    The bath was a truly authentic free-flowing hot spring, and it warmed me up wonderfully. The meals were carefully prepared with high-quality, healthful ingredients, and I was very satisfied. The classical music during dinner was lovely and helped me relax. I would like to stay here again.

    An Exquisite Stay

    In the detached Room, we fully enjoyed the free-flowing Onsen from the source and a calm, relaxing atmosphere. With the wonderful meals and everyone’s warm hospitality, we left the Accommodation hoping to return again.

    The first drink is included.

    The Room with a private bath where we stayed had been renovated in recent years and was very clean. The bath was extremely spacious, and the Taisho-romantic frosted glass was lovely; the ornaments also created a great atmosphere. It felt pleasantly independent, almost like renting an entire house. However, while the living room chairs were beautiful, it was a bit disappointing that you couldn’t stretch your legs out to truly relax. The meals were delicious, but perhaps because the appetizer was already set out from the start, we finished it before our drinks arrived—disappointing, as we wanted to enjoy it with alcohol.

    Including the annex, there are more than ten rooms. We stayed in a room with a private indoor bath, but from check-in onward, the staff’s manner and choice of words felt somewhat different from what the ratings suggested. The meal is served in separate tiers (first, second, and third), but the second tier was fried items and left us unconvinced. The third tier was 30–45 g of Shimane beef; it was presented in a deep bowl with the meat sitting on top of a beef-stew-like sauce—again, not very convincing. The day before, we stayed in a highly rated premium suite at historic Tamatsukuri Onsen—so you can imagine the comparison.

    I was truly impressed.

    We stayed in the Room called “Tenpo.” It was a renovated relocation of a village headman’s house built 180 years ago. It felt like we had traveled back in time. The Onsen was incredibly relaxing—we could have stayed in it forever. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, with dishes that made the most of the ingredients. It became an unforgettable memory for the two of us. We’d love to visit again in a different season. Thank you for taking such great care of us. Thank you for giving us such wonderful memories.

    Wonderful Yunokawa Onsen Accommodation

    I planned this trip because I wanted to visit Izumo Taisha Shrine. Based on IKYU’s reviews, I chose Soan, and the Room was a beautifully renovated traditional house with classic furnishings and a lovely semi-open-air bath. The water temperature was just right, and I wished I could have stayed in it forever. The meals were delicious, with thoughtful explanations. Breakfast also came with careful illustrated notes, which I really appreciated. There were five private baths as well, and each one was enjoyable. This has become an Accommodation I would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

    Birthday celebration

    This was my second stay. Each time, the staff warmly welcomed me upon arrival and kindly escorted me to my Room, which felt very pleasant. This time, instead of a private bath, I stayed in a Room with an Onsen and was able to relax in the Onsen at my leisure and spend a restful time in the Room. The antique furniture also created a calm atmosphere and was wonderful. I enjoyed the meals as well—small portions of various dishes—and this time I felt the overall volume was quite satisfying. I stayed both last time and this time to celebrate my birthday, and I truly appreciated the heartfelt celebration and thoughtful hospitality. I would love to stay again.

    I was so impressed by how delicious the food was that I returned after about a month and a half. At reception, there was no particular comment about my return visit, so I wondered if they hadn’t noticed. However, when I was shown to my Room, they said, “You don’t need an explanation of the facilities this time, right?”—so it seems they were aware. When I arrived at the Ryokan and checked in, there wasn’t even a brief remark like “Welcome back” or “Thank you for choosing us again,” which felt uncharacteristic for a Ryokan. What disappointed me even more was dinner. I truly appreciate that you accommodated my request not to be served raw foods, but unfortunately the meal content was almost exactly the same as last time. At checkout, I asked whether dinner is changed for guests who return within a short period of time, and I was told it is not. They also told me that if I want it to be different, I should call in advance to ask whether the menu has changed before making a Reservation. They do change meals for guests on a Multiple Night Stay. I have revisited many restaurants and Ryokan within one or two months in the past, and without making any requests myself, they all made sure most dishes did not overlap. This was my first experience at an Accommodation where there seemed to be little consideration of that kind for returning guests. From their response to my question, it felt like this is simply their policy. If that is this Accommodation’s approach, then perhaps it can’t be helped. It is an Accommodation where you can eat very well and rest comfortably; however, compared with other Ryokan in this price range, it was disappointing that there seemed to be almost none of the standard consideration typically offered to returning guests. Dinner is delicious and healthy; the Onsen bath in the Room is comfortable; it’s quiet and you can sleep well. The garden path also has charm and is lovely. It may suit those staying only once—or those who prefer dinner not to change even on a short-interval return visit. Overall, there’s no doubt it’s a wonderful Accommodation—which is exactly why it felt like such a missed opportunity. If we have another chance in the future, I would consider returning.

