    Satisfied every time

    A luxury Hotel that is welcoming to children

    The Room was clean, spacious, and quiet. Diapers for babies, a dedicated diaper bin, and amenities were provided, making our stay very comfortable. The bathroom and toilet are separate, and the bathtub is large, so you can relax at your leisure. This is a Hotel we would love to stay at again.

    Your go-to Accommodation when staying in Kobe.

    The area around the Hotel is quiet at night, and there are few restaurants or convenience stores, but it’s convenient because you can walk to Sannomiya. The Room was clean, and the welcome drink (water) made the stay comfortable. Whenever I stay in Kobe, I always end up choosing this Hotel!

    It was the best vacation.

    Since it rained on the second day of our two-night stay, we skipped sightseeing and picked up some delicious food at the nearby Daimaru for daytime drinks. We relaxed in the spacious, comfortable Room while enjoying great food, took a nap, and then in the evening enjoyed Sannomiya’s gourmet scene. It was wonderful.

    A perfect base for exploring Kobe

    I stayed one night as a base for my trip to Kobe. The location is close enough to Sannomiya Station to walk back and forth, and since it’s in the former foreign settlement area, the surroundings felt like a quiet business district, making for a calm stay. The Hotel seems to have been recently renovated; the modern Facility felt new, and I was able to spend comfortably thanks to thoughtful services like towel replacement and bed-making in the evening after check-in. I also appreciated that they stored my unnecessary luggage at the cloakroom on the morning of check-in while I went sightseeing. Breakfast was delicious too, with many well-crafted dishes. I was happy to see a lineup that reflected local flavors such as Nankinmachi and Kobe beef croquettes. The French toast mentioned in other Reviews really was outstanding. Since there’s a City Loop bus stop right behind the Hotel, I could relax in my Room until the last minute. Check-out was smooth and stress-free. It’s a Hotel I’d recommend to my parents as well.

    Comfortable THE ORIENT

    We had a very comfortable stay. Breakfast was great with a wide variety of options. The club lounge was also relaxing and pleasant. If possible, we would have appreciated having a few more light snacks available in the lounge.

    I have stayed here s...

    I have stayed here several times and was looking forward to this visit. This was my first stay since the recent changes. I have used the club lounge a few times before and always had a very pleasant experience, so I paid extra to access it again this time. However, there was no champagne among the drinks... There was also no fruit available, which made me wonder what was going on. Even when I tried to ask the lounge staff, they were attending exclusively to one male guest. They even brought him refills in the middle of their conversation and continued talking with him, so it wasn’t a situation where I could ask anything. They were sitting down chatting as well, which made me feel that the Hotel’s standards had dropped significantly. When I left the lounge, they were still engrossed in conversation and did not even greet me... I understand that guests are important, but we are also paying specifically for that space, so I hope it can be an equally comfortable environment for everyone. In addition, I went in the morning looking forward to croissants, but I was told they wouldn’t be available unless I waited 30 minutes—and that only three would be provided at a time... Even if done little by little, is this cost-cutting...? The staff throughout the Hotel also felt nicer before. That said, this is a Hotel I really like, so I would still like to stay again.

    An elegant Hotel with a sense of history

    It was my first stay at The Orient in a while, and it was very comfortable. Since my time in Kobe was short this trip, I happened to find a great-value late check-in Plan on IKYU, but the quality of service did not drop at all and I had a wonderful time. The bar we used for dinner and the breakfast restaurant both offered excellent food and thoughtful, personal service, with an atmosphere reminiscent of Singapore’s Raffles Hotel. As a guest, I also appreciated the complimentary early-morning café time before breakfast hours.

    Indulge in a luxurious stay!

    Ever since I stayed here when I joined the Kobe Marathon before COVID, I’d been hoping to return someday, but it never quite worked out—this time I found a great Plan, so I chose it as my Accommodation for a solo trip. Starting with the reception team, all of the staff were truly gentle and made me feel at ease. Every item in the Room was high quality. It may be a little more expensive than other places, but once again I felt that it’s absolutely worth it (at least compared with Hotels in Osaka or Kyoto in the same price range, it feels several times more luxurious). I’ve always felt that Hotels in Hyogo have an especially high standard for breakfast, and this one was no exception—everything was carefully prepared using premium ingredients. I was honestly disappointed with myself for getting full so quickly (I couldn’t even try the curry bread or the French toast... next time for sure). I visit Kobe often, so I’d love to stay again soon!

    A Hotel wrapped in a stylish fragrance

    It was a Hotel in the city with an elegant presence. A convenient location within walking distance of Motomachi, Nankinmachi, and the harbor. Inside the Hotel, you can relax surrounded by a subtle oriental fragrance. The service was also excellent; a young bellboy assisted us very earnestly, which left a great impression. The only thing that concerned me was that near the sofas beside the lobby on the 17th floor, some foreign guests were eating food with quite a strong smell. Isn’t eating and drinking prohibited in the lobby? Even the fragrance couldn’t compete... That was my only concern. It is a very calm and wonderful Hotel, and I would like to stay again next time. Thank you for your hospitality.

