    The female staff member who explained everything in our Room was outstanding.

    I chose this property based on Reviews and access. Disappointing points: The Room was spacious, but the layout made it easy to bump into things in places. There were stone sections, and hitting a corner was extremely painful. The open-air bath had a slightly slanted entrance to the tub, which felt scary. For some reason, the hot water seemed to drain away quickly. Above all, the shower was difficult to use. The wooden bath floor felt slippery as soon as I stepped in. There was no hair cap among the amenities? The restroom was far too dark. The sleepwear was a yukata rather than samue; since this is a matter of preference, I would like guests to be able to choose either option. I also want them to properly check what is stocked in the refrigerator. Overall, I felt it wasn’t a good fit for me in many ways. Good points: The woman who came to explain everything gave very detailed guidance and shared how enjoyable Kyoto is, which made me happy. My 5-star rating for service is because her explanation was excellent. I was also glad that the birthday message was written so neatly and thoughtfully. Breakfast was delicious just as Reviews said—pizza baked in a wood-fired oven, chicken confit, Ogawa Coffee iced coffee, and more.

    This is an Accommodation I’d love to stay at again.

    It was my first mother-and-daughter trip in a long time with my daughter who lives in Tokyo. From the moment we left our luggage before check-in, the staff were wonderful. When I checked in and looked hot, a male staff member quickly brought me a cold wet towel. The staff we passed in the hallway, the staff who offered welcome drinks in the first-floor lobby, and the pregnant female staff member who guided us at breakfast (I wonder if she has started her maternity leave?)—everyone was so kind. The breakfast was delicious no matter what we chose, and the kitchen staff were also truly pleasant. We were completely satisfied with everything. The Room was clean and showed great taste. We rested comfortably. Perhaps because it’s not a large property, it was very quiet and relaxing. The beautifully arranged fresh flowers at the entrance were also wonderful. It became a truly enjoyable trip to Kyoto. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    We stayed in the Ann...

    We stayed in the Annex Twin. 　The location, the atmosphere of the Facility, and the staff’s hospitality were all excellent, and we had a very comfortable stay. In particular, the service from the lobby lounge staff and the drink service were wonderful—since it was conveniently located along our route back to our Room for a break during sightseeing, it was especially nice in summer. 　The bathroom was spacious, and we really enjoyed the hiba-wood bathtub with its pleasant aroma. However, the part that holds the shower head was loose and kept slipping down. We asked a staff member to fix it and it improved temporarily, but it soon became loose again—it seems like it’s time for a replacement. At bedtime, we were bothered by the noise from the ceiling ventilation fan next to the bed, so we asked the front desk to turn it off. But that also stopped ventilation in both the bathroom and toilet area, so in the end we had them turn it back on. 　The tatami room area was something we hadn’t seen at other Hotels before; it was surprisingly convenient and allowed us to relax comfortably. The windows could also be opened and closed, which was an unexpected benefit—we could listen to outside sounds and watch people passing by. 　It’s a Hotel we would definitely like to stay at again.

    This is my second st...

    This is my second stay. After my previous stay, I mentioned a small concern in a comment, and I received a prompt reply, which left a very positive impression and made me want to stay again. During this second visit, I was warmly asked at check-in if there was anything they could help with, which made me glad I came. The hallway leading to the Room and the interior atmosphere were both excellent. I will definitely stay here again.

    Late Summer

    I stayed with my daughter at the end of the summer holidays. Although it is close to Kyoto Station, this Hotel felt peaceful from the moment we entered. The staff provided excellent service, so we could stay with peace of mind. I would like to stay here again.

    Thank you very much for the wonderful hospitality. (Sorry for posting so late.) I wanted my old friends to experience your outstanding service as well, so we stayed here for our annual “Grandpa G Trip.” We walked from Kyoto Station, left our luggage, and first enjoyed some drinks in the lounge. After sightseeing at about four spots by taxi, we checked in at the Hotel. The gentlemen were delighted by the warm smiles of your female staff. (They’re simple like that—sorry!) Since it takes time for four people to take turns using the bath, we had considered going to a public bathhouse—one of Kyoto’s sightseeing highlights—but three of us said, “With such a wonderful bath here, we want to use this one.” So after dinner, we took turns bathing. Dinner was at Hanaroku. As always, an incredibly luxurious menu with thoughtful flavors. Since I’m the only one who drinks alcohol, this time I paired cocktails and three kinds of sake. Everyone kept saying how delicious it was. Breakfast was just as satisfying. On the second day we visited two more places by taxi before checking out. The 11:00 check-out time (extended until 12:00 for Diamond members) is greatly appreciated. Some people may not be fond of a group like ours from appearances alone, but we truly appreciate your warm hospitality. We hope to visit again soon.

