    A quiet, intimate Accommodation tucked away from the bustle

    This was my first stay in Yufuin Onsen. We stayed in a two-bedroom Room with an open-air bath. Each Room was separate, so it was very quiet and relaxing. The Onsen water left my skin feeling smooth, so I thought it might be alkaline. You can adjust the temperature of the open-air bath to your liking, which is perfect for anyone who prefers lukewarm baths! The Room felt a bit old, but it was spacious and easy to use. What I liked most was the firmness of the bed. I believe it was a Simmons mattress—just right. My wife loved it too. I didn’t have high expectations for the meals given the price, but we enjoyed them, including wagyu sukiyaki. The bottled beer we ordered with dinner was 650 yen, which felt inexpensive for Hotel pricing. Overall, I recommend this Hotel for those who want to relax and enjoy the hot water and nature without leaving their Room. Since it’s far from town, I recommend shopping in advance.

    The Room is worn-out.

    The property has an open-air bath and the Room was spacious, but it is in very poor condition. The wallpaper was dirty, and the paintwork and floors were quite worn. I understand that check-in is at 3:00 PM, but when I arrived 30 minutes early, I was not allowed to rest in the lobby at the front desk. I was instructed to wait in my car. Since I had arrived after a long trip, I wanted to rest on a sofa. Breakfast was served in a private room and we enjoyed it at a relaxed pace. The taste was average.

    It was excellent.

    I really appreciated the service of having our luggage carried to the Room and being shown in, and it was wonderful that the Room had already been warmed up. The open-air bath with free-flowing natural hot spring water was thoughtfully designed so we could adjust the temperature freely by adding cold water. In the morning and daytime we enjoyed the sound of Japanese bush warblers, and at night a sky full of stars—an amazing bathing experience. I think I went in about five times (haha). The meals were not too much—just the right amount. I also appreciated the coffee service in the lobby. The bed was king-size, so I could rest comfortably. Just one thing: when I tried to go directly from the Room to the open-air bath, the screen door had come off. I tried but couldn’t fix it, so I could only access it through the bathroom. I would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

    A private detached house with an open-air bath is the best.

    The staff were very kind, and the Accommodation had a relaxing atmosphere, which was great. I would have appreciated it if you could have stored my luggage after 12:00 on the day of departure, but it seems luggage storage is only available until 12:00, so I wasn’t sure what to do for a while. As a result, I had to drag my suitcase uphill for about 30 minutes to get to my lunch Reservation at 11:30. It was very tiring. It would have been helpful if you could store it until around 14:00.

    The property feels outdated and a bit monotonous.

    I assume the old air conditioner and the heavily frosted refrigerator are simply due to their age, but they were so noisy that I couldn’t sleep (I turned them off to sleep). Since the surroundings are quiet enough to hear birds, I would really like you to replace them with newer, quieter units. The ventilation fan in the dining area was also quite loud, but perhaps the staff have gotten used to it and don’t notice. The peeling paint on wooden parts such as the Room door frames is severe in many places and looks shabby. There’s nothing wrong with an older property itself, but it’s clear that areas like under the indoor bath tub and around the shower hook haven’t been properly maintained. Parts of the wall around the open-air bath are also decaying and have been left as they are. It made me feel that there isn’t much awareness regarding upkeep of the Facility, so everything will gradually continue to deteriorate. The meal includes many dishes, but they were brought out all at once; since it’s a private room dining setup, used plates kept piling up on the table, which didn’t feel very considerate. The food also felt repetitive—for example, lemon garnish was reused multiple times—giving an impression that monotony has been left unaddressed. It seems this place has offered high-quality private Onsen experiences in the past, so it’s disappointing that aging and deterioration have been neglected. The staff were polite and left a good impression, which makes it even more unfortunate that management or those responsible for Facility maintenance do not appear to be checking things against a high standard.

    The open-air bath with snowy views was wonderful.

    I visited during heavy snowfall from a severe cold wave. Given the weather, I truly appreciated the attentive service—from advance communication to seeing me off. I was able to enjoy a peaceful time and an excellent hot spring with snowy views. Both dinner and breakfast were wonderful, but I would have liked the dumpling soup at breakfast to be a bit warmer.

