    An Accommodation that satisfies you in every way.

    After visiting Kamikochi, three friends and I stayed here. It’s a 10-minute walk from Sawando Bus Terminal. After arriving, we fully enjoyed the Onsen— the large public bath, meals, the private bath, and the open-air bath in our Room. The free-flowing private bath and the open-air bath in our Room were exceptional. Both dinner and breakfast featuring local ingredients were delicious, and there was also a great selection of drinks. The Room was thoughtfully appointed with local furniture and tapestries, a massage chair, a Dyson Airwrap dryer, and many other touches that made our stay comfortable. What impressed me most was how impeccably clean everything was. From the garden on arrival to the baths and guest room, everything felt fresh and serene, making our time there truly relaxing. This has become an Accommodation we would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

    Relaxing Accommodation

    Conveniently located near the bus stop for sightseeing in fresh green Kamikochi, with free parking available at the Accommodation. The open-air bath in the Room was wonderful, enjoyed while listening to the sound of the Azusa River stream. Meals were served in a private dining room, allowing us to relax, and the seasoning was delicious with just the right number of dishes—very satisfying. The tatami-floored interior felt comfortable like relaxing at home without slippers. It was a pity there were no beds. A lovely, calming Accommodation.

    It was a very cozy Accommodation where we could relax and take our time.

    After walking a lot in Kamikochi, I was truly grateful to return to the Accommodation and immediately soothe my tired feet in the in-room footbath. It was easy to use even when I felt a bit chilled, and I ended up enjoying it many times during my stay. Being able to relax in a footbath while looking out over the Azusa River is a special highlight unique to this Accommodation. Having a massage chair in the Room was also wonderful. It really helped relieve the fatigue from exploring Kamikochi. Because it’s a small Accommodation with only eight Rooms, the property felt very quiet and calm throughout. I rarely ran into other guests, which made it especially relaxing. This time I stayed on a Thursday-only special Plan, so dinner was slightly different from the usual menu. The taste and portion size were more than satisfying, but perhaps because there were fewer dishes, the meal felt a bit shorter than expected. Since I wanted to enjoy some drinks as well, I would have been even happier with a pace that allowed for a more leisurely dining experience. There are two bathing options: a large public bath and private baths. The large public bath may have fewer users—perhaps because some Rooms come with showers or open-air baths. The washing area is small and overall it feels compact. However, that also meant I could use it almost privately and enjoy an exceptionally quiet atmosphere. Warming up at night while gazing at the starry sky in a reclining-style bath was incredibly pleasant. The private bath has tatami flooring, which felt safe underfoot and made it easy to unwind. Time slots are secured on a first-come basis at check-in. Above all, the scenery of Kamikochi was breathtaking. Everywhere you look feels like a picture-perfect view—I found myself taking far more photos than expected. Beyond its magnificent natural beauty, I was also moved by the efforts of local people who continue protecting this environment through measures such as private car restrictions. The Accommodation is within walking distance of Sawando Bus Terminal, making it extremely convenient as a base for sightseeing in Kamikochi. It strikes an excellent balance between great access and peaceful surroundings—a truly wonderful place to stay.

    Your First Sawando Onsen

    Shiori-e, you were amazing. It was genuinely great, no flattery. The Room was great, and the tea, coffee, drinks in the fridge, meals… everything was excellent. Well… if I had to mention one thing: I ordered soba shochu with hot water, but it was lukewarm (really lukewarm). The wine was also fantastic—I got to try some rare wines! Next time, I’d love to visit during cherry blossom season. Thank you for taking care of me for my one-night stay. One more thing… the women’s cave-style bath had a bit of a sewer-like smell or something—it smelled a little.

    I’d like to stay here next summer.

    We stayed for two nights for snowshoeing in Kamikochi. On the first night, we only needed a place to sleep with no dinner, so we chose a Room without a bath, but we were able to use the Accommodation’s large public bath almost freely (the snowy outdoor view from the bath was wonderfully atmospheric). On the second night, we switched to a Room with an open-air bath. You can’t use soap or similar items in the in-room bath, but it was still very comfortable. As others have mentioned, the food was excellent—especially the deep-fried char, which was outstanding! It’s worth visiting just for that. The grilled fish and sashimi (including catfish) were so delicious it was hard to believe we were deep in the mountains of Nagano. Of course, the mountain vegetables and even the main dishes at dinner such as beef and pork were also great—the overall dining level is very high. One small disappointment is that even on a Multiple Night Stay, the meal menu stays the same. Since everything was so good, having the same meals for two days wasn’t an issue at all—but if it were three nights with no changes, I might hesitate. The amenities are average, but every staff member provided excellent service with thoughtful attention to detail throughout our stay. The car snow-clearing service in particular was extremely helpful. Next time, I’d love to visit Kamikochi in summer with my children and grandchildren and would definitely like to stay at this Accommodation again.

    We enjoyed a peaceful and fulfilling time.

    Located in a summer retreat, my visit in December was during the off-season, so there were few guests, allowing me to enjoy a peaceful and quiet time away from the daily hustle and bustle (with only about 10 rooms available, it might still feel calm even during peak season). The Onsen offered various bathing options including a large public bath, private baths, and in-room baths. The meals were all delicious and left both my wife and me deeply impressed. Above all, the warm hospitality of the staff, especially the hostess, was unforgettable. Listening to her handmade picture-story show while enjoying sake and pickles provided as part of an impromptu event created truly heartwarming moments. It was truly an excellent accommodation. I will definitely visit again.

    Limited number of rooms for a relaxing stay.

