    The facilities are outdated.

    The meals and service were good, but the guest Room and large public bath were poorly maintained. - Negative points There were cobwebs in the corners of the Room, and a stink bug caught by a previous guest was still stuck to the curtain with duct tape. In the indoor bath of the large public bath, mosquitoes were flying around, making it hard to relax. The open-air bath was as cold as a pool; when I tried it anyway, there were mosquito larvae in the water. The next day my skin became red and irritated, so it had the opposite effect of what you would expect from a “beautifying hot spring.” - Positive points The food was stylish and delicious, and the service was polite. Thank you for preparing an anniversary surprise as well. The open-air bath in the guest Room was nice.

    The meals and the Onsen were both wonderful!

    The Room was standard and fairly ordinary, but both dinner and breakfast were excellent and a delight to the eyes as well. The sulfur Onsen was exactly what you’d expect from an Onsen, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Ideal for honeymoon stays

    We stayed at this Ryokan during our 4-night, 5-day honeymoon trip to Hokkaido. **What we liked:** - The private open-air bath attached to the room was authentic, with a pleasant sulfur scent that made it very relaxing. - The hospitality from the foreign staff was incredibly warm and made us feel welcome. - Dinner included a large king crab, which was absolutely delicious and overall very satisfying. However, one concern throughout our stay was the number of insects due to the Ryokan being located in the forest. While this may be unavoidable given the older building, we hope improvements can be made in this regard. There is one issue that left us feeling extremely upset: The service from an elderly female staff member was unacceptable. As mentioned in other reviews as well, her attitude towards guests was poor. Specifically: - She did not greet us at all (even when passing by), unlike the foreign staff who always greeted us warmly. - During dinner, both my wife and I left certain dishes uneaten (I dislike pickled shallots; my wife dislikes shellfish). In response, she told me harshly that "this is why young people these days are no good" and scolded my wife in a strong tone saying "if you're going to leave food uneaten, you should have said so beforehand." While we understand leaving food might not be ideal on our part, there are situations like allergies where some items simply cannot be eaten—being berated by an employee for this felt extremely unpleasant. Although we considered addressing this directly during our stay, we chose not to as it would have disrupted the joyful atmosphere of our honeymoon; however, it remains something we cannot forgive. That being said, we'd like to emphasize again that other staff members (especially the foreign team) provided excellent service. If not for this particular elderly staff member's behavior, we would gladly consider staying at this Ryokan again in the future!

    This is my first vis...

    This is my first visit in a year. I stayed on a weekday, expecting it to be less crowded, but I was surprised by how busy it was. As with last year, the Onsen quality is excellent and flawless. The only downside might be that the changing room felt too warm. The staff were all very kind and helpful. The meals were thoughtfully prepared using local ingredients and were very enjoyable. Since I booked an inexpensive Room, it couldn't be helped, but the private dining Room for breakfast and dinner was extremely small as it was located in a corner space—this was the only disappointment this time. Additionally, though not a major issue, I found that the toilet in the Room wasn't working because its plug had been disconnected from the outlet. Payment for accommodation is cash-only but reasonable overall. I would love to visit again if given another opportunity. Thank you for your hospitality!

    Beware of stink bugs.

    The room was spacious. It is a standalone accommodation in the mountains, and unfortunately, during this season, the air conditioning was not available. The strong western sunlight and holes in the window screens made it disappointing as opening the windows risked letting insects in. However, we appreciated the thoughtful gesture of providing duct tape for dealing with stink bugs. The meals were highly satisfying in both quantity and quality. All staff members, including the head chef, were young and responded promptly and efficiently, making this trip after several years very pleasant. Isn't 300 yen for ice reasonable since it comes with a glass, stirrer, and tongs?

    The best accommodation.

