    Relax and unwind in the heart of nature.

    This is a wonderful Hotel where you can fully enjoy the great nature of Lake Akan. The woody interior seems to have been recently renovated and is very relaxing. There is complimentary coffee in the lobby, and luggage storage is done by choosing your own code and using a locker. We splurged on a nicer Room, and it had an outstanding view, plenty of space, and even a microwave. Breakfast was excellent—true to Hokkaido—with not only seafood but also delicious pizza and hamburgers, plus smoothies. We also heard we could use the baths at the main Tsuruga Group building, so we went. There is a shuttle bus, but it’s about a 7-minute walk along the lakeside as well. The baths at the main building were incredibly luxurious.

    The meals were delicious.

    The restaurant’s air conditioning was very strong, so it’s a good idea to bring a light jacket. When I made the Reservation, the Plan details mentioned both a cruise and a night walk, so I booked thinking both were included and it would be a good deal. However, the Plan name only stated “cruise included,” and it seems the night walk was not included after all. Buying the cruise tickets separately is much cheaper, so I felt misled. It’s better to purchase tickets separately and avoid choosing a ticket-included Plan, as it is significantly overpriced.

    Thank you for taking care of us for two days. Although it was cloudy and rainy during our stay, we were able to see the magical Lake Akan from our Room, which was very relaxing. Regarding the bath area, you may want to add more notices/instructions for international guests. In the changing room, tissues and paper cups for drinking water were scattered around, and we ended up cleaning them up ourselves. (There was also some disposal of women-only sanitary product bags.) It may also be that the trash bin for paper cups is hard to find. As for the meals, tastes vary, but many dishes were quite salty, so older guests might become a bit concerned about their health. The souvenir shop inside the Hotel was stylish and left a good impression. Thank you very much.

    Relax and unwind at your own pace

    On my first trip to Kushiro, I stayed two nights and spent the second night at Lake Akan. From the entrance to the front desk area looked just like the photos, with lots of wood throughout, and I relaxed on the lobby sofa before heading to my Room. I took a coffee out the back entrance and sat on a bench overlooking Lake Akan—such a great start. The Room was a double Japanese-style Room, more than enough for one person. It may have been renovated; it was a modern, clean tatami Room with a bed, which was great. The bath was a large indoor bath, but I also took the shuttle bus to an affiliated property and enjoyed their rooftop open-air bath—very satisfying! You’ll regret it if you don’t go (lol). Dinner and breakfast were buffet-style, and everything was delicious. You tend to think “Hokkaido = seafood,” but all the other dishes were also carefully prepared and tasted amazing. I planned to have a drink at the bar next to reception afterward, but I was too full and gave up (lol). The next morning, while taking a walk around Lake Akan, I ran into wild deer! After that, I took an early sightseeing cruise over to Marimo Hall. The cloudy sky wasn’t ideal, but the breeze felt great and it was very relaxing. It was just one night/two days, but I fully enjoyed nature and felt refreshed. I’d love to stay again if I get the chance.

    Great location.

    The lakeside view was incredibly mystical and beautiful. I checked in during the evening and took a stroll to the Tsuruga Main Building. Along the way, I stopped by souvenir shops and ended up walking instead of using the shuttle bus, which allowed me to enjoy the illuminated scenery.

    The location is excellent.

    Stayed with a one-night, two-meal plan. **About the Facility** The location is right in front of Lake Akan, offering great views. While it seems to have undergone renovations, there are some areas that feel dated or slightly forced. However, overall it is clean and pleasant. The onsen does not appear to be very spacious. The ferry terminal is nearby. **About Meals** Both dinner and breakfast are buffet-style with a wide variety of options, which was enjoyable. However, even when arriving at the reserved time slot, there was still a considerable wait. **About Amenities** There is an amenity bar on the first floor. Skincare products are not provided. Shampoo and other toiletries are available in the room. The room wear provided is a separate type. **About Service** Service quality varies depending on the staff member; while most were kind and helpful, some were less so. The difference was noticeable but overall positive experiences outweighed negative ones. One middle-aged male staff member at reception seemed easily irritated during busy times; more composed and professional behavior would be appreciated. **Shuttle Service** Since there’s some distance between the accommodation and parking lot, shuttle service is provided but lacks sufficient explanation which caused confusion. **Nearby Facilities** There’s a drugstore right in front where you can purchase drinks or snacks if needed. The accommodation also has its own shop available for guests' convenience. Additionally, the ferry terminal is close by as well!

