    An Accommodation I’ve Always Wanted to Visit

    I’m from Yamaguchi, and ever since Kokian first opened I had hoped to visit someday. Overall, we were satisfied, and it’s an Accommodation we’d like to return to. The Facility—especially the courtyard and other visible areas—was very clean and well maintained, which made our stay extremely comfortable. The bath in our Room also allowed us to adjust the temperature. We traveled with a toddler, and having items such as a baby bath, baby soap, and an electric high chair prepared for us was a huge help. It was our first trip with our child so we had many concerns, but it made us want to come again with our little one. The Onsen water quality was excellent, and the Room was spacious, clean, charming, and full of atmosphere. We’d love to visit again when we can relax and take our time. There were a few points I noticed; I would appreciate it if you could consider improvements: 1) Flexible service This may be partly because the staff member who assisted us was young, but it concerned me that while carrying our luggage from reception to the Room they dropped some items along the way and offered only a brief apology. Our belongings weren’t particularly valuable so it wasn’t a major issue this time, but if an expensive bag were dropped or something were damaged or stained it would be very upsetting. I think more careful handling is needed. We did have many small items which may have contributed; however, arranging how items are carried—and responding appropriately if something is dropped—would be appreciated. Also upon arrival we wanted to change diapers and breastfeed right away, so we asked about this; however we were told there wasn’t a place available until after being shown to the Room. If there is any way to accommodate families with children (even just providing somewhere for diaper changes), it would be very helpful. 2) Amenities in the large public bath There was no facial cleanser inside the large public bath area at all. After using makeup remover I couldn’t find any cleanser and ended up washing my face with body soap. I later noticed facial cleanser at the vanity area while drying my hair after leaving. It would help if some facial cleanser could also be placed inside the large public bath area. 3) Explanation of dishes The food was delicious and we were very satisfied! However at dinner you said you would prepare the hot pot set-up, placed the ingredients on the table, and then left without explanation. We weren’t sure whether we should cook/boil everything ourselves or whether staff would return to do it for us. We waited about five minutes but no one came back, so we cooked it ourselves and ate it. A brief explanation beforehand would have been appreciated.

    It was very relaxing.

    I stayed here with my husband in winter last time, and this time with our daughter as a group of three. The Room was beautiful and spotless, and the open-air bath was wonderful. The large public bath was also quiet, and we were able to relax at our own pace. The meals were truly delicious, and we enjoyed them with our eyes as well, served in refreshing-looking tableware. The staff were kind, and we had a very comfortable stay. Next time, I’d like to visit in spring. This is my favorite Accommodation.

    An Accommodation I’ve been curious about for a long time

    This is an Accommodation I’d been wanting to visit for a long time. The atmosphere, the meals, and the staff’s hospitality were all excellent, and I had a very comfortable stay. It was also great that you can choose the main dish for dinner. The bath in the Room was wonderful—I enjoyed it many times, cooled off on the terrace, and was able to relax at my own pace. The only downside regarding the bath was that, since it’s an Onsen area in town, I could hear traffic and the sound of traffic signals. Still, it’s an Accommodation I’d love to visit again.

    The ultimate relaxing Accommodation surrounded by greenery

    The staff are kind and attentive. The Accommodation is thoroughly cleaned and feels very fresh. The food was excellent, beautifully presented, and served on lovely tableware, making the meals truly enjoyable. Even the greenery wet from the rain had a special charm, and it was a wonderful stay. It’s easy to see why so many guests return. This is an Accommodation I will definitely visit again.

    Very satisfied

    We took a family trip to Yamaguchi Prefecture to celebrate a birthday. We usually choose an Accommodation based on Reviews, but in the past we often felt disappointed when we actually visited places that had good Reviews. However, Koki-an was a wonderful Accommodation exactly as the Reviews described. That said, considering the price, the meals were fairly ordinary. (There was one dice-sized piece of tuna with the sashimi, but it seemed to have been cut and left out for a while, so it tasted tired and wasn’t good. I feel it would have left a better impression without it. The grilled fish also felt like it had been cooked earlier and then reheated. Since this is an Accommodation with few guests, I would have preferred freshly grilled fish even if it meant waiting a little.) Even so, it was an Accommodation with very high overall satisfaction. Thank you very much.

    It was wonderful.

    Thank you very much for taking such wonderful care of us. I made a Reservation as a gift to celebrate my mother and her best friend’s 77th birthday. The food was truly delicious, the Room was lovely, and above all, they were deeply moved by your heartfelt hospitality. They also said the large public bath and the Onsen in the Room were excellent—they enjoyed them five times during their stay. They were delighted that their skin felt so smooth. Being able to reunite and relax with her lifelong best friend from school days at such a wonderful Accommodation after decades was an unforgettable memory for my mother. Thank you again for all your thoughtful kindness and warm hospitality.

    A 10-day, 9-night trip

    My spouse and I traveled by car, and our daughter joined us by plane for just two nights and three days; we stayed at an Accommodation in Yuda Onsen. It was a wonderful Accommodation, just as reputed, and we were very satisfied—my wife and daughter were delighted. Although it is located in the city, it was remarkably quiet, with an elegant building. The meals were very delicious, and despite the number of guests the baths were not crowded; we ended up using only the large public bath without using the open-air bath in our Room. It has become one of the Accommodations we would like to stay at again.

    Everything is wonderful—I’d love to make this my regular Accommodation.

    Enjoying a beer in the garden after soaking in the Onsen was pure bliss. The open-air bath at the large public bath was outstanding. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t great, but I’m sure the stars are beautiful on a clear night. The homemade gelato was delicious. The open-air bath in the Room was also spacious and incredibly relaxing. Everything is free-flowing from the source, and the water was excellent. The Room was spacious and spotless—it felt like staying at a private villa. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and wonderful. Even each plate matched the food perfectly—excellent attention to detail. Everyone at the Accommodation was cheerful and kind, which made our stay very comfortable—thank you very much.

