    This is my favorite accommodation.

    This Accommodation offers a relaxing stay while you leisurely take in views of Lake Shikotsu. The view of Lake Shikotsu from your Room is exceptional, letting you feel the movement of the water and the changing seasons. The Onsen has outstanding moisturizing and heat-retaining qualities. Every Italian dish is delicious, and we look forward to visiting again in a different season.

    Your First Visit to Lake Shikotsu

    I love Hokkaido and have visited many times since I was young, but this was my first time stopping by Lake Shikotsu. This stay was on the last day of a 3-night, 4-day trip. Since the first and second nights were at wonderful Accommodation, my expectations for the third night were high—so “average” is the most fitting description. The food was tasty overall, but there were too many similar items in a row (sorbet, ice cream, pasta), and the meat was tough, which was disappointing. The service and the Room were also truly average. If your only goal is to spend time quietly, it may be fine; however, as someone who wants to enjoy the special feeling of travel away from everyday life, I would not stay again.

    We thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful baths and delicious meals by the lakeside.

    • Room & Amenities We stayed in a Japanese-Western style Room. There were four of us, but it didn’t feel cramped and we were able to relax comfortably. The lake is right outside the window, so the view is excellent. However, the sliding door (fusuma) separating the Japanese-style and Western-style areas would not close all the way, which made me wonder if the building may be slightly warped. • Staff & Service Because there are only a small number of Rooms, it felt like there were only a few staff members as well. The female staff member provided pleasant service. What really surprised me was that when I asked a male staff member to take a photo at breakfast, he silently gestured by looking at his wristwatch—as if to say he was too busy and wanted me to stop. However, aside from us there were only two other groups at breakfast. I’ve had better responses from strangers when asking for photos at tourist spots. It was my first time experiencing this kind of reaction, so it left a strong impression. Naturally, I didn’t feel comfortable asking for photos again at checkout. Another male staff member also seemed low-energy and not very friendly. • Onsen & Bath The bath in the Room was nice, but the private bath was especially wonderful. The weather was very bad that day—cloudy and dark over the lake—but it actually felt quite atmospheric because of that. The water had a pleasantly silky feel, and the temperature was not too hot—just right. • Facility & Equipment I didn’t realize it would be this close to the lake, so I was impressed by the amazing location. Because of the bad weather we couldn’t use the terrace, so I rated this 4 out of 5. • Meals This was just as outstanding as the baths/Onsen experience. Dinner in particular was excellent—we enjoyed authentic Italian cuisine that we don’t usually eat and were truly impressed by how delicious it was. It seems refills of bread are not available; for men it may feel like slightly smaller portions, but for us it was just right. • Overall Satisfaction The poor weather and some aspects of service were disappointing, but otherwise our overall satisfaction was high.

    A Hotel with a sense of history.

    The building is showing its age, but it is carefully cleaned, and the furniture and furnishings are well maintained. The ikebana arrangements are beautifully displayed and are said to be rearranged each time by the staff. The chef is from Nemuro and sources fresh seafood from there. The vegetables and meat are locally sourced from within Hokkaido. Every time, both the presentation and the flavor are excellent, and we enjoy our meal with genuine admiration. We plan to visit again next year to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

    This is a wonderful accommodation.

    I have visited Lake Shikotsu many times, but this was my first time staying overnight. All the staff were wonderful, and I was very satisfied with the Onsen, meals, Room, and views at this Accommodation. My family and I agreed that we should have stayed here sooner. I would definitely like to visit again next year.

    A Prime Seat at Lake Shikotsu

    It truly felt like a front-row seat. The private lakeside terrace was also incredibly relaxing. We enjoyed some sparkling wine, which really lifted our spirits.

    This was my first vi...

    This was my first visit in six years. The wonderful hot spring water and delicious meals were incredibly relaxing. The Room shows its age, but it was clean and comfortable. I would be happy if the TV were a bit newer so I could watch movies and the like. I usually stay at Accommodation with private open-air baths in the guest rooms, so I wasn’t sure how it would feel with only an indoor bath, but it was great—I could easily soak again and again. The silky-smooth water was amazing. As for the meals, I remembered them being good six years ago, but they were even better than I imagined. The Italian dishes made with local ingredients were all delicious and truly impressive. The olive oil was also excellent. The male staff member who assisted us during the meal provided clear explanations and thoughtful check-ins, which made the experience very pleasant, and I was able to enjoy my meal feeling genuinely happy. It rained during our stay, so next time I’d like to visit on a sunny day.