    Renovated

    Renovated with a front lounge where you can relax with the scent of wood, the Hotel itself is cozy and pleasantly quiet. The baths in the main building offer various tubs for an enjoyable experience, but as it is a large Hotel, it tends to be busy with group and inbound guests, making it less tranquil. The buffet meals have a wide variety of delicious options that might tempt you to overeat. THE FOREST Akan TSURUGA RESORT (formerly Akan no Mori Tsuruga Resort Hanayuka) offers excellent cost performance and comes highly recommended.

    The staff's service ...

    The staff's service was excellent. The foreign staff, in particular, provided hospitality that exceeded expectations, even surpassing that of Japanese staff. At the restaurant, they were especially attentive. Additionally, the staff at the reception and those who welcomed us were also very good. The shuttle service staff to the Onsen in the main building left a friendly impression as well. As for meals, it would have been nice to have sushi or cake included. Overall, everything was delicious. Lastly, I would love to stay here again.

    Accommodation with a Stunning Lobby

    I stayed for a solo trip with a Multiple Night Stay of 2 nights. There is a sightseeing boat dock behind the Hotel, and it also serves as the reception for Kamuy Lumina, making it perfect for sightseeing. The lobby features a beautiful wood-inspired design. It offers picture books, photo collections, novels related to Hokkaido, and complimentary coffee and tea services. It's such an inviting space that you'll want to stay there forever. Breakfast is highly recommended! The variety is abundant, and the bread was especially delicious. The bath facilities include only indoor baths at this location; however, there’s a shuttle bus to the main building every 30 minutes where you can enjoy various types of baths—it’s incredibly fun! The available baths differ on odd and even days, so be sure to book a Multiple Night Stay to experience both options fully! Both are truly enjoyable experiences. This was a Hotel I’d love to visit again in another season. (As for the Room itself—it had more of an old-fashioned Ryokan vibe without any particular charm [laughs].)

    The hotel has undergone significant changes and is now almost entirely different from what it used to be as "Hanayuka."

    All the dishes were carefully prepared, of high quality, and delicious, which is why I stayed at this accommodation for two consecutive years. This year, in the third year, the hotel's name had changed, so I was curious and decided to stay again. As the new name suggests, the lobby and restaurant were renovated with a forest theme. Additionally, the room was also renovated and became very clean and inviting. Unlike previous stays, there was a warm wooden atmosphere that made my stay very comfortable. The meals seemed even more delicious than before. The staff's service was excellent as well, making my stay truly pleasant. This is a hotel I would love to revisit!

    Thank you for your warm hospitality despite our circumstances the other day. It was our first visit, and we were truly impressed by the atmosphere and the wonderful baths. We regret that our stay was so short, but we look forward to visiting again in the future.

    Enjoyed the nature.

    This is my first visit in two years. The standard double room is new, spacious, clean, and comfortable. The view from the large window is breathtaking. Time passes by just sitting on the sofa by the window and gazing at the scenery. During this season, it gets quite chilly by the window, so I thought it would be nice to have a blanket in the room. Since there are nature trails nearby, it's perfect for those who love nature and onsen; you can take a morning walk through forest paths looking for wild birds and squirrels or warm up your body in an onsen with natural hot spring water after getting cold outside. This time I reserved a breakfast-included plan for the first time, but I found that the meal was not very distinctive and seemed to have fewer items than expected. Also, I found it difficult to use the fork provided. Depending on the day, seating could be quite close to other guests at shared tables; I'd prefer a bit more distance there. However, both the bread gratin and smoothie were delicious.

    The front desk staff...

    The front desk staff were kind, and the check-in and check-out processes went smoothly, which was great. The variety of food was impressive, and everyone was surprised. The room was clean, and we had a great trip.