    A cozy Hotel where you can experience Kyoto.

    I stayed here with my daughter on a trip to Kyoto. The location was great—close to the subway station, and Higashi Hongan-ji Temple is right next door, so we could visit while out for a walk. The interior had a Japanese atmosphere, and the Room felt like a Ryokan; we especially enjoyed the sliding entrance door and shoji screens. The hiba wood bath was very relaxing and helped us recover from our fatigue. Breakfast was delicious, and the four-cheese pizza was outstanding. Finally, the staff were very kind—they helped us find the shortest route to our destination and even suggested using the lounge after checkout, which felt like truly heartfelt service. I would love to stay here again next time.

    The maisonette-style...

    The maisonette-style Room didn’t suit us in our 60s. It might be fun for families with children, but going up and down the stairs each time was quite inconvenient. In the morning, we woke up to the sound of motorcycles outside. Because there is traffic, the noise was noticeable. The Facility also felt quite dated in many places. The only saving grace was that all the staff were very pleasant.

    We had a wonderful stay and truly enjoyed our time here.

    All staff members (including the cleaning team) were very courteous, and I had a very pleasant stay. There is no on-site parking, but there are affordable paid parking lots nearby, so I don’t think this will be an issue for guests arriving by car. Breakfast was also excellent—their signature pizza was baked fresh on the spot. The hotel offers a relaxing space where drinks (including alcohol) are available 24 hours a day, which made my stay very comfortable and restful. One minor point: the part below the shower head in the shower booth was broken, and water sprayed out to the side when using it. I hope it will be repaired.

    Tasteful in every way.

    Both dinner and breakfast service was attentive, and we enjoyed our meals comfortably. The food was delicious. Because the sofa is low, my heels hit it every time I sit down. I felt it might be a bit difficult for elderly guests or those with limited mobility to stand up. Other than that, everything was wonderful.

    It exceeded my expectations.

    The pleasant fragrance in the lobby, the chilled sencha tea and warm towel at check-in, and the courteous service—everything exceeded my expectations. The Room amenities and the hinoki bath were wonderful as well. The lounge’s complimentary drinks weren’t just “set out”; everything was clean and felt genuinely hospitable. Breakfast was also delicious. All of the staff carried themselves with poise, and I could really sense their professionalism. However, after breakfast, I shared an elevator with someone from housekeeping (I think), but there was no greeting and they didn’t operate any floor buttons either, which left me a little disappointed—perhaps they prefer not to do anything unnecessary. Even so, it was a fantastic stay. Thank you very much!

    The Appeal of Kanra Hotel

    Thank you very much for your hospitality the other day. All of the staff were incredibly kind and helpful, which made me very happy. The Room was stylish and comfortable, and I would definitely like to stay again. The breakfast buffet was excellent! Thank you also for helping with the birthday surprise!

    I stayed in the Anne...

    I stayed in the Annex Twin Room, 4th floor, Room 403. The Room was clean and comfortable. There is no Onsen or large public bath, but I stayed for the Japanese Black Wagyu teppanyaki dinner. It exceeded my expectations and was absolutely delicious. The young female staff member who served us was also very pleasant. I only found out after arriving that complimentary drinks, including beer, were available in the lobby. I was also happy to have a Diamond member benefit that allowed me to stay until 12:00 at check-out. The male staff member at check-in was very friendly as well. I personally keep a travel memories notebook, and I was truly touched by how carefully he filled it out for me. I regret that I couldn’t thank him directly. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    The maisonette Room ...

    The maisonette Room was inconvenient to use. Setting the key was difficult because it was pitch-dark and hard to see. The staircase was dark, and carrying a heavy suitcase downstairs was tough. It was also strange to have a sink in the living room. There was no coffee in the Room, and the power outlets were hard to find. The low sofa was unnecessarily large and got in the way; a regular sofa would have been better. The partition between the bath and shower only covered part of the area, so the floor got soaked. At checkout, carrying heavy luggage back upstairs again was exhausting. I won’t be returning, but all of the staff were pleasant.

    I stayed for two nights. Stylish, and everything was spotless—the lobby and the Room! The service was excellent! In the lounge, you can enjoy unlimited sake and wine 24 hours a day! The in-room hinoki bath was large and very relaxing. The amenities were great too! I didn’t know the hair dryer brand, but it was so good I wanted to buy one. I hope you keep adding more sister Hotels! Whenever I visit Kyoto, I will definitely stay here again. It’s about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station, so the location was also great!