    This was my first stay at this accommodation, and it was truly wonderful. From the approach at the entrance, lighting, room design, cuisine, to the selection of drinks—everything exceeded expectations. The private room bath had a calming atmosphere with smooth and pleasant spring water. Additionally, it was conveniently close to the private open-air bath, which we also enjoyed. The garden trees covered in snow created a stunning view. The detailed descriptions of the dishes were a unique touch not often seen in other ryokans and reflected the dedication of those preparing them. On that day, due to heavy snowfall combined with strong winds, there were loud noises from outside trees hitting against our room's walls which made us uneasy; however, considering wind speeds exceeded 10 meters per second, it seemed unavoidable. All in all, this was undoubtedly one of the most outstanding ryokans we've visited recently. My wife also thoroughly enjoyed her stay. Thank you very much!

    For those sensitive to chemicals or scents, please note that special attention may be needed regarding the bedding at this accommodation—even for those with mild allergies. The meals are served on a tray and may not suit those who prefer kaiseki-style dining with dishes served individually. However, the accommodation is relatively quiet and offers a relaxing atmosphere, making it ideal for guests who enjoy a hidden retreat. It is approximately a 10-minute drive from Izumo Airport.

    Very satisfied with the bathroom in the Room.

    The meals, the atmosphere of the room, and above all, the spacious onsen bath attached to the room were highly satisfying. The quality of the onsen truly lived up to its reputation as one of Japan's top three "beauty baths." Highly recommended accommodation.

    Luxury Travel

    I splurged on an ultra-luxurious accommodation as a treat for my retirement life and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thanks to this, I had an incredibly valuable experience and am very satisfied. From tomorrow, I will return to my modest daily life. It's nice to have such contrasts.

    An accommodation where you can experience the extraordinary

    This was my first time staying at this accommodation. I decided to stay here as a reward for working hard. From the moment I entered the accommodation, I was greeted by a serene atmosphere that felt inviting and comfortable, not out of place at all. The guest room featured antique-style furniture, offering a different ambiance from the exterior but still spacious and cozy. The Onsen attached to the room was excellent, allowing me to relax and soak at my leisure. The meals were accompanied by not only a menu but also information about the nutritional value of each ingredient, which made dining both enjoyable and informative. Each dish was incredibly delicious, prepared in a way that brought out the natural flavors of the ingredients—so much so that I found myself sighing with happiness and marveling at every bite. As mentioned on IKYU.com's introduction page for this accommodation under "Dream Destinations to Visit This Year," it truly lived up to its reputation. The combination of exquisite cuisine and relaxing Onsen helped melt away my daily fatigue naturally. When seasons change again, I would love to stay here once more!

    Delicious Meals

    The meals were excellent. When opening the entrance to the Room, it felt hot... The first impression was... The staff had a relaxed demeanor. Rather than being attentive or distant, they seemed laid-back. Thank you for your hospitality. It was an enjoyable trip to Shimane!

    Comfortable stay, but disappointing meals.

    The ambiance and comfort are excellent, and the futon is very comfortable to sleep on. However, the meals are disappointing. The menu and quality resemble airline food, with a mix of unrelated dishes presented with strange twists. It feels like an attempt at being overly stylish. Particularly disappointing was the miso soup with Shijiko clams served at breakfast—there was no clam flavor, and they were not properly cleaned of sand.

    I visited Shimane after frequently watching "Kamaitachi no Okite," and by chance, I chose this accommodation, which turned out to be truly wonderful. I am writing this as a token of my gratitude. The meals were meticulously prepared with great attention to detail, leaving an impression so profound it’s hard to put into words. I would love to try the menu during a different season. The bath temperature might vary depending on personal preference, but for us as a couple, it was perfect. My husband, who usually doesn’t take long baths, seemed unusually comfortable and relaxed in the water—perhaps due to its quality—which surprised me a little. Additionally, thanks to the season's special feature, we had the opportunity to watch fireflies in the nearby area. It was incredibly moving. The staff at this accommodation provided such warm and pleasant service that I can confidently recommend it to my loved ones. This is an accommodation worth visiting Shimane for again. It became a wonderful memory for our wedding anniversary. Thank you very much!

