    This is the best Acc...

    This is the best Accommodation in the Okuhida Onsen area. The value for money is outstanding. We really enjoyed the open-air bath in the Room, the private open-air bath, and the lounge area after bathing. This was our second stay.

    A secluded Accommodation where you can savor the bounty of the mountains

    I stayed in the Ao room. The room was very beautiful, the open-air bath was wonderful, and the food was absolutely delicious. I informed you in advance about ingredients I can’t eat, and you kindly provided alternatives, which was a great help—and everything was still delicious. The women’s restroom near the dining area felt old; the flush mechanism was broken, and it would be even better if it had a washlet. Also, I really enjoyed the tomato juice served at breakfast, so I would be happy if it could be sold at the shop if possible.

    Thank you for a wond...

    Thank you for a wonderful stay. We stayed for two nights to celebrate my husband’s 70th birthday, and there was a wonderful surprise waiting in our Room. The meals were excellent—especially the shabu-shabu, which was the best we’ve ever had. We were able to fully enjoy both the private Onsen and the open-air bath in our Room at a leisurely pace, and truly relax. Thank you very much for your thoughtful hospitality.

    Thrilled with the Private Bath

    I chose this Accommodation because I wanted to enjoy a snowy Onsen bath. The open-air bath in the Room was great, but I was especially satisfied with the spacious private open-air bath—big enough for about 10 people—where I could soak while surrounded by snowy scenery. The meals weren’t a typical kaiseki course; everything showcased the local area, and I enjoyed them while finding them truly delicious. The service kept a comfortable distance—natural and not overdone—which made my stay even more relaxing. Considering the Room’s design and comfort, the excellent food, and the atmosphere of Fukuji Onsen, it offers great value for money and feels perfect for a quiet, unhurried getaway. The staff said, “There’s nothing here,” but what I found was the luxury of not having to do anything at all.

    Excellent hospitality

    It was my first stay, and it made me want to come back again for sure. Everything I wished for was perfectly prepared. The room location, amenities, room temperature, and meals—everything was excellent. I had a very pleasant stay during my 1-night, 2-day visit. There were no complaints at all. The warm guidance from all the staff provided an unparalleled sense of satisfaction beyond just the facilities. Thank you so much for your hospitality! This is truly a highly recommended Ryokan.

    Enjoy Autumn at Fukuji Onsen After a Long Time!

    Finally, the weather has cooled down a bit, and after sightseeing in Hida Furukawa, we stayed at this accommodation. The grilled ayu fish with roe cooked over an irori was tender to the bone, and we enjoyed local ingredients like Hida beef and large nameko mushrooms. In addition to the private open-air bath attached to our room, we also used the reserved hinoki bath. Both were spacious, and the onsen made our skin feel smooth. It was a charming accommodation where we could relax very comfortably.

    The Room was clean, ...

    The Room was clean, and the open-air bath was excellent. We enjoyed two private baths and were very satisfied. The meals had a great atmosphere with an irori (traditional Japanese hearth), and the portions were so generous that we couldn't finish them. They even prepared a late-night snack for us, which made us very happy.

    Early Summer in Okuhida

    We chose this accommodation to indulge a little and celebrate her special occasion. The staff informed us in advance about the impact of heavy rain, but it was hardly noticeable. On the day, we were blessed with good weather and enjoyed early summer in Okuhida while listening to the sounds of cicadas and the river from the open-air bath in a private area. The meals were not extravagant but showcased a dedication to local ingredients, and we will never forget how delicious the two types of beef and rice were. This is a precious accommodation where I can spend quality time with my beloved partner. While it is not an affordable option for us to visit frequently, we look forward to experiencing Okuhida in midwinter next time. Thank you very much!

    A bit disappointing

    This was my first visit since spring. The staff had changed significantly, and the overall impression was completely different from last time. The cleanliness of the bath area was a bit disappointing. Additionally, while the in-house information tablet worked during the explanation, it became unusable afterward, making it inconvenient to check private bath availability. I informed the front desk but received no response. Since this wasn’t my first stay and I already understood most of the facility information, I managed without assistance. My expectations were high because my previous visit was excellent. The food was as good as before; however, the grilled sweetfish (ayu) was overcooked and too firm. It’s a bit disappointing given how much I had been looking forward to it.

    My son wanted to visit an Onsen, so we searched online and he showed interest in Hida-ji, leading to our stay this time. The bath facilities, environment, meals, and staff service all received positive feedback from my family, making it a satisfying stay overall. However, some concerns included spider webs in the room, spiders appearing twice in the indoor bath, and dust on parts of the black floor upon entering the room. While the meals were excellent every time, we felt that the portions were too large to finish and it seemed wasteful. We hope this feedback will be helpful for future operations.     Requests for open-air and indoor baths are available.

    The flow of water in the open-air bath was insufficient, which was disappointing. The arrangement of the rocks on the footing felt unstable and concerning, especially for elderly guests. Additionally, the indoor bath was small, making it difficult to raise the temperature, and the water volume was also limited, which was unfortunate.

    The hospitality and meals were particularly satisfying.

