    Delicious cuisine and a wonderful Onsen

    Thank you for taking care of us during our Multiple Night Stay. We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and we also reserved a private bath, so we were able to fully enjoy the Onsen. In addition, dinner included items such as abalone and cheese fondue, and the seasoning was excellent. Due to the bus schedule, we arrived earlier than expected, but you kindly showed us to our Room early. We were tired from the heat and the long journey, so it was a great help. This is an Accommodation we would definitely like to visit again. Thank you very much.

    The Best Birthday Present

    We celebrated his birthday here. We chose this Accommodation to celebrate as the last couple before we become husband and wife when we visit Shimabara again next year. We were truly impressed by the staff’s thoughtful hospitality, and the locally sourced cuisine was absolutely delicious. The in-Room sauna and bath were both excellent. Everything was perfect.

    Delicious meals

    We stayed for three nights, and the meals kept getting better each day—we were very satisfied. We could really feel the chef’s skill and great sense in both technique and choice of ingredients. We stay over 50 nights a year, and I’m sure this place is easily in our top three for this year. The second and third nights in particular were excellent. If you’re going, I recommend staying at least three nights. However, as there were three of us (my daughter and my spouse and I), the separate Room layout was nice, but the wash area felt outdated. I think it would have been much better if even one of the two toilets had been renovated—removing the unnecessary bathtub—and making the sink area more practical to use. The staff were also great, and we would like to come again.

    First Trip to Kyushu

    We were very satisfied with both the Onsen and the meals. We sincerely appreciate the staff’s thoughtful hospitality during our dining experience.

    The hot water was great.

    The Room has a separate living area and bedroom. It seems two Rooms from the early days were renovated into one. Very easy to use. The large public bath switches between men and women at night and in the morning, and each one has its own charm, making it enjoyable. Above all, the abundant flow of fresh hot spring water is wonderful. Truly worthy of being called a renowned Accommodation. If I had to mention one thing, the Accommodation itself feels like a maze with many steps, so it took some time to get used to—but that’s common in long-established Ryokan that have been expanded over time. Even the maze-like layout was part of the fun. We had a great time. Thank you very much.

    Excellent hot spring water quality.

    It was my first time in a while to enjoy an Onsen with water quality I was truly satisfied with. It might have been even better than Kusatsu Onsen. I’d like to visit again.

    The teppanyaki was outstanding!

    The teppanyaki was absolutely delicious—especially the abalone, grouper, other seafood, Nagasaki beef, and fresh vegetables. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

    A hidden hot spring you’ll love!

    A secluded hot spring Hotel deep in the mountains, finally reached after taking a bus from Nagasaki Airport via Isahaya and crossing a mountain road with hairpin turns. It was a Hotel with silky-smooth, high-quality hot spring water. The Room was spacious and stylish, and I was able to relax and unwind at a leisurely pace. There were two open-air baths and two indoor baths, which I enjoyed alternately.

    Long-established Ryokan

    It was a Japanese-modern Ryokan with an atmosphere I really liked. The Room was spacious and relaxing, though I did feel it wasn’t barrier-free. The hot water flow in the in-room bath and at the sink was weak, but when I contacted them they responded right away. I’m not sure if it was due to the Onsen water quality, but I hope it will be managed going forward. The Onsen was therapeutic for me as someone with atopic dermatitis! The temperature wasn’t too hot, so I could soak slowly and comfortably. Both breakfast and dinner were served warm and were delicious!! Every dish looked elegant, from the tableware to the presentation—it was wonderful! We could dine in a private room, so we didn’t have to worry about others and could enjoy our meal in a private space. If I had one comment, the dining area was cold... I rarely stay at a Ryokan, so it became a great memory to spend such a luxurious time.

    It was amazing!

    I stayed here to celebrate my companion’s birthday. What I was most satisfied with this time was the food. We chose the teppanyaki Plan, and we were both truly impressed by how delicious the vegetables were! During our trip we ate many different things, but when we think back on what was the best, it was the vegetables grilled on the teppan. We were also very satisfied with the Room and its open-air bath, the guest-only lounge, and other services. Thank you very much for the birthday celebration dessert as well!

