The Long-Awaited Crab Plan
It’s usually hard to book a crab kaiseki Plan for a solo stay, but this Accommodation was fine with it. I was worried about the menu, but they served one whole crab in a great variety of dishes. As you’d expect from a dining Ryokan, everything was delicious. I was very satisfied. The Room furnishings were beautiful, but on the accommodation side it felt a bit lacking—there were only two hangers, the humidifier was still put away, and there were no cotton swabs or hair ties. The bed was quite low, so for an older guest like me it was a little difficult to get up. Since it’s such a historic building, I think I would have enjoyed it even more if there were something like an in-house tour for architecture lovers. Even so, when I was wandering around on my own, the proprietress and staff members who happened to be there kindly explained various things to me, which made me happy. The manager also gave clear directions to Oyama Shrine, and I enjoyed walking around town. I’d like to visit again during crab season.

Immerse yourself in the elegance and charm of Kaga Hyakumangoku.
I had the privilege of spending New Year's for the first time at Kinjohro, one of Kanazawa's most renowned ryokan. With my mother being from Kanazawa and having spent six years studying in this city myself, it had always been a dream to welcome the New Year at Kinjohro. However, I hesitated for a long time, feeling that such a prestigious and traditional ryokan might be beyond my reach. This year, I finally had the opportunity to visit Kanazawa with my son and fulfill this long-held dream. The elegant architecture, refined furnishings harmonizing sophistication and grace, exquisite Kutani ware and Kaga Yuzen kimonos—everything exuded timeless beauty. The traditional Kaga cuisine featuring local specialties like yellowtail fish, crab, duck dishes such as kamo-jibu stew prepared with care using authentic ingredients—and even the osechi New Year’s feast—were simply exceptional. The room and bath filled with the soothing scent of cypress wood added to an unforgettable experience. Above all else was the heartfelt hospitality provided by staff who embody over 130 years of tradition in this historic city of Kanazawa. It felt as though we were transported back in time to experience the grandeur of Kaga Hyakumangoku culture. On New Year's morning after enjoying osechi cuisine, we joined other guests along with the owner, proprietress (okami), head chef, staff members and their families for a mochi-pounding event at the entrance. The friendly atmosphere shared among everyone under glimpses of blue sky through clouds made it truly special—the taste of kinako-coated mochi will remain etched in our memories alongside our stay at Kinjohro. Thank you so much to everyone at Kinjohro! I look forward to experiencing more seasonal delights from Kanazawa’s rich culture through future visits here.

Joint birthday party with college club friends?
Three friends from Kansai and Kanto planned to meet in Kanazawa and made a reservation last January, but had to cancel due to the earthquake. This time, it's a revenge trip. Although the Kansai group could no longer come on a single Thunderbird train, we stayed this time and were impressed with everything. We are already talking about wanting to visit again.

It was a very lovely...
It was a very lovely Ryokan. The meals featured seasonal ingredients and traditional Kanazawa cuisine, beautifully presented on elegant tableware that was a delight to the eyes as well. My husband particularly loved the Ikkanjin tableware and even searched for a store to purchase it. The staff kindly accommodated our sudden request for a celebratory arrangement, and everyone was very friendly. One concern was that the washroom area felt dimly lit; having a mirror with lighting would be nice. While shampoo and conditioner were provided, there was no body soap, only bar soap available. Since all rooms and hallways are tatami-floored, I felt sorry for bringing my suitcase along.

Delicious cuisine and attentive service
This was my first time using this service. I had heard before that the food was delicious, and indeed it was wonderful. It stands in contrast to the flashy presentations often found at Onsen Ryokan, where the taste is mediocre. Each dish for both breakfast and dinner was carefully prepared. I enjoyed all the arrangements, including dishes, hanging scrolls, and flowers that allowed me to experience Kanazawa's culture! I would definitely like to use it again. Although I used a car and understand it's unavoidable being in the city center, it was narrow and difficult to park, which was unfortunate. But that's understandable. Everything else is 5 stars! Thank you very much!

Impressive! Satisfying!
Stayed with a plan that included a whole Kanou crab for a commemorative trip, even though it was quite a stretch. First, I was moved by the surprise room upgrade! Then, at the much-anticipated dinner, I was again impressed by the appearance of crab legs larger than I imagined! The crab, whether with gel, charcoal-grilled, or in porridge, had a unique twist and was truly delicious. Other dishes like sashimi and soup were also exquisite, making it a very satisfying trip enjoying a long-established restaurant.

Sad Stays, Regretful Service
The good part was that we could have meals in an old wooden building, and the entrance was wonderful. Since there is no large public bath, we used the indoor bath, but the dimly lit bath was full of mold, and when we filled it with water, hair and black mold floated up. The food was somewhat tasty, but the flavor was too strong, making us thirsty. I requested that the course be served as quickly as possible because my elderly father finds it difficult to sit for long periods, but the waitress arrogantly replied with just five words, "That's not possible." After that, the speed of the dishes never increased, and even when we wanted to order drinks due to thirst, the waitress rarely came except for the occasional dish serving. We returned to the room to call the front desk, but no one answered. Finally, the waitress said she would bring dessert but never returned, so we went back to our room. The makeup remover cream with amenities had a significantly oxidized oil smell, and the lotion seemed similarly deteriorated. Why did I make a reservation at such a place? I am truly regretful about the time spent on what would likely be my father's last family trip due to his physical condition.

We deeply apologize for the hair found in the bath. We clean thoroughly every day, but we will ensure to check more carefully after wiping. Regarding the bathtub, as it is a cypress bath, discoloration occurs due to aging. Please rest assured that there is no peeling of black mold. We apologize for the time taken for your dinner. As kaiseki cuisine is served dish by dish, it inevitably takes about two hours. We tried our best to serve as quickly as possible, but we apologize for not meeting your expectations. Regarding the dessert, we received a message that you would return to your Room, so we brought it to your Room, but we apologize for the delay in serving it. We always instruct our service staff to be very careful with their language. We informed you that it might be difficult to serve within your desired time, so you may have felt that way. We will continue to enhance communication with our guests. Also, you called the front desk several times, and there may have been times when we could not answer. We apologize again. Regarding the cleansing milk and lotion amenities, they are cosmetics developed by the long-established sake brewery 'Fukumitsuya' in Kanazawa, containing rice fermentation liquid made by fermenting rice with koji, yeast, and lactic acid bacteria for about a month and maturing for over six months. Some people may be concerned about the fermentation smell, but please rest assured that it is not oxidation or deterioration. We sincerely take your words to heart, and all our staff will strive even harder. We look forward to welcoming you again. Thank you for your feedback.
