    Satisfied

This was my second stay this year, following last year. The Room is spacious and clean, and while it isn’t cheap, it doesn’t feel overpriced. Since Hotels in Furano are unusually expensive, I searched in Asahikawa and found this Hotel. Many of the staff were not Japanese, but everyone was very kind, which I truly appreciated. I plan to stay again next year. Thank you very much.

    Highland Hotel Resort

I stayed for three nights to climb Mt. Taisetsu. The property seems to be modeled after a European resort. The spacious Room was comfortable. On the other hand, the Onsen lacked distinctive features and there was no open-air bath. Instead, I found it more relaxing to use the in-room bathroom. The buffet-style breakfast and dinner were disappointing; aside from the main pork steak (Day 1) and beef steak (Day 3), there was little of interest. The selection of alcohol and wine was also limited.

    Right next to Mount Asahidake

As the Hotel is located within a national park, the location is excellent. We were able to fully enjoy the Asahidake Ropeway first thing in the morning. The Room was also clean. The meals are good as well.

    Snow Monsters and Workations.

I stayed for 5 nights and 6 days in January in a single, maisonette-style Room. My goals were simple: to try a workation for 2 of the 6 days and to see the ice-covered trees from the Asahidake Ropeway. During my stay, the Asahidake Ropeway was suspended due to strong winds for about half of the schedule, but because I stayed longer, I was still able to enjoy it 충분. I also joined a snowshoe tour hosted by the visitor center next door, which was even more fun than expected. As for the workation, I could focus well at the desk in my Room, and the mini-kitchen was very convenient for making tea and coffee that I brought with me. I chose buffet meals for both breakfast and dinner. There was a great variety so I never got bored, and I was happy that the main dish at dinner changed every day. I also really enjoyed making an affogato by combining soft-serve ice cream with espresso. In the mornings, I got hooked on topping Yumepirika rice with natto, raw egg, and simmered raw nori paste. Everything was delicious—thank you. With so much snow that it even covered the bus stop sign, it was a very fulfilling stay where I could fully appreciate the beauty of snowy mountains looking up from the base station even when I couldn’t ride the ropeway. I’d love to visit again.

The food at the Hotel was delicious.

Dinner was a buffet, and the tempura was crispy and the best I've ever had at any Hotel. Everything was so delicious that you need to be careful not to overeat. The Onsen was also excellent. However, I almost cried when I stubbed my little toe on the wooden bath frame. The shower pressure was very strong and comfortable. (Although it wasn’t crowded, someone sat directly behind me, and as I thought, the beam-like shower spray reached me.) Are bears in this area something to worry about? Wishing for your continued safe operations!

    The library and bath...

The library and bath are excellent, and the room is spacious and comfortable even for single use. There are many foreign staff members, but their hospitality improves with each stay, which is impressive.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay after a long time.

The room was spacious and convenient. Since it was an Onsen, I used the large public bath, but the room's bathroom was also spacious with a large bathtub, which I wanted to try. The meals were buffet-style and had a good variety. However, the dessert selection of fruits was limited to only pineapple and lychee, which felt insufficient. The bath area was also spacious and relaxing, with separate tubs for low and high temperatures, showing thoughtful consideration. The only issue was condensation or possible rain/snow leakage around the window frames in the room, which caused some paint peeling in several spots. Improvement in this area would be appreciated.

    The Best Accommodation

This accommodation is worth visiting just to stay here. The room design and spaciousness, the comfort of the maisonette, the incredibly cozy beds, the onsen—there's no end to the list of highlights. The hospitality is excellent, with dedicated staff from abroad who are well-trained and attentive. It was truly the kind of hotel I always wanted to stay at. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

    It was excellent.