    It was a disappointing stay.

    Unfortunately, it was a disappointing stay. Although I booked through IKYU.com and chose an affordable Plan, there was no explanation about the "Eight Hot Springs Tour with Milky White Source Flowing Water." Assuming it might be due to an additional fee, I decided not to use it, only to find out after checking out that it was free of charge. The Room was very small and equipped with outdated Facilities; it felt like an old Business Hotel setup and accessing the Room was extremely inconvenient. This trip covered Shimabara and Amakusa over a week, and all other Accommodations provided pleasant stays. However, my stay in Unzen turned out to be truly disappointing. Regardless of the conditions, please ensure guests are treated in a way that does not dampen their spirits. Thank you.

    The bath had a mild ...

    The bath had a mild sulfur scent and warmed me up to the core. The room was spacious, allowing for a relaxing stay. Additionally, the tempura at dinner was delicious and served in just the right portion. It was an accommodation I would love to visit again.

    It was a very nice accommodation.

    "Everything you could wish for" was available, and the hospitality was well thought out. The meals at the dining area were also delicious. I chose a room with a sauna, and overall, it offered great value for money.

    The Onsen is absolutely amazing!

    The natural flow Onsen made my skin smooth and silky. I could enjoy a relaxing soak without any crowds. With several options including private baths, I had a very leisurely time! I chose the No Meals Included plan, but Fukudaya kindly recommended nearby restaurants, and I had a delicious Champon. I also enjoyed some drinks, making it a truly fulfilling experience. The "Hell Tour" was at a perfect distance to enjoy. Plus, the bus stop is right in front of the property.

    Delicious meals!

    We appreciate the hospitality and thoughtfulness of the front desk and staff. The flavor and portion of the meals were very satisfying, incredibly delicious, and filling. Next time, we are considering staying in a slightly larger room. Thank you very much.

    I visited after a long time, and

    I stayed at the annex for the first time due to good reviews about the tempura, but while the price was first-class, everything else was third-rate. We arrived about 30 minutes early and were prepared to wait, but upon entering, we were met with a look of "What do you want?" It wasn't until we said, "We are staying here today," that we received any response. When heading to the room, shouldn't guests normally be allowed to use the elevator? As for the food: The service was unacceptable, and for that price, it was outrageously expensive. If a restaurant served food like that at such prices, I would never go there. While they seemed particular about ingredients, wouldn't simple seasoning like salt on lightly fried items suffice? The tempura quality was average at best. Regarding the hot spring: It used to have a stronger sulfur smell in the past—has it changed? I had been looking forward to enjoying a sulfur spring and found this disappointing. Lastly: Although there was an apology during checkout, not even seeing us off is rare for an accommodation. The smaller setup before building this annex felt much better overall; there wasn’t any sense of refined hospitality here. Considering all this in relation to its cost: if you're offering an upgraded annex or higher-grade plans with improved cuisine options as advertised—then upgrading staff training should come first.

    I had a relaxing and refreshing stay.

    I stayed at Fukudaya's annex for the first time. The staff, mostly older, provided excellent service with attentiveness and warm smiles, creating a nostalgic and comforting atmosphere. The Onsen's water quality was excellent, and the open-air bath in the Room offered a relaxing experience under the starry night sky. There were also two open-air baths, each with its own charm. The meals were simple yet delicious, providing a satisfying dining experience.

    The milky sulfur hot spring is exceptional.

    At the end of summer, when the heat still lingers, I thought Unzen might be a bit cooler and decided to stay at Fukudaya, a nearby accommodation. I made a last-minute reservation two days prior with an affordable "last-minute discount plan" without high expectations, but it turned out to be a wonderful ryokan. The onsen quality was exceptional above all else. The room was newly renovated, spacious, clean, and even had a Nespresso machine, which greatly enhanced my satisfaction. I also enjoyed the meals; they were thoughtfully prepared and delicious for the price. Although Unzen town feels slightly quiet and subdued, new ryokans, cafes, and souvenir shops are gradually emerging—I look forward to its future development. With such amazing hot springs and attractions like Jigoku (Hell Valley), I hope efforts will continue to create an inviting town that attracts younger visitors!

