    If you think of it as being abroad...

    Is this intended for international guests? As others have noted, you should not expect the kind of service typically associated with a Ryokan. There is no staff at the front desk outside check-in and check-out hours, and even if you run into trouble, you may not be able to reach anyone by phone. If you think of it as renting a private villa, the room with an open-air bath was great. Meals are served in semi-private dining spaces, so you can relax without worrying about those around you. It came up as “recommended for families with babies” when I was searching for an Accommodation, but that is completely inaccurate. At the dining area I was told there was nowhere to sit, and they also said they could not provide things that are often available at similarly priced places—such as a diaper trash bin or bed rails. The bed setup was twin beds, but we were told they could not be pushed together, which was a first for me and very inconvenient. I also saw a Review saying that local TV channels do not work, but they did work during our stay. The food was delicious!

    I stayed for two nig...

    I stayed for two nights and three days on a weekend in November. The location was convenient as it was close to the highway interchange, which made traveling from outside the prefecture easy. It was also a good base for getting around Beppu city and other tourist spots. However, since it is located along the Yamanami Highway, there was heavy traffic on weekend mornings, including some noisy cars and motorcycles, which could be heard in the Room—this slightly offset the convenience of its location. The Room itself was spacious and comfortable for relaxing. It had an attached bath that allowed me to enjoy bathing at any time I liked. The private bath connected an indoor tub with an open-air one, making it quite large for a Room bath, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there.

    The room felt like a...

    The room felt like a row house, and there was a slightly musty smell when I entered, but it became unnoticeable over time. There is no service, but once you check in, you can come and go freely, and above all, being able to enter the Onsen at any time was very nice. I would like to visit again.
