    Was it too good before?

    I previously stayed in a Room on this site with a large balcony overlooking the town of Arima Onsen and truly enjoyed it. Even if it wasn’t to that level, I still had certain expectations. However, this mountain-side Room had no view at all, which was what I was most looking forward to. It was as disappointing as when I visited Lake Towada and ended up with a mountain-side view again. Since other guests may feel the same, please add clear notes/disclaimers about “mountain-side Rooms” and what to expect. The staff’s hospitality was very satisfying. That said, the large public bath area was quite messy, so more frequent checks would be better. Also, when dining at a late time, some items such as paper napkins were missing. It’s a great location, which makes these points stand out even more.

    The Host’s Favorite

    We made a Reservation at this Hotel because my husband had stayed here before and really loved the Onsen. It was our first time back in Arima Onsen in a while, and since it was also his first time trying the meals—and the restaurant had just been renovated—we decided to book. We were also able to reserve a Room where we could enjoy a Silver Onsen bath. The renovated restaurant was beautiful, and dinner was an Italian buffet, with Japanese dishes available as well, so we enjoyed a great variety. Breakfast was also a buffet in the same restaurant, but with different items from dinner, and we ate plenty of delicious food. Both dinner and breakfast offered paper cups for takeout, which made us happy since the Room only had sencha tea bags. The Onsen was very relaxing, and I could see why my husband likes it so much. The Silver Onsen bath in our Room was a view-bath style that you fill yourself, and it was wonderful to soak at our own pace. The view from the lobby was lovely too—it was a stay where we could unwind and enjoy great meals. Thank you very much.

    Staying with Pets

    We stayed here with our dog on this trip. Dinner was a kaiseki meal, and breakfast was a buffet, and everything was absolutely delicious! The Onsen was also very relaxing. The Room where pets are allowed was very spacious, and both we and our dog were able to unwind comfortably. Thank you very much. However, when moving from the pet-friendly building to the annex, we were a little disappointed by the plain, fire-door-like door. Each time we went to the large public bath or the restaurant, it made us feel as if we were being separated, which made us sad.

    It was a Room for staying with pets.

    The room was dark even during the day, even with the lights on. The pet sheets, trash bin, and cage were perfect. It was close to Arima Honmachi, so we enjoyed a stroll. The Onsen was gentle on the skin, and I wanted to stay in it forever. Amenities were well-prepared. The yukata pants felt a bit tight though (haha). The food was delicious. It’s a Hotel that makes you want to visit again!

    2-night, 3-day weekend trip

    The bath had excellent water quality, and the sauna was great to use. However, it was disappointing that meals and service were limited to dinner and breakfast included only, meaning we had to forgo the dinner cost. Additionally, breakfast was exactly the same both times, and there was no room guidance provided. Considering the price, it was unfortunate.

    Not ideal for solo travelers.

    Great Facility for families. The buffet is quite ordinary. Since it is the same as other Harvest facilities across the whole country, the taste of the meals is also quite average. There are many children, making it an excellent choice for family trips. It feels like a luxurious version of a super sento, so those looking for a calm and relaxing experience may not find it suitable.

    The Arima Onsen you've always wanted to experience...

    The room was in Harvest style and flawless. The dryness was minimal, which was a relief. However, the dinner buffet was underwhelming with limited options—no freshly fried tempura, and the roast beef was a bit tough. The only highlight was the availability of wine vinegar and olive oil. The sashimi pieces were very small and lacked freshness, making them unappetizing. Breakfast followed suit—disappointing and shabby. Surprisingly, there were no Onsen eggs available. Overall impression: the dining experience, including staff service, fell far short of expectations.

    Disappointing Points

    The staff at the reception was not accommodating. When I inquired about the items available for IKYU Diamond Members, they were unaware of it. The Onsen itself was good, but there was a smell of urine near the pouring area. I had concerns about hygiene. Having stayed at various Hotels and Ryokans before, this was the first time I encountered such an issue with odor.

