This was my second stay, and it’s still my favorite Accommodation.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Accommodation. This was my second stay, and it’s still very much to my taste. All of the staff were extremely kind and pleasant. I used the large public bath a total of four times! I especially love the balcony just before the bath—after bathing, I sit on the balcony, feel the sea breeze, and cool down as I dry off. As for the meals, it seems there has been a change in who prepares them, and the menu has a distinctive twist. Preferences may vary. Also, last time I stayed I remember feeling that the portion sizes were just right or perhaps slightly small, but this time there was more than I could finish.

It was wonderful.
I felt soothed by the tatami flooring, by the staff’s kind hospitality, and by the simple, peaceful atmosphere. The location was also great, and I was able to relax at a leisurely pace. However, next time I plan to request in advance that breakfast be something like “one type of fish plus natto.” *This is not a complaint—it's just that I can’t finish a large meal anymore as I’ve gotten older.*

We stayed here as a family.
The Room was clean and thoroughly well-maintained, and we had a very comfortable stay. The bath in the Room was also spacious and relaxing. The service was excellent, and we would like to visit again. Just one suggestion: if possible, we would have appreciated having hand soap at the sink. We would be grateful if you could consider this. If we have the opportunity, we would love to stay again.

It may be better to make improvements so that first-time guests and a wide range of people can use it more easily.
When arriving by taxi, the entrance was difficult to find, and even the driver seemed unsure. Inside the Accommodation as well, there were moments when it was not immediately clear which large public bath was for men and which was for women. I understand that the design is a priority, but as Japan moves toward a more inclusive society where people with diverse needs can feel comfortable, I felt that a bit more intuitive guidance would help first-time guests and a wider range of visitors feel more at ease during their stay. Regarding dinner, I had been informed in advance that it would not be kaiseki. The ingredients themselves seemed high quality, but the lineup—such as pizza and sea bream ramen to finish—felt like something that could be a matter of personal preference. I think satisfaction would increase if there were options such as choosing rice and miso soup. For breakfast, I was concerned that there did not appear to be any vegetables at all, and no egg dishes were provided. From a nutritional balance standpoint as well, I would appreciate having more choices. That said, the dining staff were polite. Also, because group guests are prioritized and dinner start times cannot be chosen (resulting in a late seating), I would have appreciated being informed in advance when I stopped by early to leave my luggage. If I had known beforehand, I could have had a light meal before coming, so this was somewhat disappointing. The bath was heated water rather than an Onsen, but the temperature was just right and comfortable. On the other hand, it felt somewhat inconvenient or unsettling that front desk service ends at 10:30 PM and that the lighting in the 4th-floor lounge felt quite dim. These are purely my personal impressions, but I hope they will be helpful for those considering staying here.

It was a wonderful getaway stay with my best friend.
Blessed with wonderful weather, I was able to spend truly quality time while listening to the sound of the waves. The staff were quietly attentive whenever needed, allowing me to relax and enjoy a calm stay. Fresh, beautiful flowers were arranged throughout the Accommodation, and all the tableware I held—whether in my Room, the dining area, or the lounge—was warm-to-the-touch Kasama ware. As I spent time there, I felt as though my mind gradually became more settled. At breakfast, from the raised seating area overlooking the shore, a pleasant breeze and the sound of waves drifted in through slightly open windows, leaving me with a clear and refreshed feeling. As other Reviews mentioned, there didn’t seem to be any vegetable dishes at breakfast—I understood what they meant. Still, everything was wonderful: the straw-fermented natto had a rich soybean flavor; there was grilled fish; Hinuma clam soup; and perfectly cooked delicious rice. I truly felt this Accommodation’s hospitality. Thank you for such a lovely meal. The shampoo and soaps in the bath were also high-quality herbal products, and by using the alternating schedule system I was able to enjoy both baths very comfortably. Listening to quiet background music that matched the sound of the waves, I was able to rest pleasantly even after bathing. I left without remembering to express my thanks properly, but thank you as well for your thoughtful consideration for Diamond members. Next time, I would love to come with my husband and spend an unhurried time listening to the waves with a book in hand. To everyone at this Accommodation who carries such a gentle atmosphere—thank you very much indeed. P.S. Inspired by my stay, on my way home I immediately bought flowers at a florist and displayed them at home to extend that lingering feeling... but if I want even a small step closer first comes cleaning my Room (sweat). I’ll do my best! Thank you for such an amazing time!