    I stayed here for my partner’s birthday. I wanted to surprise them, so I reached out by email, and the staff responded quickly—I was truly touched by their thoughtfulness. On the day, they were also very considerate so my partner wouldn’t notice, and we were able to enjoy the best birthday. The Room and breakfast were both excellent. I think it’s perfect for spending time with someone special. This is the Accommodation I would recommend more than any other!

    It was a truly memorable stay.

    We truly felt the wonderful hospitality and thoughtful care in every aspect, including the Room and services. We stayed here with dinner to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The Room was very clean and spacious, and we were able to spend our entire stay in comfort. The bath was also large, so we could soak slowly and warm up properly, which helped us recover from travel fatigue. All of the staff greeted us with smiles and treated us courteously; their kindness made us feel at ease throughout our stay. At check-in, they also shared recommended nearby spots. At the restaurant, they carefully asked about ingredients we dislike in advance and kindly accommodated our needs. In addition, they even added a birthday message to the plate, and we were truly moved by their attentive thoughtfulness from start to finish. Breakfast was also delicious, allowing us to start the day feeling refreshed. Finally, thank you so much for preparing a handwritten birthday message for my husband as well as a gift. We are very glad we were able to spend such a special day here. When we come to Kyoto again, we would love to visit again.

    Relax in Kyoto

    I’d been curious about Hotel Kanra for a long time, and finally got to stay there. With my birthday coming up, I treated myself by adding both dinner and breakfast. The Hotel felt very modern to me, with the toilet and bath located behind the bed, plus a spacious changing area. The bath was wonderfully relaxing, with a faint pleasant scent that gently warmed my chilled body. From the Room window, I could catch glimpses of Kyoto’s streetscape and enjoy a beautiful sunset, allowing me to unwind in the Room at the end of the day. At dinner, the staff recommended drinks to match each dish, which made for great conversation and a very enjoyable evening. The breakfast buffet was delicious across the board, and I was able to take my time. With some time before check-out, I took a walk around the To-ji area and enjoyed that true “Hotel life” feeling right until the end. It’s a Hotel I’d love to stay at again next time.

    Highly satisfying

    It’s just a short walk from Gojo Station, and you can also get to Gion quickly by taxi. The Room was very clean, and the bath was great. On top of that, you can enjoy unlimited local craft beer and wine in the 1st-floor lounge. I was more than satisfied! The beer and wine were also really delicious. They even had rice crackers—absolutely perfect. I added breakfast, and it was excellent—they even bake pizza right in front of you. We went out to Gion for dinner, but it wasn’t as good as expected; honestly, the teppanyaki inside the Hotel looked much better. Next time, I’d love to keep everything within the Hotel—including the spa! Even though we arrived before 2:00 PM for check-in, they let us into our Room early, and they even offered free late check-out until 12:00 PM, which surprised me. At this point, it feels like far more than what you pay for—I think it’s a much better deal than other hotels. I definitely want to stay here again when I come back to Kyoto. Thank you very much.

    A Hotel in Kyoto Where You Can Enjoy and Relax

    On 2/8, we took a trip to Kyoto with our 3-year-old grandchild despite the severe cold wave. We barely managed to visit Kyoto City Zoo in a snowstorm. When we arrived at the Hotel at 2:00 p.m., they kindly let us check in right away. The Room was a calm Japanese-style room. The bedroom had two 140 cm-wide beds side by side, and the living area had large cushions that made it easy for international guests or anyone with limited mobility to sit comfortably. The bath also featured a large hiba-wood tub, and our 3-year-old’s excitement went through the roof the moment they got in. We stopped by the lounge next to reception and enjoyed beer, juice, a café latte, and rice crackers—just what we needed after the cold and snowy roads. We made a Reservation with dinner and breakfast included, and both meals were outstanding. The teppanyaki course impressed us with every single dish. Ordering the chef’s selection of five types of sake was absolutely the right choice. Even my wife, who normally doesn’t drink at all, said her cassis orange cocktail was incredibly delicious. All staff members were wonderful, and it was clear that the chef is truly top-class. When a staff member asked us, “If you could choose only one dish?”, we couldn’t decide on the spot—but back in our Room we agreed: for me it was the tuna and Kujo green onion sandwich; for my wife it was the shirako teppanyaki. Breakfast was also great—you can choose one of three pizzas—and we enjoyed the buffet as well. We were completely satisfied. We also looked at an introduction sheet in our Room featuring shops near the Hotel, visited one of them, and found some Japanese sweets with flavors we’d never tried before. They’re well-known but probably still not widely discovered—so I’ll leave that as part of your enjoyment when you stay at this Hotel. There are so many things I want to say thank you for. With a small child with us, I worried that any noise when getting on and off the bed might have disturbed others. It truly was a fulfilling stay. I’m sure we will return again.     A very nice Hotel

