  The food is delicious.

  As always, the meals were delicious. However, it might be better for us older guests if the dishes were served in smaller portions over time. It was disappointing that we couldn’t go out into the garden to enjoy nature—perhaps due to bear precautions.

Thank you also for your suggestion regarding meal service—“serving in smaller portions over time.” We will take it into consideration as we review how we serve our dishes going forward. On the other hand, we sincerely apologize for disappointing you by not being able to welcome you to “Danburi Chaya,” which you were looking forward to. At present, there have been no bear sightings reported in the area around our Accommodation. However, this year we have decided to prioritize guest safety and have suspended access to the garden as a precaution. We have installed an electric fence around the open-air bath area as a safety measure. However, it is difficult to station staff throughout the entire garden at all times, and closing Danburi Chaya was a very difficult decision. We truly wish we could offer you a relaxing time surrounded by nature as originally intended, and we share your disappointment. We would be grateful for your understanding.   I felt relaxed and refreshed.

  During Golden Week, we stayed one night at this Accommodation while traveling around Tohoku. The Room was spacious, with a separate bedroom and living area, plus a washbasin area and toilet. Everything was clean and well maintained. The shared areas also offered plenty to enjoy outside the Room, including massage chairs, a reading space, and a footbath. Meals were served in a relaxing semi-private setting where we could take our time; both the presentation and taste were excellent. In particular, we were extremely satisfied with the breakfast buffet—it was outstanding. The baths also had various tubs, and there was even time when I could use them privately. In the rain, with cherry blossom petals drifting down, it felt like an atmospheric space. However, one disappointment was that although I had heard women could choose their yukata, the dresser was locked so this wasn’t possible. There was no explanation of usage hours at check-in either; I would have appreciated clear guidance posted in front of the dresser. That left me quite disappointed.

  Has the head chef changed?

  We have stayed here many times, but when we visited again for the first time in several years, all four of us felt that the familiar staff were gone, most of the team had changed, and the dinner menu had changed quite a bit. That said, we appreciated the thoughtful attention to small details in the room.

  Dragon Eye

  I found this Facility on IKYU and liked it so much that I made a Reservation. Just as expected, I thoroughly enjoyed the Facility, the meals, and the Onsen (ceramic bath). During a conversation with the staff at dinner, we talked about Hachimantai’s Dragon Eye. They told me they had gone there after borrowing rental boots and that it was wonderful. So I went the next day right away. Like Zao Okama last year, I was moved by the breathtaking scenery. It was a truly great stay—enjoying both the magnificent nature and the delicious meals at the Facility. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

  We had a relaxing stay.

  In early October, a little before the peak autumn colors, I enjoyed a relaxing trip on the Hanawa Line. Because there are not many trains, I arrived too early on the way in, but they kindly provided Shuttle Service both ways. The Room was a very spacious second-floor guest room with an open-air bath, and it was extremely comfortable for spending long hours at ease. However, the Onsen temperature felt a bit hot for me, and the ceramic tub was deep, so it was slightly difficult to get in. This is just personal preference, but it might have been even better if there were a more lukewarm temperature like the large public bath and enough space to stretch out. Dinner was served in the Room and was delicious and relaxing. This was thanks to the very kind and friendly woman in charge of our Room service, who paced everything perfectly while checking on us—thank you very much. The main steak and abalone were served early enough that we could enjoy them before getting too full. The shabu-shabu came toward the end, but it was also an appropriate portion and easy to finish. Even though the sea is far away, the sashimi was fresh and delicious. In addition to complimentary champagne, we also enjoyed local beer and a sake tasting set that paired well with the meal. Because the dining area is separated from the bedroom area, cooking smells did not spread into where we slept. The large table with several candles created a wonderful atmosphere. Breakfast is buffet-style with many options; everything is easy to take in small dishes, it wasn’t noisy or crowded, and we could enjoy it at a relaxed pace as well. Everything tasted great and I ended up eating too much—but since check-out was at 12:00 p.m., I could take another bath, doze off a bit, and spend an unhurried morning timefully. Even though railway tracksand roads are nearby,, itit wwas quiet.. If this Accommodation were closer,, I would visit again againand again.. Thank you for taking care of us.. Thank you very much..

  I stayed with my fam...

  I stayed with my family. The room was on the first floor facing the street, so we could hear some traffic noise, but the space was well-separated with greenery and fences, creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The meals featured very delicious meat dishes; however, a few small black insects were flying around the ingredients and dining table. I hesitated to inform the staff but decided to proceed as I assumed it wouldn't change the situation. Unfortunately, we also noticed them at the breakfast buffet area in the morning, which my family observed as well. This was very disappointing in terms of hygiene, so I rated it 1 star. Additionally, I found that the indoor bath area was quite dimly lit and hard to see clearly. Regarding our room's washbasin and toilet area, I felt that there might be no need for a curtain (or it would be better if it could be secured to a side pillar). Although I debated whether or not to post this review, I hope these issues will be improved in the future.