This Accommodation o...
This Accommodation offered ocean views from the lounge, Room, and bath—everywhere. Unfortunately, the weather was poor and the sea was rough, but we were able to see the impressive Kamiiso Torii with waves crashing and spray flying. Overall we were satisfied, but there were a few things that stood out. I think it would be even more relaxing if you provided comfortable in-house wear like samue, not only yukata. Also, since guests are expected to bring the Room towels when going to the large public bath, it would be convenient to have a basket for carrying them. Is there a reason there were no vegetables at breakfast? Dinner seemed focused on local ingredients, but breakfast felt somewhat unbalanced—for example, two soups were served. The soups also seemed quite lukewarm. Despite all that, we felt it was a lovely Accommodation overall. Thank you for taking care of us.

An Accommodation for those who find luxury in simplicity
Overall: It feels like a former building-style Ryokan rebranded into a more upscale stay with just 8 Rooms and a minimal staff. Service is simple and unpretentious, but the food and interiors are excellent—best suited for guests who enjoy being left alone in a comfortable way. Pros: - Beautiful interior details: warm wood, fresh flowers, and what appear to be Kasama-yaki ceramics. It’s also nice to walk barefoot throughout the Accommodation. - Drinks are almost entirely free-flow (in-room fridge, post-bath area, and lounge with local craft beer, bottled milk, coffee, etc.). - Outstanding seafood-focused cuisine. The monkfish hot pot with plenty of liver is especially memorable. - Great library selection and well-kept books. Han Kang’s essays were a highlight. - The JVC speaker in the Room supports Bluetooth and sounds great. - There are so few staff that they remember you within one night, yet everyone is genuinely kind. Cons: - Likely due to limited staffing, dinner is served all at once like an izakaya. It was surprising and makes it hard to enjoy hot dishes while they’re still hot. - The yukata is thin and slips out of place easily, making it less relaxing. I wished I had brought my own. For a modern luxury-style Accommodation, it would be nice to have loungewear such as samue or pajamas. - Some Facility issues stood out: weak shower pressure; an overly loud phone ringtone; central heating that can’t be fine-tuned; and cool air blowing for long periods even when set to heat. - The internet is slow: under 10 Mbps in the Room at night, and Wi‑Fi barely connects in the dining area. YMMV: - Probably also due to minimal staffing, having the futon already laid out at check-in feels a bit casual. - The rough Pacific Ocean is right in front of you—the waves are so loud that you can’t really talk on the terrace. For someone raised by the calm Seto Inland Sea like me, it felt more intense than soothing. - This is not an Onsen bathhouse style stay; long baths can leave your skin dry. There’s no humidifier in the Room either, so bring your own dry-air countermeasures. - Having to bring towels from your Room each time is slightly inconvenient. - Breakfast is extremely simple—mainly fish and rice—and very tasty, but I’d have appreciated some vegetables or fruit as well.

A wonderful accommodation where you can feel the sea
This was my second visit. A calm space where you can hear the sound of the waves. I was very satisfied with both the quantity and taste of the meals. My thanks to all staff and everyone involved with the Accommodation. I would love to visit again and fully enjoy another wonderful time by the sea. Highly recommended for those who want to spend a relaxing time in nature.

Has this hidden gem been discovered?
This was my second stay, and just like last time, the view, Room, bath, food, and service were all flawless! The monkfish hot pot in particular was outstanding—the fresh monkfish liver and locally made miso soup were simply exquisite. The only thing that caught my attention was that there were about two other guests traveling solo—men on their own. Has word finally gotten out that this Accommodation is a perfect hidden gem for solo male travelers (lol)?

Meals and amenities are terrible.
This was my third visit. The Room was old and dirty, the amenities were terrible and cheap, and there were no items in the bath area under the pretext of infection control. I had high expectations for dinner, but the portion size drastically decreased, and the quality was awful—any household could prepare better meals. Breakfast used to be too much to finish, but now it’s just disappointing. I came here seeking an extraordinary experience but left utterly let down. Compared to Nikko or Kinugawa, this place doesn’t even come close. There won’t be a fourth visit for me. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone—it’s not worth spending over 100,000 yen here.