    Hospitality

    This was a truly wonderful Accommodation with a level of hospitality unlike anything I’ve experienced before. I was especially impressed that they even dried our umbrellas for us. The Room was spacious, and although we traveled with my elderly grandmother, there was an elevator and a chair at the washbasin, so we had no difficulties at all. It was genuinely a lovely Accommodation, and we will definitely return.

    A Supreme Moment

    This was my first stay. I was truly impressed by the Ryokan staff’s hospitality and the delicious breakfast and dinner, as well as the warm atmosphere throughout the property, its comfort, and how relaxing and easy it was to spend time in the Room—everything about this Accommodation was exceptional. It was the first Accommodation that made me feel like I could stay for days on end. When I travel to Yamaguchi again, I will definitely return.

    We have stayed here for four consecutive years. Since we travel with our elderly parents, having an open-air bath in the Room is very helpful. My father takes time to walk, so we truly appreciate your thoughtful support in preparing a wheelchair and adjusting the meal portions. The cuisine and the Onsen were both wonderful. We were able to relax, and our parents were very happy as well. Thank you very much.

    The Onsen water qual...

    The Onsen water quality is, of course, excellent, but I also felt thoughtful attention to the small details—shower water pressure, hair dryer airflow, a rotating brush dryer, amenities, underfloor heating in the wood-floored areas, and the quality of the towels. The large public bath and relaxation area were also very clean and well maintained. The meals were very satisfying as well, featuring plenty of seasonal ingredients and local specialties. However, the person who served breakfast was wearing perfume. It wasn’t a strong scent, but it mixed with the aroma of the food, so that was my only minus point. Still, this is an Onsen Accommodation I’d like to visit again and again.

    Unintentionally, Kokian

    As it happens, our sisters’ spouses are the same age, and this year they turned 70. The Accommodation had a wonderful atmosphere, and when we mentioned at dinner that they had just turned 70, the staff kindly wrote “Congratulations” on a plate for us. All four of us were truly moved. Every dish was delicious, and because they asked in advance about any ingredients we don’t like, there was nothing we couldn’t eat—we enjoyed everything to the very end. Perhaps because our Room had a private bath with free-flowing natural hot spring water, the large public bath was almost always empty. Next time, I would love to visit again for my own 70th birthday.

    Top-tier Accommodation

    Thoroughly attentive yet very simple service. I enjoyed a wonderful time with the 60°C free-flowing Onsen and exceptionally delicious, Yamaguchi-style cuisine. For me, it was one of the best Accommodations I have ever stayed at, both in Japan and abroad.

    Delicious Cuisine, Relaxing Onsen, and Attentive Service

    The journey took about six hours, but the warm and courteous welcome upon arrival instantly eased the fatigue of the long trip. It felt as though they genuinely wanted us to relax and enjoy our stay, leaving a great first impression. The Onsen had a gentle touch on the skin and seemed to suit my body well—I found myself going back for multiple soaks. The water left no heaviness after bathing, making it perfect for a leisurely getaway. The meals were delicately seasoned, with each dish crafted with care. They weren’t overly extravagant but still satisfying—just right to pair with some drinks. I found myself naturally reaching for another glass while enjoying the delicious food! That said, I did feel that the laminated menu used during check-in could be reconsidered for improvement. Above all, the staff were incredibly kind and attentive throughout our stay, making it an even more pleasant experience. Their subtle yet thoughtful hospitality provided a sense of comfort and reassurance—thank you for enhancing our visit! While the area around the Onsen felt slightly quiet, I would highly recommend this place to those looking to unwind from their travels in peace while enjoying soothing Onsen baths and delightful meals.

    This was our first stay as a couple at this accommodation. We were completely satisfied and will definitely return. The beautiful flower decorations everywhere were very soothing. The large public bath was clean, and by using it during meal times, we had it all to ourselves and could relax. The complimentary ice cream after the bath was also delicious. We were impressed by the taste of the food and the beauty of the tableware. For this accommodation fee, the level of satisfaction was truly exceptional. It was absolutely perfect. We look forward to visiting again for another relaxing experience.

    The Onsen, garden, and meals are excellent.

    I had a relaxing stay with my father. The autumn leaves on the maple trees were abundant and incredibly beautiful. The Onsen, with its natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source, allowed us to enjoy a luxurious time. The meals were sophisticated, made with carefully selected ingredients. This is an adult-oriented Onsen accommodation where you can spend quiet and peaceful moments. If it were a bit closer, I would love to visit more frequently.

    An Accommodation Where Politeness Brings Comfort

    All the services were courteous, and the cleanliness was impeccable, leaving us completely satisfied. What I loved the most was the food. The Japanese cuisine, made with broth free of any chemicals, was delightful and perfect for someone like me with chemical allergies. Highly recommended accommodation—it’s definitely worth a visit. I brought my grandchild along, and they absolutely loved the pool, going in multiple times!

    Everything except the bath is perfect.

    The temperature of the faucets and showers in the large public bath is unstable, and adjustments are needed to set the outdoor bath in the Room to a comfortable temperature. If these two points are improved, it would be perfect.

    From Check-in to Check-out

    Despite being in the city, it was a very quiet and relaxing accommodation. From arrival to departure, the staff maintained a perfect balance in their hospitality. It was neither overbearing nor lacking, providing us with a very comfortable experience. The room was clean, and we were able to unwind in the semi-open-air bath and footbath, which helped relieve our fatigue. The meals were also delicious. It was a memorable and wonderful accommodation.
