    We made wonderful memories.

    Due to the typhoon, train service to the nearest station, Izukyu-Shimoda Station, was suspended. After we contacted the Accommodation, they came to pick us up at a station where trains were still running. A welcome drink (including alcohol) was also prepared, and we felt relieved when we finally arrived. Above all, the meals were outstanding—we truly enjoyed the seafood. We are grateful for their thoughtful care in every way.

    Far from the city center, but with wonderfully fresh air.

    The Room and the Facility were both great. I would have liked a hot towel during the explanation right after arrival. The staff were very polite. It was very disappointing that there was no call bell at the dining table.

    Wonderful

    We stayed in a room with an open-air bath for our wedding anniversary. Even though we had to make a last-minute request regarding our meal, they kindly accommodated us, which truly impressed us. Of course, the food was delicious. The staff were approachable and courteous. The bath, meals, and everything else were wonderful—this is an Accommodation we would love to visit again.

    The guest room was spacious and tastefully arranged, and the meals were outstanding—we enjoyed every dish. The bath was also very pleasant, and we were able to relax and soak at our leisure. We truly appreciated the staff’s thoughtful hospitality and would love to visit again.

    I stayed in the VIP room, but the Facility amenities were far from what the name suggests.

    Because my wife panics and cannot use the large Onsen bath, we always stay in a Room with an open-air bath. This time we stayed in the Imperial Suite (Type E), but the Room facilities felt outdated. In particular, the in-room open-air bath had no faucet or shower, and the indoor bath had not been cleaned; it was only about one tatami mat in size, so we were afraid to use it. The toilet had no hand-washing sink, so we had no choice but to wash our hands at a separate vanity area some distance away. We would have appreciated small touches such as keeping 2–3 bottles of water in the refrigerator and providing slippers in the Room. There is also a Room with an irori hearth, but it was dimly lit and felt old, and we could not bring ourselves to enter it. For these reasons I can only rate our satisfaction as 1. We booked this Accommodation through IKYU.com’s listing, but we were very dissatisfied.

    A Relaxing Accommodation

    We stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and a birthday. We chose a Room with an open-air bath. There was also an indoor bath, but it took quite a while to fill. However, the shower water was also Onsen water, and it left our hair feeling nicely moisturized. The meals were very delicious and quite generous in portion size, so we were completely full. Even after we got into the car and started driving away, the staff kept waving to us for a while, which made us feel warm and happy.

    A charming, traditional Accommodation offering warm hospitality

    I made a last-minute Reservation here to cap off a four-night trip in Izu, and it turned out to be an Accommodation with truly wonderful hospitality that made me feel ready to do my best again from tomorrow. Because of strong winds and a cold snap on the day we arrived, the open-air bath felt chilly and there were lots of leaves in the tub, so I enjoyed the large public bath instead. Some other older guests were there too, and we had a great time chatting—especially about how rare it is these days to see that style of shower taps. Later I learned even the shower water is Onsen water, and I felt deep respect for this Onsen with 1,200 years of history. The next morning, the open-air bath was warmer than the day before, and the tub was spotless—not a single bit of debris—so it was beautifully maintained. The Room was luxuriously spacious and lovely; however, given the season it still felt cold even with the heater running at full blast, so I’d like to return at a different time of year. The corridors, interior spaces, and garden all have charm and are meticulously cared for—calm, tasteful, and exactly my style. The impressive koi and adorable ducks were also very soothing. I also appreciated finding a sewing kit in the Room—something you used to see at every Ryokan but rarely do anymore—and it really showed thoughtfulness. The food was delicious as well; next time I’d like to save up and upgrade even further (laugh). It would have been even better if there were samue loungewear. Also, if late check-out fees were a bit more affordable I’d love to extend my stay—3:00 pm check-in and 10:00 am check-out can feel rushed. I was genuinely moved by how kind every staff member was and by their heartfelt hospitality. Even guests passing each other inside greeted one another with smiles. Thanks to that warm atmosphere—and this peaceful place—I could end my trip through Izu on a perfect note. Choosing this Accommodation was absolutely the right decision. After we left by car, they kept waving us off with smiles until we were far away—and that gave me renewed energy to think, “I’ll do my best again from tomorrow.”

    An Accommodation offering heartfelt hospitality

    I stayed for two nights over the New Year holidays with my 86-year-old mother. I was a bit tense, trying to make sure she wouldn’t fall, but the staff kindly accommodated our various (last-minute) requests, such as providing a higher-seated chair in our Room. Everyone on the staff had wonderful smiles and provided truly pleasant service—from those who helped us at the front desk and dining area to those who replenished amenities and made the bed. I’m sincerely grateful, and my mother was delighted as well. The building has a charming atmosphere and is very clean, which makes you feel at ease. We also enjoyed soaking in the footbath while looking out at the garden and feeding the koi and waterfowl. This may be only in winter, but it seemed that the open-air bath outside the large public bath had cooled down because it is fed directly from the hot spring source. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed the private hot-spring bath in our Room, so we were very satisfied. As for meals, we had stayed at an upscale Ryokan a few days earlier, so compared with that I would rate this as 4 out of 5—but everything was delicious. There are many newer Accommodations that emphasize a modern, stylish vibe, but I think staying with an 86-year-old would be difficult at such places due to service considerations. Here, I felt that their ability to care for elderly guests comes from years of accumulated hospitality experience and strong human resources. Thanks to this Accommodation, we were able to create irreplaceable memories with my elderly mother. It was a wonderful Accommodation with classic offerings and heartfelt hospitality. I would love to visit again when I have another opportunity.

