    The location (enviro...

    The location (environment) was not included in the evaluation criteria, but being by the shores of Lake Biwa was wonderful. Since it was a weekday, there were only three groups including us, making it a quiet and extraordinary experience. The exterior and interior of the cottage were well-designed. It was a completely different accommodation experience compared to high-rise luxury hotels that resemble concrete chicken coops, making it a memorable wedding anniversary. However, it was disappointing that music was playing during meals (I feel Japan is generally insensitive to background music = noise). I wanted to enjoy quiet time and space. I would love to visit again during cherry blossom season. The customer service was excellent.

    A place you'd want to visit again

    We stayed for one night with our family of three, including a third-grader and a small dog. Although it was just one night due to our schedule, we definitely want to stay for two nights or more next time! The area around Lake Biwa has become quite popular recently, but the northern part allowed us to relax, especially since it was the last day of the Obon holiday. We enjoyed the pool, had a great time in the private onsen, and even our child who usually doesn’t eat much had a hearty breakfast because it was so delicious. It’s a resort but still retains its simple and natural atmosphere, which we loved. One of the two dog runs is on a tennis court, which made it slightly hard to find. The check-in process for guests with dogs was also unclear as it had changed from what we found online. It would be helpful if this information could be updated on your official website or included when checking reservations. We stayed in a cottage where lanterns and insect repellents were provided—this was very thoughtful and helpful! It’s truly an excellent facility that prioritizes comfort for its guests. The lounge was also very comfortable. (We read somewhere unofficially that there would be a library in the lounge area; however, this seems to have changed—it’s unfortunate.) Perhaps some adjustments have been made due to circumstances like infectious diseases or rising costs? That’s just my impression. Overall, we enjoyed quiet moments and quality time here. Our family left completely satisfied with our stay—it was wonderful!

    Relax and unwind both body and mind for a truly satisfying experience!

    We stayed for two nights in a Japanese Room with one elementary school child and three adults (including a senior). Away from the city's hustle and bustle, the breeze from the hillside behind and the view of Lake Biwa were refreshing, and the star-filled night sky was breathtaking. The lodge was a modern 4-person room, and despite the intense heat outside, it was comfortable inside. The overall facilities were well-equipped, allowing us to relax in a cozy room. Breakfast was included, and we enjoyed delicious traditional Japanese meals with attention to detail while admiring Lake Biwa during both mornings of our stay. The staff were very kind and accommodating; we would love to visit again if given another opportunity.

    After all, it's good.

    I stayed here for the first time in several years. Due to heavy snow and strong winds, the train suddenly stopped at Omi-Imazu, which was quite troublesome, but I was promptly picked up, which was very helpful. Despite the snow, the driving was careful and reassuring. It was a Plan with the restaurant closed, but I enjoyed a delicious bento box for dinner and a Japanese set breakfast with rice cooked in an earthen pot. I spent the night without stepping out of the villa, but I felt no lack and was able to relax and enjoy my time. In the morning, the staff cleared the snow, ensuring that the paths were safe and dry, allowing me to leave comfortably until the very end. I truly appreciated it. This is indeed a great Property. I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    In May two years ago, a friend made a reservation for me, and since enjoying a one-night stay with two meals, I have become a big fan. At the end of the same year, I tried to make a reservation with little hope and got an OK. After enjoying winter game dishes and a wonderful breakfast, I picked up New Year's dishes in Omi Hachiman and returned home. It was the best New Year's holiday. Since then, I have visited in February, May, and July, and each time I feel the creativity in each dish and the respect for local cooking methods, including breakfast, which is always a delight. In October, I enjoyed a collaboration with Thai cuisine, and this year I will also stay over New Year's via Omi Hachiman. I'm sure the owner, who was a huge favorite, was happily watching over us. I look forward to meeting the works of Mr. Coleman and Ms. Cathy, who will soon return to the United States, next in Los Angeles. Once again, thank you very much. And I have high expectations for the new Raku.

    A hotel you will want to repeat many times

    I have visited multiple times. The staff's attentive and warm service, and the delicious meals that always exceed expectations, made me glad I came again this time. The dog space has also expanded, and my beloved dog seemed to enjoy it. I definitely want to visit again. Thank you for the wonderful time.

    Spend a blissful time at Sower, worth coming for this.

    A revisit after a year and a half. The second time at Sower was once again wonderful. The dishes are carefully crafted using local ingredients with Japanese and Western materials and techniques, and both the presentation and taste are excellent. Equally as impressive as the food is the service from the multinational kitchen staff. They provide attentive service with a brisk yet appropriately distanced manner. I truly think it's a really good restaurant.

    Maybe I expected too much.

    I was very much looking forward to staying at the auberge on the shores of Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture. The room is a log house type, clean and comfortable, but it doesn't feel special, more like being at home. Also, there are no basic skincare products for women in the room amenities, so I think it would be better to bring your own when staying. The location is right in front of Lake Biwa, with mountains behind, so it's very quiet and relaxing. As for the food we were looking forward to, neither dinner nor breakfast suited our tastes. While I appreciate that many ingredients from Shiga Prefecture were used, the fishy smell of the seafood was very noticeable. It would have been fine if it was the flavor of the ingredients, but when I put it in my mouth, there was a clear fishy smell, and the aftertaste of the broth was unpleasant, which was very disappointing. The chef has an impressive background and the reviews were good, so it seems we had too high expectations. Moreover, many of the staff at dinner spoke broken Japanese, and I couldn't understand the explanations of the dishes well. There wasn't an atmosphere to enjoy conversation, and I hesitated to ask them to repeat, so I didn't. I would like them to provide proper explanations in Japanese. Unlike the restaurant staff, the front desk staff were very kind and courteous, even seeing us off at the end. It seems that pets can also stay, so it might be good for those who want to bring their pets. I had high hopes that it would become a favorite place, but I realized that food preferences vary from person to person. Thank you very much.
