    A quiet Accommodation with beautiful views of Mt. Yufu

    I stayed here because the Accommodation highlighted that you can see the Seven Stars in Kyushu from the Room. It really was a Room with a great view, and I was able to photograph the Seven Stars in Kyushu with Mt. Yufu in the background. You can also see Mt. Yufu from the Onsen in the Room. The medicinal rice porridge at breakfast was especially delicious!

    Highly recommended.

    It was a very pleasant accommodation with a great atmosphere. Starting with an alcoholic welcome drink, the room had a traditional Japanese-style design, creating a wonderful ambiance. The dining area featured large windows offering views of Mount Yufu and the tranquil Yufu landscape. The meals included meat, seafood, and vegetables prepared in various ways, allowing us to enjoy them at our leisure. Additionally, free drinks including alcohol were available during meals, so there was no need to order paid beverages for satisfaction. At night, the front desk counter transforms into a self-service free drink corner with alcohol options as well—perfect for those who enjoy drinking. Breakfast offered plenty of side dishes that paired well with rice; one bowl was certainly not enough! Of course, refills were allowed without hesitation. You could also opt to switch from white rice to medicinal porridge if preferred. The bath in the room was designed to give an open-air feel despite being indoors and had perfect temperature and water flow settings. What stood out most was the exceptional service provided by one of the staff members during our meal—a calm and attentive individual of Asian descent who made our family feel truly relaxed. On the downside, there were some minor issues: construction work next door affected the view from our room slightly negatively; also, we encountered a centipede near the entrance just before bedtime which startled us all—but considering it’s surrounded by nature, such occurrences are understandable. Overall though, my family thoroughly enjoyed our stay here—it’s an accommodation I would highly recommend!

    I want to try again.

    I chose this room because I really wanted to see the view of Mount Yufu from the window. Although the weather was great that day, the high humidity caused a thick white fog, and I couldn't enjoy the view at all. Since it's nature, there's nothing that can be done about it, but it was very disappointing. However, the room was very quiet. The bath had plenty of towels prepared, and I enjoyed the Onsen. The meals were also delicious, and the staff were polite and very kind, making my stay comfortable. I hope to visit again someday to see the view. Thank you very much!

    The hospitality, service, and meals were all excellent, allowing us to enjoy a truly relaxing holiday. If I had to mention one thing... it would have been even better if there was a comfortable sofa (even a single-seater or reclining type) in the Room. Sitting on the floor chair wasn't very relaxing, and lying down on the bed felt a bit off. As for breakfast, while the rice porridge was delicious and there were plenty of side dishes, I found myself craving plain white rice instead. It would be nice if we could choose at the beginning. Since I don't eat much, I ended up feeling overly full after finishing my meal!

    I stayed in the "Shakuyaku" room. The spacious living room, bedroom, and bathroom were very satisfying. The bathroom is an indoor bath, but with glass walls facing outside, it feels very open. Additionally, there is an open-air bath beyond the glass doors. I was able to enjoy a luxurious bathing experience. Instead of dining at a venue, there was a separate dining room within the accommodation where we could enjoy meals at our own pace in comfort. The portion sizes were slightly small, but the taste and quality of ingredients were excellent overall. At night, it was very quiet; I found great comfort in the lively croaking of frogs and the occasional sound of trains passing by. Everything was clean and well-maintained, making for a very pleasant stay.

    A tranquil accommodation

    Choosing this place was the perfect decision! The welcome drink was absolutely delightful, especially after arriving from a drive—it was bubbly and refreshing. The location is excellent, providing a serene and relaxing atmosphere. The meals were outstanding as well. If I have another chance to visit Yufuin, I would love to stay here again.

    A Wonderful Accommodation

    Everything was excellent. The meals were very delicious, and we also enjoyed the tableware. The presentation of the dishes on the website and IKYU.com is meticulous and beautiful, but the taste was equally outstanding. The wine and other alcoholic beverages paired perfectly with the food, allowing us to enjoy a wonderful pairing experience. The staff at the accommodation were pleasant, and thanks to them, we had a great time.

    I was satisfied.

    The hospitality was excellent. The meals were also very delicious, and having them in a private room was great. Having free drinks was also a big plus. Since it was a very cold day due to the cold wave, the room remained cold even with the heater on (I think it's unavoidable due to the structure of the property), and the bathroom was extremely cold (the window was left open, possibly for ventilation. I wasn't sure if I could close it, so an explanation would have been helpful). After closing the window, it felt much better, and the morning bath was fantastic. I believe you can be fully satisfied if you avoid days that are too cold.

    I used Higashitakumi...

    I used Higashitakumi-an for the first time. I was so satisfied that I didn't want to leave. The Room was Kikyo, and the corridor leading to the Room had a tasteful atmosphere. Once inside, it was a calm space, more spacious than I imagined, and the open-air bath was excellent! It was a bit disappointing that the view from the open-air bath was obstructed by trees, making it difficult to see Mount Yufu, but the view from the private dining room was breathtaking! The staff was cheerful and provided courteous service, which was great. I would love to stay again when I visit Yufuin. Thank you very much!

    I want to visit again.

    I was very satisfied with the Room, bath, and meal content. However, during breakfast, I had to go and call the staff because they didn't come even after ringing the bell about 10 times.

    We stayed as a famil...

    We stayed as a family of four. The space from the lobby was wonderful...! The welcome drink and warabi mochi sweets were very delicious. Our room was the Tsubaki room with a loft, and it was more spacious than it looked in the photos! The view from the loft was also lovely. As for the meals, both dinner and breakfast were just the right amount and everything was exquisite! The free drinks were also appreciated. This time, we used the anniversary plan for my parents' wedding anniversary. We chose a cake, and it was brought out as a surprise, which made my parents very happy. The cake itself seemed to be from a shop in Yufuin and was delicious. Both the room and the meals were wonderful, but above all, I felt the hospitality of the staff was excellent. It was nice that they quickly sensed what we wanted. Most of them seemed to be foreigners, but their earnestness was conveyed, which warmed our hearts even more. Thank you for everything. It is a property we would like to visit again in a different season.

    The expectations dropped a little on my second visit.

    The last time I visited was during the height of COVID, so it seemed like I was given a nice room. It was on the second floor, and I couldn't even tell if there were other people around. However, this time, with COVID over, the hotel staff mentioned that more than half of the guests were international travelers. This time, I was given a room on the first floor with a poor view, and the footsteps and noise from the room above were terrible, preventing me from falling asleep early. Is it acceptable to have structural issues at this price point? I really liked the small, stylish Japanese-modern interior, which is why I returned, but if the noise is this bad, I think I would only stay on the second floor. The food is delicious, so I would rate it perfectly. The staff's hospitality is also impeccable, which makes it all the more frustrating. I would like to ask the management to improve the building.