    Thank you for an unforgettable day. It was a weekday trip where a mother and daughter from Kanagawa met grandparents from Osaka at New Chitose Airport. Traveling through Mt. Usu to Niseko, we ventured deep into the mountains and arrived at a retro-style accommodation surrounded by scenery completely different from Kansai. Our elementary school-aged grandchild, who loves retro aesthetics, was overjoyed as expected. Though old, the accommodation was meticulously cleaned and very tidy. The staff were kind and attentive with excellent hospitality. The onsen was filled with the delightful scent of sulfur, offering even mud packs for relaxation—it was incredibly soothing. The meals were also delicious and absolutely wonderful! We had initially considered upgrading our 6th-grade grandson's meal to an adult portion instead of the children's menu but were kindly advised that the children's meal would be sufficient—and it truly was! Both in quantity and taste, he was fully satisfied. Since we wanted to leave early for Otaru the next morning, we requested an earlier breakfast time which they graciously accommodated. Despite current rice shortages causing issues elsewhere, they brought us a large container filled with perfectly cooked rice that sparkled when opened—prompting all four of us to exclaim in delight! The side dishes were excellent too; everything tasted so good that we ended up overeating in the morning. Even during their busy schedule attending other guests upon departure, perhaps it was the proprietress who came out to see us off personally—taking photos together and waving until we disappeared from sight—which warmed our hearts deeply. Although I’ve heard concerns about declining service levels due to increased inbound tourism in recent years across Hokkaido, this stay proved otherwise; I felt touched by Hokkaido’s warm hospitality throughout my visit here. This is definitely an accommodation I’d love to return to again someday!

    It was the most relaxing accommodation.

    This is my second stay for one night. I thought it was a good accommodation last time, but I was a bit tired then and couldn't fully appreciate it. This time, the onsen, meals, and hospitality were excellent. The facility itself is old, but it is clean and did not bother me at all. I would love to visit this accommodation again.

    It's a nice place.

    It was a therapeutic onsen Stays that made me want to stay for 2 or 3 nights next time, even though it was just a one-night visit. I was truly satisfied. It was an affordable (inexpensive) Plan, but I was very satisfied. There was a bit of a trouble at Check-Out, but... I hope to stay longer next time. I pray there will be vacancies. Thank you very much.

    Since it was a small...

    Since it was a small property, I felt that there were probably not many employees. Everyone was very pleasant, but there were a few disappointing points, such as meals not being served smoothly and no staff available when I wanted to check out. Perhaps because it is old, insects came out from the corners of the room. I also encountered a large spider I had never seen before. Since it is in the mountains, this might be unavoidable, but because of this incident, I don't think I will visit again. The room also felt old. There were steps in various places. I think caution is needed if you are bringing elderly people. I was really looking forward to the mud bath, but in reality, there was no mud accumulated, and it was distributed to each room in a washbasin. The open-air bath also had mud placed in a container. Disappointing. Perhaps because I ordered the hair crab, I was very satisfied with the dinner, but breakfast felt a bit lonely without a main dish. The taste was very good. The staff were very pleasant, so overall, I would give it 4 stars. Thank you very much.

    An Isolated Onsen Stays

    In front of the onsen property, there is only the Oyumoto Numa with rising steam, and nothing like convenience stores. A dog welcomes you, and all the staff provide a very brisk and wonderful smile. Although there were only two of us for dinner, the sashimi was served in a boat platter, and breakfast was also plentiful and delicious, almost completely eaten. The view from the room is also good. A starry sky with full marks. An open-air bath like cloudy water. Both my heart and body were warmed. However, it was disappointing that breakfast started at 8 o'clock. When I requested an earlier time, they kindly moved it 15 minutes earlier.

    This time, I was most looking forward to the hot spring (quality of the spring). I could freely choose the temperature adjustment and later feel the medicinal effects gradually. It is the best quality spring. However, unfortunately, upon entering the inn, there is a strong incense smell that is quite noticeable. As someone with weak respiratory organs, I was worried about asthma, which was disappointing. I would like the chef to study a little more about the meals.