We stayed for one night as a family of three during the summer vacation. The newly renovated room was spacious, clean, and perfect for relaxing. However, we had trouble finding a socket for the kettle and ended up using it in the bathroom. The Onsen featured two baths with temperatures of 40°C and 42°C, which both our son and we enjoyed since we prefer lukewarm water. Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style, made mostly with local ingredients from Hokkaido, and they were absolutely delicious. If anything could be improved, it would be to serve the main dishes more in line with guests' pace. A male staff member at the front desk was very kind and helpful—thank you! We were extremely satisfied. We’d love to stay again!

The Hotel is located right at the foot of Mount Asahidake.

This was a trip to Kamui Mintara and Asahidake, a place I had always wanted to visit. Including a weather buffer day, I stayed for two nights. The Hotel is conveniently located right next to the Visitor Center and just a 5-minute walk from the ropeway base station. The location was especially appreciated after descending from the mountain. The spacious twin room offered ample closet storage, separate bath and toilet facilities, and a towel warmer that added extra comfort. The Onsen water was pleasantly warm without being too hot, with a gentle texture on the skin. Meals were served buffet-style for both breakfast and dinner. While I'm not usually fond of buffets, I enjoyed seeing an array of dishes featuring local ingredients and regional specialties such as seasonal asparagus, Jingisukan (grilled lamb), and simmered Rawan butterbur in broth. There were also decent options for alcoholic beverages like glass wine, along with an enjoyable selection of desserts. For main meat dishes, pork was served on the first night and beef on the second; the pork in particular was tender and juicy. I appreciated that the front desk displayed summit temperatures daily and provided eco-bags for guests' use. One minor disappointment was having to wait about 30 minutes past 2:00 PM before being able to check in as scheduled. Thank you for your hospitality!

    Helpful advice from our staff

The Room was very clean and spacious. The buffet had a wide variety of dishes, all delicious, and my wife especially enjoyed the desserts. Above all, upon our arrival, the staff kindly advised us about the mountain weather, saying, "Today's mountain weather is wonderful. Tomorrow should be fine as well, but please keep in mind that mountain weather can change." We ended up climbing Mount Asahidake twice and were treated to breathtaking views. Thank you very much!

The dinner on the second night differed from the description.

I booked a Multiple Night Stay with the Tokachi Beef Dinner Plan, but on the second night, Tokachi beef was not served. The price for both nights was the same, which seems unreasonable. The accommodation explained that their policy is to serve something different on the second night. Even after showing them my printout from IKYU.com at the time of reservation, they apologized for insufficient information in their listing. Despite spending time discussing this issue, no mention of a refund for the price difference was made; instead, they only offered complimentary drinks as compensation. Please be cautious if booking a Multiple Night Stay with this plan.

    Sanctuary

Everything was perfect. First, the front desk service was excellent. Clear and thorough explanations provided a great sense of reassurance. The Room, a maisonette, had impeccable design and atmosphere—truly sublime. It felt like being in a mindful state without any effort. The large public bath was spacious and amazing. The restaurant staff were very kind, the food was delicious, and drinks arrived promptly—absolutely fantastic. This place is a sanctuary. I will definitely return again. Thank you very much!

    Off-Season Asahidake Onsen

This is my second stay at Bearmonte. I stayed right after the renovation in the summer of 2023 and this time on May 5th. The room's spaciousness and the excellent meals were as impressive as before, but the buffet felt even more enhanced this time. One disappointing point was the outdoor bath; it was under construction during my previous visit, so I expected it to be open this time. However, the rock bath turned out to be a cold water bath for the sauna. It was freezing cold, especially with snow still around, so even after sweating in the sauna, I couldn't feel like a monk undergoing training (laughs). An outdoor bath would definitely be nice to have! The water for cooling off could perhaps come from a shower or something similar since there is already a cold water bath near the indoor baths. Unfortunately, I couldn't see Mount Asahidake this time, but I took a gondola ride to explore its summit area instead. It was peaceful with few people around—very relaxing! A comfortable hotel experience overall; summer or autumn seems like an ideal season here. I'll definitely come back again!

The room is spacious and stylish.