A perfect evening to mark the winter solstice.
I stayed at the accommodation from the 21st to witness the sunrise through the torii gate of Oarai Isosaki Shrine on the morning of the winter solstice. Unfortunately, it rained on the 21st. The forecast for the morning of the 22nd was cloudy turning to clear skies, but as predicted, it remained cloudy. Although I couldn't see this year's winter solstice sunrise, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this accommodation. Upon entering through its entrance, I felt a calming atmosphere that continued as I checked in while gazing at the sea from the lobby. Walking along tatami-matted corridors and taking an elevator to my room, I was greeted by a stunning view of Oarai's coastline and could see Isosaki Shrine's torii gate right before me. From both my room and the large public bath on the fourth floor, you can enjoy this same breathtaking scenery. In my room, accompanied by soothing sounds of ocean waves, I leisurely read a book I'd brought with me and lost track of time. Dinner featured local specialties such as anglerfish hot pot—a seasonal delicacy in winter—alongside other carefully prepared dishes using fresh local ingredients. The rice porridge served at the end of anglerfish hot pot was absolutely exquisite. For breakfast, grilled fish included open-dried horse mackerel and mirin-marinated mackerel; both were exceptional in flavor. Side dishes like straw-wrapped natto and miso soup made with Yamato shijimi clams from Lake Hinuma complemented perfectly. Throughout meals—and indeed every moment during my stay—the staff’s thoughtful hospitality made me feel truly relaxed and cared for. I hope to return next year when seeking another chance to witness a winter solstice sunrise here again!

A Memorable Journey for Two
This was my first visit. The room had tatami flooring and was kept very clean, providing a pleasant environment. The hospitality was excellent, with impeccable service. The location was convenient, and the meals were carefully prepared and served fresh, making them incredibly delicious. Having stayed at many accommodations before, this one stands out as the best in my experience. I would love to visit again!

The view from the room is amazing!
An accommodation with a view of the sea, offering stunning framed-like ocean views from the room, lounge, and bath. The meals were served in just the right portions and were satisfying. It was an accommodation I would love to visit again.

A very cozy accommodation!
Perfect location right in front of the ocean. The sunrise view from the room was breathtaking. Walking barefoot throughout the accommodation felt so comfortable. A casual yet heartfelt hospitality-filled accommodation. The meals were more like warm, delicious homemade dishes rather than formal kaiseki cuisine. It was a bit too much to finish, which was a pity!

The moment I entered...
The moment I entered the facility, it was wonderful. Natural materials were used abundantly, which made me feel at ease. Check-in was relaxed as I could sit and enjoy tea. When guided to the room, the futon was already laid out, providing a sense of security knowing no one would enter until check-out. The room's decor was not overly extravagant but calming. The meals were not flashy but delicious and satisfying in quantity. The large public bath had a great view of the sea. As mentioned in reviews, the shower pressure was weak. The private bathroom in the room was spacious and open, allowing for a relaxing time. Thank you to all the staff for being kind to my elderly mother as well. I would love to visit again if I have another opportunity!

The view is spectacular.
The view from the room is absolutely stunning. The room is also very clean, making for a comfortable stay. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Although the room's bath is not an onsen, this is still a highly recommended accommodation in Ibaraki. Thank you to the ryokan staff for making our stay so pleasant.

Hospitality-filled service
Stayed on the day of the fireworks. Despite being busy, the staff provided warm and courteous service. They even gave us a pleasant send-off upon departure. The room was thoroughly cleaned, quiet, and allowed for a relaxing stay. While not an onsen, the semi-open-air bath had soft and soothing water. The sound of waves from Oarai's sea was very calming, and you can view Oarai Isosaki Shrine from the terrace. The collaboration of the shrine with the sunrise was stunningly beautiful—a breathtaking view. Since it was during the fireworks festival, we chose a plan without meals this time, but next time we would love to enjoy dining as well. Thank you very much!

Breakfast could be improved.
The room and view were satisfactory, but the meals were disappointing, especially breakfast. The natto, served in straw wrapping as a feature, was not tasty due to its hardness. The grilled horse mackerel and mackerel were average. Other items included chicken meatball soup and miso soup with rice. Despite paying over 90,000 yen for two people, such a poor breakfast was rare in my experience. This stay was meant as a gift for my elderly mother on Respect-for-the-Aged Day; however, the dining area’s sunken kotatsu seating caused strain on her legs and back. Climbing up and down stairs was also exhausting. In an aging society, universal design should be essential. I will not use this accommodation again.

