Akita Oyu Hot Spring - Hotel Kazuno

I stayed here using the Akita Accommodation Campaign. The Onsen was excellent and warmed me up thoroughly. The sweets provided in the room were very tasty, so I bought some as souvenirs. The staff were also very helpful, and I would like to stay here again.

I stayed over New Year's. As mentioned in other reviews, the New Year's Eve soba, freshly made mochi on New Year's Day, and the free programs on January 1st and 2nd were fantastic. The meals were excellent, especially the delicious kinki fish and squid, as well as the impressive work with various broths and knife skills. The staff's hospitality was impeccable, attentive to every detail, making for a very comfortable stay. The snowy scenery everywhere was beautiful; in the open-air bath, I enjoyed watching snowflakes fall while glimpsing a nearly full moon through the leaves—such luxury! Additionally, some members of our group who went for a walk reported seeing swans in front of Oyu River near the hotel. We all went to see them together! While it might not be unusual for those living in northern regions, it was my first time seeing wild swans and I got so excited! Although only two are visible in photos we took, there were more of them. You can also appreciate how clear Oyu River is.As others have mentioned before me as well, I felt that having towels other than bath towels available in the room would be nice. Also, some lively sounds from neighboring rooms could be heard.Across from the hotel is Michi-no-Eki Ooyu (roadside station), which offers a variety of souvenirs and has a café where you can enjoy yourself like taking a stroll (it operated with shorter hours on New Year’s Day). This is truly an amazing accommodation where you can experience different charms each season!