    Stayed during midwinter.

    Stayed during midwinter with dinner and breakfast included. The Room was equipped with floor heating, two air conditioners, and a gas heater, allowing for a comfortable stay without feeling the cold. Both breakfast and dinner were extremely delicious, making me glad I chose to stay here.

    Exceptional value ac...

    Exceptional value accommodation! The room features an abundant flow of natural Onsen water, with both open-air and indoor baths, and excellent shower water pressure. The bathroom's adjacent sink area is equipped with underfloor heating for comfort. With two air conditioners and a gas fan heater prepared due to the cold weather before our stay, we stayed warm throughout. Meals are served in private rooms for both breakfast and dinner. The variety of dishes was impressive, with the main sukiyaki being thick, flavorful, and delicious. Rice was perfectly cooked and offered unlimited refills—satisfying even for those with hearty appetites. Breakfast included "Dago-jiru" soup featuring juicy pork that was incredibly tasty. A 24-hour lounge is available where guests can enjoy complimentary coffee and tea—a great perk at this price range! One minor point would be the shortage of cups in the lounge; addressing this would make it even better accommodation overall. In summary, this wonderful accommodation offers exceptional value amidst rising costs these days. Thank you for your hospitality—we look forward to visiting again!

    Left alone in a good way

    You will have minimal interaction with staff, mostly during meal times, allowing for a relaxing stay. The rice is quite soft. Meals seem to include many ready-made or pre-packaged items.

    Relaxing Journey

    The staff's hospitality was excellent; they came out immediately upon our arrival at the parking lot and guided us with the car. The Room was spacious and comfortable. The private open-air bath in the Room was a natural hot spring, and my husband enjoyed it multiple times. Although we wanted to bathe while stargazing, unfortunately, it rained, so we couldn't see the stars. We hope to come back for a "revenge" visit someday! The meals were fantastic, and the dessert of Anmitsu made us very happy.

    Best value for money!

    The staff's hospitality and service were kind and pleasant! The accommodation fee, dinner drinks, and paid beverages in the room all felt reasonably priced for their quality, reflecting a sense of genuine hospitality. While the room and facility showed some signs of age, considering the price for a private villa with an open-air bath, it was within an acceptable range. The 12 PM checkout was also a delightful point, allowing us to relax in the open-air bath in our room even after breakfast—absolutely wonderful! The only downside might be cleanliness. There were mysterious dirt clumps near the indoor shower area, fine dust falling from the air conditioner, and perhaps due to summer, the plants around the open-air bath and at the entrance were overly dense rather than enjoyable as part of nature. It didn’t bother me too much as I tried not to focus on it, but sensitive guests might find it uncomfortable. That aside, I had a very enjoyable stay overall. Thank you so much!

    Reasonable and good Stays

    Each room was independent and had an open-air bath, making it a relaxing property. To thoroughly enjoy the onsen, I think it's a good place that is reasonably priced and not flashy. Recently, many ryokans compete with extravagant meals, but the cuisine here is just right. The staff's customer service attitude was enthusiastic and very pleasant. The accommodation fee is also cheap, so it seems like I can go many times!

    We stayed here for a...

    We stayed here for a pre-birth trip combined with our honeymoon. From check-in to room guidance and dinner service, the same person attended to us. Although they were from overseas, their service was very polite and pleasant. The meals were very delicious, and I am very grateful for the various considerations made for me as a pregnant woman. I took a bath before dinner, but the shower pressure was strong and felt very painful. The open-air bath was very pleasant in the evening, but when I tried it in the morning, it was very lukewarm, and even turning the onsen tap didn't make it hot, so I couldn't enjoy the morning open-air bath. Also, during our stay, the internal phone rang several times, and when I picked it up, there was only silence, which was very eerie as I couldn't understand what the call was for. I thought I would like to use it again next time, but since it seems we can't stay with children, I would like to use it with my husband when the children are older.

    I used this place for a birthday trip and it was really great. The open-air bath was nice, and I used it about six times during my one-night stay! The food was also very delicious and satisfying. If there's one thing, it would be that there was a slightly unpleasant part in the staff's response during the meal. I wish they could have been a bit more pleasant. Other than that, everything was perfect! Thank you very much.
