    Highly recommended for its lavish breakfast, and conveniently located near the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter and the Ohara Museum of Art!

    The broccoli at breakfast was wonderfully crisp, and both the Hiruzen Jersey yogurt and the drinks were exceptionally delicious—perhaps because they contain no stabilizers. Since the accommodation cost is lower than in central Okayama City, it’s well worth going one stop further.

    The Hotel’s French cuisine is exceptionally delicious! The staff’s hospitality is also outstanding.

    As expected of a long-established Hotel, the staff’s hospitality is truly top-class. I stay here every year as my regular Accommodation, and from check-in they welcomed me like a familiar face, which made me feel at ease—like coming home. The Room is spacious, and I can relax in the bathtub at leisure. I also have dinner each time at the French restaurant on the first floor, and once again I was completely satisfied with the outstanding service and cuisine. Breakfast is excellent as well—especially the morning curry, which is highly recommended.

    It was classic and wonderful!

    I stayed here for sightseeing in Kurashiki and to enjoy the architecture. This is a classical Hotel designed by Mr. Urabe, and it was very charming. The Room was spacious and relaxing. The location is about a 10-minute walk from the station, but it is adjacent to the Ohara Museum of Art and convenient for exploring the Bikan Historical Quarter. If you get tired from walking, you can return to the Hotel along the way, and I also enjoyed walks at night and in the morning when there were fewer tourists. The Kurashiki Museum of Art designed by Kenzo Tange is nearby, so I recommend it for architecture lovers.

    A Comfortable Hotel

    The Room was clean, the breakfast buffet was excellent, and all the staff at the buffet venue were kind and helpful. I’ll stay here again when I visit Kurashiki! I’ve already made a Reservation for a stay in November. Thank you again for your hospitality.

    Classic Hotel

    Located next to the Ohara Museum of Art in Kurashiki’s Bikan Historical Quarter, a town of art. Inside the Hotel, you can also see large woodblock prints by Shiko Munakata and oil paintings by Torajiro Kojima—especially recommended for art lovers. All the Hotel staff were very kind.

    Breakfast is absolutely delicious! The curry is especially good.

    Breakfast starts at 6:30 a.m. when there is a group booking, but on days without groups it starts at 7:00 a.m., so it’s best to confirm the start time with the front desk the day before. It seems to vary by day.

    A Hotel with a Wonderful Atmosphere

    A classic Hotel with a calm atmosphere. The lobby is beautifully decorated with dynamic works by Shiko Munakata. The red glass pendant lights in the guest Room also had a retro-modern feel and added a nice accent to the Room. However, the Room I stayed in had a somewhat unusual lighting layout; because it was placed near the wall and close to the floor lamp, it felt like a slightly odd arrangement. I wondered if it was a remnant of changes made to the original layout—it was interesting to imagine. On the other hand, the service felt a bit different from what I had expected based on Reviews. At check-in, even though I entered the lobby carrying large luggage, the response was more like “Yes?” and I wasn’t guided until I said I was checking in. It wasn’t unpleasant, but it did leave me slightly confused. Also, when purchasing tickets for the Ohara Museum of Art, it felt somewhat businesslike. With a bit more guest-focused hospitality, it would have been an even more memorable stay. That said, being able to buy Ohara Museum of Art tickets at the Hotel was convenient, and thanks to that we were able to enter without waiting in line.

    Wonderful Hotel

    It was a Hotel where you could feel tradition and elegance. The Kurashiki Museum of Art was unexpectedly closed, but I was overwhelmed by Shiko Munakata’s “Great World” screen in the lobby. Original works by Torajiro Kojima and Ryohei Koiso, as well as an object made from a huge Bizen-ware rice jar, helped ease the disappointment. It was close to the Bikan Historical Quarter and the station, so I was very satisfied. Thank you very much.

    A Convenient Hotel in the Bikan Historical Quarter

    Spacious and truly worthy of the name “International Hotel.” Although it seems to have been in business for about 60 years, it has retained its classic charm, and the Rooms are well maintained with no signs of wear or inconvenience. The staff also seemed to take pride in their service. Perfect for sightseeing in Kurashiki.

    Since it’s such a famous Hotel, we chose the main building and stayed with breakfast and dinner included. The lobby, corridors, Room, and dining area were all charming, cozy, and calm—and the authentic cuisine made with fresh ingredients from Okayama was excellent. Perhaps because the Ohara Museum of Art was under renovation, it wasn’t too crowded and we could enjoy a comfortable stay. Both the hamburger steak at dinner and the cutlet (Wiener schnitzel?) were very satisfying, and every item at breakfast was reliably delicious—I wanted to try them all. Next time, I’d like to stay again along with another visit to the Ohara Museum of Art. However, it was disappointing that the Room humidifier didn’t draw enough water and there were water stains on the washbasin sink. Kurashiki feels like a town consistently built by visionary entrepreneurs and lovingly carried forward by everyone—it’s something I envy.

    Satisfied with the traditional charm, yet hoping for improvements.