  A bit disappointing

  Overall, it was very good. The Room was spacious and comfortable even for three people. However, there were some disappointments: The Room was on the second floor, and access was only via stairs as there was no elevator, which might be inconvenient in the future. While the meals were satisfying, the server being a foreigner made it difficult to get accurate answers to questions (such as how to eat certain dishes). It was unfortunate that we had to figure things out on our own.

  Would visit again.

  I stayed here as a stopover accommodation during my trip to Tohoku without high expectations. The place is cozy, and you can feel the owner's thoughtful touches everywhere. The garden is wonderful, making it a relaxing accommodation. The well-prepared breakfast buffet was particularly impressive. While the location isn't ideal and the view may not be great, the garden makes up for it. Since my stay was brief as a stopover, I believe it's worth making this place a destination for a longer stay next time.

  The best-ranked accommodation I have ever stayed at.

  Various event rooms, footbath rooms, a beautiful garden and tea house, JVC audio subtly placed in the room, clean rooms, and delicious in-room dining. The owner's creativity is evident everywhere, making it a wonderful accommodation full of hospitality. Oh, and even the small details like the stylish lock on the toilet door were impressive. Just one thing to note for everyone: We stayed in a room where the bedroom was slightly elevated. My husband seemed to be half-asleep at night and stepped off the bed without noticing the difference in level, causing him to stumble and fall. Thankfully he wasn't seriously hurt, but please be careful. By the way, Fudo Waterfall near the accommodation is a must-see!

  Recommended accommodation.

  We stayed here on our way home from Hokkaido to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. During dinner, the hostess kindly offered to take a commemorative photo of us and brought her camera. The next day at checkout, we received the photo attached to a message card. This thoughtful gesture truly made us happy. The food was excellent, and the Room was clean and very comfortable.

  Thank you very much for visiting us. We are delighted to hear your kind words about our bath and meals! Our Onsen water contains a mildly alkaline composition, which is closest to human skin. It is effective for cuts, burns, and chronic skin diseases, making it a popular "beauty bath." Additionally, the salt content on the skin prevents sweat evaporation, providing excellent heat retention benefits. It seems you also enjoyed Danburi Chaya. Danburi Chaya features an open terrace where you can admire the highland forest and seasonal flowers. We offer local sake from Hachimantai as a welcome drink along with the landlady's special amazake and snacks. There is also a footbath available—enjoying local sake while soaking your feet in the footbath is highly recommended! As summer approaches, several varieties of roses will bloom beautifully.   It was a healing space that made us forget about everyday life.

  Everything was wonderful. At night, when I passed by the front desk, there were headache medicine, stomach medicine, and water placed there. For some reason, I was moved and laughed. Both the late-night snack and breakfast were so delicious that I didn't want to put anything else in my mouth for the first time in a while. This time it was a special room, but the open-air bath in the Room was lovely, and so was the large public bath. It was a one-night stay, but I feel like staying for several days. I would love to visit again.

  Hospitality and thoughtfulness in various places.

  At the onset of snowfall, head to the Onsen in Hachimantai. You can enjoy the bath even at midnight, so you can relax in the open-air bath amidst the severe cold. There are both lukewarm and hot temperatures available for a leisurely experience. The drink-related services are well-provided upon arrival and in the morning. Breakfast offers a wide variety of options to cater to diverse tastes if you prefer Japanese cuisine. The soup was delicious.

  Cuisine, Onsen, garden, and foot bath recommended.

  The selectable main dishes for dinner were all very delicious. There are lounges in various places within the property, making it a charming and cozy stay. I would love to visit again if it were nearby, but it's quite difficult to get there without a car due to the limited number of train services. For a trip to Tohoku, this cost-effective stay is highly recommended.

  Recommended.

  I used it for my parents' birthday. As the reviews said, the meals were plentiful and all delicious. The breakfast buffet, in particular, had a gentle seasoning that my parents really enjoyed. There was a lot of nature, and I was able to relax.

It seems you particularly enjoyed the breakfast! Our country-style breakfast buffet, featuring about 40 varieties, uses plenty of simple and nostalgic local ingredients. We believe it is a gentle breakfast for both the heart and body, with offerings such as mushroom miso soup made with local miso brewery's koji miso, Hachimantai smoothies, tofu from Fusetubana-san, and natto made from soybeans grown by local farmers. Currently, the autumn leaves around our facility are at their peak. The winter snow-viewing open-air bath, spring cherry blossoms, and fresh greenery are also wonderful.