    Warm hospitality

    We stayed for two nights over the year-end holidays. The service was courteous in every respect, and we could truly feel the spirit of hospitality. The open-air style bath in our Room was even more comfortable than expected—we could hop in anytime, even late at night or early in the morning. It would have been even better if there had been a washing area like in the public bath. The public bath, both the indoor and open-air baths, was very relaxing, though we did hear some comments that it was difficult to adjust the water temperature at the faucets. The meals were excellent, especially the seafood such as splendid alfonsino. Breakfast and dinner were provided on both days with different menus each day, which we enjoyed. However, there were quite a few ingredients our child doesn’t eat well, so it would have been nice to have menu options. The Room was spacious and comfortable. The hallways outside the guest rooms also had a charming atmosphere. There were minor issues with the meals and Room facilities, but they handled them sincerely, so we don’t have any major complaints. We hope they will continue to make improvements going forward.

    Top-class dining at a long-established Ryokan

    The Room smelled strongly of mold and was terrible. The odor was so intense that even clothes I brought home unworn ended up smelling bad, which was very disappointing. The Room itself seemed well cleaned, so I suspect mold may be growing under the floor. The toilet also had an overpowering air freshener smell, which was hard to tolerate. This may be because the building and Rooms are old. The food was outstanding—better than the top long-established Ryokan in nearby Ito and Kawazu. Everything, from the spiny lobster and abalone to the small desserts that truly test a chef’s skill, tasted unmistakably homemade and was absolutely delicious. Overall, the only disappointments were the smell and the low, lukewarm temperature of the private open-air bath in the Room. All of the Ryokan staff were very pleasant, which I truly appreciated.

    It was a memorable trip with a calm atmosphere and cuisine that perfectly suited our tastes. The cleanliness and attention to detail by the staff made it an exceptional accommodation. My wife and I are already talking about staying here again.

    I truly experienced "hospitality."

    We stayed at this accommodation as a couple. From arrival to departure, we felt the warm hospitality throughout our stay. Even after returning home, the staff kindly assisted us as we had forgotten something at the accommodation. We are truly grateful for the thoughtfulness of all the staff members. The exterior and interior of the building have a charming traditional design, and we enjoyed spending time before dinner after checking in during daylight hours. Both the meals and baths were highly satisfying, and we experienced exceptional hospitality in various aspects of our stay. We hope to have another opportunity to stay here again in the future. Thank you very much!

    Seafood Accommodation

    The owner highly praised the dinner, especially the Ise lobster sashimi and golden eye snapper shabu-shabu. I personally enjoyed the breakfast, particularly the Ise lobster miso soup and golden eye snapper butter koji miso foil grill, which were absolutely delicious. The fruit platter exceeded expectations with its luxurious presentation and left a lasting impression. However, the private dining room was dimly lit; adding a stand light could enhance the visual appeal of the dishes. Additionally, while it cannot be helped, it was inconvenient that the open-air bath in our Room and its washing area were far apart. That said, the open-air bath itself was incredibly relaxing. Thank you very much!

    This was my second stay.

    A year ago, my daughter stayed here before giving birth and had a wonderful experience. We promised to return with the baby once born, which led to this stay. Last time, ducks came to the garden outside our room for feeding, but unfortunately, we had a different room this time. Instead, we enjoyed feeding them from the footbath area next to the lounge. The lounge provided a relaxing space with views of the garden, and we also enjoyed delicious meals as always. It was a peaceful stay overall. As I mentioned in my previous review, it’s disappointing that while there are colorful yukatas available, there are no samue outfits provided. This time I brought my own loungewear. Traveling with a baby presented some challenges—although items like diaper bins and baby shampoo were available for borrowing, there was no baby bath like at other accommodations we've visited before. Bathing in-room without one was quite difficult and inconvenient. Additionally, entering the outdoor onsen from the shower area required stepping over a high edge of the tub which felt somewhat unsafe. However, towels were sufficiently provided and very helpful. This is entirely my mistake but I didn’t realize until checkout that certain rooms charge half an adult's rate even for infants under 1 year old sharing existing bedding (Child Sharing Existing Bedding). Since payment was already made online based on two adults' rates only—and considering how great their service is—I didn’t question it at first because most accommodations don’t charge extra for infants sharing beds without additional bedding or services included; hence why bringing portable sleeping gear ourselves made train travel harder than necessary! If futons had been prepared instead upon arrival things would've gone smoother overall too! While ultimately such details could’ve been clarified earlier during prepayment stages beforehand—it might help future guests avoid similar misunderstandings if clearer notices stating specific infant-related charges apply depending upon selected-room types appear somewhere visible upfront when booking directly via site interfaces themselves perhaps? Lastly though despite minor hiccups along way thanks again sincerely towards accommodating allergy-friendly meal requests alongside attentive staff efforts ensuring restful enjoyable experiences throughout entire duration altogether!

    It was a satisfying accommodation.

    Overall, it was a satisfying stay. Despite having mobility issues, the staff assisted with carrying luggage and guided us to the elevator as meals were served on the second floor. They also kindly cleaned my leg braces for use within the accommodation, making my stay convenient. The meals were delightful with fresh fish and a satisfying variety of dishes for both breakfast and dinner. However, it was disappointing that the rice was not cooked properly (a bit mushy), which made it difficult to enjoy. We chose a room with an open-air bath and were likely upgraded to an even better room, which we found very satisfying. However, one concern was that I almost tripped over the corner between the beds; this is something that could be improved for safety. The service was excellent without any issues. What surprised me most was the Diamond (IKYU) benefit of a fruit platter—it exceeded expectations and left me amazed! This is an accommodation in Izu that I would highly recommend.