    I stayed here for the first time during a business trip. The Hotel is about a 10-minute walk from JR Kurashiki Station and stands proudly in the Bikan Historical Quarter, exuding the dignity of a long-established establishment. Everything from the guidance at the front desk to the furnishings in the lobby and carpets was excellent. Of course, the Room was clean with a spacious layout, and even the bathroom was thoroughly cleaned—truly impressive. What surprised me was that, unlike some traditional hotels with outdated facilities, this Hotel had modern features like 100V outlets and USB ports on bedside tables, which I found very thoughtful. Breakfast was served buffet-style with menus focusing on local ingredients—all delicious to the point where I ate too much! However, I would suggest using deeper containers for curry and adding more distinctive flavors to salad dressings as areas for improvement. Lastly, there were some disappointing points: When I returned to my Room around 8 AM after breakfast, bed-making preparations had already started everywhere with carts scattered around. Additionally, while attending a remote meeting in my Room later on, loud conversations and laughter among staff could be heard clearly inside—this disrupted my experience significantly. While efficiency is important—and I fully understand how challenging it must be to manage staff or work hard in unfamiliar environments—I strongly feel that hospitality should be maintained until checkout time at such an esteemed Hotel. It’s especially regrettable because everything else about my stay had been so pleasant up until then. As this is a long-established Hotel representing Japanese hospitality standards globally today more than ever before—I hope improvements will continue moving forward based on these observations shared out of high expectations!

    A historic Hotel located in the Bikan District

    The Hotel lobby features a mural by Shikō Munakata, and the building itself offers a charming atmosphere with a sense of history. It is also conveniently located very close to the Ohara Museum of Art, making it an excellent choice.

    The atmosphere in the lobby was pleasant, perhaps featuring works by Shiko Munakata? The reception staff provided very courteous service. Other than that, it felt like a standard Business Hotel. During busy periods, traffic congestion can be an issue due to access, so I plan to check in advance next time before visiting.

    A tranquil Hotel.

    I stayed in the main building. The twin room for single use was spacious and comfortable. The hotel has a traditional and historic feel; it is not new but well-maintained. It is close to the Bikan Historical Quarter, offering a calm atmosphere, and the access from Kurashiki Station was convenient, making my stay enjoyable.

    Relax and unwind.

    I had plans in Kurashiki starting in the evening, so I made a reservation at a place I had always wanted to stay nearby. Although my stay was at the annex, the access from the main building was convenient, and it was a wonderful hotel where I could relax and unwind. The bath was spacious, offering luxurious space for a solo stay, which made me very happy. The breakfast had a wide variety of options and left me feeling full. Both transportation facilities and hotels seem to have many international visitors these days. I also enjoyed seeing the beautiful night view of Kurashiki. The atmosphere created by the staff truly reflected that of an international hotel. Thank you very much for such an excellent experience!

    I stayed in the annex, and the room was spacious with a convenient bathroom and washroom. It would have been more convenient to have an extra towel. The room felt slightly dry at times. The front desk staff were very polite and helpful. Thank you!

    Ideal for family trips

    We stayed as a family of three. The location is perfect for visiting the Bikan Historical Quarter. The interior has a luxurious feel, and it felt like a long-established Hotel. We had breakfast, which offered a wide variety of options and was very satisfying. Room service is available, and there is also an on-site bar where you can enjoy a relaxing time. Aside from the unit bath, everything was satisfactory. We would love to stay here again.

    Solo Trip to Kurashiki

    For our first trip to Kurashiki, we chose this accommodation after researching and being drawn to its location near the Bikan Historical Quarter and next to the Ohara Museum of Art. The result was excellent. The architectural brilliance of Chutaro Urabe, the interior design of the facility, and the art pieces created a very relaxing atmosphere, making it a truly comfortable hotel. We were glad we chose this place. Its location is perfect for dining out or taking walks, and if we have another chance to visit Kurashiki, we would love to stay here again. The young female staff at the front desk were very pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. Additionally, having an elderly male staff member guiding us in areas like the lobby or elevator added a sense of history that perfectly matched the ambiance of this historic hotel, making it feel even more profound.

    I stayed at the accommodation to watch a live stream on the smart TV. The TV was large and adjustable, making it enjoyable. The room was very spacious and comfortable. I also loved the calm atmosphere of the hotel itself. The next day, I dined at the restaurant, where natural light came in, allowing me to enjoy the view outside while eating. The food was delicious as well. I would love to stay here again if I have the chance.

The Room I stayed in offered a full view of the courtyard, with the Ohara Museum of Art visible beyond it. Access to Kurashiki City's Bikan Historical Quarter is very convenient.

    A 62-year-old classic-style medium-sized Hotel with an overall sense of age. The French full-course dinner was small in portion, and the service was not satisfactory. Staff engaged in long conversations with guests, and no one appeared for a while even when called during checkout. Located next to the Ohara Museum of Art, it is recommended for visiting the museum and the Bikan Historical Quarter.

    I stayed with my nearly 90-year-old mother and my sister. On the night of our stay, my mother accidentally took the wrong medication. The staff kindly provided us with emergency contact information and called a taxi for us, offering great assistance during a difficult time. When we returned late at night, they asked about my mother's condition and showed concern again when she and my sister came back later. My mother safely returned from the hospital. This is truly an accommodation with exceptional care and thoughtfulness. Thank you very much!

    We had a very pleasant stay. While the Facility feels slightly dated, the exceptional hospitality more than makes up for it. The architecture by Chintaro Urabe (the tapered joints of walls and ceilings are breathtaking!) and the exhibits, including works by Shiko Munakata, were truly impressive. Additionally, every dish at breakfast was well-prepared and delicious. If given the chance, we would love to visit again. Thank you very much!