    We had a cozy, home-like stay.

    I stayed for two nights on my first business trip to Kobe. I traveled from Tokyo, and many people recommended this Hotel, so I made a Reservation. The view from my Room of Meriken Park and the illuminated Ferris wheel was beautiful. The French toast at breakfast was truly delicious. Even though I was traveling alone, I enjoyed hayashi rice and a beer at the bar in the evening, and the staff kindly took lots of photos for me. They also gave me friendly tips about the city of Kobe. The Hotel is small in scale, and all the Facility areas are compact, making it very relaxing. Whenever I come to Kobe, I definitely want to stay here again. Thank you again, and I look forward to returning.

    It was my first time back in Kobe in a while, and I was very satisfied.

    It was my daughters’ first time in Kobe, and my first visit in over 10 years. The Room had a wonderful night view, and the bathroom was spacious and comfortable. All the staff were kind, which made our stay very pleasant. At the breakfast buffet, everything was delicious and I ended up eating too much! In particular, the croissants were perfectly flaky, and the freshly baked madeleines were also excellent. My daughters say they want to come again.

    Aggressive upselling for a lounge upgrade

    Among Hotels across The whole country, I believe the meals and the Room are unquestionably top-notch—possibly No. 1. The front desk service has also been very pleasant, and until now everything has always been perfect. However, this time, the persistent push at the front desk to upgrade to the club lounge felt like it diminished the Hotel’s dignity. I hope to see improvements in the future.

    A Relaxing Atmosphere

    Thank you for your attention to detail—it made our stay truly wonderful. This is my favorite Hotel in Kobe. For example, the disposable comb was a brush-style one, and the hand soap had an amazing scent. I felt that each thoughtful touch added up to create the ultimate relaxation. Thank you so much. I will definitely stay again.

    The club lounge is excellent.

    Although we didn’t have good weather during our stay, the Hotel was so satisfying that the whole trip became a great memory. The club lounge in particular was very comfortable, and the staff were excellent. It isn’t large, and it doesn’t offer substantial, meal-sized food, but we enjoyed the well-chosen selection of drinks and snacks—mainly featuring local items. Because you can receive almost the same service on both check-in and check-out days without being too constrained by timing, I think choosing a Room with club access is well worth it even if your itinerary has a late arrival. The Room was just as shown in the photos—or even more stylish—and the amenities were well stocked. It’s a little far from the harbor, but the location is still convenient overall, and if I have another chance to stay in Kobe, I’d like to stay here again.

    First Stay

    I chose this hotel for my trip to Kobe because of its great location and atmosphere, the highly rated breakfast, and a Club Lounge where I could relax. It was exactly as expected—the lounge staff were very attentive, the Room layout was convenient, and the breakfast was delicious, so I had a relaxing stay. I would like to stay on the club floor again next time.

    A family-friendly Hotel

    I have stayed here several times before, and this time I visited with my 1-year-old child. I really appreciated being able to request items such as a bed guard, a non-slip bath mat, and diapers via the tablet in the Room. They also provided baby wipes in the Room, and since traveling with a small child requires so much extra care, I was truly grateful for all these thoughtful services. I am currently breastfeeding and avoid caffeine, so having decaf coffee available was another small but meaningful touch that really warmed my heart. It was a trip that helped me recover from everyday fatigue. I would love to stay again.

    Breakfast buffet

    At breakfast, you have to order one item first, but it takes far too long to arrive. I ordered the Japanese set meal and didn’t know how much food would come, so I waited without going to the buffet because I didn’t want to take too much and be unable to finish. Even after waiting more than 10 minutes, nothing arrived. If breakfast is advertised as a buffet, there’s no point in this system if it’s slower than just getting the food yourself. I planned to eat quickly and leave, but instead wasted time waiting for my order. The French toast we also ordered didn’t arrive either, and guests who came after us received their French toast first. When we asked the staff, they said the order had gone through but would take 15 minutes—so we told them we didn’t need it anymore. Then they brought it right away. If even pouring coffee means waiting more than five minutes, I’d rather pour it myself. The food is delicious, but this system made the experience very unpleasant. The previous approach—showing guests to their seats and then letting them help themselves—was much better.

    This was my first stay since Oriental Hotel became THE ORIENTAL Hotel. I stayed several times when it was Oriental Hotel, and it’s a Hotel I truly love! Even though the name has changed to THE ORIENTAL, everything is just as wonderful as ever: a calm Room, a large bathtub, and a spacious separate washing area in the bathroom. The atmosphere of the Room is so relaxing. I’m sure even international guests can stretch out comfortably in the bath! I enjoyed a quiet, relaxing stay all the way until the 12:00 checkout. The only change I noticed might be that the in-Room phone has become a tablet—otherwise, it’s still the same lovely Hotel as always. I also enjoyed breakfast via room service at my own pace—it was delicious.

    Thoroughly satisfied with the evolving services and unwavering hospitality.