    The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and it was perfect.

    I stayed in a room called "Shoya." It was a wonderful room utilizing an old traditional house from the Tenpo era. The bathroom in the room was very spacious and excellent. I stayed for two nights, and the meals were incredibly delicious. There was privacy, the garden was beautiful, and the staff's service was impeccable. The day before coming to Soan, I stayed at another hotel in Izumo, but Soan was far superior by comparison. I would love to come back again.

    Solo Trip to Izumo Taisha

    I discovered this Onsen accommodation while searching for a place to stay near Izumo Taisha. Although my wife couldn't join me due to other commitments, I embarked on a solo trip and appreciated the staff's attentive service. As mentioned on their website, the smooth hot spring water left my aging skin feeling rejuvenated after bathing. While private baths are available, the large bath in my room was more than sufficient. The meals offered a variety of dishes but seemed slightly small in portion size and lacked overall impact. Additionally, I believe improvements could be made regarding the contents of the refrigerator and lounge drinks. That said, if I have another chance to visit Izumo, I would love to bring my family along to this accommodation.

    Izumo Taisha Trip

    As expected from one of the top three beauty hot springs, my skin became smooth. Reviews are highly rated, and the staff's service was excellent. Considering my age, it was nice that the meal portions were just right and not too much. However, I wish there had been a bit more to drink in the room. Next time, I’d like to stay in a traditional Japanese house.

    Elegant Healing Journey

    I visited about 5 years ago and loved it, so I decided to return this time. The accommodation has been expanded, but the quality of the hot spring water and the meals remain unchanged, allowing for a very relaxing stay.

    The meals are absolutely amazing!!!!

    I stayed at the separate accommodation of the old manor. The room was slightly different from the atmosphere I saw in the pictures, but it was clean and well-stocked with drinks, so I was generally satisfied. This time, I came looking forward to enjoying the private hot spring bath in my room, so honestly, I didn’t pay much attention to the meals. However!!! Having stayed at various accommodations before, this place served by far the most delicious food I've ever had. It was simply outstanding. Everything from start to finish was incredibly tasty. The portions were perfect, and every dish showcased its ingredients without any unnecessary embellishments—just amazing seasoning. The presentation was simple yet beautiful. We kept saying, "Can food really be this consistently delicious?" throughout our meal—it truly exceeded expectations! If there were a 10-point scale for meals, I'd give it a perfect score. Knowing how good breakfast would be made me excited to wake up in the morning! I just had to share my excitement about how incredible the meals were through this review. The service struck a great balance—attentive yet giving us space—which made for a very comfortable stay. Thank you so much!

    Main Building Guest Room with Indoor Bath A wonderful room that feels like a villa in the forest. The furnishings are tasteful, and despite visiting during a cold season, the room was equipped with an air conditioner, fan heater, and heated carpet for excellent warmth. It offers a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. However, there was some dissatisfaction with the service. While the staff were polite in their language, they walked silently when guiding us to the room. When asking questions, we were told to refer to the instructions in the room instead of receiving direct answers from them on-site. The food presentation was polite but tasted average. The indoor bath is spacious and features natural hot spring water flowing directly from its source, which was highly satisfying.

    The room was kept very clean, the service was good, and the onsen in the room was nice, but the private open-air bath was exceptional, and the meals were good at this onsen property. I think once the parking lot construction is completed, guests will be able to enter the stays comfortably without hesitation.

    Very satisfied with the large private open-air bath.

    We stayed for one night when we visited Izumo Taisha. We chose a room with a private open-air bath, and it was a great decision. The bathroom with a large cypress bath where you can stretch your legs was very spacious, and we could relax slowly. We were very satisfied after soaking in the mellow onsen many times. The meals were just the right amount, served at the right timing, and were delicious. There was a booklet with information on the nutritional value and benefits of the ingredients, separate from the menu. For an elderly couple with not much to talk about face-to-face (laughs), it was a good conversation starter and educational. It was a property we would like to visit again if we ever have the chance to visit Izumo again.