    Affordable despite being a Room with an open-air bath

    We stayed here for a family trip. Compared to Onsen destinations around the Tokyo metropolitan area, it was reasonably priced even with a room that had an open-air bath. We traveled from Nagasaki Airport by rental car, and I think it might be a bit inconvenient without one. Since we rented a car, we were able to enjoy sightseeing in the Shimabara area the next day, which was very satisfying. The Ryokan exceeded our expectations with its Onsen and meals. The reason I rated the meals 4 is that while breakfast was delicious, it didn’t leave as much of an impression as dinner did. If there had been just one more standout feature, it would have been perfect!

    Japanese Modern and Comfortable

    We stayed here during our sightseeing trip as a couple. The facility had a modern Japanese style, showcasing great taste. The hotel was impeccably clean throughout. The room was spacious, clean, and provided a relaxing atmosphere. The onsen featured sulfur springs with both indoor and outdoor baths, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Meals were delicious, and we found ourselves indulging in drinks as well. The accommodation cost was reasonable, which was very helpful. The staff's hospitality was excellent, making it a memorable part of our trip. It truly was a great choice of hotel, earning praise from my wife as well. We would love to stay here again if given the chance!

    First Time at Unzen Onsen

    We stayed for a Multiple Night Stay of 2 nights. For dinner, we enjoyed a tempura kaiseki on the first night and a teppanyaki kaiseki on the second night. The tempura was incredibly delicious, prepared with such care that it left us impressed until the very end without any heaviness. Truly amazing! The teppanyaki was served in a private setting, featuring delicious Shimabara vegetables and premium Nagasaki beef that we thoroughly enjoyed. Breakfast showed thoughtful consideration by offering a different menu on the second day. The Room was very clean and had a calm atmosphere, allowing us to relax completely. The room amenities and beverages in the refrigerator were more than satisfactory. The Onsen exceeded our expectations. We would love to visit again during another season. Thanks to your wonderful staff, this trip became an unforgettable and enjoyable experience. Thank you very much!

    I stayed at Fukudaya Accommodation.

    This was our second stay, and we had a wonderful time with our family. The room, the cuisine, and the thoughtful hospitality of all the ryokan staff were top-notch. It’s unfortunate that reservations may become harder to secure, but we hope to soak in the open-air bath again in the near future and enjoy an extraordinary experience while gracefully listening to the gentle stream.

    It was comfortable.

    Unfortunately, it was raining, so I spent a relaxing time at the Hotel with my mother. The meals were served with excellent hospitality and, above all, were delicious. I enjoyed both the open-air bath and the indoor bath, which made for a pleasant experience. Although it was possible to use the open-air bath in our Room despite the rain, we decided not to use it.

    The open-air bath in the Room was particularly excellent. However, the other open-air baths were too hot to enter. The meals featured local ingredients and were very delicious. The staff were extremely pleasant, allowing us to enjoy a wonderful time.

    Onsen is the best!

    The room size was just right. I initially thought the bed might be too soft, but it was perfect, and I had a great night's sleep. The bath, as expected from a natural flowing Onsen, was absolutely amazing. However, the floor chair in the room had cushions and seat pads that kept sliding off, making it hard to relax. Also, all the lighting consisted of spotlights, which caused glare when applying makeup and made it quite inconvenient. The meals were decent overall.

    The Room was too dar...

    The Room was too dark to do makeup. There was a mirror, but it lacked proper lighting. The bathroom was also very dim, which was disappointing. The tempura at the meal was very delicious. I could fully enjoy the local ingredients. Being able to take home the chopsticks was a nice touch.