    We had a relaxing and wonderful time. The dishes, made with plenty of local ingredients, truly gave us the feeling of being in Hida. Starting with wild vegetables picked by a male staff member, followed by salt-grilled ayu fish, gohei mochi, sashimi of trout and catfish (river puffer), as well as Hida beef served as sushi and steak—each dish was both luxurious and reflective of the simplicity of Hida's local charm. The staff member who guided us through the meal seemed very knowledgeable about the food, providing natural explanations that we appreciated. We also enjoyed a pleasant conversation about the weight of tableware when my wife brought it up. Breakfast was also delicious; even though I usually eat lightly in the morning, I ended up having seconds on rice. There was an announcement about tap water being cloudy at times, but with water purifiers installed, it didn’t bother us at all. The open-air bath had just the right temperature for a relaxing soak. The milk after bathing brought back nostalgic memories for me. The Room was clean and spacious—almost too luxurious for just two people to stay in! Thank you very much!

    Thank you, it was excellent.

    The room's bath was excellent. Both private baths were great as well. The size was just right, and the spring quality was gentle and warming. The meals featured hearth-cooked dishes, with an impressive use of wild plants that were delicious. Unfortunately, due to the rain, I couldn't visit the morning market or see the night illuminations, which was disappointing. I would love to visit again!

    Aoi Room: Hida Beef Feast

    Stayed at the accommodation as a base for Kamikochi sightseeing. Overall very satisfied, and considering the room and meals, the accommodation price was reasonable with a 5-star rating. I would be even more satisfied if the lounge and amenities were upgraded slightly, even with a slight increase in price. Enjoyed a relaxing time in a calm atmosphere. Thank you to all the staff. The private open-air bath was spacious enough for two people to enjoy comfortably.

    The open-air bath is disappointing.

    I made a reservation through IKYU, and since the price was reasonable, I visited with high expectations, but it was disappointing. First, the initial staff member who guided us gave off an intimidating impression, which dampened our spirits right away. The room overall felt cheaply constructed and lacked any sense of excitement upon entering. While there was a private bath in the room, the shared open-air bath had poor views and seemed exposed to parking lots or nearby houses. Additionally, it did not feel very clean. However, regarding meals, dishes like grilled char fish and gohei mochi were unique compared to typical accommodations and felt refreshing to try.

    I was very satisfied.

    This was my second stay. Since we were staying with three people, we reserved a larger room than last time. The room had a traditional feel while incorporating new elements in the details, allowing us to relax. The speakers and coffee were great! The meal centered around Hida beef was very satisfying. This time, we dined in a completely private room with an irori, but during the lava grilling, the ventilation couldn't keep up, causing smoke to linger in the room and the smell to cling to our yukata. It would be appreciated if this could be improved. When dining at the irori, there was quite a distance when reaching for food, making it difficult to take, and we were constantly concerned about the sleeves of our yukata. However, I think the satisfaction outweighed these issues. I would love to stay again in a season other than winter to see the different scenery. Thank you for your hospitality.

    The best hospitality

    I visited with my parents. We received a courteous welcome. The Japanese architecture of the building is wonderful, and the room is well-cleaned. You can enjoy the Onsen quietly while listening to the murmuring of the river. The food is varied and plentiful, bringing out the flavors of the ingredients, and it is very delicious. We had a truly wonderful time, relaxing. Thank you very much.

    I was healed.

    The quality of the food and the hot springs was excellent, making the trip worthwhile. I apologize for any inconvenience caused by the volume of the television. I look forward to visiting again in each season.

    Freshly made, no pre-made.

    The river fish I was looking forward to was not freshly grilled. The miso soup, lacking in dashi, was also cold. The irori was more of a performance, and aside from the Hida beef and hoba miso that I grilled myself, nothing else was freshly made. Despite being in Hida, the variety of pickles was limited and disappointing. The taro and the radish in the miso soup were inexplicably hard. I hope they reconsider the content and presentation of the dishes. The atmosphere of the inn itself was nice and relaxing, but it was unfortunate that the room was not thoroughly cleaned. Considering the price, the disappointing food makes me think I won't be visiting again.

    Recommended for couples traveling

    Overall, I was very satisfied. There was a rather large insect near the entrance of the private bath, so I will deduct one star for the bath. *I think it's unavoidable due to the location. I would like to visit again in the winter season!

    Enjoy the blissful feeling of travel!

    15:20 arrival. Welcomed by the staff and checked in. Walked to the room on a floor that seemed polished to a black shine. The spacious and serene atmosphere, along with the sturdy beams of the traditional Japanese house-style decor, evoked a nostalgic feeling, while the light streaming in from the large windows and the natural greenery relaxed my heart. The solid wood counter was dynamic, and the furnishings had a tasteful charm, leaving a good impression. Checking the tablet, I found the stone bath was available, so I headed there immediately. Listening to the flow of the river and surrounded by greenery, I soaked leisurely, feeling my heart open up with a sense of "Ah, I'm glad I came." The milk after the bath seeped into my warm body, feeling pleasant. Thus, it was time for dinner. Even in a private room, I felt the presence of the irori, with hot Iwana fish and Gohei mochi. Each dish placed over the wooden arch spanning the irori and the successive dishes were thoughtfully prepared and delicious, making the sake flow easily. The final rice dish was also exquisite. I was thrilled to receive rice balls for a night snack. Thanks to the bath, I stayed warm all night and slept soundly. Upon waking, I took a bath in the open-air bath of the room. Ah, it felt so good. Fully savoring the travel mood, it was a time of great satisfaction. Breakfast was also full of local cuisine, allowing me to fully enjoy the blissful travel feeling with my whole body. After checking out, the staff took a photo of me at the entrance, and I left the inn. "Let's come again next time!" I thought as I started the engine.