The guest rooms have been renovated, offering a spacious and stylish interior. There was an issue with the bath pump, and I received a call from Mr./Ms. ○○ at the front desk on the morning of my stay. Since that day was my only available date, I stayed regardless. The in-person response from the staff was attentive and excellent. I used the large public bath at the neighboring hotel instead, and they kindly provided shuttle service whenever needed, which I greatly appreciated. The next morning, I was able to use this hotel's onsen. Being able to enjoy onsens at two different hotels turned out to be quite fun! Initially, it seemed like it might be inconvenient, but thanks to their great service, I left satisfied. However, this hotel's onsen did not have an open-air bath (rotenburo), which was disappointing. While there was an outdoor sauna available, there wasn’t any water in the outdoor cold plunge pool; thus, I only used the indoor sauna. As for meals—while many reviews praised them as delicious—they didn’t suit my taste very well. The steak’s flavor felt lacking... Additionally, when ordering beer during dinner service, it took quite some time to arrive. With only two staff members handling service that evening though—it seemed understandable under those circumstances. Lastly—the manager appeared briefly at reception upon checkout but did not address anything regarding earlier issues with facilities like broken baths; this surprised me slightly since other front-desk personnel repeatedly apologized profusely throughout interactions beforehand. That said—I understand technical malfunctions happen sometimes!

The room and Onsen were wonderful.

Enjoyed staying at the accommodation surrounded by snow. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a lovely library and beautiful views from the window, allowing for a relaxing time. The onsen and sauna were not crowded, which made for a satisfying experience. However, the variety, quality, and taste of the meals were very disappointing both in the morning and evening.

    Quality Improvement

We appreciate your hospitality every year. This year, the seasoning of the meals has improved significantly, and we were very satisfied. Since it is a buffet, it might be challenging, but how about adding pasta in addition to pizza? With sauces served separately, it could prevent guests from getting tired of the menu during a Multiple Night Stay. Despite the continuous snowfall, we are grateful for your snow removal efforts. We look forward to visiting again next season.

    Enjoyed the great outdoors.

This was my second visit. This time, we were blessed with good weather, allowing us to take the ropeway and stroll around the foot of Mt. Asahi, and we could also enjoy the view of Mt. Asahi from our room. We stayed for a week this time, and after getting tired from playing outside, we could relax in the Onsen or take it easy in our room or the library corner when we wanted to rest, truly enjoying our stay. However, with a Multiple Night Stay, the meals tend to become repetitive, and I wished at least the main dish would change daily. It was a bit disappointing that, perhaps due to the high season with many guests from overseas, almost all the glass wine was sold out, and I couldn't drink what I wanted. Sometimes, when it's noisy around, it's hard to enjoy a meal peacefully, so I hope they would consider offering in-room dining (such as a bento plan).

I would like to come again someday.

Two nights on a midwinter weekend. The drive through the snow from the airport, about 50 minutes away, was not confusing but still tense as it turned into a mountain road. I was startled by the temperature of minus 8 degrees, but it was said to be more than 10 degrees higher than the average temperature for this time of year. Cars are parked in front of the hotel entrance. Due to the season and the time of year, the hotel was dominated by Western ski guests. They were all serious skiers enjoying the backcountry of Asahidake, with overwhelmingly more adults than families with children. It's not a very large hotel, so the atmosphere is influenced by the clientele, but we were comfortable. The insulation and cold protection of the maisonette room were perfect. It was so warm that we had to turn off the air conditioning. There is a space next to the front desk to dry skis, and there is a place to stand skis at the entrance of the room, which is convenient. The large public bath was under repair, so only one bathtub was available, but the available bath was spacious, the water quality was soft, and the water temperature was low, allowing for a relaxing time. There are even three saunas! Meals were buffet-style in the same venue for both breakfast and dinner. The atmosphere was very nice, with snow piled up visible from the venue's windows, and the main pork dish, individually cooked and brought later, was delicious. There were many local ingredients, which was a delight for travelers. And each ingredient was delicious. As expected of Hokkaido. The buffet and main dishes were different on the second night, showing consideration for multiple night stay guests. Most of the restaurant staff were foreigners, but most of the guests were foreigners too. Although some had difficulty understanding Japanese, they were well-trained, and they were generally very cheerful and polite. Since it's a small hotel, you can see the staff's faces well. The library on the second floor is quite spacious, with a wide selection of books, allowing for a genuine leisurely time. The book selection was intriguing. The hotel was clean, the rooms were spacious, the staff attentive, the food delicious, the outside a silver-white spectacle, and the bath was good. What more could you ask for? I liked it. I want to visit again in a different season, and hopefully, come back in winter.

