As expected from the New Awaji Group.

We stayed here during a holiday. I have used several Ryokan in Sumoto Onsen before, but this time we had an especially wonderful stay. The private open-air bath let us fully enjoy the ocean view. We were also very grateful for the thoughtful consideration shown to my pregnant wife regarding the meals. Although the property shows some age, I think it is a Ryokan where you can have a truly pleasant stay.

    Good.

The Room feels a bit dated, but the view and the bath were excellent. Both dinner and breakfast were outstanding, and everything was delicious. The timing of the dishes served at dinner was perfect. It was a little disappointing that the breakfast buffet area was small and got crowded. The staff were also very attentive. I was surprised that the drinks in the Room refrigerator were so expensive.

Traveling to Awaji Island for work

After work, I entered “Onsen” into my navigation system, but searching by phone number came up as unknown. When I called the number listed, it was the Awaji Group line with an announcement saying it was outside business hours. Even though I wanted to let them know I would be late, there was no direct number shown. I then tried navigating by address. Locals or people nearby might know how to read it, but Japanese place names can have multiple readings, and I couldn’t figure it out easily—it took a lot of time. Since the Awaji Group is a huge company, shouldn’t they make it possible to search by phone number for car navigation systems? After finally looking forward to an Onsen when I was exhausted, it just made me even more tired. The Onsen itself was excellent, and dinner service—by a local staff member?—was wonderful and made me forget the frustration. I came from the Kanto area, but judging from the cars parked there (mostly Kobe and Osaka plates), I wondered if they don’t really expect guests from far away. I stayed at an Awaji Group Accommodation last year as well, and it was almost the same situation. It’s disappointing when the on-site team is working so hard. All over something as simple as listing a phone number.

    Excellent location.

Blessed with great weather, we enjoyed a truly luxurious time relaxing on the terrace while listening to the sound of the waves. If I had to mention one thing, it would have been perfect if the chair backrests reclined. The in-room open-air bath was available 24 hours a day, and we happily used it many times. It was a wonderful Accommodation that left us with lasting memories. We would love to stay again.

This was my first time staying here!

We always stay at Villa Rakuen. This time, as it was fully booked and we couldn’t reserve a villa, and because we were also interested in Horaku-yaki, we stayed with you. Thank you very much for accommodating our food allergies. Dinner was extremely satisfying, and the rice was delicious—I could tell you use excellent rice both in the morning and evening. The Awaji fresh-pressed sake was also outstanding, and I’d like to order some for myself. The young staff worked very hard, which made me feel refreshed! It may not match Villa Rakuen’s hospitality or cuisine, but I think it is a very good Hotel for younger guests. Thank you very much.

    We appreciate the staff's support.

I have stayed at three of the group accommodations before, but this was my first time at this property. The large public bath, with its indoor bath, open-air bath, and sauna, is simpler compared to nearby group accommodations. However, since there are fewer rooms here, it wasn’t crowded. The quality of the Onsen water was excellent and personally very satisfying. I also enjoyed being able to visit the Onsens of other group accommodations. The private Onsen in the room was amazing as I could listen to the sound of waves while relaxing. The meals were delicious as well. We stayed here to celebrate my eldest daughter’s birthday and were surprised with a cake and sparkling wine brought by staff members—this thoughtful gesture made our stay even more special. The two female staff members who assisted during that moment, along with those who guided us to our room during check-in and served us dinner in the evening—all provided exceptional service that warmed both my heart and my family’s hearts. It turned out to be a truly memorable trip for us. We would love to stay here again in the future! Thank you very much!

It was a Hotel that satisfied everything.

This was my second stay, and everything, from the staff's service to the quality of the meals, had improved even further since my last visit. It was another highly satisfying trip.

    The view is spectacular.

The view and the private open-air bath in the room, which I was most looking forward to, were truly exceptional and lived up to expectations. However, I was disappointed with the quality of the food (especially the breakfast buffet) and the inadequate service provided by foreign staff during room and restaurant guidance. It was a moment that made me keenly feel how Japan's unique charm can be diminished when there is an excessive increase in foreign tourists and workers. Not only foreign manners or morals but also a recent decline in Japanese morals affected my travel experience negatively. To avoid spoiling my trip mood, I decided not to visit the public bath as initially planned after observing other guests. Instead, I fully enjoyed the private open-air bath in my room, which turned out to be great. The location and facilities are excellent, so I would like to stay again; however, I'm slightly hesitant due to concerns about guest quality.

We chose to stay here for a trip before my wife gives birth. Everything was perfect! We would love to visit regularly even after our daughter is born!