    The front desk staff were very helpful both on arrival and at check-out, and we appreciated the services such as beer before dinner. The Room was spacious, the cypress bath was wonderful, and above all, the meals were excellent. Not only the food itself, but also the explanations during the meal, as well as the interior design and lighting, were all very good. We would definitely like to visit again. I rated the guest Room 4 stars because the toilet lighting was dim and the sofa in the tatami area was low.

    A hotel for young travelers?

    I used this Hotel to give my wife a spa experience as a gift. She said it was incomparably better than a spa she had experienced at another Hotel before, so we were very satisfied with the spa experience.\nRegarding your signature hinoki bath, I thought it would be nice to have a relaxing pillow in the tub.\nAs for breakfast, I was surprised that more young people than expected were using it. There were many couples and groups of women.\nBecause of that, I felt there were fewer dishes suited to older guests like us.\nAs for the Room, we were satisfied overall, though it would have been nice to have a towel by the sink in the toilet area.\nIf I had to add one thing, I wish the floor chair in the tatami Room were a bit more cushioned.\nIf there is an affordable Plan with a spa included next year, we would definitely like to stay again.

    I stayed here with my daughter and my 1-year-old grandchild. Both the Room and the bathroom were very clean, so I felt at ease even with a little one who puts everything in their mouth. For dinner at the teppanyaki restaurant, they prepared a private room for us, and my daughter was delighted that we could enjoy our meal without worrying about others. Every dish was delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and a pleasure to look at as well. The service from both the restaurant staff and the Accommodation staff was excellent. When I visit Kyoto again, I would love to stay here again!

    Girls’ Trip & Birthday Getaway

    We stayed here for a girls’ trip and a birthday celebration! When we entered the Room, you had prepared an anniversary “cake” made from towels on the bed, which made us so happy. The Room was spacious enough for four people, and the amenities were well stocked—excellent overall. A few disappointing points: the toilet had a sewage smell. Is the amount of tissues in one box standard? The safe was hard to set and didn’t respond well, possibly due to low batteries. The light-up mirror also seemed to have dead batteries, as the light wouldn’t turn on. That said, the lounge was wonderful, and the breakfast buffet was delicious. Both the female and male front desk staff at arrival were classy and pleasant. Thank you very much for your hospitality!

    I stayed here with my mother as we had always wanted to try this accommodation. Our room was on the second floor, and it was quiet and comfortable without any noise from outside or neighboring rooms. The amenities were sufficient and of high quality. We opted for a dinner with teppanyaki dishes, and every single dish was incredibly delicious. The black wagyu beef was outstanding, but the lobster and shirako in American sauce, as well as the dessert crepe suzette, were truly exceptional. The bathtub in our room was large, so it took some time to fill up with water. However, once ready, it provided a spacious and relaxing experience. The breakfast buffet had a wonderful atmosphere with ample space between tables and soft music playing at a pleasant volume. I was very satisfied with the variety offered. Most items seemed freshly prepared rather than pre-made, showcasing great attention to detail. The balance of Japanese and Western options was excellent, making everything taste delightful. Even my daughter—who usually doesn’t eat much—enjoyed plenty of food. In the past, I often stayed at hotels directly connected to train stations; however, all the staff here were so lovely that I would love to stay again. Their professionalism stood out—for instance when clearing plates during breakfast service. For my next stay here, I hope there will be pajamas available instead of yukata (as I'm not comfortable wearing yukata).

    The Hotel had a very...

    The Hotel had a very stylish Kyoto vibe, but the Room was on the second floor with sheer blinds in the living area. I felt uneasy that it might be visible from outside when the lights were on, so I closed the curtains and shoji screens in the bedroom and did not use the living area at night. The Hotel is conveniently located near Kyoto Station.

    I stayed here twice to celebrate my parents' 60th birthdays. I used the suites in both the annex and the main building, and both Rooms were lovely and very comfortable. The Hotel staff were all kind, providing exceptional hospitality for which I am deeply grateful. My parents were also very happy, so I’m truly glad I chose this Hotel. The breakfast was also incredibly delicious. I would love to stay here again!