    Cozy and conveniently located for access to Kamikochi, I had a pleasant stay. The meals were small in portion but offered a variety of flavors with a seasonal touch, which was delightful. The milk in the refrigerator was fresh and odorless, perfect after a bath. However, the lack of doors in the public bath made it hard to relax fully during my time there.

    Second Stay

    I stayed here two years ago and thought I would stay again when visiting Kamikochi. Previously, I stayed in a Japanese-style room on the second floor, but this time I enjoyed my stay in a renovated room. I also used the private bath, which I hadn't tried before, and was able to relax while soaking in the Onsen. Both dinner and breakfast were extremely delicious. My wish to eat fried iwana (char) again came true. I will definitely stay here again when revisiting my beloved Kamikochi!

    We stayed for one ni...

    We stayed for one night on our way back from a family summer trip to Kamikochi. Located near the Sawando Bus Terminal, it was very convenient as guests could park their cars in the ryokan's parking lot. Since the accommodation has only a few rooms, we could enjoy the bath almost privately and relax. The room also had a massage chair, which helped relieve fatigue from hiking in Kamikochi. The staff who attended to us were very friendly and welcoming. Above all, the food was exceptional. Both dinner and breakfast were carefully prepared with great taste, allowing us to savor local ingredients. This is an accommodation we would love to stay at again when visiting Kamikochi!

    Delight in Onsen and Japanese cuisine.

    With a limited number of rooms, the staff provides very attentive service. It is a 30-minute bus ride from Kamikochi, but the next morning, due to rain, Kamikochi was closed to traffic at 8 AM. If I had stayed in accommodation in Kamikochi, it would have been quite inconvenient. I was able to relax my tired body with Japanese cuisine and an onsen, and I am very satisfied. I would love to stay here again if given the chance.

    It was a very nice accommodation.

    The accommodation has 8 rooms, making it not very large, but the rooms are spacious and impeccably clean. Each room is equipped with coffee and milk sourced from local shops. A massage chair and a Dyson hairdryer are also provided, and the windows offer a view of the Azusa River. The shared facilities, such as the lobby and bath, were never crowded, allowing for a private and relaxing experience. For dinner, private dining rooms were prepared for each guest, providing a quiet and enjoyable meal experience. The dishes featured seasonal ingredients from the local area with visually appealing presentations that were highly satisfying. The facilities and amenities are well-maintained, while the staff offered warm yet professional service, making for an exceptional stay.

    Very satisfied.

    We were very satisfied with everything, especially the cuisine. The location is convenient for sightseeing in Kamikochi, and we appreciated being able to use the dedicated parking lot. However, just one point: the washing area near the door of the Onsen entrance might be due to layout constraints, but if possible, we would appreciate any improvements.

    I had a relaxing stay.

    We were warmly welcomed at the parking lot upon arrival, and our luggage was carried for us, which left a great impression. We checked in at 3 PM and immediately enjoyed the onsen in a private and relaxing atmosphere. However, we noticed cobwebs on the stones of the cave bath and some floating debris in the onsen water, so more thorough cleaning might be appreciated. Dinner was delicious, and I enjoyed it slowly with some drinks; however, my husband found the portion slightly insufficient. He asked for a second serving of rice but it seemed to run out. The quantity might not be enough for men with larger appetites. For breakfast, most items were already served when we started eating; however, miso soup, side dishes, and salmon arrived later after my husband had almost finished half his meal. It would have been better if at least the miso soup was served alongside rice from the beginning. Despite these points, overall it was a lovely accommodation with great ambiance and excellent hospitality including a warm send-off upon departure. Thank you very much for your wonderful service!

    Quiet and relaxing time

    It was a very lovely Stays. The food was delicious, and it was unbelievably quiet at night. The best part was that the large public bath was open for private use at night! We could see a sky full of stars. The amenities felt like only the bare minimum was provided, and it was a bit disappointing that the washing area of the private bath was tatami. Other than that, it was perfect. It's a Property I would like to visit again!

    We stayed here the night before our trip to Kamikochi. Although we arrived early, we were able to check into our room after enjoying tea in the lobby and receiving an explanation of the facility. The room was clean and equipped with specialty coffee, milk, and snacks. Despite being close to the bus terminal, it was quiet and allowed us to relax comfortably. The private Onsen had a tatami floor, offering a unique experience despite its small size. We enjoyed soaking in it leisurely. Afterward, we moved from the cave-style bath in the large public bath area to the open-air bath. Following dinner, we also used our room's private open-air bath for a truly indulgent Onsen experience. Dinner was served in a private dining space with beautifully presented dishes that were both visually appealing and delicious. We also appreciated the small rice balls provided as a late-night snack. The room included amenities such as a massage chair and single armchair; however, sitting at low tables can be challenging as one gets older. It would be more convenient if there were additional chairs available in the room—hence my rating of 4 stars for facilities. Other than that minor point, everything else about our stay was exceptional with outstanding hospitality that allowed us to catch an early bus smoothly. Thank you very much for such an excellent experience! We look forward to staying here again in the future!

    For sightseeing in Kamikochi

    The service was very courteous, and I was impressed by the hospitality felt from the amenities provided in the room. Since I wanted to leave early in the morning for sightseeing in Kamikochi, I consulted in advance, and they prepared a bento for me. Both the dinner and the bento were very delicious, and the onsen was excellent. If you are planning to visit Kamikochi, I highly recommend this property.

    Everything was great from arrival to departure. The parking lot was a bit narrow, and the bathroom could have been brighter for an even better experience. I would love to stay here again.