    A cozy and compact Hotel

We were guided to the Room, but the explanation of the Facility seemed a bit rushed, possibly due to inexperience, making it hard to understand where things were. The view of the sea directly in front of the Room was wonderful. The breakfast buffet felt limited in variety, and there was no souvenir corner available. It was slightly difficult to find our way to another bath within the New Awaji group. The staff's hospitality was pleasant and greatly appreciated by everyone.

I would not consider using it again.

Room I stayed in a 10-tatami mat Japanese-style room, but the worn-out tatami and splinters bothered me, making it hard to enjoy the room. The view was great, which was unfortunate. Customer Service / Meals At check-in, the staff repeatedly mentioned "2 nights for one person" at the counter in front of other guests. Some customers may not want such details announced publicly multiple times. There was no explanation about dishes like appetizers or sashimi platters; they just said "Here are your appetizers" and left. I wanted to hear more about the dishes to enjoy them better. The solid fuel for the hot pot burned out quickly, leaving some food undercooked and uneaten. Although there were many young staff members who seemed competent, their service didn’t quite resonate with me personally. Facility / Onsen The bath in the main building was far away, and there wasn’t enough explanation on how to get there at first, so I got lost. It left an impression of inconvenience. I love large baths like Kuniumi no Yu or Amamiya no Shizuku; next time I’d prefer staying at another hotel within this chain instead.

    Some disappointing aspects

The room view was excellent, especially on a sunny day. Dinner was adequate. Breakfast was an ordinary buffet, but it was inconvenient to have to take off and put on shoes each time when entering the tatami area while carrying food with both hands. Additionally, slippers were taken away and went missing. This is a foreseeable issue and cannot simply be dismissed as bad luck. A similar slipper loss occurred at the bathhouse, leaving me unable to call for help and having to return barefoot to the room. This could have been prevented with some kind of marking system for slippers. The morning bath had a noticeable chlorine smell due to the circulation system, which was disappointing.

An accommodation with excellent bath tours and traditional Japanese breakfast.

The accommodation featured an in-room open-air bath, four different baths to enjoy, and a wonderful Japanese breakfast. The staff's guidance was excellent. The complimentary grape juice in the lobby was also delicious. However, some aspects of the facility design stood out as slightly inconvenient, such as the relationship between toilet stalls and doors and the narrow elevator.

    It was excellent.

It was raining heavily, but I felt touched when the staff kindly ran through the strong rain and wind to bring a large umbrella to my car!

Meals are at a business hotel level.

The quality of meals at the New Awaji group is generally low, and the breakfast here was particularly at a business hotel level. However, the facility and staff service are excellent, so I believe you will be satisfied with a No Meals Included stay.

    Onsen

The room's bath had a view of the ocean, which was absolutely amazing and relaxing. I used it multiple times. The room was spacious, and the ocean view from the window was also stunning. You can choose your yukata, and you can also enjoy baths in other areas within the same group, which was fantastic. Dinner was incredibly delicious with generous portions; I was so full that I couldn't even eat dessert. Breakfast included plenty of vegetables, salads, and fruits, all very tasty. The staff at the accommodation were kind and pleasant to interact with. I would love to stay here again and highly recommend this accommodation to my friends!

Guest satisfaction may vary depending on the staff.

As the title suggests, the hospitality of the staff serving dinner made for a pleasant dining experience at first. Our group was attended by a foreign staff member. In the beginning, everything from meal explanations to service was smooth and enjoyable. However, towards the latter half, perhaps due to familiarity or fatigue, we could no longer understand what they were saying. Working in a non-native language is undoubtedly challenging, and I sympathize with that effort. However, at the very least, I would have appreciated basic explanations about what we were eating and how to eat it. On the other hand, another family group next to us had a different staff member who provided detailed meal explanations and even took family photos for them. The atmosphere remained lively throughout their meal (I noticed during check-in that these photos were given as keepsakes). Witnessing this stark contrast left me disheartened and made our dining experience unenjoyable. I had already noticed from reviews of this accommodation that opinions varied greatly depending on individual experiences before our stay. After this visit, I now understand why. I will not be returning again.

    Birthday Event

I had always wanted to visit Awaji Island for sightseeing. I decided to go for my birthday. A bath with a view of the sea. I enjoyed trying out various baths. It was very nice to have towels available at each bath. The sashimi was also very delicious. And I watched the sunrise from the Room. It was amazing. Thank you very much.

    It was the best stay!

