  An urban retreat!

  Stunning views from a hilltop location, where you can enjoy both the sea and the mountains. The high-ceilinged lobby is very stylish and makes you feel like you’ve escaped the everyday. Both the Italian course dinner and the Japanese breakfast feature local ingredients, and with excellent staff service, we were highly satisfied. It’s a Hotel we’d love to return to.

Our Hotel is designed around the concepts of the sea, churches, and a monastery. The entrance—especially around the front desk—is inspired by a ship, and the guestroom corridors are modeled after those on a passenger vessel. Did you notice? The corridor lights are marine-grade fixtures that are actually used on ships. Design elements and decorations inspired by these themes can be found throughout the Hotel, so we hope you will look for them when you visit us again. Please note that our restaurant is inspired by a monastery. The “Island Italian” dinner you enjoyed, as well as breakfast, is prepared using seasonal ingredients and local produce whenever possible. Our kitchen team was delighted to read your Review. We are truly pleased that you were able to savor dishes unique to Goto—surrounded by the sea—while watching Japan’s last sunset sink into the East China Sea, enjoying Goto with all five senses. Although the sun sets every day, it shows a different character with each season. Just like our cuisine, it never grows old. The rainy season has recently ended here in Goto. Even though it has just ended, we have been experiencing hot days in a row. This summer is expected to be hotter than usual, so please take good care of yourself and stay well.   It was a beautiful H...

  It was a beautiful Hotel, the food was delicious, and the staff were very friendly. We were also lucky with the weather and made wonderful memories. One disappointing thing was that the bath water was too hot to relax. There was no way to cool it down with cold water, so we had to finish early. Other guests also left quickly. We were really looking forward to it because the location is great, so it was very disappointing. I wish I could have soaked in the bath at a leisurely pace. The place to cool down afterward was excellent as well, which made it even more regrettable. Aside from the bath being too hot, it was a truly wonderful Hotel.

We sincerely apologize that the large public bath did not meet your expectations. We adjust the bath temperature as needed based on four measurements taken each day and current weather conditions, aiming for around 41°C in the tub. We take your feedback seriously and will implement measures to ensure more consistent temperature control. Thank you for your valuable comments. Should you have another opportunity to visit, we hope you will be able to relax in our large public bath and unwind from daily fatigue. Our kitchen team was also delighted to hear your comments. At our Hotel, every course is prepared using seasonal ingredients throughout the year, as well as local produce whenever possible.   Retirement Celebration Trip

  A wonderful Accommodation surrounded by the sea, starry skies, and a peaceful setting. From the bath, we enjoyed breathtaking views—sunrise to the right and sunset to the left—and felt both body and mind unwind. Exquisite dishes made with local ingredients delighted all five senses. We spent a truly memorable time that will mark an important milestone in our lives.

  It was a very comfortable Hotel.

  The view from the Hotel was stunning, with unforgettable memories of the silver sea illuminated by the sunset in the evening and sunrise the next morning. The Room was simple, functional, and provided a calm atmosphere for a relaxing stay. The meals were delicious; dinner was enjoyable with wine, and for breakfast, I chose a Japanese-style meal with a variety of side dishes that lifted my spirits from the start of the day. What stood out most was the excellent service provided by the Hotel staff. When I learned that there might be cancellations of jetfoil ferries from Fukue Island to Nakadori Island where I had stayed previously, I contacted another accommodation's front desk but found them unhelpful. However, when I reached out to Margherita Hotel’s front desk late at night regarding my upcoming stay there, they responded kindly and thoroughly despite it being late hours—a great relief during my trip when information was scarce. Upon arriving at Margherita Hotel, their staff continued to provide warm and satisfying service. I will definitely choose Margherita Hotel again on my next trip to Goto Islands. Thank you very much to all staff members!

  The Italian dinner is exquisite and Michelin-level!

  The room had a small toilet and a small bath, which was not an Onsen (the Onsen public bath was under renovation and unavailable). The TV was too small, and the partition was just a curtain instead of a door. Apart from the view, it was hard to find positive points. However, the Italian dinner was absolutely delicious! I could feel the chef's dedication to serving each dish in its best state so that guests could enjoy every bite. I believe it's worth staying here just for this Italian cuisine. For breakfast, I chose Japanese-style but felt disappointed as the grilled fish wasn’t freshly cooked, and both rice and miso soup were not served hot. Comparing it to the morning grilled fish set meal at "Osakana Teishoku Asageya" in Isahaya that I had the day before—where everything including rice, miso soup, and grilled fish were served piping hot—I think more effort is needed here. Especially since meal times are pre-determined from the previous day for guests. I would rate 6 stars for dinner, 2 stars for breakfast, making it 4 stars overall.

  Highly recommended in Kamigoto.

  The day we stayed, there were few other guests, and the dinner restaurant was reserved exclusively for us. Both the service and food were excellent, allowing us to relax fully. Breakfast could also be ordered additionally, which made our experience perfect. If I had to mention one downside, it would be that the spa was unavailable, which was a bit disappointing. The weather was great as well, and we thoroughly enjoyed Kamigoto Island. Thank you to all the staff!

  A hotel filled with Goto.

  The warm hospitality, beautiful rooms, and meals composed of seasonal ingredients from Goto were all wonderful. The dinner, in particular, directly conveyed the quality of the ingredients and the excellent seasoning. It was one of the unforgettable dinners of 2024. Thank you very much.

  It is a wonderful Hotel.

  I was finally able to visit Margherita, which I had always wanted to go to. The lobby, Room, and even the restaurant and the interior were beautifully decorated for Christmas! During my 2-night, 3-day stay, I enjoyed a variety of Japanese and Italian meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and they were all delicious. I also appreciated the attentive service from the staff. I would love to visit again.

  Wonderful stay

  I saw it on TV before and always wanted to visit, and this time my wish came true. The location where you can view both the sunrise and sunset, the hospitality of the staff, and the delicious food made for a wonderful stay as expected. The French toast I had for breakfast was especially exquisite. I hope to stay again someday, this time for two nights to relax. Thank you for the wonderful stay.
