All the meals were beautifully presented and incredibly delicious! They even prepared a birthday plate, which made my boyfriend so happy! I was also thrilled when they turned our leftover rice into rice balls for us!!! The staff member who assisted us during dinner was lovely, easy to talk to, and even took photos of us together—thank you so much for that! When I asked at the front desk if they had a needle and thread because one of my buttons came off, they kindly brought me a sewing kit—it was such a big help!!! This trip left me completely satisfied beyond words!!!! I definitely want to visit again!!

    Room Services

    The room and the bath were both wonderful. I was very satisfied and glad to have stayed, and I would love to stay again. However, I was disappointed that the incense in the room had run out. I had been looking forward to this service after checking your website and reservation site, so I hope you update the information if it is no longer available. Other than that, it is truly a lovely accommodation, so next time I stay, I would like to book with meals included.

    Onsen in Arashiyama is wonderful.

    I have visited several times, but the food seemed more casual this time. Some dishes were dry, possibly left out for too long, and the fish lacked freshness, which was disappointing. The fruits at breakfast were all dried out. Rather than focusing on Instagram-worthy presentation, a buffet would have been better if the food is prepared in advance and left out for some time. The previous buffet was excellent, so this was disappointing. The room had a musty smell of mold that lingered despite trying various solutions over two days, which was unfortunate. The onsen is great and perfect for relaxing nearby, making it one of my favorite accommodations; however, this visit was disappointing overall.

    Excellent service!

    I stayed with my son and three grandchildren. The staff were all kind, and although we had to wait in line for seating at dinner, the meal was absolutely satisfying. We couldn't try the post-bath ice cream, probiotic drinks, or late-night ramen as we were too full. For breakfast, it might be better to focus on one unforgettable dish rather than offering a wide variety. The room cleaning could be improved a bit more. Since we had a crawling baby with us, there was quite a lot of dust behind the lamps and near the windows. Next time, I’d like to stay at the Umekoji branch!

    A graceful hotel loc...

    A graceful hotel located right in front of Hankyu Arashiyama Station. We arrived much earlier than 12:00 as we wanted to park our car, and they kindly allowed us to use the parking space since it was available. There are many tourist spots nearby, and the area is bustling with international visitors. The interior and facilities reflect the unique atmosphere of Kyoto, which was delightful. The Onsen water was very relaxing, and we could enjoy a private bath for free when it was available. We also received adorable ice pops for free. Dinner was beautifully presented and very delicious, though I felt the seasoned rice and miso soup could have been more flavorful. We also enjoyed "Yonaki Soba" (late-night ramen), which was quite popular even on a Sunday night with a full house! Breakfast offered plenty of options, but I couldn’t eat everything because I was so full—perhaps bread and coffee would have been better for me in the morning? Overall, it turned out to be an extremely satisfying trip. Many thanks to all the staff members for their hospitality!

    Excellent value for money

    The facility felt older compared to the same group's Umekoji location, with some odor and an outdated atmosphere. However, the location was great for the price, the meals were delicious, and the staff provided excellent service.

    The Best Day

    I have traveled to many places, but I truly had the best day here. The service was impeccable, and I was already talking about wanting to come back every year on my way home.

    It is a beautiful accommodation.

    Stayed with family of three after visiting temples in Saga. One person used a portable bed, which was as expected. However, the cushion pillow on the bed was too soft and low for me, making it less comfortable to sleep. Each guest is provided with one bath towel and one face towel for bathing, but room amenities such as extra towels or laundry bags seemed limited. The meals were very delicious and satisfying for both dinner and breakfast. However, during breakfast, there seemed to be some confusion with alcohol orders as they were repeated three times by an inexperienced staff member, which made the process less smooth. For an Onsen Ryokan, I would expect better handling of such requests. There were delightful services like ice cream and milk drinks near the bath area and complimentary late-night ramen noodles ("Yonaki Soba"), which added to the experience. Overall, it was a good Onsen Ryokan stay!

    It was a stay after a long time.

    This was our third stay. The previous two times were during the COVID period, so it wasn't particularly crowded, but this time there were many tourists, and it was very lively. We had a 2 PM check-in, so after checking in, we headed straight to the private bath. Since we have children, it was great that the whole family could enter together. However, I felt that some people might not be able to use it even once due to the heavy crowd. We were lucky to be able to use three private baths. Since there was availability this time, our Room was upgraded. The Room was neither too large nor too small, and it was comfortable. Also, since it was tatami, I think it would be easy for a crawling baby to spend time there. As for dinner, the Plan included an all-you-can-drink option, but the content of the all-you-can-drink was a bit disappointing. I couldn't find the draft beer particularly tasty. The same goes for the sours. Also, the drink service was quite slow. I think early ordering is necessary. The yudofu was very delicious, but there was so much tofu that we couldn't finish it. Half the amount would be fine. The salmon and salmon roe takikomi gohan at the end was extremely delicious. You can also have yonaki soba from 10:30 PM, but it was very crowded, and there was a line, so we enjoyed the private bath during that time. Breakfast was full of obanzai, and it was an Instagram-worthy meal. However, the taste was not great... especially the rice was mushy (it might be a matter of preference). It was incomparable to the takikomi gohan from the night. Overall, with this location in Arashiyama, the level of service, and this price, we are very satisfied. The children seemed to like it very much and kept saying they wanted to go to the big bath again! We would like to visit again if we have the opportunity someday. Thank you very much.

    Only crowded before meals.

    The room, onsen, and meals were very good, and it was a property I would like to stay at again! It was very close to Togetsukyo Bridge, and I was grateful that I could park my car before check-in. However, despite being asked for my preferred meal times, both dinner and breakfast times were crowded with people waiting in front of the dining area, so I didn't understand the purpose of communicating my preferred times. Also, perhaps because there were foreign guests, shoes were placed on the board in front of the area where shoes are not worn, which concerned me from a hygiene perspective. The hallway was tatami, with kimonos displayed, and the koi in the entrance pond gave the entire ryokan a traditional Japanese feel, which was very nice and very Kyoto-like!

    I hope you do your best.

    I liked the Stays at Kyoritsu Resort, so I was looking forward to this stay as well, but I wondered if it was always like this? Especially in Arashiyama, it's bustling with overtourism and many international visitors, so I think the staff have a hard time. There was a Review about a year ago mentioning that the check-in process wasn't organized, and people who arrived later were able to check in first, but it hasn't been improved. Also, I was addressed without honorifics by an international staff member. I understand this might be unavoidable, but I hope for a little more staff training and system improvement. I'm looking forward to it.

    I was extremely satisfied!

    Overall, it was great!! The service drinks bar, imagawayaki, and the late-night ramen (noodles) full of guilty pleasure from 22:30, were all delicious. The nearby Fufu no Yu is free as a stay benefit, but it is more down-to-earth. I think it would have been fine to just stick to the hotel's onsen. After all, you could enter the private bath (24 hours) with just a little wait, and the amenities were plentiful. The location was very convenient and easy to understand, which was great since sightseeing was the main focus. It had an appropriate sense of luxury, and all the staff were friendly and very pleasant. I want to visit again and also try other properties in the Kyoritsu Resort Group. Thank you very much.