    A Long-Awaited Stay

    1-Night Stay with "Room Assigned on Arrival" Plan The room seemed to be the cheapest option on a lower floor. It felt like guests were not expected to enjoy the view from the balcony, as it was dirty with dead leaves and muddy water, making it unusable. Meals, both breakfast and dinner, were neither particularly good nor bad but felt outdated for current times. Considering the Accommodation Fee, it was quite overpriced. I chose this for my wife's birthday, but unfortunately, it did not turn out to be a great trip.

    Birthday for Your Beloved Dog

    Stay with your beloved dog. The room was spacious and very clean. You can enjoy both the golden and silver waters of Arima Onsen, which was wonderful.

    Repeat guest

    I often use this Hotel when visiting my hometown in Kobe. It was disappointing that there was not even one bottle of mineral water in the Room. At checkout, despite having already made an Online Credit Card Payment through IKYU, I was charged the full amount again. Although I informed them that payment had been completed, it took a long time for them to confirm it. The female staff at the front desk responded with an unpleasant attitude, which left me feeling uncomfortable. Even though checkout time is 11:00 AM, I ended up leaving the Hotel at 11:30 AM and missed my scheduled meeting time.

    In the extreme cold, I stayed aiming for the Arima Golden Hot Spring, but due to a facility malfunction?, I couldn't enter the Golden Hot Spring. Caution is advised.

    Everything about this Hotel is disappointing.

    We visited with our dog this time. First, the dedicated entrance for dogs was hard to find. Although we followed the instructions to take the elevator from the parking lot, it didn’t work as described. The staff who said they would guide us never showed up. The system requires the representative to check in, get the key, and carry all luggage by themselves. The grand main entrance had no staff present at all. All staff spoke so softly that it was difficult to understand their explanations. The Onsen water seemed diluted and did not feel like authentic Arima hot spring water at all. After bathing, we had to change back into casual clothes just to go to the restaurant, which was inconvenient. The food was below average and disappointing. The Room cleaning was poor; there was a strong pet odor and extreme dryness in the air, causing severe allergies due to temperature differences and house dust for the first time in my life—sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes made it impossible to sleep. Even upon departure, not a single person came out for a send-off despite having many staff members around; they lacked proper training entirely. It fell far short of expectations compared with other resort trust services we've experienced before.

    A spacious and comfortable large public bath

    I stayed with my 13-year-old Chihuahua. The spacious room had non-slip flooring, allowing my beloved dog to run around safely. With a sofa bed available, we could also relax comfortably. The large public bath was very pleasant and spacious. The view from the open-air bath was particularly good, and soaking in the open-air bath while looking at the clear morning sky was exceptional. Dinner was a combination of sukiyaki hot pot and buffet, with plenty of meat and vegetables. However, the portions are large, so those who want to enjoy the buffet might end up overeating. Overall, I think this is a recommended Stays not only for trips with your beloved dog but also for family trips or trips with friends.

    I asked at the restaurant if the sake was ginjo, but they couldn't answer.

    I asked at the restaurant whether the sake was Ginjo-shu, but they couldn't answer. / I asked whether ICOCA could be used on the bus at the top of Mt. Rokko and where to buy a one-way ticket to the cable car, but they couldn't answer. Their attitude was that guests should find out such things on their own! I think a proper Hotel would have a concierge who could provide clear answers... The Onsen does not provide towels or bath towels. Yet, the price is high.

    Enjoy the Onsen, but the meals might not be satisfactory.

    This time, we stayed with our pets. As expected, the air in Arima Onsen is clean, and both dogs enjoyed their walks. It is helpful that the hotel has a dog run. The room left a better impression than the reviews suggested. Although there was a bit of an elevator change and distance to the front desk, we were aware of it from the reviews, so it didn't bother us. The onsen is indeed Arima. The Kinsen and Ginsen are wonderful waters. Lastly, a word about the food: we opted for a banquet, and while we had high expectations for the meal, it was disappointing. Other than that, everything was great, and we enjoyed celebrating our one-year-old's birthday. Thank you.
