    Highly satisfying meals

    Our family used three Rooms. Although we were told the property had been renovated, only one of the three Rooms seemed fully renovated; the other two were only partially updated, and we felt their age in features such as the sliding doors. The bathroom was clean but unfortunately too small. However, both dinner and breakfast were very delicious and beautifully presented, and hot dishes were served at just the right time while still hot, which was very satisfying.

    There was nothing to fault.

    We stayed over a three-day weekend and were very satisfied with both the Facility and the service. It turned into a last-minute trip and we made our Reservation on the day of our stay, but this Ryokan was more comfortable than the Accommodation Fee would suggest. Meals: Breakfast featured a wide variety of dishes made with local ingredients. Everything was delicious. Room: The Room was clean and spacious enough for two people. Being able to replace the hand towels was a small touch, but I really appreciated it. Baths: We bathed twice, morning and evening. We were grateful that we could Reserve a private bath by phone before check-in. Every bath was very clean; none were particularly large, but they felt calm and relaxing. Because the shower water was also Onsen water, the water pressure was weak, but it didn’t bother me much. Inside the Accommodation: Every staff member greeted us with a smile whenever we passed by. We also enjoyed how much there was to see—there’s a pond inside, as well as a beautifully maintained courtyard with an ashiyu (footbath). Since I don’t often buy souvenirs at a Ryokan, I’m glad I could purchase cider made at the on-site winery.

    Different from the photos.

    There is only enough space for one large car in front of the Ryokan, with just a sign directing guests to the parking lot and no staff coming out to assist. The second parking lot was quite far, and carrying large luggage in the rain was challenging. Even upon entering the building, no one came out to help, and other guests' wet umbrellas were left on top of the shoe rack. On departure, there was no send-off to the parking lot, and we carried our own luggage. The female staff members were pleasant and welcoming. The public bath was very small and crowded. We paid an additional fee to reserve a private bath but later found out that unreserved time slots for it were open for free use. It would have been helpful if this had been explained beforehand. Breakfast was also quite disappointing.

    It was a relaxing experience.

    Based on reviews, we chose this accommodation, and everything exceeded our expectations—hospitality, service, cuisine, and facilities were all comfortable and high-quality, providing relaxation for both mind and body. The coin-included plan allowed us to enjoy comparing different wines in small amounts, which was delightful. Thank you very much.

    The accommodation, including the room and facilities, was clean and had a calm atmosphere. The meals and bath were excellent. The staff at the accommodation were very pleasant, making for a comfortable stay.

    Truly regrettable.

    I chose this accommodation after reading the high reviews on IKYU. The service was friendly and homely, not bad at all, but considering it is a slightly expensive ryokan, I had to carry my luggage to the parking lot myself, which is quite unusual. I reserved a detached room, but the cushions for the sunken kotatsu were very thin. The spacious tatami room made it uncomfortable to sit for long periods and relax. Considering the price, it was disappointing. The highly-rated meals in reviews were also underwhelming; some dishes that should have been served warm were cold. Breakfast was particularly disappointing as well. There wasn’t much focus on local ingredients or a sense of Nagano in the meals provided.

    First Trip to Matsumoto

    The room we stayed in was as expected, with no view and quite dim, making it a bit hard to relax. The onsen was small, and it wasn't possible to use it when other guests were present. It seems that private baths are opened during busy times, but unfortunately, we only found out about this as we were leaving. It was disappointing not to have been informed during our stay. We did enjoy the wine available from the coin-operated dispenser. The service was very reserved, so it didn’t quite feel like staying at a ryokan. However, the accommodation itself was extremely quiet and peaceful. Thank you for preparing for us despite the sudden heavy snow causing transportation disruptions—we truly appreciated your efforts even when our arrival seemed uncertain.

    Truly disappointing.

    I reserved a separate room, but the price does not match the service and meals at all. The appetizers were so cold they hurt my teeth. The sashimi was limp. The main dish was served with boiled, cold side dishes on a cold plate. However, if this were a standard room at a lower price, it might be considered an affordable accommodation.

    Cost-effective Ryokan

    It is rare to find a Ryokan this well-equipped at this Accommodation Fee. We enjoyed the foot bath and wine service, and the meals were delicious. However, it was disappointing that the gender-swapping time for the morning Onsen was not implemented, so we couldn't experience one side.

    It was great.

    I brought an elderly person with mobility issues, and the service was excellent. They provided a wheelchair and were very attentive, making our stay comfortable. Thank you very much!

    It was my first time...

    It was my first time visiting this accommodation, and it was cozy, comfortable, and impeccably clean in every detail. The hot spring quality was excellent with a clean bathhouse, and the dinner and breakfast were extremely delicious. I would love to visit this accommodation again.

    Wonderful meal.

    I mistakenly thought I had made a reservation with dinner included, but on the day of my stay, I realized through an email confirmation that it was only with breakfast. When I asked at check-in if there was any way to have dinner, they kindly arranged it for us. Even though it was on the day itself and I expected something simple, the meal was so wonderful that I was deeply moved. The dishes were made in Kyoto and had a classic yet modern feel, allowing us to enjoy a collaboration of food and art by first admiring them visually and then savoring them in our private dining room. After the meal, they also prepared a late-night snack for us to take back to our room. The breakfast was also very delicious. Our room consisted of three Japanese-style rooms with an open-air bath and two washrooms in a separate building, providing ample space. The amenities were well-prepared. After checking out, before we even noticed anything amiss, they contacted us and sent our belongings home for us; we are truly grateful for their attentive service. Thank you very much indeed. We would love to visit again for the onsen (hot spring) and delicious meals.

    Delicious private dining that pleases both the eyes and the palate, and an ancient open-air bath.

    I want to visit this inn again. I was browsing a reservation site and found the kaiseki cuisine very appealing, so I made a reservation. In reality, when I tried the food, it was truly delicious!! It felt like the head chef's ingenuity was packed into it. I can't express it well in words, so I attached many photos. Since I can't attach the taste, please imagine it. Even so, cuisine is art, isn't it? Aren't the carefully selected dishes wonderful? Another reason I chose this inn was their thorough COVID-19 measures. I am grateful for the awareness embedded in each action of the staff. For example, conducting check-in in a separate room, or preparing private rooms for meals, I am truly impressed. Thanks to them, I was able to savor the food slowly. The interior of the building is as clean as if it were newly built. When I asked the reason, I was told that they renew a little each year. The meals are also incorporated with new ideas every season, resulting in new menus. It seems they also create dishes to match them. I have to come every year. [Extra Edition] Actually, I was able to go to the large public bath. I thought it was impossible, but I was informed that I could enter by turning on the switch myself even late at night. That scene appeared in my dream, and when I suddenly looked at the clock, it was 3:55 AM. Alright, let's go. ...I am grateful.

    The meals, bath, and atmosphere were all wonderful.

    I only stayed for one night, but I wished I could have stayed longer. I was impressed by the variety of dishes and the delicate yet distinct flavors that each dish offered. What is amazing about this inn is the abundant use of charming tableware that reflects the soothing nature of Matsumoto. The cleaning of even the smallest details was thorough, and all the staff were very pleasant. I would love to stay here again.