I stayed in a room with an open-air bath and was simply amazed by its luxury. The spacious and clean room, based on a Japanese-style design, offered a dream-like open-air onsen with a panoramic view of Osaka Bay. After bathing, wearing a bathrobe and relaxing on the balcony while gazing at the sea was an unparalleled moment of bliss. Although I had the opportunity to tour other baths, the comfort of the room's open-air onsen was so delightful that I ended up not visiting any other onsens. The meals were also delightful, allowing me to savor fresh seafood from Awaji Island, with the sashimi sea urchin being particularly exquisite. The onion shochu was unique and perfect for enjoying local flavors. The houraku-yaki served during the evening course made quite an impact and is something one should experience at least once. Dining while watching the sunset perfectly concluded my day; going early turned out to be a great decision. Although there wasn't anything particularly novel about the breakfast buffet, all of the Japanese dishes offered were delicious and catered well to adult tastes. One concern was that conversations from neighboring rooms' open-air baths could be heard from our own bath. Fortunately, we were only listeners in this case. Those concerned about privacy might need to take note. Overall, it was an extremely fulfilling stay. It may not happen often but I would love to visit again someday.

As expected of the Hotel New Awaji Group

The impression was that there were many young staff members, but their high level of hospitality was excellent. The Tanada no Yu and Kuniumi no Yu were also very satisfying. This is a Hotel I would like to visit again.

    Great satisfaction

We stayed as a family of three. This time, we chose a 10-tatami mat Japanese-style room. It was sufficient for three people, but it seemed that the window couldn't be opened, and I thought it would have been nice to feel the seasonal breeze. The staff's service from check-in to check-out was excellent. Dinner was delicious, and we were so full that it was almost uncomfortable. The child had a children's meal, but it was almost the same as the adult's meal, and they were satisfied because they could eat each dish as it was brought out. We were very satisfied with the Onsen, as we could use the Onsen of three hotels. It was also great that we didn't have to bring bath towels and towels from the room. Breakfast was also very delicious, but it would be nice if the replenishment could be a bit quicker. After checking out, we went fishing at the neighboring New Awaji, and both the child and the parents enjoyed it very much. Thank you very much.

    It was a satisfying stay.

I booked this Property for a relaxing trip. The Facility and Room were very clean, and the amenities were so well-stocked that I didn't need to bring much. The staff were kind and friendly, and although there was a slight sense of inexperience as mentioned in other Reviews, it didn't bother me. There were a variety of Onsen, and it was very enjoyable to go on a hot spring tour by visiting affiliated Hotels. This time, I was looking forward to dishes made with Awaji Island ingredients and the nature-rich ocean view, and it exceeded my expectations, making my first trip to Awaji Island a wonderful memory. The weather wasn't great this time, but I would like to use this Property again when I come to Awaji Island for a revenge visit.

I was able to enjoy an extraordinary experience.

I stayed for one night and two days in a Japanese-style room. The bath was not too small and was just right. Regarding the meals, I was able to taste various seafood. However, the parking space was somewhat narrow, making it a bit difficult to exit.

    I visited for the fi...

I visited for the first time to relieve my daily fatigue. You can see the sea from anywhere inside the facility. Although my room was in front of the elevator, I could hear the sound of the waves but not any noise from the hallway, allowing me to spend a very peaceful time. The staff, including those who handled check-in and dinner, provided very pleasant service. I was also able to visit the hot springs at the neighboring facility, which greatly increased my satisfaction. It was a very good trip that healed both my body and mind, thank you very much. I would definitely like to stay again when I visit Awaji Island.

It was the best day ever.

I went on a solo trip for the first time since getting married, as my children have grown up. Until now, I have stayed with my family at Villa Rakuen, Satonoyado, and Hamarikyu Takuumi, and this time I stayed at Haruka in Hanaki for the first time. Although I felt it was a luxury to have a room with an open-air bath all to myself, I was able to enjoy a moment of forgetting the busyness of daily life. Especially for dinner, I was given a window seat with a view of the sea, and it coincided with the Mid-Autumn Festival, allowing me to enjoy delicious food and drinks with the beautiful moon as my companion. I was satisfied with the courteous service of the staff until I left. However, the disappointing part was that the air conditioner in the room made a rattling noise all the time, which might bother some people. I hope it will be improved. This time, I decided to stay with the Hotel New Awaji Group, but Hanaki was the only place where I could stay alone. In the future, as there are other nice rooms, I would be happy if there were more rooms available for solo stays during the off-season. Lastly, I would like to thank the staff who guided me to my room, the foreign staff during meals, and the front desk staff for their kindness. I look forward to the day I can stay again.