    Beyond expectations

    I made this Reservation as a gift for my parents. Before their stay, I emailed to request that any charges incurred other than the Accommodation Reservation be billed to me, the Reserver, so that there would be no payment required at checkout. In response, you sent me a PayPay QR code card and billed me for drinks and other expenses on the day. Thanks to this, my parents were able to check out without having to settle any charges. At other Accommodations, even after informing them in advance, I later found out that they still charged my parents at checkout for drinks and the Hot Spring Tax. This Hotel is truly wonderful and considerate of the Reserver’s wishes. Of course, my parents were also delighted and said both the meals and the Onsen were excellent. Thank you very much.

    I changed my plans f...

    I changed my plans from March and visited in June instead. On the terrace overlooking Lake Shikotsu, I enjoyed champagne and had a lovely conversation with another couple we met, making it a very enjoyable stay. Dinner was delicious—hime trout and asparagus were especially memorable—and I left completely satisfied. They also celebrated my birthday, and even though I was already full, the dessert plate was wonderful and made me very happy. The bath in the Room wasn’t an open-air bath, but it warmed me up so well that I used it many times. For my morning bath, I made a Reservation for the open-air bath, and my skin felt silky smooth afterward. This time there was a water dispenser available, which was convenient because I didn’t need to bring water from the Room to stay hydrated. I felt that both the small improvements over time and the consistent thoughtfulness of all the staff are exactly what makes this Accommodation one you want to return to.

    It was my first time staying at Lake Shikotsu.

    It was truly a wonderful Accommodation on the shores of Lake Shikotsu. The meals were Italian cuisine making full use of Hokkaido ingredients. There is also a private lakeside area, which everyone loved. We also enjoyed the sightseeing boat (the water is so clear you can enjoy views below the surface; I’ve attached a photo of an Ezo Ugui) and the swan boats. IKYU is always reliable.

    It was a pleasant stay.

    I had actually made a Reservation for Room 111 “Usuyuki” around the same time last year, but two weeks before our trip my husband suddenly became unwell and we had no choice but to Cancel the Reservation. So this stay was our long-awaited return after a year. When the staff member showed us to Room 111 and we stepped inside, I was overwhelmed by the breathtaking view of the lake spreading out before us—I got so excited that I blurted out, “Yes—this is it!” You may not find many Accommodations in Japan with such a beautiful view from the Room. As for the meals, both breakfast and dinner were excellent. The Italian dinner had many dishes and tasted wonderful, though I would have liked slightly larger portions (especially the pasta). The Japanese breakfast was great in both quality and quantity. The Onsen water was also fantastic—very gentle on the skin and left it smooth. In particular, the bath by our Room faced directly onto the lake, so I ended up soaking again and again. One disappointment was the loungewear provided to wear inside the Accommodation: even in size S, the pants were quite long. Even when folded up, they slipped down easily because of how smooth and slippery the fabric was, so I couldn’t really wear them. That said, everyone at this Accommodation was kind and attentive, making it a truly wonderful stay that made me want to come back again. I’m so happy we finally made it this time!

    I’d love to visit again and again.

    You can enjoy views of Lake Shikotsu from the window. I stayed here for the second time because I couldn’t forget the food. They treated us to seasonal green and white asparagus. All of the staff were truly pleasant and welcoming. The Onsen water is silky-smooth and excellent. As an IKYU Diamond member, I received complimentary cheese at dinner and a 12:00 checkout, which was also a nice bonus. I’d love to stay again.

    A Hotel with Beautiful Lake Views

    The lake view from the Room was beautiful, and I was able to relax. However, it was a bit inconvenient that there is no large public bath. This time I traveled with my parents, and since three adults had to take turns using the bath, we ended up having some waiting time, which made it slightly difficult to use. The view from the bath itself was very beautiful, but I also noticed that the bathtub felt a little shallow. I was also a bit surprised that dinner was a Western-style course. In this setting, Japanese cuisine might suit the atmosphere better (lol). Breakfast was very delicious. I would like to stay again if I have the chance, and I would be happy if dinner options become available in the future.

    The building and the Room had a charming atmosphere, and the size was just right. It was also great to be able to view Lake Shikotsu from the in-room bath. Dinner felt like Japanese-style Italian cuisine; everything was delicious, and above all, all the staff were very kind. It was an Accommodation that made me want to stay again.

    A Hidden Lakeside Accommodation

    The contrast of the mountains and lake—such as Lake Shikotsu and Mt. Eniwa—seen from the Room is outstanding. The Onsen water is silky-smooth as well. Dinner is in a class of its own, far beyond typical Ryokan cuisine. We enjoyed an authentic Italian full-course meal, making this a truly satisfying trip.

    Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and satisfying. The view from the room was amazing, and I was moved by the star-filled sky at night. When I consulted with the staff about snowy roads, they responded kindly, which gave me peace of mind. I would love to visit in summer next time. Highly recommended accommodation!

    It was a wonderful time.