The price seems reasonable. The room's space and view were excellent. However, the twin beds in the bedroom could have at least been semi-doubles. The amenities, including the hairdryer, were somewhat lacking. I don't think women would be satisfied with that. Overall, the service was good. The beverages in the room were satisfactory as well. The food was delicious! However, I felt that breakfast could have had a bit more variety. As for the room's bath, it’s a shame that you can’t enjoy the ocean view while soaking despite such a great scenery opportunity.

Sea, sea, sea!!
From the guest rooms, the large public bath, and even the dining area, you are greeted with breathtaking ocean views. At night, leave the window open to enjoy the soothing sound of waves as you sleep. Ah, what a luxury! The meals are absolutely satisfying in both quality and quantity. The staff's hospitality is impeccable. What an amazing accommodation!

Relaxing Detox
I stayed at this accommodation because I had work nearby the next day. I traveled by car, and the approach to the accommodation offered stunning views. From a road along the sea, you can see a large torii gate, and standing there is this accommodation. There is also an aquarium and a shrine nearby. Since there was no large signboard, I missed it initially. Upon inquiry, someone kindly stood in front of the accommodation to guide me. The small path from the gate to the entrance exudes traditional Japanese charm. Inside, most of it is tatami flooring—even inside the elevator! Guests are generally barefoot or in socks; for those concerned about slipping, non-slip socks might be better. The meals featured only local ingredients from Ibaraki Prefecture. Even the coffee was from a renowned local shop within the prefecture. Ibaraki boasts rich agricultural and marine products—it’s known as both Japan's southernmost apple-producing region and northernmost mandarin orange-producing region—and these fresh local delights were used abundantly in both breakfast and dinner, leaving me fully satisfied with both quality and quantity. At night, they served sparkling wine but thoughtfully prepared it so that I could enjoy any leftovers in my room—a gesture that truly touched me. The bath was spacious relative to the number of rooms available; I enjoyed soaking while gazing at views of the Pacific Ocean all by myself. Whether from my room or while bathing with ocean views before me, it felt like a complete detox for both body and mind. The collection of books here was also impressive—ranging from rare reprints of works by literary masters from Japan’s Meiji era to original novels adapted into films set locally. This is an ideal place for relaxing while enjoying delicious local ingredients with serene ocean views!

It felt just like home.
Feel the comfort of walking barefoot from the entrance to the hallway, dining area, and even the large public bath, just like being at home. The relaxation in your Room, the sense of openness in front of the vast ocean at the large public bath, and satisfaction with meals—all contribute to a truly relaxing experience. I visited with my parents who are over 80 years old, and they seemed very relaxed as well. It was a highly satisfying trip for all of us.

I would definitely stay here again!
We stayed here for our wedding anniversary. The parking lot is located across the road from the building, and the staff kindly carried our luggage for us. Inside, we were greeted by a stylish and elegant space, and the view of the ocean from our Room was absolutely stunning. We stayed in a Room with a semi-open-air bath, and soaking in the bath while listening to the sound of waves was truly special. Waking up early to watch the sunrise from our Room was also an unforgettable experience. The food was delicious, allowing us to savor each ingredient's natural flavors. The post-bath relaxation area and library lounge filled with books had such a cozy atmosphere that we ended up spending more time there than planned. Breakfast was very tasty as well, though it felt like there was slightly too much food, so we couldn’t finish everything—which I regret! However, enjoying a meal while gazing at the ocean right in front of us made it all worthwhile! I would love to stay here again! The late check-out option is another delightful Point!

Thank you for your patronage.
The cuisine, hospitality, and service were highly satisfying. If I may suggest, it would be even better if the amenities were more comprehensive. The Onsen was excellent, and the fish served at breakfast was very delicious.

The best accommodation!
Step into the accommodation and you'll find yourself in a serene, otherworldly space. Enjoy warm hospitality, delicious meals, spacious rooms, a relaxing bath with a view of the refreshing sea, and post-bath beverages like beer or milk. Above all, walking barefoot throughout feels just like being at home (or in your private villa). It was truly a relaxing stay. The only minor downside was that the labels on the shampoo bottles in the bath were small and hard to read—larger and clearer labels would have been appreciated for older guests.

