    A relaxing Accommodation where you can unwind at your own pace

    The cozy size of the Accommodation felt very comfortable, and the staff were wonderful—it was a place where we could truly relax. Kurumi had no other guest Rooms on the same floor, and the library next door felt like an extension of our own Room, which made it feel like a great bonus (lol). The location was also convenient for visiting Kiyomizu-dera before breakfast and coming back easily. Breakfast was delicious as well. Thank you very much for a lovely stay.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    I wasn’t sure what to expect since it seemed reasonably priced for a Ryokan in Kyoto on a weekend, but I was more than satisfied. The location is very convenient for sightseeing in Higashiyama, and the exterior blends nicely with the surrounding streetscape. From the entrance to the Room, it has a cozy Ryokan atmosphere, and once inside the Room it felt like Taisho-era romance—wonderful. In the Room, you can make various drinks and there were several kinds of sweets as well—thoughtful touches that many women will appreciate. Speaking of that, all the amenities you’d hope for were provided, and the in-room hair dryer was surprisingly a ReFa. The young staff were polite and attentive; when we went out, they quickly brought our footwear for us, and their subtle consideration left a great impression. At dinner, when I couldn’t decide on a sake label, the head chef gave helpful advice, which made the meal even more enjoyable.

    It was a valuable learning experience.

    I stayed at a slightly upscale Ryokan in Kyoto. Right by the wall near my pillow, a “big sports day” started after midnight. Rustle, rustle… thud… rustle. Then rapid footsteps—tap tap tap tap tap, tap tap tap tap tap. I guess that’s what happens in an old Ryokan. I couldn’t sleep at all, so I told the front desk in the morning, and they said, “Since it’s an old building, we do receive comments like that. We carry out pest control regularly.” I see—that was it. My expectations were wrong. So this is something you just have to accept. I’ve never had an experience like this even at other expensive Ryokan, so from now on I’ll ask whether there are any before making a Reservation. Maybe because my Room was on an upper floor they weren’t in the ceiling area, but I didn’t expect them to be inside the walls near my head. In a normal house you’d think they’d stay up in the roof. It was a learning experience—but for anyone not used to it, it would be terrifying.

    The Essence of Kyoto

    Just a step away from the bustling tourist spots, there is a quiet accommodation. At the entrance, a foreigner in a kimono was taking photos. They quickly stepped aside when they noticed us, but I can understand why they wanted to capture the moment. Opening the sliding door at the entrance reveals a tea ceremony-inspired view—a spirit of hospitality that soothes travel fatigue. Both the service and cuisine were impeccable. Even someone like me, who becomes more particular with age, was thoroughly satisfied. I would definitely like to stay here again when visiting Kyoto. Thanks to IKYU.com for introducing this accommodation!

    Second time using

    The change in chefs has altered the flavor of the dishes. It's also disappointing that they didn't ask about the doneness of the meat dishes!