    This was my first time staying here. With only a few rooms, it was very quiet. The room was clean, and the view of Lake Shikotsu right in front of us was stunning. The Onsen in the room became even more open and relaxing when we opened the window, making it hard to leave. The private open-air bath also allowed for a peaceful and leisurely soak in a serene environment. The Onsen water was silky smooth, with just the right temperature. The Italian dinner was absolutely delicious as well. I have visited Lake Shikotsu many times, but this place feels like a hidden gem where I could truly enjoy a slow-paced time. I would love to visit again!

    A Hotel Worth Revisiting

    The building feels somewhat temporary, possibly due to land constraints, and you may notice footsteps or sounds from neighboring rooms. However, the Onsen and meals more than make up for it. The restaurant staff were very knowledgeable and provided prompt and courteous answers to our questions about ingredients and wine.

    Stunning Views, Exquisite Italian Cuisine, and Relaxing Onsen

    It’s easy to see why there are so many repeat guests. While I expected the seafood from Hokkaido to be delicious, the shellfish served in the Italian dishes completely changed my previous aversion to them. Additionally, the accommodation's handling of allergy-friendly meals was flawless and truly impressive. In my past experiences, even at accommodations known for their excellent cuisine, allergy-friendly dishes often lacked harmony in flavors or fell short of their original taste, leaving me disappointed. However, during this 3-night stay, not once did I feel that way; every meal was thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you very much! Even down to the final dessert—every detail was perfect—and I was amazed by how delicious the sorbet was. The staff were all incredibly kind and made me feel warm and welcomed. If there is one area for improvement, it would be great if the loungewear provided could be made from cotton or linen materials. I look forward to visiting again!

    For the price...

    The room was clean but felt a bit small and old. There was a sofa in the corner of the room that could barely fit two people, but one person had to sit on the bed or in the massage chair, so it wasn’t very relaxing. The view from the room and the Onsen in the private bath were absolutely excellent. The fresh flowers in the lobby and hallways were wonderful.

    Wonderful Accommodation

    The quality of the Onsen in the room was incredibly smooth, and I could stay in it for hours. The Italian dinner, made with local ingredients, was absolutely delicious, and the staff provided detailed explanations, making it a wonderful experience. The souvenir shop offered unique items like beautiful brooches and Ainu charms, which were truly impressive. At night, you can gaze at a sky full of stars, and in the morning enjoy a lakeside walk where you might encounter wild birds or squirrels. I look forward to visiting again for another relaxing stay.

    Relax and unwind at your own pace.

    I stayed here last year and had such a great experience that I chose it again for the final night of this year's trip to Hokkaido. It was a relaxing stay that lived up to my expectations. The delicious meals, excellent location, soothing onsen, and attentive service all made for a truly comfortable experience.     Excellent dining, relaxing baths, and prime location

    From the room, you can enjoy a picturesque view of Lake Shikotsu through large windows. The private bath in the room features Onsen water with a smooth, lotion-like texture. Since the water is lukewarm, you can relax and soak for a long time while enjoying the fresh air with the window open. This alone was delightful, but the meals were absolutely exceptional. Seasonal ingredients from Hokkaido were served in their best condition, making for an incredibly enjoyable dining experience—I even wanted seconds! Breakfast offered classic dishes, but each one was so delicious that I ended up eating too much. The Hotel also has a walking path around the lake where you can take a refreshing morning stroll in crisp air. I would love to visit again!

    The dinner was excellent.

    My mother loves Suimeikaku and used to stay there every year for her birthday. However, she hasn't been feeling well since the end of last year and fell ill this year, so I made a sudden reservation to take her there. The quality of the onsen was excellent, and the meals were truly delicious! Thank you for your thoughtful attention to my mother on her birthday. There are several high-class accommodations around Lake Shikotsu Onsen, and I've stayed at all of them, but Suimeikaku stands out in terms of service, cuisine, and onsen quality—it’s incomparable. I believe this is the best accommodation out there. If you're unsure where to stay, I highly recommend trying it at least once!

    It was a high-quality accommodation.

    Stylish facilities and atmosphere combined with the warm hospitality of the front desk staff made for a very pleasant stay. The lobby was smaller than expected, but features like lakeside drink service added enjoyable touches outside the guest rooms. Dinner was exquisite, both in taste and presentation, with dishes crafted to perfection. The sea urchin pasta was exceptional. The restaurant staff provided impeccable service, making it a truly memorable dining experience. Breakfast was delicious but slightly disappointing as it was Japanese-style when we were expecting Western due to the previous night's ambiance. It would be great if guests could choose between Japanese or Western options. The bathtub in the room is located in the center, which might feel lacking for those who prefer open-air baths. While there is a private open-air bath available, its strong chlorine smell detracted from an otherwise lovely atmosphere—this was unfortunate given how nice everything else felt. Please note that following car navigation may lead you to an entirely different location; travelers should take care when driving here!
