It was a truly wonderful accommodation.
Even though the building is 300 years old, it has been carefully maintained down to every detail, and we had a very comfortable stay. Above all, the staff were truly wonderful. We would love to visit Kurashiki again, and Yoshii Ryokan will be our only choice. Thank you very much!

Everything was handl...
Everything was handled with impeccable hospitality. We truly appreciated your flexibility in accommodating our meal and bath times. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. As it was the season of Tango no Sekku in May, we were impressed by the helmets and related decorations displayed throughout the property.

A charming Ryokan in the historic Bikan District
It was a wonderful, atmospheric Ryokan. Located in the Bikan Historical Quarter, it was very convenient for sightseeing. We were shown to a first-floor Room with a lovely garden. Since the building is old, it may be unavoidable, but we could hear footsteps in the hallway and noises from the Room upstairs throughout the night, which made it hard to sleep and left us feeling unsettled. The cuisine was refined and excellent. It was a charming Ryokan with great character.

Washbasin
I was very satisfied with the atmosphere and the service. Since I have lower back pain, I found the low sink difficult to use.

Enjoy Your Kurashiki Sightseeing to the Fullest!
It was our first trip with four childhood friends, so we chose a destination and a Ryokan where we could enjoy chatting and do some sightseeing. The accommodation was located in the Bikan Historical Quarter, very close to Achi Shrine, known for its sixtieth birthday purification rituals, making it an excellent location. Although the Ryokan has a long history, it didn’t feel old. We were provided with a spacious room with great ambiance where we could relax comfortably (though the lighting was slightly dim). There were two baths available by time reservation instead of Onsen. Since there were only two groups of guests staying, we managed to use them before dinner without any issues. As Onsen wasn’t our main purpose, this worked perfectly fine for us. Both dinner and breakfast were Japanese-style meals; dinner especially featured elaborate dishes that were incredibly delicious with beautiful tableware enhancing the experience. The staff seemed minimal in number which caused slight waiting times occasionally but they welcomed us warmly so it didn’t bother us at all. They also kindly stored our luggage which allowed us to fully enjoy sightseeing without worry. We had an amazing time both exploring Kurashiki and staying at the Ryokan!

The location and building are perfect.
Stayed on the first day of a long weekend. A historical and charming Japanese house located in the heart of the Bikan Historical Quarter. The location and building are perfect, making it easy to explore and enjoy sightseeing comfortably. Stayed in "Tsutsuji," described as "the best room in this accommodation." The room was spacious, with a pleasant garden view and a comfortable private bath. We chose sukiyaki from the "Seasonal Special Hot Pot Plan." A staff member brought a portable stove and pot to our room, followed by plates of vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, beef slices on another plate, sauce in a pot, and utensils placed on the table. Then came an unexpected moment: "Please feel free to prepare it yourself," said the staff with a smile before leaving us alone. My partner and I exchanged puzzled looks—apparently here, hot pots are meant for guests to cook themselves. Never did we imagine paying such an amount only to end up cooking our own sukiyaki at an accommodation during our holiday trip. While self-cooking might be common at casual or budget-friendly restaurants offering all-you-can-eat options for sukiyaki, proper establishments typically have staff prepare everything so that guests can simply enjoy eating without effort. Had we known dinner required self-preparation, we would not have chosen this menu—or even this accommodation at such pricing—in the first place. It left us questioning why we selected this place altogether. If other hot pot menus also require guests to cook themselves under this plan's concept, discontinuing it immediately would be advisable. Additionally disappointing was dining in poorly ventilated private rooms that left our yukata smelling unpleasantly afterward; assuming replacements wouldn't be provided anyway discouraged us from asking—so we gave up entirely. While trying new approaches may hold value sometimes when quality cannot yet meet expectations consistently enough—it’s better avoided until readiness ensures reliable service delivery instead! Ultimately felt like enduring mild punishment during what should’ve been enjoyable Kurashiki nights instead... That said—the town itself remains beautiful alongside its scenery; visiting Kurashiki again someday still appeals!

First Trip to Kurashiki
I wanted to stay in the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, so I chose to stay here. It is truly located within the Bikan area, and the early morning walk was absolutely wonderful. Yoshii Ryokan is a building from the Edo period, and its charm remains in various places, creating a stylish atmosphere with a blend of modern elements. The cleanliness is also impeccable. The cuisine, featuring a variety of dishes with pike conger, was all delicious, and although there is only one bath, I was able to relax with a one-hour private bath. If I ever visit Kurashiki again, I would love to stay here once more. Thank you very much.

A fusion of the good old days and modern times
It was a lovely inn that beautifully preserved the old building while also being nicely remodeled. The staff were kind, and I received a thank-you letter with beautiful handwriting from the proprietress. I would love to visit again.