    One-night stay for year-end homecoming

I stayed at this Hotel for one night during my year-end visit home. The guest room was quite warm and comfortable. It seemed that many guests were tourists from Asian countries, but I did notice some differences in bathing and dining manners, which were a bit concerning. The dinner and breakfast were very delicious and full of appealing options. However, I was quite disappointed that the main dish (with an additional charge) was served as soon as I was seated. It's a shame because the taste was excellent, but this ruined the experience. I think this Property is recommended for those staying mainly for winter sports.

    The best

Since the number of guests was small, they should have served individually instead of a buffet. However, because we made the reservation for a buffet, they provided it just for us, and we were supposed to have breakfast at this buffet venue. Feeling sorry for them, we told them we didn't need breakfast, and they brought rice balls, miso, rolled omelet, and various other items to the room. I've been to many hotels, but what a considerate hotel! The staff was simply wonderful, and we returned home satisfied. Thank you very much!

The bright and spacious area was nice.

I stayed in a Superior Twin Room, and it was very spacious, offering value beyond the Accommodation Fee. The restaurant and corridors were also spacious, bright, and pleasant. Although there was no private open-air bath in the room, the bathroom was about twice the normal size, and the bathtub was large, providing a pleasant experience.

    Communication was difficult.

Communication was difficult from check-in, and it was a struggle. The front desk space was also too cramped. The room furnishings were adequate. The bath was nice, but I would have liked more amenities on the washbasin. The meal content was good, but the seating was not; it was like a corridor table, sandwiched between a window-side table and the aisle. Both staff and guests frequently passed by behind us... Since we stayed for consecutive nights, on the second day, I asked them to do something about it, and the result was a semi-private room partitioned by a large curtain. This was also somewhat awkward. Overall, it is an accommodation that can be satisfying, but the initial impression at the front desk was too negative.

The sound of classical music resonating in the sauna

Based on my impression of the stay, I think the review rating should be higher, so I'm posting this. Although I was disappointed that there was no open-air bath, there were two dry saunas and a mist sauna, and two bathtubs with temperatures of 40 and 42 degrees, and above all, the hot spring was smooth and wonderful! What impressed me was the newly installed dry sauna! Classical music flows down from the ceiling at a solid volume, and perhaps because the sauna is surrounded by solid wood, the piano, strings, and flute sound beautiful! Together with the outdoor cold bath, I felt like I was staying in a national park! The shampoo and treatment in the shower booth are not the typical ones found in hot spring areas, but Kose's Predia. It was unexpectedly good being silicone-free! The room was also a comfortable and high-quality space matching Asahikawa furniture, and beautifully designed items were chosen for the kettle and trash can. Meals were buffet-style for both breakfast and dinner, and although the menu felt somewhat lacking, I was satisfied. The problem was the main plate. Even though I paid extra for Tokachi beef, it was completely different from the picture. The side dish was only half a small potato. The timing of serving was also not good. They bring it when you return from getting your food and are about to start eating. I wonder if they want you to start with the main dish. Overall, including the serving, it seemed like there weren't enough staff. The front desk and café were always unattended, as if they were closed. If you understand these points and stay, the hot springs and rooms are excellent, so I think it will be a comfortable stay.