    We stayed again after two months, and for us as a mature couple, this Accommodation remains our go-to place in Sannomiya. We were welcomed with a smooth check-in in the slightly renovated lobby and warm greetings, making this another relaxing stay. We are always grateful for the guest-focused services, such as four complimentary bottles of mineral water in the room and free parking for 24 hours after entry. Now, about breakfast: the French toast and croquettes that concerned me a little last time were back to their expected “usual delicious taste,” which was a relief. I was also surprised that sparkling wine was available as a free drink. Unfortunately I couldn’t have any because I needed to drive, but many guests seemed to be enjoying it. The acai smoothie was exceptional as well. The restaurant was quiet early in the morning, so we were able to enjoy a luxurious start to the day. Thanks to the wonderful hospitality of all the staff, it turned into a great trip. We look forward to visiting again in July.

    Unchanged, always.

    When I’m tired, I come here to eat and stay overnight. The warm hospitality of the restaurant staff puts me at ease, I sleep in a clean and beautifully kept Room, and the friendly, attentive conversations with the front desk staff refresh my spirit so I can return to everyday life.     Anniversary Trip

    It is a good Hotel.

    This was my second stay, and I truly appreciated what a well-run Hotel it is. The bathroom has a washing area and is easy to use, and the Room is very modern overall with a wonderful atmosphere. The cotton pajamas were so comfortable that I bought a set. Next time, I’d like to treat myself and enjoy the meals. It’s a Hotel I’d love to visit again.

    A stylish Hotel in a great location

    With an ocean view and a great location, it’s easy to head out for nearby shopping and dining. It feels like all the best parts of Kobe are packed into one place. The club lounge didn’t change much throughout the day, but it was very quiet when we visited, so we could relax at our own pace. The in-Room minibar was free and very well stocked, and we really appreciated having plenty of bottled water provided. Breakfast in the main dining room was also excellent—each dish was full of flavor and truly delicious.

    Perfect for exploring Kobe on foot!

    Located in the heart of the former foreign settlement, within walking distance of both Chinatown and Sannomiya Station. Even by car, the Hotel is right after getting off the expressway, so it was easy to find without getting lost. The Room featured stylish, ship-inspired design and furnishings, offering a calm atmosphere with a high-end feel. Everything we needed was provided, including all amenities. If anything was missing, we could request it via the in-room monitor or iPad. It was a pity that we couldn’t connect to the Marshall speaker via Bluetooth.

    As it is a PDS-affiliated Hotel, I trusted it, but...

    Because it is a bit far from Sannomiya Station, it is less convenient than Hotels near the station, but I returned because I was more than satisfied with the atmosphere and the Room. Overall, I had no major complaints and the Room was comfortable, but there was one thing that left me puzzled. Before my stay, I called to ask whether you could lend me a curling hair dryer. After checking, I was told it would be available, so I did not bring my own. At check-in, a female staff member at the front desk told me that the requested curling hair dryer had been placed in my Room, so I trusted this completely and did not check. However, due to other commitments I ended up bathing late at night, and when I went to use it after washing my hair, there was a hair iron there instead of a curling hair dryer... I don’t know whether a staff member who didn’t understand what a curling hair dryer is placed it there, or whether it was mistakenly communicated as a hair iron. In any case, since it was late at night and after bathing as well, I didn’t feel able to request the curling hair dryer again. I believe it was simply an honest mistake; however precisely because it was such a simple mistake, my disappointment was significant. This may sound like a complaint, but I wanted to leave this Review. Next time I visit, I think I will refrain from making requests.

    This is not a Hotel.

    I believe Reviews tend to be long when people have complaints, and I’m skeptical of overly long Reviews that only praise the good points. Now, I have a lot I could say, but I’ll keep it to one point: This is not a Hotel. It feels like something created by people who see it as entertainment with beds where you can sleep. At the very least, it is fundamentally different in philosophy from the “Oriental Hotel,” which proudly showcased its spirit of hospitality to the world at the time Kobe’s port opened. That difference itself is fine, but I honestly find it unpleasant that even the name “Oriental Hotel” is treated as something to be consumed as a mere symbol. They should change the name.

    Dream Hotel

    This was a Hotel I had always dreamed of staying at someday. I love a Hotel stay where I book the club floor and relax in the lounge, but this lounge didn’t really feel like a place to linger for long, which was a bit disappointing. Still, the lounge staff were incredibly kind and friendly—they even prepared an afternoon tea with six kinds of sweets in an elegant case just for us, and when we stopped by after dinner they recommended champagne as well. Even without spending much time in the lounge, it was great that our Plan included a complimentary in-Room minibar, so we could toast with sparkling wine from the morning. I also used the gym, and all the staff—including those who delivered workout wear to my Room—were wonderful; it truly felt like Orient quality. The limited-quantity French toast at breakfast was outstanding—unlike anything I’ve ever had before. Rather than a family-oriented stay, this is a luxury Hotel where business travelers and adults can enjoy a stylish stay.

    Back in Kobe after a long time

    It was a high-quality Hotel on my first trip back to Kobe in a while. While it isn’t very large, the attentive service made for a highly satisfying stay, and the staff’s warm hospitality really stood out. I would like to stay at this Hotel again.