A Stay at the Accommodation in March
"Accommodation where you can truly relax, surrounded by the sound of waves." The large bath here is exceptional. The water temperature is perfect—hot enough to keep you warm long after bathing, yet comfortable to enter immediately. While not an Onsen, the use of natural spring water ensures a smooth and soothing experience without the prickly sensation often associated with tap water baths. With only two rooms lacking private baths, your chances of having this serene space all to yourself are high. The bath area features rare Towada stone and calming Hinoki wood, creating a tranquil atmosphere complemented by ocean views through slightly open windows that let in the gentle sound of waves. The post-bath relaxation area is equally impressive. Recline on thoughtfully designed chairs while enjoying complimentary cold drinks in solitude. You can even step out onto the deck to gaze at the sea before returning for another soak once you've cooled down. The interior design throughout the accommodation emphasizes natural materials like solid wood and uncoated concrete with cedar patterns, offering a harmonious blend of comfort and style. Walking barefoot on soft tatami mats or Hinoki floors adds an unparalleled sense of freedom for Japanese guests especially. Meals feature fresh local ingredients such as anglerfish hot pot (ankou nabe), ensuring both satisfaction and fullness. While the selection of alcohol is average in variety, it includes various local sake options worth trying—like Genshu from Tsukinoi Brewery enjoyed alongside moonlit waves (as shown in photos), which was simply exquisite. Staff maintain a modern balance between attentiveness and privacy but are always kind when approached. A small yet touching moment occurred when I noticed a cleaning staff member who seemed tired but instantly brightened up with a cheerful greeting upon seeing me—a testament to their dedication. This accommodation comes highly recommended for those seeking peace and tranquility amidst soothing ocean sounds.

I was able to relax.
There is a very calm atmosphere, and the staff's warm hospitality allowed me to spend a relaxing time. The post-bath area is always kept clean, and wherever you go, chairs and sandals are neatly arranged, which feels very pleasant. The breakfast was simple but everything was very delicious. However, it was unfortunate that the water pressure in the Room's shower was weak and the hair dryer's airflow was weak. I would like to visit again next time with dinner included.

For your first solo trip
I stayed for my first solo trip. I had visited twice before and chose Satoumitei for my solo birthday trip. The dinner is delicious, but the fish for breakfast is truly tasty, and the view from the dining area is really wonderful. I thought it would be nice to have something delicious for my first meal on my birthday, so I made a reservation, and it turned out to be a very comfortable time. The staff congratulated me on my birthday, and I was able to have a wonderful birthday. I felt cold inside the elevator, so I rated the facility 4 stars, but since I could also use the stairs, I didn't use it much except for meals, so it was just a minor concern. I would like to visit again, either alone or with my husband. Thank you for the comfortable time.

The sea, modern architecture, and delicious cuisine
Truly the sea, sea, sea!! For those who love the ocean, this is a property you should definitely stay at. In terms of service and entertainment, it may lack compared to other hotels, but the IKYU Diamond benefits of check-in at 14:30 and check-out at 12:00 are rare for a Japanese property, making it a delightful service. The exterior of the building is not particularly impressive, but the interior is modern and surprising. Regarding service, it doesn't feel like a refined service, nor does it have the welcoming atmosphere of a Japanese ryokan, so opinions may vary, but it was not an issue for me. Although it's not an onsen, the bath, including the one in the room, offers a view of the sea while listening to the sound of the waves, which was pleasant. (However, since it's not an onsen, I rated it 4 stars.) Meals are something to look forward to when staying at a property. For dinner, the main dish was monkfish hot pot, which was very filling. The crab chawanmushi, sashimi, and beef shabu-shabu were all very delicious. They mentioned, "We serve the dishes in the order they are prepared, not according to the speed at which guests eat," but it matched our eating pace. I thought it wasn't necessary to mention it. The breakfast of dried horse mackerel and mackerel, chicken meatball ginger soup, and clam miso soup were all truly delicious. It wasn't the typical ryokan style with a lot of dishes, but I thought this was true deliciousness. It was homely, yet a taste that couldn't be made at home. I liked it so much that I want to repeat my stay!
