    The atmosphere is nice.

    Aside from the lack of parking and no lunch service, the building’s age actually creates a wonderful atmosphere. The Hotel’s layout and structure, reminiscent of a classic villa resort from a bygone era, felt pleasantly tucked away and was very appealing. While taking a morning walk, I discovered the Ando Museum—dedicated exclusively to works by Tsuguharu Foujita—about 200 meters away, so I stopped by right after leaving the Hotel. The surroundings were lovely, and being able to enjoy art as well made it a great memory with a very positive impression.

    Fresh Greenery in Karuizawa

    Our group of four elderly women stayed here. We were blessed with good weather and enjoyed a quiet Karuizawa. The breakfast bread, salad, and milk were all very delicious. The Shuttle Service from the station was very helpful, and we also really appreciated that you delivered our luggage to Karuizawa Station after we left it with you and went sightseeing.

    I stayed here becaus...

    I stayed here because of its convenient location for enjoying a concert at Ohga Hall. This Hotel has a quiet atmosphere that lets you feel Karuizawa’s history. Thanks to the kind and attentive service from the staff, I was able to relax and enjoy my stay. Thank you very much. However, I felt that seniors should be careful of the step in the bathroom.

    I wish there had bee...

    I wish there had been a large public bath. However, the Room was clean and comfortable. Dinner was the right portion size and very delicious. It was a bit disappointing that breakfast was changed to a buffet, but the bread was tasty. I walked from Karuizawa Station to the Hotel, but the entrance was hard to find. Still, I’ll be fine next time. If I have the chance, I’d like to stay again.

    This was my first stay. I usually avoid Old Karuizawa because I imagine it gets very crowded, and I typically spend my time around Kita-Karuizawa where our mountain lodge is. This time, however, I discovered that Hotel Marroad Karuizawa, located near Yagasaki Park and Oga Hall, is so comfortable and conveniently situated that I would like to stay here again in the future. The building seems to have been built around 1985 and has a retro feel, but the view of fresh greenery from the courtyard and dining area was wonderful. It was hard to believe that just a 10-minute walk from Karuizawa Station could feel so quiet and peaceful. The front desk staff were kind, and the Room was spacious and relaxing. The breakfast buffet was also delicious. Next time, I’d like to come by Shinkansen to enjoy the snowy scenery and experience Karuizawa in winter.

    A well-established Hotel with solid fundamentals

    While not flashy, the Hotel delivers high quality in the essentials: sleep, meals, air conditioning, and service. It isn’t luxurious, but it’s a reliable and comfortable Hotel. The location is also good. However, the Facility is old, so it is not barrier-free, and the air conditioning in the lobby and restaurant is somewhat underpowered (it was a bit cold). The Room air conditioning has no issues.

    All the staff provided excellent service, making our trip to Karuizawa a wonderful memory. The breakfast was delicious, and the room, a Japanese-Western style, was spacious and comfortable. We are very grateful for the prompt Shuttle Service to the station.

    It is not a new hote...

    It is not a new hotel, but it was clean and comfortable, making for a satisfying stay. The staff were polite and courteous, allowing for a pleasant experience. I would like to stay here again when visiting Karuizawa.

    A quiet and peaceful...

    A quiet and peaceful hotel. The age of the facility is not much of a concern. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and satisfying. The staff's service at the front desk and restaurant was excellent. Shuttle service to the station was provided promptly, free of charge, with no limit on the number of trips both on the day of stay and the following day, which was very convenient for shopping at outlets or near the station.

    Second Stay at Marroad

    This was my second stay here. The Hotel retains the charm of the Showa era, with a quiet and clean front area and Room, allowing for a comfortable holiday. The breakfast, featuring seasonal vegetables and bread from a French bakery, was very delicious. Next time, I would love to try dinner as well. The staff seemed to work with pride, and the Shuttle Service driver shared stories about the Hotel's history. I heard that renovations are being considered; I hope this atmosphere will be preserved.

    This was my first time using this facility. While the facility itself is indeed old, the staff's pleasant hospitality made for a comfortable stay. I will use it again. One point: the bottom of the bathtub in the bathroom is slippery, so it would be appreciated if anti-slip measures could be implemented.

    A Hotel Where You Can Experience the Essence of Karuizawa

    It is within walking distance from the station, and the Hotel Shuttle Service is also available, making it very convenient. This Hotel offers a wonderful atmosphere where you can fully enjoy the charm of Karuizawa. While the building may show some signs of age, it adds character and makes it even more appealing. The staff are extremely kind, and the Shuttle Service drivers are highly skilled and considerate towards guests. For those considering meal plans, we highly recommend choosing a meal-inclusive Plan. Although we only had breakfast, it was delicious, and we regretted not opting for a dinner Plan as well. Since nearby restaurants close early and have limited seating, enjoying dinner at the Hotel could be an excellent option if you have no specific plans.

    I have been staying ...

    I have been staying here every year recently, during the fresh greenery of May or the cool summer in August. The full-course dinner is always exceptional and something I look forward to. This time as well, I was very satisfied with the seasonal course using spring ingredients. The location is convenient for strolling around Kyu-Karuizawa. The entire hotel is kept clean, and although the facility is old, small renovations can be noticed with each stay, showing thoughtful improvements.

    I was able to enjoy a quiet and leisurely stay at the Hotel.

    At the restaurant, we enjoyed dinner while admiring the beautifully lit trees. Every dish was excellent in both taste and presentation, and although we chose the half dinner option, we were very satisfied. It was a weekday and not crowded, but we received heartfelt hospitality from the staff at the restaurant and bar, allowing us to have a pleasant time.

    When I previously used the hotel for coffee and meals, the staff's service was excellent, so I decided to stay after the concert at Oga Hall this time. Thanks to the staff's warm yet efficient service, I was able to enjoy my time not only at the front desk but also in the restaurant. There is also a shuttle service to the station, which I used this time, and it is very convenient. To all the staff, please continue to welcome us warmly.
